Turning Point is such a great place to go for breakfast. It's lively, warm and inviting and the hostess greets you with a smile soon as you walk in the door. The place was clean and everything is well presented. The menu contains so many choices, from french-pressed coffees, to lattes, fresh juices, pancakes, waffles and sandwiches. They even have vegan options which I thoroughly enjoy. The vegan pancakes are the best in the area but bring a hearty appetite for real. The first time we visited, our waitress was Dasia. Even though the restaurant was pretty busy, she greeted us with a warm smile and great attitude. She took the time to explain the menu and offer suggestions. We started with the french pressed coffee and drinks and hot cinnamon rolls. For breakfast we ordered the vegan pancakes and sub eggs, pavo cubano and berry chocolate pancakes with eggs. The entire time Dasia kept checking on us and keeping us informed on the status of our order. Once the meals came, she made sure we were satisfied with our food. Checked on us several times which was great service. Everything was really good and hot. Shout out to the kitchen staff and cooks. Dasia put the C in customer service. Was looking forward to trying this place with a friend since we both are a fan of a good brunch. Unfortunately, I didn't love my food. Maybe i just ordered the wrong thing. I might try again since I like the atmosphere and the service- and the fact that they do French press with lots of selections. Don't waste your money on the special lobster avocado toast though - it is not worth the extra money! Pros: Staff was friendly and helpful. D'Asia got us a table outside even though they hadn't been seating out there yet because of a potential for rain. We got no rain and it was a nice day to sit outside. Inside is clean, bright and has maybe a minimalist modern farmhouse vibe. Menu has a decent amount of selection without being overwhelming with some unique looking opportunities. Cons: My friend ordered the classic eggs Benedict and I got one of the lobster specials- the lobster avocado toast. Not sure how long these specials are around . I asked for the eggs over medium and the toast to be extra crispy because avocado toast is not good when it's all soggy. When I got my order it seemed like the multigrain bread did not get toasted at all- maybe it was lightly toasted at one point, but it certainly was never crispy and there were no toast marks on it. There was not a lot of flavor to the toppings so I was hoping that it would save the whole thing but it was just kind of a soggy mess and frankly the lobster was kind of fishy. Also, the eggs were not done over medium as I requested. I could've gotten over this if the meal itself was any good but it was all pretty disappointing. I think if I ever dare to order the avocado toast here at some point I will definitely ask for the toast on the side lol When I asked to substitute the greens, which comes as a side automatically but costs $3.50 if added I was told potatoes were the only option to be subbed. I wanted some more protein so asked about subbing bacon and just paying the extra .25 over what the potatoes cost as a side (4.50) but was told I'd have to pay for it is as a separate side entirely, which is $4.75. No turning point is probably not the only restaurant doing this but it's pretty frustrating and unexplainable as to why I don't get at least the $3.50 credit that the greens would be. Or how about you just take the greens off and I get $3.50 back lol. D'Asia was kind enough to offer me an alternative by getting crushed bacon on top of my avocado toast for a dollar extra which I was glad I did because it was definitely needed to help with the flavor on the toast! And D'Asia was kind enough tonight charge me the extra dollar in the end. Unfortunately, I still got served the greens anyways which I was trying to avoid since cyclaspora is a thing these days My friends classic egg Benedict was just ok. She did find a hair in it, but she couldn't swear it wasn't hers because it was a windy day. Finally, it was troubling that there was absolutely zero toilet paper in the women's bathroom. According to my husband, this is the best coffee he's had in Virginia. This little breakfast spot is about 20 minutes outside of Richmond and is well worth the drive. It's inviting, and clearly a local favorite because it fills up quickly. I'd recommend arriving early, especially on a Sunday, if you want to avoid the wait. It's funny that the reviews say this is "well seasoned". our food was the most bland breakfast i think i've ever had. it was very pricey as well for very basic food. i would unironically eat at waffle house before i came back here. i don't like a ton of spice, but there was no salt, no seasoning ok the hash browns besides a tiny bit of pepper, and the bacon tasted microwaved. i will say the iced coffee was really good. the service was good and the inside was clean and pretty. other than that, i would skip. read more

