I live nearby so I go here once in a while when I give into my cravings. I'm not gonna lie, I friggin love McDonald's! I don't eat there all the time, because I know their food is unhealthy (doh), but I do indulge once in a while and thoroughly enjoy my McFlurry and chicken nuggets. I've been going here for years and they have been dependable and never gave me any problems. They don't get my order wrong, their staff is always courteous, and the food is always tasty. Drive thru service is quick enough usually, even if they have a line of cars during lunch or weekends. I love that it's 24 hours, although they occasionally have the McFlurry machine break down late at night or in the very early morning hours. It's close to the baby beach and harbor, although there are many great options nearby and on the same street from $ to $$$$ options. This McDonald's has been close and reported to the orange county health department for not following the coronavirus guidelines. Aside from not being able to follow local health mandates this McDonald's serves the most horrible and horrific food in California. The drinks are never fixed the soda machine is always broken, the food is always old and it's always disgusting. The staff is rude, they get into arguments with the customers at the drive-through window at the point with the customers have to leave. Your entire afternoon staff that works right now is totally in capable of serving three cars in a line and preparing actual food for them. You need to replace the manager that works during this period. She has no skills to resolve a customer complaint, and thought she barely gave me my money back. She didn't apologize for the condition of her operation or anything she just gave me the money back after I had to Yellit her because she didn't want to. So I discovered this McDonald's while driving around in Dana Point looking for a fast food in Yelp. Oddly enough, this store wasn't listed in Yelp, so I decided to add it :-) This is a nice and neat store and it looks kind of new with modern decoration. The first McDonald's I've seen that has a complete list of nutrition facts posted on the wall. See the pictures for it. Also, you can find the name of its owner and a contact info on the wall which I thought was neat. This McDonald's has its own parking lot and a very nice outside sitting area. One thing I didn't like was that the staff didn't seem to be trained enough and didn't know about the basic things you'll see in almost all McDonald's, such as their specials. Terrible service. The food is like every other McDonald's except colder. And the inside itself is dirty and rundown. There are also always has homeless people outside. When you go through the drive through the screens are flashing or just black. When I went once my French fries were cold and when I asked the worker if I could get new ones he said "there's nothing I can do". McDonald's, needs to STOP being wasteful! There is no water fountain ANYWHERE in the dining area! The only way to get water is to ask the employee taking your order or get water from the bathroom. If you come here, you are more or less encouraged to buy a soft drink... the fact that most people do get soda here, notwithstanding. If you have a refillable canteen, don't waste your time. They will not fill it, instead giving you disposable water cups to fill it... defeating the whole purpose. I showed them my canteen to fill and I was given an inaudible acknowledgement. I handed them my canteen after paying. The employee said, "no", as another handed me two cups of water. I hadn't even the chance to say no, myself. This place has now messed up my drive through orders so comically bad the past three times we've gone there now. I even put the order in myself from the app to make sure there is no misinterpretation through the speaker, and they STILL get it so wrong. Missing items we ordered every single time. Wrong items that have things on it you asked them to remove. Even finding items in the bag we know we didn't order. I just can't even comprehend how they could mess up so bad and so often unless they just clearly aren't even trying. Tip: if you attempt to eat here, make sure you always check your order before you drive off the lot. I should have known better than to wait until we got home. We paid $53 for 3 QP burger meals, a box of nuggets, a sundae and some drinks tonight. They gave us the sundae and then made us wait 15 minutes for the food to arrive. By the time we got the hot food, the sundae was completely melted into soup. We got home to discover the fries were still partially raw, solid and mushy white, not even crispy and they had no flavor. And they forgot one of my kid's burgers and another's box of nuggets. And as if they wasn't enough, they gave us a random orange juice we did not order. I emailed corporate to demand a full refund. This McD's is friendly but slow and don't listen. We go to the area to get away on occasion and like to get breakfast. Each time, they either don't give you any of what you ask for or a HUGE handful. Case and point, today, ordered 2 sausage McMuffins and 1 hashbrown. We pay then go to next window, ask for 1 salt and napkins only. "Oh, please go to the side and park we are waiting on the hash brown". We par to the side and the manager (VERY nice) says everything is in there. Well, it is not, no salt and a TON of ketchup, why? What a waste! No salt......wife goes inside to get one packet and gal hands her a handful, of salt....really, wasteful! My friend and I went through the drive thru at 3pm & got the 6 pc chicken tenders and asked for 3 ranch and 3 signature sauces. They forgot the ranch and so we drove back after leaving the window. But not sure what their orange cone etiquette is when leading cars through drive through - if one of the intercoms is broken, then don't have cones open to said broken intercom. I deliver food through an app, (Uber eats, doordash) and its standard drives can get a free soda when picking up, he made up "a coupon" I needed for this perk. It doesn't exist and I've shown (at least tried to while he wouldn't acknowledge me) that there is no such thing. I dropped it and asked if I could just have water then and he wouldn't even look at me. Out of the 5 people I could see none was polite enough to ask me what I needed or notice that the ketchup was completely out. McDonald's are pretty much the same everywhere and we all know what we're getting into when we step into one. I come here for a quick lunch when I don't have time and this place is quick to get your order out to you, but with speed like that they tend to be sloppy when you finally receive it. I ordered one McRib combo since it's back and haven't had it in a long time and I got my order just after I filled my drink. I get it's fast food but apparently they're already made or just really fast to cook. Took my food and opened it and my sandwich was upside down.
