Update September 2026. We visited this location a few times during this vacation for both breakfast and dinner and it did not disappoint. Last year's experience wasn't so good but a new year with employees who were very friendly made for an excellent quick meal. Employees super nice and food was consistently good. Ordered our fries without salt so they would be hot and freshly cooked and they were the best fries I've had in awhile! We didn't eat inside this year and just did the ordering on the app with pick up in the drive-thru - then we parked and enjoyed. Everything was great this year! Highly Recommend read more

WORKER EXTREMELY RUDE. When I drove up to receive my food I was greeted with rude commentary, I've come to this McDonald's multiple times and have been met with the same rude cashier with the same rude remarks Always talking under her breath saying annoying and rude commentary whenever im trying to get my food I didn't get a good look at her name tag but I believe her name is queeni and they have been rude multiple times with multiple different people I know This Mc Donald's really needs to work on hiring more respectful employees. read more

We have driven by this McDonalds several times since arriving in Maui for vacation and finally on our last full day I stopped in to pick up breakfast. I should have been stopping in more often, this has been the only place I found to get large fountain drinks. For breakfast I got a couple of Egg McMuffins. The quality was the same as any other McDonalds, which is good and reliable. They have a drive thru but I opted to park and go inside where I encountered a sign that said to order at the kiosk. I prefer ordering with a person but my simple order was easy to do at the kiosk, although slower. The food and drink were ready in just a couple of minutes and I was happily on my way. read more

We needed to get a quick bite to eat. I really didn't want to eat here, but it was something quick. I should have trusted my instincts. The large fries were not filled to capacity, it was more like a small. The thing is a large fries aren't cheap, it's at least 6 bucks as much as a cost of a burger. The quarter pounder was dry. The meat was overcooked. It just tasted bad. There are so many other places we could have eaten at, but this was the quickest. One of the few cheap food options in the resort area and you know what you're getting. A simple reminder of "home" since can't go wrong with McD's fries and an ice cold Coke. Ordering was quick and easy via the app, though definitely less deals here than usual since it's Hawaii. Pretty par for the course in general. Workers were friendly and location is slightly hidden right off the hwy, though you could miss it if not looking. Pleasant time at this McDonald's in Lahaina, Maui. One of those rare times that I got to take my Wife to a McDonald's restaurant. She happens to be a fan of McDonald's breakfast in Hawaii. In Hawaii, they make some different items that are not found in the Mainland McDonald's restaurants. She ordered the Local Deluxe Platter. I ordered the Hotcakes and Sausage plate. My order was correct, and it tasted fine. Her order came with Spam, Portuguese Sausage, Eggs, and Rice. Don't find those tasty food at the Mainland branches. The restaurant itself was clean. Customer service was average. Nice cheap breakfast compared to most spots in Maui. Don't forget to use your McDonald's App for better deals. read more

This was an alright McDonald's visit. The service wasn't speedy-fast, fast-food but it was quicker than most places to sit and eat. You do order at a kiosk which can be annoying and time consuming. There's no playground. One door in, the other for leaving. It wasn't busy at all and there was maybe one other guy there when we placed our order. It was mostly clean inside. Overall looks inside is more urban, modern and colorful. They play Hawaiian music so that sets the ambience. The food itself is pretty typical for McDonald with some Hawaiian specific dishes. We got the rice, spam and Portuguese sausage with no egg and it was good if you like that kind of food. I do but not everyone enjoys meat from a can. My gripes about my visit were that they shorted me one hash brown, and skipped the sugar in my coffee. You order drinks at the kiosk and they fill them instead of using the machine in the lobby. Parking was open and free which was nice. I recommend ordering some pies, they were hot and fried nice and crispy. Compared to mainland McDonald's locations this one is a little more costly. read more

