I went here with a friend recently. My friend scraped the side of her car on one of our apartment garage structural poles. We took it to Zoom Auto Body first and the guy, Andre, I believe is his name, said that it would be over a grand to fix. So we drive around to see other places and get quotes and McCurdy's was the second place we went. We get there and were greeted by a woman who was quick to tell my friend, "ummmm, that wipes right off." She calls to a man in the garage, who comes right out with a cloth and wipes the paint right off the car. Boom. Done. Free. There was a small scratch and dent left on my friend's car, but the woman advised her that it would be a total waste of money to even bother fixing it, since it really isn't noticeable and would take a ton of effort and money to fix for nothing. As females, we get hustled a lot by the car places. McCurdy's is not one of those places. To the contrary, they give you advice like they're your parents. This October, I got into a car accident with my Audi SQ5 where I was rear ended by another vehicle on the freeway. After shopping around for body shops, I found McCurdy Body Works and I have to say it was the BEST decision I ever made. I like the fact it is a family owned business and has been in business for over 20 years. In general, the staff was professional, courteous, and very helpful. I dealt primarily with Mike McCurdy and he did an exceptional job in dealing with my insurance company, setting up a rental car for me, and keeping me informed about the status of my vehicle. He even sent me photos upon request after they removed the rear bumper and close to the completion of my car. The work they did on my car was exceptional. I am a very detailed-oriented person and upon examination of their work, I could not find one flaw in their workmanship. The fit and finish on the car was flawless. You would have never known it was in a car accident just by looking at it. They also color matched my car's rear hatch door and replaced rear bumper precisely. Overall, I am more than very pleased with the work and level of service I received by McCurdy Body Works. Got into a fender-bender a couple of weeks ago (some front-end damage). I called, made an appointment, and took my 2006 Ford Focus in for an estimate. They assured me that they would have a mechanic check out under the hood to make sure everything was fine, and gave me a reasonable estimate, with which the AAA adjustor agreed. Got the car back today and as usual the work was fantastic (I'd used them a couple of years ago for a repair on another car of mine). When I got there, one of the staff went over what had been done and they'd even detailed the car so it shone in the sun. I love these guys to pieces. This shop is a true family owned gem. My driver's headlight area was damaged due to an accident. I thought that it would be a quick fix but they told me I had to replace my entire panel. They replaced my entire front portion within a few days and completely cleaned the interior of my car (which I did not expect at all). They were also kind enough to touch up a few scratches and pop out another dent that wasn't associated with my accident for free! When I got my Nissan back, it looked better than when I first bought it! The wax coat was so shiny! I felt like I had a brand new car and my heart was jumping for joy. They charge more than fair rates and their staff are the friendliest people you will ever meet! Also peep the legit phone from the 50s that's still operational that they have in their office! My 2015 Prius had curb scrapes on the rocker panel and front bumper cover. I told Matt I was paying for the repairs out of pocket and he gave me a very reasonable quote. I dropped the car off when I headed out of town for a week and when I got back it was ready and better than new. His crew fixed the scrapes and they even repaired a section where the paint was crazing after an impact and touched up over a dozen rock chips on the hood without my asking. McCurdy Body Works is the type of body shop that other body shops should strive to be. Their work is top notch, their customer service is excellent, they have very fair pricing, and are just all around good people. I was involved in a relatively minor fender bender in my 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro but it affected quite a few areas (panels, doors, fenders, etc.) that needed to be replaced and repainted. I've babied this truck (it was ceramic coated) and plan to keep it for a while -- it needed to be perfect. They absolutely achieved this. Even my detailer said it looked the same as it did when I bought it brand new. Toyotas are notorious for orange peel and not so perfect paint -- they did an excellent job matching the factory Toyota paint specs. No one would be able to tell what was old and new, and that it was even replaced/painted for that matter. This is a craft and a level of detail that I suspect most body shops cannot achieve. And yet, they did it for a comparable price to the others that I shopped, kept me informed every step of the way and completed in the timeframe they told me, and even gave me a ride home. I can see why they've been in business so long, and I will continue to use them and recommend them to anyone and everyone. I cannot recommend McCurdy highly enough. Their customer service and work quality