It is so difficult for me to rate this McDonald's. If I'm remembering correctly, it 99% has a play place. Which is a prerequisite for me for a McDonald's to get a five-star review. I've never had any issues with the food, or the service here. Another prerequisite for this to get a five-star review. So what is it that brings this down to a four star? Well, this is a freeway McDonald's. What I mean by that is this is a stop you make on the freeway if you are going across the state of Washington. Yes, I understand that people live in ellensburg, I understand that people in ellensburg eat at McDonald's. However, this store is located close to the freeway that it is a stop on the freeway. And there's the problem, it is awkwardly located to get off of the freeway, drive this far into town, it's difficult to get in and out of the parking lot, it's difficult to get in and out of the drive-thru. It just makes for an inefficient, unpleasant experience if you're stopping off the freeway for some lunch. Now, it's not as bad as any of the McDonald's in cle elum. But it's pretty bad. So overall, as a McDonald's this place is great. As a freeway McDonald's this place is somewhat lacking. read more

We will NEVER visit this Donald's again. We stopped for coffee, in the drive up window we placed our order, then watched as our coffee sat on the bar, as the kids working walked by it. And laughing.finally remembering. That she had work to do , handed the 1st coffee, then we second, but the top came odd, spilling coffee on my husband the inside of the car- a mess, as it had cream in it. We asked for napkins, but she was busy getting the lid back on and wiping he coffee off of the cup, then she tried to give half empty cup The coffee was lukewarm, which is a blessing, I guess- it could have been bad, burning my husband. My husband and I were driving back from Kennewick to Seattle area and needed to stop for some food. Big mistake to use drive thru. When we finally got to order, the order taker told us to stand by and never came back to us. In the meantime, several cars went through drive thru on other side with no problem. We left drive thru and I went in to restaurant to order. I let the mgr know what happened. Standard apology. It took another 10 minutes before I even got my order of a lg order of fries, a plain hamburger/no condiments and 2 chicken snack wraps. If we ever need to order food when on a road trip, we will avoid this restaurant like the plague. read more

When we were trying to self-order on the kiosk, there was an item that was being advertised, but we couldn't find it anywhere on the menu to add to our cart. Every time I order from this location some of my order is either completely missing or wrong. Last order they left out my sandwhich. This was a McDonald's delivery order (not DoorDash). They didn't even bring my sandwich. This morning I went through the drive thru and when I got to work noticed that gave us two ham and egg sandwiches when what we ordered was sausage egg and cheese. I am fed up. The cost of fast food is through the roof. The employers are expected to pay their employees astronomical wages and these people can't even get an order right. I'm done. Stopped in on our drive from the Walla Walla area to Seattle. Easy on/off the highway this McD's has a lot of ordering options. Sit at a table, use their app listing which table number you are sitting at (they all have numbers inscribed in the tops), and they will bring the order to you when ready. Use their kiosks to place your order, take a plastic table tent number and the staff will find you and deliver the meal to your table when ready. Order at the counter if you prefer the face to face interaction. You can also order through the app for pick up curbside, or use the drive thru. They really have you covered here. During our visit, the restaurant was clean. All the staff we encountered were friendly. The one who brought our meals to the table had a big smile and asked if we needed anything else and later another staff member bussing the dining area asked if we were 'all set'. We filled our soda cups and grabbed straws and napkins at a counter on the side of the dining area. I had to asked at the register for ketchup packets. The fries were crispy and well salted although they were pretty much all in the bottom of the bag. How does that even happen? Not a big deal, but really it's not that hard to take an extra second to place the fries in the bag instead of dumping them carelessly. Our dine-in meal was served in a paper bag as a 'to-go' meal would be. The fish sandwiches we had were just as you'd expect. They have a large indoor play set here and it was being used by a large group of kiddos. There are three monitors at a dining counter along the back wall where you can play games while you eat and a few TV's dot the dining room. Get your coffee fast; Order with the mobile app! I came in and saw lines at the store kiosks and said it's going to be awhile. Seeing the order screen with a bunch of order numbers ahead of me being prepared, I steeled myself for a long wait, but I placed my mobile order anyways, and before I expected, in about 2 minutes my number was called, not showing up on the overhead TV monitor and I had my mocha frappe ready for me. Lesson learned, use your mobile app even if you go into the store. Don't mess with the instore kiosks and don't worry about the queue on the TV screen. read more

