Went to McBob's today as I saw their corned beef hash featured a week ago in Parade Magazine. We walked in and the place was very busy and noisy. It took at least 10 minutes for a gentleman behind the bar to ask how many we were. We finally were seated in very tight quarters and directally in front of a hot fireplace. My wife ordered 2 eggs with corned beef hash on the side. I ordered The McGinnity which is 3 eggs on top of corned beef hash with a side of potatoes. Let me say we really wanted to like the corned beef hash as it is one of our favorite breakfast items to eat. We both concurred that the corned beef hash was extremely salty and greasy. The hash browns were also greasy. I'm really not sure why this place has received such good reviews? We definitely will not be back. read more

horrible service and not so good fish fry. went here on a Friday around 8.30. few empty tables. was seated in a few minutes and tried their fish fry and chicken sandwich. my friend ordered a imported beer and myself just water without ice. three people rotated to wait on our table and despite repeated attempts got water with full ice. tried their fish fry. BOth of us felt that its mediocre. took 45 minutes to get the fish fry. atmosphere was casual and overall it looks like a Louisiana shack. My sandwich was quite bland. A little experiment for fish fry mainly that failed. will keep trying at other places. For those looking for good food and atmosphere, not a good place. Oscars or Comet would be a passionate place to spend your evening. Not recommended. read more

You have not had a Rueben unless you have been to McBobs. The staff was superb, the food was worth every penny. The atmosphere is not the best, but overall, we keep going back for the reuben and there nachos. YUM!!! read more

We love McBobs but the brunch on weekends is always really busy. It's worth the wait if you aren't starving already. We usually try to go early. Once a month or so. Sometimes we order to go for dinner. Went today and they were busy so we ordered some drinks. Didn't wait too long for a table. Server Damon took our order quickly. My boyfriend's food didn't come right away but the food runner said someone would bring it right out. It never came, which was a bummer. I had given him some of my food to tide him over but by the time I finished eating he still hadn't gotten food. We cancelled the order and paid and Damon handled it really good and gave us our drinks on the house and a drink card for next time. Definitely was a mix up in the kitchen which can happen. He also offered to buy us a meal next time we come in or send us off with something to go (we didn't want to hold up an table). We were originally really disappointed but they definitely made up for it which means we will be in sooner rather than later or never! Thanks guys for appreciating your customers! read more

I am really torn here. McBob's has been known to provide a mean fish fry and a famous reuben. I know it produces good eats. However, when ordering carryout, I was met (on the phone) by an ornery barkeep. Sure. They want to sling drinks more than they want to prepare to-go orders. However, as a former bartender, I know that pleasantries go a long way. It seemed like I was putting him out rather than making him money. When I arrived at the bar, he knew it was me and told me that he just had to package up the chips and nacho cheese. I am fine with presentation on takeout bar fare. Styrofoam is A-Okay. However, I would advise on this one that the cheese be placed in a separate compartment or container with a lid. In the mere 8 minutes it took to drive home, the corn tortilla chips were soggy under the weight and heat of the cheese. I don't know. Call me crazy, but it just seems to make sense to separate them. I think that makes sense to just about anyone. Who wants soggy chips? I'm not asking for refinery. I'm asking for common sense and a little bit--a teeny, tiny bit--of warmth. There are plenty of neighborhood bars that are capable of having the great feel of a slow and relaxed dive, while at the same time offering up good food with hospitable staff. read more

I'm a regular there on either Tuesday or Thursday for lunch. Taco day! They are awesome. I would call them burritos because they're in a soft flour tortilla. In spite of their greatness, I've been switching over to the Cajun chicken sandwich. Not hot, just spicy and flavorful. My new lunch favorite. I would love to have iced tea with my lunch, but frankly, theirs is awful. So I stick with soda and it's all good. read more

