McAlister had quickly become one of my favorite delicious sandwich spot. I don't eat meat so there is ONLY ONE thing that I can have and it's the veggie wrap. However, it is sooooo delicious every time that if one thing is good on the menu that you like, that's all it takes. Tons of tables at the Orland Park location and staffs are nice. Did anyone else know that at 8:54PM, this store runs out of "EVERYTHING" and the doors are still unlocked? I mean, I get they close at 9, and people want to go home at the end of a work day. But, when I worked in fast food 35 years ago, my manager locked the door at the stroke of the closing hour. The food was terrible the service took for ever and it was not even super busy. The steak was very oily and had 0 flavor. Not even the salt and pepper I added helped. The mash potatoes are the box instant kind you can 100% tell and the taste well, it was a no for me. The gravy was a jelly type of gravy did not even dare taste it. We all left food they. Did not even care as of why no one ate, we asked for a box and took all the kids tender for the dogs. I feel sorry for the areas that do not have a McAlister's Deli. I have served this at family get togethers and everyone always loves it and is angry that they don't have one near them. Regardless of whether you have a sandwich, soup or other menu item they have great tasting food and an awesome menu! Although I am one for trying new items I do have my go to's. Usually from the Savory and Spicy Sandwiches options I just can not get enough of the Jalapeño Turkey Crunch, Roasted turkey, jalapeño chips, bacon, pepper jack, avocado and mayo on jalapeño roll. Includes a side and pickle spear. This is my absolute favorite. However I have had every Savory and Spicy Sandwiches option and they are all a 5 star. Can't go wrong. I am rarely compelled to write a review in defense of a chain sandwich shop (in fact this is the first time); however, I came here to study for several hours and the only thing wrong with this location is the patrons. I sat there for roughly two hours and I heard customers hurling insults at overworked cashiers who appear to be tasked by management to work multiple jobs. We have loved this restraunt for 6 years but the last order was not good at all. The wife had the chicken club and it was just not good. Very little bread and mayo. I walked in and went to the counter. There was no one at the counter, no customers and no workers behind the counter. They were all in the back so a woman comes out and I said I want to order the Reuben the corned beef and the woman say's you want the corned beef and Pastrami. I said no I don't want that I want the Reuben which was $12.29 for a ok sized sandwich. The side was a soup I picked for $4.29 for such a small soup. Lemonade was $3.99 for a good size plastic cub. The total was $22.57 without a tip. I left a $2.05 tip also and I put it on my card. The sandwich had no taste, the soup had hardly no taste and very small. The lemonade was no good, watered down. I really enjoyed my lunch at McAlister's. Upon arrival, the cashier greeted us and was extremely attentive, friendly and helpful. The restaurant was very crowed, so I assume the food was delicious, and it was! I decided to order the McAlister's Club Wrap, which was delicious. It included Smoked turkey, Black Forest ham, bacon, sharp cheddar, Swiss, spring mix, tomato, mayo and McAlister's Honey Mustard on a wheat wrap. This wrap cost 8.99 plus tax. It was made well and tasted very healthy. I ordered a Potato Salad, which I enjoyed. I ordered a sweet tea, and it surprisingly was not too sweet. It was perfect! I really enjoyed the Mempian sandwich. It was delicious and was very filling. The sandwich came with angus roast beef, ham, Turkey, cheese, Mayo, spring mix and tomatoes. I've been a regular here for about a year and I've decided to stop coming here even though the food is fairly decent. The service is terrible. The girl who usually works the front is unfriendly and doesn't even really speak or greet you when you come up to order. They also are incredibly slow and sometimes I'm waiting for a simple sandwich for over 30 minutes with barely anyone else in the restaurant. I am so beyond thankful the service a young lady provided me last week here! I was blown away by her willingness to assist my every request. I was asked by my boss to pick up a corporate lunch, in less than an hour before they planned on eating! Given my time constraint, I was unable to order off the catering menu because all of their catering spots had already been filled up! What to do??? what to do??? So I grabbed my purse and busted outta work like a bat out of hell! Went straight to the nearest McAllisters in orland. I go to order, but find out the options our corporate visitors chose from off the catering menu are not part of the regular menu, and they sometimes they don't have the ingredients until they know an order like that is getting placed. So now I'm in a pickle. Important people asked for specific items, should I dare return with anything but? NO! That's not an option. With the careful help of the young lady behind the corner we used the existing sandwich options, added and subtracted ingredients, condiments- breads, to mimic what the corporate visitors had actually ordered! She not only handled this with GRACE, she was not annoyed by my request. It took time, the people behind me had to wait longer than usual, but she didn't once rush me. She took such good care of that situation I can say I'm proud of McAllisters for hiring such wonderful people- improvident of this young lady's ability to be graceful under pressure. And I was there and back to work with 8 special orders in less than an hour! Not to mention- the sandwiches were by far THE BEST IVE EVER HAD. 100%. I had the spicy southwest chicken. I love love Love McAlister's. Their loaded potatoes are to Die for!!! I order my lunch from them through Ubereats which I've done a tons of time. Well when my food arrived they had given me carrot cake rather then the cheesecake I ordered. I called and spoke to a very sweet girl that said sorry they were out of cheesecake so the subbed it for the carrot cake. I love carrot cake so it isn't really a big deal. This is a very nice place for a lighter meal. Nice selection of sandwiches, salads, soup, and baked potatoes. Good was of high quality and tasty too. Nice options like getting a half and half Like half sandwich and half salad or half portion of soup. Of course you can order a full portion of soup, salad or a full sandwich. Servers being you order to you table if you are dining in. And come back often to refill drinks.