Really enjoyable little breakfast/brunch/lunch spot in the west end. This is a chain but the only location so far in Virginia. Space-wise it is wide open. Lots of high and low top tables, a counter, a large table (10 seats maybe) and lots of space in between. Everything is clean and bright. There is a large gas fireplace to one side that puts out PLENTY of warmth. Menu is very good -- see photos. Salads, eggs, smoked salmon, paninis, phillies, wraps, burgers, big waffles and pancakes. Don't skip past the cinnamon rolls, which come out hot and fresh and are iced table-side (!!!) Coffee is french pressed -- SIX VARIETIES OF COFFEES TO CHOOSE FROM. I really enjoyed the "Perfect Pear Flatbread" with the accompanying mixed greens. The flatbread has pears and ham and caramelized onions and arugula and a balsamic glaze. All components were bold enough to stand out. The flatbread itself was a bit hard to cut with the available knife so just crease it and then tear into it by hand. Wyfe's "Classic Benedict" was excellent -- great hollandaise and perfectly poached eggs. The only misstep on the plate was the breakfast potatoes. They were seasoned well and had great flavor but the cook was inconsistent -- some were hard like they had been sitting and some seemed undercooked. Not bad enough to send back but bad enough that we told the server. The server -- ZOIE -- is a charm! She was so attentive without seeming phony. We did notice more servers than a typical restaurant of this size would normally have. And listening to them work with other tables, everyone seemed professional and cheery and helpful. I'd never heard of this restaurant chain until it came to Glen Allen area. The staff are all friendly and look forward to making recommendations upon asking. The coffees are all fresh and huge, and definitely worth a try. I've tried the seafood or shrimp omelette and they are huge. Probably a bit too much food for me. So on this particular visit I tried an egg sandwich. This establishment is from up North, so they had Jersey Pork Roll. So opted for that, which is always a treat and this sandwich was great. This is a cute smaller place that while it isn't local, gives the service and vibe of a local diner. I am from New Jersey, so I was familiar with Turning Point walking into their Short Pump restaurant. My mom and I were seated promptly. Their coffee is delightful, so I started with a latte. For my meal, I ordered way too much food but couldn't help myself. I ordered the cinnamon roll pancakes, plus sides of pork roll and scrambled eggs, which also came with a salad. Everything was absurdly good. My mom had a chicken sandwich, which she loved. I appreciate that they expanded to Virginia soooo much. It's great to have them close by! A really nice breakfast place that hits all the marks. Here's the deal: Ambiance is relaxed, with bright, natural lighting and a bigger seating space than I expected from the outside, able to accommodate parties up to 10. Extremely clean and well presented. The tables are a little close for my personal preference but that's just me. Service was with a smile. The menu was reviewed by our server along with specials and how to earn rewards. While we had a main server the style is a team service effort which was nice as we were very well attended. The food is good! The menu is more limited compared to some restaurants, however what we had was very good. I would much rather have options done really well than an extensive menu with mediocre dishes. Everything was fresh including the coffee. My wife ordered avocado toast, which she often has, and said this was the best she had in a a long time, with quality oil, a touch of lemon and a good wheat bread. My dish was an omelette which had plenty of ingredients and was cooked just right. Prices were average/ reasonable for portions and amount. Uncharacteristically slow with some mistakes. We've been going to Turning Point since it opened and have always had a great time. Our visit today was disappointing and not what we've come to expect. The one bright spot was our server, who was extremely polite and consistently checked up on us. That said, it took over 30 minutes to receive two egg dishes and a sandwich for a party of 3. I don't know what the industry standard is for a mostly breakfast restaurant, but that wait time is much too long. We're taking a break from Turning Point. Whether that becomes permanent remains to be seen. read more

I met a friend for lunch and we were both impressed with look and feel of the restaurant as well as the service and food. The staff seemed very eager to serve and the manager checked on us several times. I ordered the pick two and got the chop salad and the chicken salad sandwich. Both were excellent and the salad was big enough to fill me up and I took the half sandwich home. My friend ordered eggs and her meal was cooked perfectly. The new TP in Glen Allen is a nice addition for breakfast. The atmosphere is casual but cozy. The servers are friendly and actually have personaltities. They didn't serve alcohol but were told by the end of the month, that'll be corrected. Just to be clear TP has no connection to Turning Point, USA. Luckily there were 2 seats at the counter so we didn't have to wait - we were grateful but hoped being so busy was a good sign. It was! Had some smashed avacado on it, but about half of it was brown and nasty had to pick it out. At a $20 price point for these 2 items I expected more. And an egg white omelette that had a wedge of avacado on top that looked good, unlike my smashed avacado that was hidden under my overcooked scrambled eggs. Definitely needs an additional element. Perhaps a spicy sauce? Maybe a spicy aioli? Quite dry. Next up the stack, could have been a winner...Too much onion, not enough spinach and bacon.