is better than anyone else I've found in LA. They were friendly, efficient, and happy to walk me through my estimate and assuage my concerns. The estimate was less than another auto body place I'd gone to, but McCurdy explained where each of the costs came from when I asked. The repair, when completed, looked absolutely immaculate, AND they did some extra small repairs without charging extra. They add a free wax after 30 days as well. I hear a lot of good things about this shop and was really excited. I took my car in for a n appraisal and I thought it was professionally done. However, then they started ignoring me. I sent two emails, both of which were ignored, as well as one phone call, where I never got a call back. I was never impolite or anything, but I did enquire about any available discounts as I was getting three separate issues fixed at once, all payed out of pocket. I guess that led them to believe I didn't have any money, as shortly afterwards they stopped responding to me. It was definitely a weird and uncomfortable experience to know that I was judged to be an unworthy customer because I didn't look like someone who could afford 5 grand worth of repairs. They still seem like a professional shop, but this interaction left me with a terrible taste. What's even worse is that during the few days while I wasn't sure if I was being purposely ignored or not I put off looking for another shop as this one had been so highly recommended. TLDR; If you're paying out of pocket and they think you don't have the money, they'll just stop interacting with you even though they'll promise to get right back to you. read more

Mike McCurdy totally won me over with his honesty and professionalism. My X2 rubbed up against a wall and I was mentally set to spend several hundred dollars having the scratches removed. Mike took a look and initially tried buffing it out by hand at no charge and then said he could probably remove it with some additional light abrasives and detailing. He felt confident he could remove the scratches and not have to repaint the area. He gave me a quote to have it repainted as option B, but I went with his initial recommendation. This was the only positive experience I had after a recent fender bender (I know that is not saying much, but keep reading). I was frustrated after the accident of course, as who enjoys those, yet McCurdy's handled everything so smoothly and easily I went from the accident to AAA tow to McCurdy's repair shop within an hour. This is a family business that has been operating for several generations and they were professional, honest and incredibly precise. They did EXCELLENT work, did it under the time they had allotted, washed and waxed my car and told me to come back for another free wax in a month! I've had terrible repairs in the past where the paint starts chipping due to cheap and shoddy workmanship and materials, but this is NOT the case in this excellent shop. This morning at 7am I left Mc Curdy in a white Lincoln Town Car which belongs to Bill, the owner of Mc Curdy body works. About a month ago I took my car in to get a minor paint job. I was a bit worried that they might not match the color, but thankfully they know exactly how to use their German paint system and did a great job. They also detailed the interior and buffed the paint all around (as they do with all vehicles leaving the shop). I took the car back in last week for a second buff and detail appointment (which is a nice little bonus they offer) but wasn't too happy with the follow up detail work. Bill knows that I have a very busy work schedule so he offered to let me take his car home while they redo the detail and take the car back to him when I go to pick up mine later tonight. That kind of old fashioned personalized customer service is what you can expect at Mc Curdy! If I ever need a paint job again, Mc Curdy will be my one and only stop and I suggest you do the same. As someone that likes to shop around, I really have to say that you need LOOK NO FURTHER. When I went in to get the estimate, it was quick and easy. At the time, my door couldn't open fully due to the way it had been crashed into. Matt was the one who took a look at it and he just popped out a part near the door so that I wouldn't have to squeeze into it anymore! I just went to pick up my car today and it looks FABULOUS!!!! All of the repairs were made perfectly, the car is running great, and they even took care of some small scratches that my car had (FOR FREE)!!! On top of that, my car was vacuumed and cleaned on the inside, and the car was given to me already running, A/C blowing, so I'd have a comfortable and easy ride out. I personally believe that good service is scarce nowadays, but these guys really impress. From the beginning, middle, to end they were professional, helpful, accommodating, and accurate. My rear bumper was scratched and torn underneath. I had backed into a wall and did not want to go thru my insurance. Matt was able to help me out a bit with a better price. My car is otherwise pristine and I have not had the best experience with most bodyshops. The car was ready when promised and the repair/replacement of the bumper looked very good. It has been awhile since I have needed a bodyshop and I did have sticker shock at what it cost. The other bodyshop I visited had the same amount on the quote.
