I received the email asking for the document but never received a quote back...this was over a week ago. (And yes, I sent the email as it is in my sent folder. 'Jim the handyman' on yelp wanted me to read through the entire manual and estimate how long it would take him for the job as he charges $85 an hour. We used MCCS to install our new play set. Maryam was super responsive from the very first quote request and was quick to reply to questions. We were able to quickly book an appointment to install the very next day. She reached out and asked if she could come the night before to set up. She got everything ready in our backyard so that she and her team could get started first thing the next day. They worked all day (it was big undertaking) and did an AMAZING job. These guys did a phenomenal job. They were highly motivated, highly skilled, and very knowledgeable in their craft. I will definitely use them again if I ever need repairs done. I had a leaky wall in an upstairs bathroom that had damaged the drywall of the ceiling below. Another big name company (which shall not be named) quoted me at over $1,000 just to replace the faucet, they wouldn't do the drywall or replace tile that had to be removed. I initially contacted MCCS just to do the drywall and tile, but they were able to do everything (put in a new faucet, replace the wall and tile behind the faucet, and put up a new drywall ceiling) for under $1,000. Very glad I found these guys before the other company ripped me off. Hopefully I won't need to do any more repairs any time soon, but if I do I know that MCCS will have my back. Not only did she provide me with an affordable price, but she and her partner were very quick, and the drawers turned our perfectly. Maryam is so experienced with these things that she even gave the suggestion to attach the drawers to the wall or baseboard with a latch because those particular drawers are known to fall over when you open them. MCCS was tasked with redoing a small bathroom and install a shower door. After improperly measuring for form and fit, they installed tiling in which no standard door would ever fit. They left holes in the tile they installed after trying to fit a standard frame. Rather than fixing their work, they came up with a plethora of excuses and abandoned the project after I had paid them in full, and in good faith. I am now suing in small claims for incurring cost to repair the damaged tiles that will cause leeks, and a custom shower frame that will be required at greater than twice the cost. Given their track record, I have opted to file a report to their licensing authority to ensure future consumers do not suffer a similar fate. read more

I guess it depends on her mood. I've attempted to hire her for 3 different jobs, she's only actually completed one. The first one was to put together a kitchen island. That took over 5 hours by herself and 1 more hour after her partner arrived and joined her. But it was a job well done ultimately. While she was at the house for that job I showed her a crack we had in our bathtub and she said that it needed to be fixed asap and she would send me a quote to do it. I never heard from her and when I contacted her she said she wasn't going to get to it. Ok, so much for this thing that needed to be fixed right away. A while later I bought a small shed that my husband and I were going to put together ourselves but since we were exhausted from our diy backyard remodel we thought we'd outsource it. She said she could do the job that week so I didn't shop around for others to do it and also anticipated having the shed finished so I could put away tools laying in the driveway before company came that weekend and had to park in that driveway. She came about 45 mins late and started the job. Then it started to rain. I expected her to come back the next day to finish the job she started but I never heard from her. Finally I reached out to her explaining that I had anticipated having this done in time for company and she said well I should get someone else. Not even that she couldn't do it by the weekend but could finish the job she started later. I was like whatever. Hopefully you'll catch her when she's in the mood to fix or assemble whatever you need. But don't anticipate her being a reliable go-to person who is interested in your recurring business. Update: The response from the business is just a repetition of the facts I've already stated. These aren't conflicting accounts. I don't know why she would say I wanted her to work in the rain. That's ridiculous. I guess the best defense for businesses is to paint the client as demanding and unreasonable. I just wanted her to *come back* and finish the job she started and agreed to, an agreement that prevented me from making other arrangements. Yes I had a time when I preferred to get it done by and *asked* if they could come early. If the answer was no (which she did not readily communicate. I had to be the one to keep reaching out) she should have said so and we would have worked something out. But who completely abandons a job they have already started?? When a client is already depending on you. If you said you would come back and finish the job why wouldn't you honor that? So now the parts are all over the driveway outside in the rain and wind where they left them instead of being in the box where it would have been until someone could finish the job. The point is this business will come through for you intermittently but it is not at all to be considered a reliable business. This is the same complaint of other reviewers who have tried to give them recurring business. They are not going to be your go-to reliable handyman but they are good if you can catch them for one job. Second update: I see the business has updated their response to pretty much lie and be judgmental (I'm a woman and I *live* in my neighborhood). Smh. I downgraded my rating because their original response included inaccuracies about my husband that he got very upset about. It seems now I did the right thing. I usually don't go back and forth on yelp reviews like this but we feel very strongly about the lack of professionalism we were the victim of. We are worse off than when we called this business. ***Buyer Beware*** Very poor workmanship and non professionalism. Like a few of the reviewers, I read all the positive reviews and decided to call Maryam at MCCS. I really question the pictures and the positive reviews for this company. I needed to get some drywall, flooring, bathroom and paint work done in my house. The initial project was supposed to finish in one week with paying half upfront and supplies and the remainder half when the renovation was completed per expectations. My girlfriend and I was assured that Maryam and her crew (turns out to be her boyfriend Charles and her) would have everything completed perfectly and that my bottom floor would be a brand new room. They underbid the competition so we decided to go with them. About a week into it her the work became more sporadic as was stretched out as Maryam bickered that Charles had some family issues that he couldn't perform the work. 1 week became two and the supplies cost more that doubled. I believe they purchased extra to be used for future jobs. Typically when you hire a handyman you don't have to pay for his tools and there were receipts that included these items. Speaking about receipts, I asked Maryam to send them to me and unprofessionally she send me countless duplicates and her match several times didn't add up correctly. I had to correct her calculations several times. Towards week three we kept having to address the same issues of the drywall, paint and grout not looking right with paint drips, rough surfaces, and bathroom vanity tile falling off and not lined up correctly. Workmanship issues became more evident with all the imperfections in the walls and paint and unprofessionally they were reactive and didn't proactively address the issues. They even tried to add charges that was not authorized for example charging $50 to plug in a fire alarm that already had a clip harness that takes 2 minutes to install or a $50 charge to add a bead of grout. Maryam at MCCS may initially come across as a lower bidder but buyer beware as she will try to add the charges in other ways to try to nickel and dime you. When they say something is included they will do the work and then add a made up charge to the bill. This was by no means a small project nearly 10K and for anyone installing anything other than a swing set I would recommend going with a handy man service that uses contracts and has a proven track record in doing the work that is requested. We even so far as to provide food for them while they worked and put away our dogs due to the whining and chaos of all the banging and noise till late at night. Lastly, I was asked to take a pencil & circle the areas that needed work ( shown in pictures) but they seen no fault with their poor workmanship. Currently they have chosen not to acknowledge the circled work and complete the work professionally and next steps are being taken. She had her boyfriend threaten me that I better pay the remainder of the balance even when the work wasn't done to professional completion (see pictures) Charles quoted false figures ( so I'm not sure what was in truth shown to him on estimate ) how he would let everyone know how a bad person and they would make false claims in their return comment and that they would deny that I paid for services that they deny that they told me walls would be perfect was that I bad person etc. Rather than a sane contractor that would take pride in their work and fix the issues they find excuses to perform work as agreed. You truly you don't want these people in your home. read more

I was very pleased with my experience. Mariam was very quick to respond and the rate she gave me was very reasonable, especially that most contractors will give you an hourly rate and never really tell you how long it will take them to do the work. I was in a hurry to get the work done so Mariam was able to come in the evening and work late. I had a couple pieces missing to fix one of the doors and I was worried that they wouldn't be able to finish up. Mariam went to the store that night and picked up what was needed to finish the job.
