Worst service I ever experienced and isn't the first time. I came in at 5:30 am for breakfast on my way off base and they open at 5 am. Went through the drive through and no one answered the voice box, drove up to the window and someone saw me but didn't answer the window, just waved. Me and my friends went around to the front and knocked on the door, seen someone wiping the counter top by the cashiers. We knocked and he looked at us and didn't answer the door so we kept knocking for about 15 minutes... irritating that someone could literally see you there and look and just pretend your not there and they already been open for over 30 minutes like what's the hold up? This is the WORST McDonald's I have ever visited. The first time I went the food was ok and I though..it must have just been bad bash. My husband went on his lunch break and he come home that night explaining how bad the customer service was as well as the food. He said his burger tasted like stright chemical and plastic. This place is run VERY poorly. I have yet to have gone to this location without at least ONE thing missing, wrong, or having to wait an absurd amount of time. Service is extremely slow and unorganized. I once ordered curbside drop off in the app and sat over 30mins for the food to be brought out to us. They never came and I went in to get the order and still had to wait another 10mins to get a happy meal for my kid. After a long day at work we just wanted something close and preferably drive thru so we decided to give this location another shot. The line was long but we decided to wait since cooking was not an option. We waited for what seemed like forever (to be honest I don't know the exact amount of time but it was at least 20mins). We finally get up to order and they say they are only accepting cash. I was very upset that we waited that entire time to only be turned away and STUCK longer in a dead end line. No one came out to tell us it was cash only, there was no signs or anything. We wasted so much time to yet again, to not only be served horrible customer service , but leave empty handed. The guy that took my order was rude and didn't seem to happy to be working there. Then we pull up to the second window and waited for our food for nearly 15 minutes. During the entire time I was waiting I got to listen to all the employees joking off and messing around. They're slow and get my order wrong 90% of the time. I'm lactose intolerant and every time I order no cheese I end up getting cheese. They don't know how to make their coffees. Whenever I order a mocha I end up getting hot chocolate. I've walked in to exchange for the right order, and I've called multiple times to let them know they messed up my order. If you are on Camp Pendleton for any reason, avoid this particular McDonalds. The management is obviously incompetent. Note to management: on weekdays, the hours between 11:00-13:00 are called lunch. You should staff your restaurant accordingly. Instead, you have 4 personnel in the back in the preparation area, 2 on the register, and 2 who for some reason are patrolling the lobby, randomly wiping tables off, then sitting down or standing for a few minutes before repeating the same process. During the lunch hours, you need personnel on the register and in the back. The issue seems to be like most things with the government. Since this McDonalds already has a lease space or agreement with the Marine Corps base/garrison authority, it seems they can give as poor a level of service as they want, with zero reprocussion. I went again today against my better judgement, having had a similar bad experience back about 2 months ago. I should have listened to my instincts. If you're on the Naval Hospital or Del Mar area, go to In and Out if you need a burger. You'll get better food and much better service. read more

I hate to be the person that reviews a McDonald's but it needs to be done. This is by far the worst McDonalds I have ever been to. I have waited 40+ minutes in the drive thru, heard managers yelling and employees, and have to scream at the intercom for people to hear. They still continue to mess up our order and serve food that seems to have sat and become incredibly rubbery. This McDonald's is one of the only fast food places on this side of a Marine corps base and service members are forced to spend nearly their entire lunch break in the line and that's even if they get a lunch break that day. There are ALWAYS new people because the turn over rate is so high and they can't even take more than one order at a time usually. I used to work in fast food where we served steak and eggs for breakfast and full dinners and we would be timed on how long it takes and if there was a customer that did take a long time because that had a large order or whatever we would pull them forward (which this location even has 5 spots that are reserved for the drive thru) and they NEVER pull people forward. They always ask you to wait to take your order even if there is only one car ahead of you. It blows my mind. When I worked in fast food we were timed on how quickly we answered and we were timed on how fast we got the order out. We also had to take multiple orders at once all while not using an automated machine while filling the sodas and had to use a handle blender to make shakes. That was 1 person who was in charge of drive thru. Not two people at the first window another one at the second and multiple people covering the dining area. Honestly it just blows my mind how incredibly horrible the service is here. All of the people are rude and the equipment must be horrible because people can never hear me and then act like I'm being rude when I'm just trying to order food. This place needs to close for two weeks and hire an all new staff and management that actually cares. This place shouldn't be some horrible place to work where everyone hates their job so much they can't keep anyone on staff long enough to actually know what they are doing. Sad that this is one of the only options for many of the men and women that serve this country. I'm not saying they deserve special treatment, but if you are going to be one of the few options on the base then bare minimum you should have an establishment that runs smoothly. read more
