My first time at McDaniels was amazing! I went there to buy Defy deck stain stripper and brightener. Immediately, someone asked me if I needed help. In the paint department, I found the products I needed and somehow, my conversation ended up about this other huge painting project (bedroom and bathroom) I had. Kevin B. (who's been there forever) came to my rescue. He was super knowledgeable and friendly to talk to. He gave me wonderful tips as to how to paint the bedroom quicker, like starting with the base moulding, painting with a metal edge. I also mentioned how my 3M blue tape peeled paint off my wall. He recommended the yellow Frog tape instead. Then he proceeded to give me tips about painting the border of the wall and ceiling, wall first; not ceiling first so I would then use the Frog tape on the wall in order to paint the ceiling next. Overall, Kevin was an outstanding helper. I would go to McDaniels anytime I have any special projects! read more

Went in to get some Mrs. Meyers products(McDaniels Carry's the full line) as we were on the last 5 miles of a 9 day trip. When we got there we noticed one of the dual tires on our trailer was flat. We went over to the oil n lube place to see if they could air it up. No luck:(. Went into McDaniels and asked if they had a portable air tank. Yes they did! A young man came out and was able to air up the tire. We got home safely because of him. McDaniels always has great customer service. They care about their customers! Thank you for making the last 5 miles of an 8 hour long day of driving so much less stressful!!! read more

I have been shopping at McDaniel's ever since I moved to Snohomish in 1990. I prefer to go to McDaniel's rather than the "box stores" due to it being more convenient, and of course, the employees and staff are always excellent. You go to a "box store" and wander around for ten minutes trying to find someone who knows their head from a !@#$ but at McDaniel's someone knowledgeable and friendly greets you within a minute and helps you right on your way. It is the way a hardware store should be. I particularly like their selection of hardware and their garden department always has fresh and robust plants. It seems they always have what I need. Above all, I am impressed with their staff. As with any retail business, your greatest assets are your employees. Bob, the owner, has always been more than helpful and it is obvious that he cares for his business. His son, on the other hand, has an air of entitlement, it seems, that makes me uncomfortable at times. I have witnessed him speaking unkindly to employees and I worry for the future of this wonderful store should it fall to his hands. As it stands, I am happy that the staff and Bob are there to keep things on track and will continue to be a faithful McDaniel's shopper! read more

This be my hardware store of choice. I live in south Everett and so often I find that my time spent shopping at the two big box national chains near me is more often than not a waste of time. Driving straight to McDaniel's Do It Centre is a better use of my time as there is close in parking and copious amounts of friendly knowledgeable help. This is the best hardware store- bar none! The staff is friendly and super helpful! We recently got a great deal on a barbecue, Theresa- "T", offered great customer service, set up delivery, follow up phone call and made sure we had all of the things we needed. Delivery day came- the guys were great even carrying barbecue to back deck ( husband injured). we put the unit together and found we were missing one cotter pin. I was headed back to the store when Tyler called to tell me, he had the missing cotter pin, he had put it in his picket to ensure it didn't get lost. (I never mind going back to this store- they have everything,) I picked up the pin and thanked them. I would have never gotten the kind, thoughtful assistance from any of the big box stores. Although things didn't go perfectly- I could'nt have asked for more, super people, kind, helpful, and perfectly neighborhood hardware store! read more

Just heard they fired my favorite little helper in the flower department, who was on maternity leave. She'd been working there for several years and was very knowledgeable about plants. She was so helpful and friendly, every time I had a question (I have a brown thumb and kill everything I plant). How could they do this to this new little mommy? They are more costly than the Lowes and the other box. However, always helpful, always with advice through each of my projects, will special order for me, great paint department. I've met the father and then the son and really- hard to justify going anywhere else. Nice people, competent, good selection. Much, much rather give them my money than Home Depot or the other box. read more

I've been shopping McDaniel's since it opened over twenty years ago. No place better in the county, probably in all of western Washington. The kind of service always there...the hardware sales person spent over half an hour finding and modifying a twenty-cent screw needed to fix a toy for my grandaughter for Christmas. And then didn't want to charge me for the first two attempts that didn't quite work. I'll never shop any other place unless its for something McDaniel's just doesn't have in stock (which is extremely rare) and I need it right away. read more

My experience with the staff and products at McDaniel's Do-It Center has always been exceptional. They carry many hard to find items and products that you can't find at the mega-hardware stores like Lowe's or Home depot. Just today I was looking for a water-based laminate adhesive, for applying Formica, and they not only carried it, but asked if I wanted it in a quart or pint size. The folks at Lowe's were not even aware that the product existed. read more

My wife and I have had mostly good experiences here. I bought a gas trimmer here, and it was subsequently stolen out of my garage by some a-hole a year or so ago, so when I got my insurance money I went back to buy another one. Ron, the sales person who helped me recommended that we report the stolen item's serial number so that it can be flagged if it ever comes in for maintenance. I hadn't thought of that, and was appreciative that he took the time to run it down for me. I haven't heard anything about it turning up, but glad to know that a local place cares about individual customers. The biggest complaint I have about McDaniels is that their store brand products are generally poor quality. I bought some sprinklers and hoses that turned out to be garbage in less than one season, so I was a little bummed out--I guess you get what you pay for. Other than that, the staff is always really nice and helpful, and they generally have a decent garden selection when the time is right. We still like going here when we don't feel like driving all the way to Home Depot or Lowe's. read more
