This McDonald's appears to have some challenges. The homeless population tends to hang out at this location. Each time I go in, there is a person who has been sitting there all day and set up camp inside the store. The staff appeared to do nothing about it 1+ to this location is that they have a double drive-through, so you move really quickly through the drive-through. Even if there are several cars, you'll be in and out within 6 to 10 minutes. The staff is a little less helpful at this location. They're very stingy on condiments like ketchup. And any special request is a bother to them. read more

It's still McDonald's, but it's a fast McDonald's. The workers here actually smile, the food comes out hot, and the drive-thru moves quickly. I can't bring myself to rate any McDonald's higher than two stars on principle, yet within the category of fast food I suppose this one deserves four. If you can avoid drive-thru food, do. The app system they use is good up to the point where you pick up the order. Half the time, the cashier area is unmanned and the people in the back take great pains to avoid eye contact with customers at cashier and at the mobile pick up area. The staff in the back seem to find some obscure busywork in order to avoid dealing with customers, no matter how slow the store is. It's no use if the order is placed and readied quickly if it sits in a bag for ten minutes because the staff is busy with other projects. read more

I was using some coupons my neighbor gave me where if you buy one, you get one free. My wife and I decided to take advantage and hand out the food to some homeless. I told Kaleb what I was doing and he gladly helped me with a smile. He was friendly, courteous, professional. We started talking about life and he shared his plans in the future about how he wants to eventually pursue his career working for PG&E; however, while he's at McDonald's this young man definitely deserves a raise. My boyfriend and I had been talking about getting the McRib ever since it made a return in 2020. We finally were in the mood to get McDonald's for a late night junk food run and came to only find out the McRib is no longer available :( I guess that serves us right for waiting too long to get it haha. Since we were already in the drive through, we decided to try the new spicy crispy chicken sandwich and get an order of medium fries for ~$8 total. The sandwich was pretty disappointing -- the chicken is not crispy at all and pretty dry and the sauce is scarcely applied. The fries were also a bit soggy and there wasn't even ketchup offered or put in the bag. I would definitely rather go to fast food places like In N' Out and Chick-fil-A instead. Made an online order for curbside pickup. Waited forever, no one ever came out to my car, so went inside and my order was sitting at the counter. They made me pay for my order a second time in order to receive it, even though I showed receipt that I already paid. They were not able to explain why I had to pay again (language barrier). Who I assume to be the manager then came out and assured me that the first payment I made would be refunded and that I needed to pay again in order to receive my order. The reason was something about how I arrived after breakfast time to pick up my breakfast order, but it was clear that I payed online during breakfast hours, so the issue didn't make any sense. Regardless, I was kind to the employees about the "misunderstanding", payed a second time, and sure enough never got a refund. Customer service claims they have reached out to the store twice, and neither time has there been a response. Rarely would I find it necessary to write a bad review for a fast food restaurant, but this experience was pretty low. read more

I work in Berkeley since October 2019 and just recently I went inside McDonald's. I will admit that inside of McDonald's is good. I rather dine inside McDonald's than go through the drive-thru. Note to people that just use the restroom is that you need a token to go inside (one way to make sure people are ordering food). This McDonald's does have the kiosk where you can order your food from instead of going up to the cashier. What do I like about this McDonald's...my order was accurate from what I requested. When I ask for hazelnut cream in my coffee I actual got what I request compare to another McDonald's that I ask for Hazelnut and I did not get it. Here is what funny about McDonald's...it is only a block away from Whole Foods Market. I could had just walk here compare to driving there (I need to exercise). This was my first time going through a drive-thru and even at 5am, with the many signs, I was able to figure it out! I ordered a Bacon McGriddle and Big Breakfast. I've been to this McDonald's a handful of times, and each time, we have always used Mobile Order: Curbside pickup. Simply park in the designated 4 parking spots, place your order, and 5mins later, someone comes and brings our order out to us in our car. We often see the drive-thru line here being quite long, yet very few people seem to use the curbside pickup option. Orders have always come out fast, the employees friendly and wearing masks, and the orders correct and not missing any items (with condiments and napkins included without asking). Food has always been good and as I would expect McDonald's food to taste. Never had any quality control issues at this location. read more

And, on top of that I was also charged an additional .14 for a "surcharge" (employee said it was for the sugar???) AND an additional .25 for the disposable cup! This has got to be one of the richest neighborhoods in the country, but they are ripping off every customer and not sticking by the value of McDonald's! I really like the crispy chicken deluxe sandwich and ive had way better from other mcdonalds, I mean would you make yourself a sandwich with old lettuce, tomato ends then dog pile on mayo? Extremely rude! I ordered three waters for my three little children, verbally when I paid. Sat down at a table and went to grab my order when I saw only one. I then asked for two more and informed them I had ordered three water cups, not one. The woman gave me a hard time, refusing to give me more and citing the receipt saying I only paid for one. This has been my son's "go to" fast food place for years. It's also close to home and otherwise convenient after activity pickups or errands. And if it wasn't for that, this McDonald's is pretty consistently a 2 Star experience. McDonald's in general, is what it is food-wise (and not always cheap). And I know I shouldn't come here, yet I do. However, they could learn a lot from In/Out Burger about consistently delivering on their service model. Drive-through lines are often long and/or slow.
