Needed a specialty tow because we have a tall delivery van-sized vehicle and the original tow company that our insurance road-side assistance people called said they couldn't do it. Didn't actually get the chance to use these guys because the truck that could do the work was occupied for the day, but I appreciated the courtesy that I got from Chris on the phone and he gave me the approximate time he thought the truck would become available, which was great to know I had a backup if I couldn't get anyone earlier. If I need another tow in the future, I will definitely call these guys again just because of the nice phone manners I got when I called this time. read more

Our semi broke down in Oxnard and we are from WI. Nikki and all the shop guys and office ppl were beyond helpful and accommodating and so friendly.. and what we thought was gonna be a huge fix turned out to be a small fix. And instead of just replacing a major part they tried a couple little things first and they found the problem, so they saved us a lot of time and money.... Have used McCarty's for over 20 years, several times for tows. Always professional, small family owned business and have never let me down. I feel like some of the other reviews may be upset with city processes rather than business operations, as they do run jobs for the city like many other tow companies do as well. They don't make those rules, they just follow them as instructed per city contracts. Brian, the owner, is great and has always taken care of me-they're my go to! Makes me sad to see people jumping to conclusions when we should be valuing our established, local, small family run businesses in the area. read more

Do not use this company! We are currently working to get this contractor cut from abusive fees. Just because they are friends with those in power does not give them the right to push the rules. My stolen vehicle was taken there after a high speed chase. We had to wait for city to open to file forms so they could release it after their investigation was completed. They made sure to charge us the maximum and rudely kicked us out when I asked about the process. They threaten to put a lien on my home if I did not pay it. I had no idea the value of the damaged or no time to make a decision. They were insensitive and mean. I was not surprised by their behavior, they have the worst reputation in the area. As an Operations Manager of transportation companies, I never booked them and have cut every contract I could. I prefer working with companies that show up and give straightforward billing. Cronyism keeps them going but not much longer. Plenty of better options: Platinum Towing or Nachos and many others. I paid their price and simply moved my vehicle over to the yard next to them where my friends were more than happy to help me get away from them. What a horrible experience. Found myself stranded off the 101 in Ventura and called roadside service for a tow. McCarty and Sons took the call and confirmed with me that they were on their way. 45 minutes later they called and cancelled, and simply said they were too busy to pick me up. In all that time there never was a can't get there attitude. Always and without fail McCarty's would get the job done. What a great experience on such a tuff day. Had to go to LA for a meeting, my car broke down when I pulled in the parking lot. I had just spent over 2k on standard repairs and of all things the pulley came off the alternator. I called McCarty's up and some nice lady listened to my story and came up with a plan..... they met my wife in Ventura, loaded up her car, brought it to me and picked up mine and took it to my mechanic back in Ventura to get it repaired. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! They towed my daughter's car from her apt complex and then intentionally overcharged her! It's a city contract so she was forced to pay the city impound fee, the cost of the tow, and the bribe. The city won't investigate or void the contract (hmm). We're hoping Better Business Bureau has enough influence to change these fraudulent and unjust practices. read more

These guys are great! 9 years ago I needed a weld repair and they did the job quickly and at a great price! That old weld is still holding strong under heavy use and I just recently returned to get another type of weld from there again. They still have great service, quick service and great prices.
