I hadn't been to an Auntie Anne's in a very long time. I used to frequent Auntie Anne's back when my stepmom was alive. She used to love taking me after shopping. We always got the sweet almond with the cream cheese dip. I usually take my kids to Wetzel's but thought I'd give Auntie Anne's a try. I just wanted the nostalgia and to feel close to my stepmom even for just a moment in time. Auntie Anne's, is located inside the Outlets at San Clemente, on the side closest to Nike and Converse. They are situated close to where plenty of outdoor seating is available. The establishment is small as they usually are, nothing different. It was nice, clean and airy during our visit. Service was quick and nothing special. We ordered the following; 1) sweet almond pretzel - it costs less than the bites 2) cream cheese dip for the almond pretzel - this dip is TINY! 3) plain unsalted bites 4) cheese for dipping Everything looked good but it was just looks. I was so disappointed to bite into the pretzels only to find they weren't soft (if you eat Wetzel's you'll know what I mean). They weren't stale or hard, they just weren't as soft as I'm used to. The almond wasn't as good as I remember it either. It was slightly overcooked and some areas had a weird bitterness to it. Literally broke my heart because I was thinking of my mom as I was eating it and wanted to relive the memories of us having Auntie Anne's together. Anyhoot...either way...for me it was a 2 out of 5. The kids didn't seem to notice the difference in texture and ate all of it. Would I return for Auntie Anne's? Likely no. I prefer my pretzels softer than what they offer. read more

Love Auntie Anne's! I grew up on this. I would go out of my way to come here. Got the Classic Original Pretzel, Cheese Dip, Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Nuggets, Sweet Glaze Dip and a Medium Sttawberry Lemonade, all great picks as always. My favorite is the Classic Original Pretzel. Sometimes I get the Original Pretzel Dog, delicious. I do need to try the other Pretzel flavors. It's a lot to eat one pretzel by myself, it's almost like a whole meal for me so I do like to share it. Honestly, I don't know which one tastes better, Auntie Anne's or Wetzel's Pretzels. I think I would have to do a side by side comparison to really know, both are just that good. I usually just get whatever I see first. I think in the past, over a decade ago, Auntie Anne's was better by far, but now, I don't know if both stores recipes have changed/improved because they both taste good to me. This one is in The Outlets at San Clemente. They have a lot of free parking in their lots. Price has definitely gone up over the years but I still think it's fair accounting for inflation and similar in price to Wetzel's Pretzels. Service is friendly and quick. AVOID THIS PLACE. I charge my Tesla at the mall all the time, and tried your shop multiple times. First time I asked for pretzel bites with no salt and she handed me one with salt. I told her I asked for unsalted ones, her reply was they didn't have any. I went back a week later to give them another try. This time I asked for a plain unsalted pretzel, not bites. I see a stack of plain unsalted pretzels, and the same girl from last time, goes to the a stack of salted ones, moves the top ones and grabs one underneath them. Got one pretzel for $5...this has to be one of the biggest markups in retail. Not the greatest of service! Waited about 15 minutes in line watching 5 employees wondering around with only 1 cashier when there was at least 5 people in line. When I finally was able to order....I had wanted a plain pretzel, I was sadly informed they didn't have any made and it would be about 10 minutes to make.... I love Auntie Anne's pretzel with salt. I asked for a freshly cooked pretzel and I was told it would take approximately 15 minutes to make. After 5 - 6 minutes, the lady brought me my pretzel and I noticed the bottom was burnt as she was putting it in the bag. I told her I don't eat burnt food and she told me all of the pretzels were like that. I realized the lady put salt on one of the pretzels that were already baked and that's why it was burnt on the bottom. They never seem to have any choices when I walk in and I go there like 3 times a month because of this & every time I do go they never have anything at all they always say the same thing as always "we can make you the item but you have to wait 15- 20 min". Using my Discover Card, I found a BOGO offer as I was shopping at this outdoors mall. The Auntie Anne's bakery makes everything fresh right in front of you when there is not much reserves available. Fortunately for me, I was able to see the entire process of pretzel making from start to finish, which takes exactly eight minutes. The cinnamon sugar is my favorite, and was huge when I saw the final product. I enjoy the fresh and soft taste of these pretzels, compared to the German variety, which goes better with beer or mustard. I am pretty disappointed. Went in at 7:15 on a Friday evening and they had 3 grubby little pretzels left- obviously the leftovers. The 2 girls in there were already mopping up and the oven was off while multiple people came in and left quickly realizing there was nothing left. This is the place to go for a quick snack break when you're shopping at the outlets! The pretzels were buttery and fine without salt. There's also a buy 3 get 1 free deal going on now! On top of that the girl who worked there the day I went was super sweet and friendly! My only complaint is that the pricing is different from what you see on the display. I can see if your shopping on a holiday or during a special event @ the outlets that you get less than perfect service. However I've received nothing but stellar service from the manager there. Always fresh and if they're not you can choose to wait less than 5 min.