Came in and ordered at the counter. Half our order was messed up. First we got my sundae. I asked for a hot fudge sundae with Carmel in the middle. Both were added on top, not a huge deal so whatever. Then our food came. I noticed we were missing a fry. After receiving our fry, we then noticed we were missing a cheeseburger. I had to ask 3 times, we finally received the cheeseburger, 20 minutes after our initial order time. Ice cream was melted, other food was cold. While we were waiting literally everyone who ordered inside went back up to the counter because they were missing food items or had wrong orders. The drive thru was so slow that vehicles who ordered behind me started driving away. Make sure to check your order before leaving the drive thru. I made the mistake of opening my cheeseburger after I drove an hour away and it had no beef patty. Where's the beef? I emailed management because they have an email address listed on the bottom of the receipt and I got no response. I truly think management and the employees could care less about how this restaurant operates. Update: It has been almost three weeks since emailing management and no response. I visited this McDonald's after a big event at the Gorge Amphitheatre, and it was absolutely packed with a line out the door. Fortunately they had six self-ordering stations with big screens. I loved being able to scroll through the menu, click on what I wanted, and customize as needed. There was also a cashier station if you wanted to pay cash or interact with a human. Once you order, you are given a number the employees call out when it's ready. I liked that there was a screen to show you which orders were in progress and ready in case you missed them. It took about 10 minutes to get the food, but I'll cut them some slack because the line was literally out the door and the drive-thru line in the parking lot was practically wrapped around the building. The bathroom and dining room space were both pretty clean. Overall, a good McDonald's experience! I'd much rather stop at this location than some of the others. read more

An update from a previous review. My kids love McDonald's, and it's the only one in our area for a treat once in awhile. This is the most unfriendly McDonald's. No please, no thank you, nothing nice. The lady taking the money today was so rude and impersonal. Waving me in like I was going to miss the payment area or something. Here literal words. "Insert card" (harsh tone). "remove card" (harsh tone). And nothing else. Felt like a was in a bread line in a third world country. Where is the customer service?! The appreciation with your tone? Somehow, these inconsiderate bastards manage to get confused by the word "sausage" in the title, and think that it wasn't referring to a "sausage" patty. On Wednesday, April 4 I stopped at the McDonalds in Ellensburg. Store #5297. I ordered at 5:55pm and it was shortly after that when I witnessed an incident with another customers order. I was standing at the counter waiting for my order and idly watching the employees. There were several female employees that appeared to be managers as they were doing nothing but telling others what to do. One female, the taller surly one, left with food in hand. I later saw her outside. Two other females remained in the area of the drive through and the spot where the bags are filled and the burgers are placed after preparation. The drive through had an order for a large, salt free fries. The large box of fries were set on the edge of the space where the burgers are placed after cooking. The box got knocked over and the fries spilled into the slots where the burgers were. The girl working the drive through asked one of the "managers" what to do about it. I did not hear what was said and nothing was initially done. When the rest of the order was ready the drive through worker again asked about the salt free fries that were spilled. At that point the two "managers" began scooping up the fries out of the burger slots and placing them back in the box. The girl working the drive through watched and all three were laughing. Not only did they scoop up the fries that had spilled, they did not have gloves on. I should have said something but didn't. I actually was surprised at what I witnessed and thought about saying something but who would I talk to? The perpetrators appeared to be in charge. Their behavior was appalling and certainly made me wonder about my order. This has been reported to the McDonalds Corporation, local ownership and the Washington State Department of Health. read more