After reading some of the negative reviews we were concerned about going to the Kahana McDonalds but we went anyway to see for ourselves. The kiosk was easy to order from and actually easier than explaining to person that we want NO Onions but we do want extra pickles. We entered our order at 7:50 pm and at 8:00 pm our meals were served at our table. The fries and the hamburgers were hot and all the server had all the condiments and extra napkins on the cart. ... A visit to McDonald's in Maui? Indeed! Since there is only one known California location (in So Cal) that still carries the deep fried apple pie, Hawaii is the place to go to get a taste of this nostalgic classic. The online ordering system and the mobile kiosks for this location were all down the day we visited. We placed our order of 15 pies, a few fries and 40 nuggets at the counter. This order was to supplement the other dishes on our menu for dinner that night in our timeshare. The wait for the food was over 20 minutes even though they weren't busy. My wife insisted we come here to try some of the "Hawaii" exclusive menu items, she thought it was so alluring there were McDonalds that cooked riced and sliced spam. We needed to eat fast and early and it was an ideal stop for us in the morning. Big Breakfast platter: comes with rice, eggs, Portuguese sausage, and spam. Everything was ready in 2-3 minutes and it was all decent. I couldn't help but feel we were taking money away from a an independent restaurant but I'm sure this franchise cost a lot and it was honestly very cost effective compared to what we would have spent. I got the spam, eggs, and rice dish and was surprised at how crazy my kids were for it. Both have egg allergies and dealt with itchy tongue and hives just to eat this plate. They had a deep fried apple pie everyone also loved, most times nostalgia colors memories of food better than it was actually was. The apple pie here was better than the one I remember having as a kid in a brown and green little fold up box. Hawaii is the only state in the US you can still get deep fried pies. read more

We did a drive through order for the taro pie! We can only find taro pie every so often as it is seasonal. This trip to Maul we were in luck! This location was right off Honoapiilani highway and was easy to get to. Staff at the drive through was friendly. As I write this in early January 2024, this McDonald's is OPEN again. The location is geared towards drive-through, pick-up, and delivery. There is a counter and indoor seating, but they have taken a backseat to other modes of service. Heck, I parked and had to ask where the front door was, because it wasn't apparent and no one was going in or out. The order board seemed to be having problems. Also,cthey were taking down holiday decorations, some of which were behind the counter and blocking the board. Love it or hate it, it's McDonald's. You know what you're getting. I got my food quickly, and the quality was fine (fresh Big Mac, crispy fries). This location does a good job in getting you your food quickly - however you want to receive it - so you can be on your way. Easy access from Honoapiilani Highway and Lower Honoapiilani Highway. read more

When visiting Hawaii, I like going to McDonald's for the local breakfast. That deep fried taro fried pie is always delightful! The Portuguese sausage, spam, eggs, and rice is a guilty pleasure and inexpensive. Always a fan of McD's decaf coffee. During our visit in November 2021, the cashiers were behind a plexiglass and the lobby is closed off. There were no outdoor trash cans so eating in the car was not a good option. We walked over to a coffee shop's outdoor table at the strip mall, then made a small purchase there and enjoyed our breakfast. When back in this part of Maui again, would definitely pay a visit. Always a great place to stop and grab a Sausage Egg McMuffin for breakfast. Maui is way more expensive than California but that's to be expected. So I ordered my regular Mickey D's Breakfast - 2 Sausage Egg McMuffins and a large Diet Coke. It came to almost $13! California it's $6.50. Okay. The next day I discovered that I was overcharged which makes it a little better. They have a twofer deal at 8.98 - which I didn't get...no biggie. I'll remember next time. But the sandwiches were PERFECT! Hot, Fresh, attractive, and TASTY! Definitely one of my favorite fast-food breakfast sandwiches. Coming from the Mainland (Continental USA), we heard that Hawaii McDonald's had some regional exclusive menu items not found elsewhere as exclusive unique offerings. We went for breakfast and they had 2 dishes, one featuring Portuguese Sausage, Eggs and Steamed White Rice; and the other one had the same, plus Fried Spam. The food was okay, and about $6-7 each entree, so not fast food cheap, but also it was prepared as decently and close to restaurant quality freshness as their peers. I'm not huge on those dishes in general, I like but don't love 'em, so feel they were on par and okay. I heard that after breakfast, McD's in Hawaii offered Saimin (Ramen noodle soup), but I didn't see anything but the electronic breakfast menu, so can't confirm what was offered beyond what we saw for breakfast. Overall, it was a good average "a-okay" experience from parking to service to price to portions to food quality. read more