One of the best "new" (to us) places we've been in a long time!!!! Have heard about this place for years and decided to try it one Sunday as we were driving by. First of all, EVERYONE in this place is SO HAPPY, workers and customers alike. Atmosphere says a lot, so that's a great start. Next, I enjoyed one of the better bloody marys I've had in a long time (I'm picky about my bloodies, so this is a huge plus for me). Most importantly, THE FOOD. We started with honey mustard wings, and they were beyond tasty. Perfectly cooked, sauced, and flavored. I got the grilled chicken sandwich which was quite good, but my boyfriend's Reuben was the BEST sandwich he's ever had, and he loves sandwiches. He gets a Reuben at a lot of different places, and he claims this is the jackpot (which after stealing multiple bites, I'd definitely have to agree). On top of all this, the service was outstanding. Friendly, down-to-earth staff made this the perfect experience. This is a new spot for us for SURE!!!! read more

Yum! I love their fish and have only been here twice (the second time for a Rueben which is good but I don't usually like a lot) and will definitely be coming back. The staff have been friendly, funny and professional both times and the environment is pleasant and casual. I was anxious to bring my girlfriends daughters here as we had both been before, and loved it. Unfortunately this day was not so good. There was a sparse crowd, but our food didn't come out for 30 minutes, and then all sandwiches were over done. The reason for the long wait was that "chicken tenders take a long time", really? Tacos as big as your head, but only on days that start with a T or an S! Ruebens, corned beef sandwiches, corned beef hash are the best anywhere. Breakfasts @ McBob's are amazing. You have a choice of a homemade scone which changes everday.They are awesome. Their eggs benedict is offered with w/ tenderloin or prime rib for a slight upcharge which is so worth it. They have also perfected the sauce which is also amazing! But they also have a breakfast special, sandwich special as well as a pizza special that usually gets my curiosity going. Have never been disappointed with anything. Service here in this quaint Irish pub is great, the staff really know their stuff and make you feel @ home . Ever been to one of those places where your server or bartender looks like they'd rather be any other place but there?I've noticed that I've never felt that way when we leave McBob's, the fun banter and hub-bub of the place is what also keeps us coming back and telling good friends about the place (would like to keep this a secret but they deserve the praise).The bad ass bartenders make one of the best bloody marys around and we all can name other great places for those, these are right up there. First time that we ate in this restaurant was on a busy Friday night. We were greeted by the bartender and then immediately by the hostess and seated right away. The waiter took our drink order and brought me a room temperature Cabernet in a very chilly glass. The waiter said the wine was not chilled, but the cold glass made it chilled. They have a blackboard touting their pizza of the month, but when we wanted to order one, they said they weren't serving them. They asked us to move to a different table so they could put ours together with another one for a large party and they offered to pay for the wine, so we agreed to move. I ordered a salad and a tenderloin that came with american fries. For some strange reason, they cut the tenderloin up and placed it on top of the salad greens and did not serve the fries. I brought that to their attention and so then they served the fries, which I'd rate an average C grade. The salad and steak were really wonderful. But when we got the bill, the wine was still on it, so we asked for it to be taken off and we never did get our bill back after waiting at least 15 minutes. So we left money on the table and left. They need some work, better coordination and communication. read more

It pains me to do this to a local establishment, but I have to ask: McBob's, what happened? Over the past year the service during Sunday brunch has gone steadily downhill. We used to be regulars; but as we noticed the usual Sunday waiters were gone, so was the awesome service. We started going less often, and after several months decided to give it another shot for my birthday. Waited so long for someone to ask us for our initial drink order, my husband finally went up to the bar to order. A simple substitution for bread vs. English muffin couldn't even be handled correctly, and not once did anyone stop over to see how our meals were or if we needed another beverage. Took forever to get our check, after requesting it twice. The food was good, but nothing makes up for lousy service. It's really, really bad, and has been for months. I feel like they have enough of a local following that they could care less about bad reviews, but eventually they add up. Please McBob's, take heed and get better servers who are attentive, energetic, and at least act like they want to be there. read more
