This place could really use a good manager. Our shoes were sticking to the floor, the tables and seats were sticky as well. While ordering the cashier left while I was still ordering to do other task. I asked for sweet tea, she proceeded to get tea out of the unsweetened tea even when I brought it to her attention, she replied "the sweet tea is too sweet." The tables are all dirty with trash, leftover food and cups. Nobody is cleaning the dining room on a Sunday lunch rush around 12. I just drove into Columbia and had a long drive and didn't feel like eating somewhere new. I love McAlister's and I saw it and immediately knew it was the place. Surprisingly the dining room was empty which is unusual for McAlister's (at least in the Midwest) which explains how I got my meal so fast, which is also unusual. The cashier was super nice friendly and funny. It was late afternoon so I got a Spud because I know i would be able to take it home and prob get another meal out of it. For the Gluten Free peeps. I like McAlister's as my sub place of choice as their gluten free alternatives are not limited to salads. You have many choices such as spuds and sandwiches as they offer GF buns. The food is great however not having a high chair for my 13 month daughter was an issue. Having to fight a baby while trying to eat was a challenge. No issue with the food but due to not having high chairs for children makes this place not friendly for families with babies. read more

We had to come here for a pit stop and to just get some refreshments. I got some drinks and a brownie. The guy at the counter was really friendly and personable. Drinks were nice and cold and the brownie was delicious. Didn't eat a meal here but it was nice coming here to get what we needed. read more

My husband got the French dip and broccoli cheddar soup and I got a grilled cheese and chicken tortilla soup. I have always liked McAlister's although I would go to the one in Forest Acres. This was my first time at this location. The dining room was clean, the service lackluster, the food atrocious. First off our food was taken to another table and after that customer had handled my plate the server brought the plates to our table and tried to give me the plate that the customer had handled. I asked her to replace my sandwich which I don't think was unreasonable. When they brought it back you could tell it wasn't freshly made since the cheese had already hardened. My husband did not receive his soup or his au jus for his sandwich. They finally brought the au jus after he went up and asked for it but didn't get his soup again. Then they brought his soup, but no spoon. The food was tepid and just not good. I would never ever eat at this location again. I've never eaten at this restaurant before, but today I was super hungry and this was the first place I saw in my drive home. I pulled in thinking I would be able to order a basic sub and that would be it. To my surprise, this restaurant has real options! Soups, sandwiches, baked potatoes, and desserts! In my opinion, this puts it above other sandwich and deli shops. I ended up ordering a pick two, and I got the Autmn Squash Soup and the Spud Max. Wow. What a beautiful presentation it was! The soup was good, but on the sweet side in case you are interested in savory soups instead. Definitely reminiscent of fall flavors and the pecans added a nice crunch. There was also a sour cream drizzle. Very interesting flavor combos. The baked potato had olives, green onions, ham, bacon and cheese. I enjoyed the potato, but I think it was a smidge undercooked. I topped it off with a soft white chocolate macadamia nut cookie. It was good too. On top of all the good food, service was excellent. The cashier made soup recommendations for me, and they check on you while you're eating to make sure you have what you need. They even take your plate when you're done. McAlister's, I'll be back! We came to grab food here on our way to a game, as a group of student athletes just looking for food to go we were met at the door with attitude and unprofessionalism, the cashier told us it'd be more then an hour wait for food and the manager refused to talked to us. These kind of places only stay open for so long and the wait isn't worth it. I ordered the McAlister wrap with fresh fruit and unsweet tea with little ice. It was about 15.00 before the tip, the fruit was 60 cent extra. Of course I tipped at the register. It took long time to get the food. The tea was provided with little ice, which is how I like it, but it was simply slightly tinted water. No taste whatsoever. The fresh fruit, that was extra, had a few pieces of cantaloupe, two slivers of honey dew, one small piece of something that I could only describe as rotting pineapple, and one grape. The cantaloupe was bad, really bad. I didn't try the rotting yellow piece. I pushed it away. My advice, just don't! $18.00 and I'm hungry and aggravated. read more

Best chicken tortilla soup in town!!!! I had been turned off from McAlisters for years but so happy my mom and I decided to pop in to this new location. The restaurant wasn't busy which was surprising...it is in a weird location though. The cashier was friendly and our food was delivered quick, hot, and correct. I loved how clean it was as well. I am so happy with this location! Every time I've been here they've gotten my order right and they have the best customer service. I believe the manager was checking me out when I picked up my to go order and she went over and beyond, and then wanted to help me bring my things outside because I had Big order. The Sunset Boulevard location is the absolute worst with to go orders but my faith has been restored with this location. Thank you so much! read more

Ive eaten at the Lexington, Forest Drive, Irmo, and West Columbia locations. I was super excited when McAlister's moved to West Columbia because this location is the closest to my home & work; however, I must say I've had the worst customer service & food service from this location. Today was my last time, I'll never go back to this location. I order a choose 2 my spud max I wanted extra butter, sour cream, & paid for Ranch. I didn't get any bacon, barely any cheese, 5 olive piece. No butter, No sour cream, No Ranch. When I called back & finally spoke to the manager I was told "you didn't pay for the Ranch". Well, in the app it told me an additional.50 none the less it's not the caliber of any potatI I've ever gotten from there. I used my entire lunch break picking up my order. I was offer a dessert for my next order. If I wanted a dessert I would've order one. I wanted my potato. Now I have a sorry excuse for a potato & no condiments. I asked the question "do I get my straw from condiment stand?" The actual reply " if you give me a minute it's give it to you". Slightly pricey for me, so I save them for if I'm absolutely desperate for a change. Never a complaint about the food. Perhaps, maybe a larger portion size for the price. Also, what the hell about the drink sizes, maybe decrease size and price of those. At least something that will fit a standard cup holder so that I don't have to drive one handed. This last visit here for a to go order has left me extremely disappointed to the point I am not sure I'll be back. I paid over $18 for sandwiches and soups, and received so little food it was almost insulting. Portion sizes have never been Mcalisters strong suit; however, this hit a new low. My soup was supposed to be loaded country potato, topped with cheese, bacon bits, and chives. The cup was half full of potato soup, heavy pepper, and nothing else. It wasn't hot either to make it even worse. My sandwich, a southwest turkey melt, was less than 3 inches in length. It was all of two bites. I felt like I got the leftovers of an employee who made themselves a meal. The sandwhcih wasn't just small either, as it too was poorly made. A drop of chipotle mayo, minimal guacamole, and some lettuce half falling off. My wife and I would have been better off going next door for a pizza. I placed an order over the phone at the location on augusta rd in West Columbia. When I picked up my order, there was NO receipt with it. I called back to see about getting the total, and they couldn't find it. I had the order number but they couldn't look it up. I was asked " Are you sure that you ordered it from here"? This is one of the worst restaurant experiences I've been through!! There first was a roach in the floor when we went set down!!! Our waiter, Amanda was rude and accused me of lying about having given a pickle when I asked for one. And to top it all of my friends Club sandwich had a hair made into it masking my whole youth group not wanting to finish their meals waisting our time and money. This location has a real consistency problem...it's hit or miss that your order will be correct. 60-70% of the time something is missing from my sandwich or spud. The managers are very nice and professional but don't seem to understand they have an issue with staff who make the sandwiches, etc. We were very excited when learning West Columbia was getting a McAlister's but it's been open a year and this location can't compete with the other locations in the Columbia area. And, that's a shame. read more
