This McDonald's is in a touristy area so it's always very busy. The staff was kind and the lobby was tidy.

They need more workers, it's so frantic that our order was completely wrong. Ordering for a picky child that cannot eat cheese but it sooo excited for his hamburger and fries is difficult. It was my fault for not checking before I drove away but I saw the white hamburger wrapping and drove away, not a hamburger but a DOUBLE cheeseburger. Whoops! Needed a quick lunch, as I work downtown and had a bunch of errands to run.. Tried one of their signature burgers with fries and a diet dr. Pepper. The signature bacon burger with an onion ring or two on it and was actually pretty gross. Theburger patty was so dry that it looked like it had been sitting for over an hour somewhere, the fries were not hot and just mediocre. Best thing about this meal was the damn diet dr. Pepper. So I'm not kidding, I found something else on the menu that is semi-appropriate to eat... Grilled Chicken... EDIT: they may be white at night I know, I know it is McDonalds and luxury should never be in the same sentence, however I am an soft serve fanatic, and McDonalds is a huge player in the soft serve game. Long story short, I have had some really bad experiences with soft serve, that includes sundaes, cones, and Mcflurry type frozen desserts. A lot of places the soft serve is very soft, or they skimp you on one or two items like the nuts or the Reese's peanut butter cups, but this place DELIVERED! I don't typically eat at McDonalds and I don't typically drink coffee, so I got a lesson in how the combination of the two can work the other week and it was a bit of an eye opener. I'm in the back seat of the car (breakfast already in stomach) - experienced McDonalds breakfast eaters are in the front and we're in the drive through line - I had no clue that when you ordered coffee, you could specify how much cream, how much sugar or sweetener and what kind of sweetener you wanted in said coffee - I was impressed as it's a lot more complicated than my most complicated drive through consideration ("no cheese!"). Most McDonald's places are pretty quick when it comes to serving food, but this place seems to be so focus in giving mobile and drive in customer orders quicker service then the customers eating in, I went in and waited almost 30 minutes to get my food and this was after I got tired of waiting for my food seen them go out to the curb to give customer their orders, the girl just said sorry I'll be out in a minute? The kids wanted McD's for breakfast and it's accessible by car from our hotel, which makes it conveinent. They have a drive through and a fairly large parking lot. No play structures for tykes compared to other McD's. Other fast food places in the area include Carl's Jr. and Jack-In-The-Box. This remodeled location is nice inside, and the new self-ordering screens are welcome and great. But it seems they still haven't figured out the service end of things. There's not much point in self-ordering and going to my table to wait for lunch to be brought to me if I still have to get up multiple times after that. They *always* forget the drink cup, so I have to get up and ask for that. And they always forget to include ketchup for the fries, so I have get up again and walk over to the counter and get ketchup. How hard can it be to think of these things? I mean, after you get it wrong once and get an annoyed customer asking you about it, don't you think you'd never forget again after that? Killing time before our movie, my friend and I decided to stop in on our way back to Pacific Grove. Wow, they've definitely classed up the place--the inside is actually nicer than some formal restaurants I've been in! But one look at the menu, and you remember you're in McDonald's. My friend and I ordered some fries and apple pies to go to bring to the movie--the first time I'd eaten McDonald's food in over five years (maybe more?). I forgot how much I like McDonald's fries--don't judge! Sure, they're a little salty, but honestly, I think they're the best of all fast food spots. And those apple pies--they're actually pretty good too, and a bargain at two for $1. They did a remodel on this location. Long tables that I guess you are supposed to share with strangers. You have to order yourself now on a board that everyone else touches. No hand sanitizer next to it so if someone sick uses it everyone else gets their germs! If you no longer want to provide customer service at least put sanitizer next to each order boat. I called the main office and someone called me and said they had hand sanitizer but it's broken. They do not care. They do not have covers for the toilet seats either. My friend and I were excited to by chance pass this McDonalds with a uniquely black 'M', and it's elegant chandeliers and decor. We thought it would be a pleasant and much more up scale service, but we were mistaken. Although in awe of it's bougie exterior, we quickly noticed that it's service was below par; worse we'd even say than the local McDonalds in our hometown, Imperial Beach. (Shoutout to Hugo, this Mcdonald's best and most laid back employee.) Anyway, my friend and I placed 2 seperate orders for a simple fudge sundae each. I received mine promptly. However, for whatever odd reason my friend did not have the same fate . She waited a whole 30 minutes for the employees to make her dessert. This was most unforeseen. When she received it it was obviously rushed and had only a very scarce amount of chocolate fudge. Needless to say she, and I too, were most disappointed.