This McDonalds is so poorly organized. I placed an order for some breakfast items, a pie, two slushees, and Saimin and it took over an hour to arrive. The only reason our order arrived was because we came up to ask what took so long and the cashier said that our order was up on the screen so long that it got removed an no one was making it. It's now an hour and I'm planning on asking for a refund. I would steer clear of this place. This is my nearest McDs and it never ceases to disappoint unfortunately. The ice cream machine is always broken, and today the monitors on the drive through were broken too. I was trying to choose a quick breakfast and asked what the options were since the screen was defunct and I didn't have my phone to look up the app online. The gal at the drive through was rude and seemed surprised that I hadn't memorized the entire menu! After ordering the first thing she said, a McMuffin, it arrived with the muffin half off and cheese sticking to the paper. Not exactly appetizing. As a traveler, I also like to visit all the McDs worldwide to try their local menu. Here, I tried their haupia pie (coconut filling) and their spam breakfast. I was hoping for a spam burger but it wasn't available. The haupia pie is delicious! I wanted to buy more and take some on the plane with me! The spam breakfast came with rice and scrambled eggs. I was pretty blown away by the service we received at this McDonald's in Kahana this morning!!!! The service here was just MIND BLOWING I tell you!!!! Let me tell you my story........... I had dropped by this McDonald's early this morning after flying in from Oahu. I decided to come here, as I needed something fast & quick, as I had to be in a bank by 8:00 am, and being that I was up since 3:30 am, I really had to get something in my stomach. Upon walking into this McDonald's restaurant, I see a long line..........maybe about 8 to 10 people deep............ with another 6 or so people waiting by the ordering counter, as they had already placed their food order, and were waiting for their food. Now here's the kicker............as long as the line was in the restaurant, there was ABSOLUTELY NOBODY at the ordering counter taking food orders...........therefore, people who were standing in line were just waiting for a worker to come from back of the cooking area, to the front of the ordering counter to take customer orders. This went on for about 5 to 10 minutes before someone finally came to the ordering counter to take customer orders. Strike one! Now here's the finale.............. When I finally got to the order counter (after waiting in line for about 15 to 20 minutes), I tell the lady - Me: Can I get the (2) Breakfast Sandwiches for $4.00 deal? (As I was trying to buy a sandwich for myself, & coworker) McDonald's Clerk : Oh no, the $4.00 promotion has ended, there is no $4.00 deal! Me: I then tell the clerk............I see, then why are you still advertising the $4.00 deal on your electronic menu then?????? McDonald's Clerk: Then turns to the McDonald's manager, & the McDonald's manager tells the clerk to give me the $4.00 deal. She in turns starts punching up stuff on the register...........I see her punch up random amounts like - $9.36, then $5.71, then $4.63, then $6.51. After trying all kinds of stuff on the register, she tells me that she could not punch up the $4.00 deal, so she tells me if $6.51 was "Okay?", as she didn't know how to ring me up for the $4.00 deal! I in turn looked at my coworker (he gives me the "what the hell" look)............... then I then tell the McDonald's clerk............"that's okay", and we promptly left the restaurant. STRIKE OUT!!!!! From there, I went across the parking lot & walked into the - Hawaiian Village Coffee. No, the Hawaiian Village Coffee didn't have the inexpensive breakfast sandwich I was looking for.........in fact, I didn't even get my sandwich, as I ended up buying some very expensive donuts, as Hawaiian Village Coffee features donuts from - "Donut Dynamite". (see my review of Donut Dynamite). I really hate to write bad reviews, but this particular McDonald's I went to absolutely does not live up to the McDonald's standards, as far service goes, and if corporate McDonald's knew about this restaurant, I'm sure they would intervene. read more
