This McDonald's is located inside the Laulani shopping center with Safeway and Ross. Every once in a while, I like to take my son here to get a Happy Meal and play in the indoor Play Place. The restaurant is always clean and my food usually comes out in a decent amount of time, but this place is ALWAYS CROWDED when I go. I've been there on weekends, weekdays, during meal times, during off times, and every time I go majority of the tables are taken and the kids area is jam packed of kids playing. The kids area is enclosed and small so when those kids scream with excitement or cry at the top of their lungs when it is time to go, the sound reverberates off those close proximity walls and intensifies the sound. SO... here is my tip: bring your headphones. You don't have to blast your music to drown out the sound of the kids, just play something at a level until you can clearly hear the words. You just need to protect yourself and your sanity from those high pitch noises. I always make sure to look up every few minutes to make sure my kid is acting right as well as other's kids too. Besides, kids as I've found out, are really good on telling on each other. I've had kids come up to me and say that they don't like the fact that my son looked at them. Or that my son doesn't want to play with them. Anyways, yeah... BRING YOUR HEADPHONES if you plan on taking the kiddos to the play area and hanging out there for a few minutes. read more

This really should be one star, but I'm nice. I don't go to this McDonald's often, and I've only been to the drive-thru. (Never inside). This drive thru is the s-l-o-w-e-s-t I have ever been in. Every. Time. Even when the line is short, it takes forever. Today was the second time I've waited in that slow line only to find out that the one thing I wanted on the menu was the only thing they were out of. There should have been a sign saying that they were out of that particular item, like other places usually do. If this was the only time this happened to me at this location, I wouldn't have given a 2 star review. On another occasion - after waiting in line forever - they actually ran out of FRIES! Yes. Fries. It's a freaking McDonald's for goodness sakes, how do they run out of fries?! In my whole life I have never heard of a McDonalds running out of fries. This review is for a specific female worker that helped a client and I around 8:00 AM on the morning of 3/9/2017. I'm ashamed to have not gotten her name but I was more than happy and pleased with her level of problem-solving tactic that a lot of people, unfortunately, lack today. The client that I work with is deaf and is developmentally disabled. They know very little ASL and makes visual/gestural signs that they make up to get them by. So when my client was gesturing that they wanted a Portuguese sausage platter, they made little coin sized shapes at first which kind of threw me off a bit because they also sign this for actual money coins. The worker quickly left the register to ask the supervisor and the other workers if they had a picture of the different platters she could show us. Now, this may seem like a tiny gesture to some of you but it meant a great deal to my client and to myself. Five days a week, I practice with my client how to be independent and ordering food at a fast food joint is one of those challenges. While most times they're able to ASL and gesture their way through an order, there comes times where they, like any of us, want something different. And that becomes slightly daunting when they aren't able to communicate it. This experience is the VERY FIRST TIME a worker at a restaurant went looking for a picture to help us out. It's not to say every other fast food joint is the pits. This is mainly highlighting this specific worker and her stellar effort in recognizing what she needed to do in order to give my client the exact order she wanted. Irritating...that's all I can say. They shouldn't have opened...they don't have their processes in place and the drive-thru is terribly slow. I've had some mishaps with the orders when this place first opened, which I brushed aside since they first opened 7 months ago. Seven months later, I've had 2 experiences with not-so-good service in the past 2 weeks. Last week, I went to this McDonalds and went through the drive thru - ordered a parfait and didn't get it with my order. Had to go inside to get my parfait. Today, I ordered 20 chicken nuggets, a salad and a large water inside. The person making my order was in training and somehow added a parfait and a medium drink to my order. Had to tell the guy we didn't order it and get a refund on it. When we got our order, we didn't get dressing or a fork with the salad making us have to go back to ask for it. It seems like I've had more issues with this McDonalds than the one across the street from Burger King in Ewa Beach - which the lines actually go faster and never had to double check my bag to make sure everything was in there. This McDonald's is just ridiculous. I haven't been inside the restaurant; only used the drive-thru about 4 times now. It's conveniently located a few minutes from our home so we keep going back when we need a quick meal. I think we're over it. To start, they have an extremely limited menu. The drive-thru wait time varies, but often is quite lengthy even when there aren't many other customers. The service also varies, but at least they all seem to speak and understand English properly. Lastly, the food quality & accuracy. We haven't yet had a problem with accuracy, but the quality is somehow less than expected with McDonald's. Personally, I have pretty low expectations with most fast food establishments to start. Every single time we've gone, we order both large & medium fries. Somehow every single time, they've had the same exact amount of fries in them. And, no, I'm not saying they give way too many fries in the medium. The large amount of fries will barely fill a medium container. Then any sandwich that comes with mayonnaise, really will come with mayonnaise. ONE GIANT GLOB smack dab in the center. Anywhere from 2-3 tbsp worth, just right there, in the center, a nasty glob of mayo. Any vegetables we've gotten are pretty old and past wilting. If you're craving McDonald's, drive the extra couple of blocks to the next one. The wait time is wayyy longer, but at least there are more options. read more

Mcdonalds is normal, but the drive thru is awful. Had been overcharged once. And service is super slow. Even when there is no line. People cut in line all the time thinking that they are special and can go straight to the "second order" line. Also had an experience when I walked in and noticed people in a company van, (I don't remember which one) were so entitled that they did not have to park in a stall. Rather they were outside at the curb in the middle of the drive thru line. Mind you, there was nobody in the car and the operators decided that turning on the hazards and going inside to order and wait 15 minutes was the best option. Overall the mcdonalds just has poor service, but some of their customers are even worse. I wish they had somebody in charge of controlling the lot. read more

My daughter was so excited to try the Play Place. At our first visit, we arrived at the Play Place, only to be told by the employee that she couldn't play unless she had socks on. I get that it's new and they're going to be all hygienic and stuff because we all know how nasty it can get. Honestly? It's likely the place will get contaminated thanks to bodily fluids, not because of gruddy feet. Not to worry though - if your kid wants to play, they'll SELL you socks for $1.25. I do empathize with the underpaid McDs worker - no one likes to be the person to tell kids they can't play. But man, it was so hard telling my daughter we couldn't stay. I didn't have cash, and by this time my husband had had it with the counter people. They were slow, didn't have many of the items carried at other restaurants. We said good riddance with this place. Probably the slowest drive thru I have ever experienced. No matter what time it is. It's always slow.

I waited a few days on purpose to post this. Even contemplating not. But I will. A couple of days ago, my kids got ready for school so fast bcuz they were excited to go. So they asked if I could take them to school early...and could they get "McDonald's hash browns". Not our normal routine and I wouldn't call it a great breakfast to start the day, but it was rewarding for them to break up the monotony. So I said yes to both. Came to your store and nobody was in line inside but the drive thru was steady so I whipped in and just came inside to grab two hash browns. Walked in and everybody was jamming. Store clean. People getting it in. I spotted a row of golden brown hash browns that looked so good I thought about getting a couple for myself.(but I knew my daughter wasn't gonna finish hers) Everybody had their backs turned for a few seconds before the associate on the register noticed me over her shoulder. And when she started to turn, I was preparing my mouth to speak my order, but she turned and walked down to the next associate and whispered something to her, then that associate turned and looked at me then looked away and they both started giggling. So by now if you can imagine my feeling right then like...wtf? So she turns and walks back towards the register and when I think she's about to take my order...SHE TURNS HER BACK TO ME AGAIN! and starts redoing what she was doing when I walked in for about two seconds then turned to me and asked to take my order. And when she tried to look me in the face...the look of disgust I was giving her she couldn't even look me in the eyes. And I'm 6'1 jet black and ugly as hell...it was a little more than silent exchange aside from me saying "2 hash browns" and she knew why... As I waited for my order, which came quickly, I composed myself got over it and when she called my number, I happily and humbly took my kids order, looked her in the eyes smiled and said thank you and have a great day. Bcuz I learned and accepted something by your actions. And I am also very proud of myself. Bcuz the old me would have verbally let you know of my distaste for what was obviously and blatantly happening to me. But I think i said more with my facial expression than I could have spoken. I pulled into the Ross parking lot to swallow the portion of my pride that you jammed down my throat at 7:20am and had a convo with my kiddos while they giggled and ate their lil greasy ass hash browns. Moral of the story, knock it off with the bs as if ppl are stupid. Plus you don't know what be going on in some of these people's minds while you are making blatant jokes about customers and thinking that counter protects you. Shouldn't do things like that ma'am.
