Am I trying to 1-up Morgan Spurlock & somehow claim that Big Macs are a bigger risk for lung cancer than cigarettes? I sometimes say some crazy sh!t, but not quite that crazy. What I am saying is that McDonald's is the master of marketing to children, just like Big Tobacco was before laws banning cigarette smoking cartoon characters were passed. With the girlfriend, I am a firsthand witness to the power of the McDonald's marketing machine, its effectiveness at targeting children & its ongoing legacy. When she was little, fun road trips always began with getting something to eat at McDonald's. Fast forward to today & this is something she still seeks out. She doesn't even like McDonald's all that much & I'm not really a fan either, but there we were at a McDonald's in Pleasanton getting something to eat. We were on our way to a 3-day weekend getaway in Yosemite & this was her childhood fun road trip precursor all over again. This particular McDonald's was clean, brightly lit & not too busy when we were there. It seemed like this may have been the 1st job for the person who took our order. He stumbled & fumbled his way through ringing up our order, but eventually got it right. I decided to try the 1/3 lb. Angus Bacon Cheeseburger. There was a $1 Medium Iced Coffee promo, so I got that too. The girlfriend got a Filet-O-Fish, which she has a peculiar affinity for, & a Medium Iced Coffee as well. True to fast food, our order was up shortly. My 1/3 lb. Angus Bacon Cheeseburger was pretty decent for McDonald's. It's not a fast food burger game changer, but it was OK. The Iced Coffee was also OK. But considering I'm a cream & sugar in my coffee kind of guy, it had too much cream & sugar for my taste. The girlfriend claimed to enjoy her Filet-O-Fish & Iced Coffee. I'm really not sure. I suspect the effectiveness of the mighty McDonald's marketing machine had more to do with it than the flavor of the food. Oddly enough, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Spending a few bucks occasionally at McDonald's to bring back some of that happiness from our early years isn't a bad thing at all. read more

Went through the drive thru. They have double lanes here, and only had one person taking orders. When my turn came, they took two people from the other lane before taking my order; let's just say that I was less than thrilled. I have not visited a McDonalds in 1.5 years, but the bacon egg & cheese biscuit called to me. I did find trace amounts of bacon but didn't taste it. The hash brown was cold, even though it was the first item I tasted, and in the parking lot no less. The black coffee I ordered had a hearty dose of vanilla creamer; I didn't know they did that here, but I didn't want dreamer, nor did I order. Fail, 0 for 4: drivethru, biscuit, hash brown and coffee all had faults. I'll be taking another hiatus now. read more

Unfortunately, my friend forgot to hit record or this magic moment would've been priceless. True story- this was a few years ago. Five stars for the reaction. (Kudos to the lady behind the counter who rolled with it with a sense of humour. The second place we went wasn't quite as successful.) One star for the food. Just was there this noon .Rude manager , not apologizing for mistake. They had me wait for 10 minutes in the car because my mobile order of 1 bigmac and 1 quarter pounder was not ready and when I step out of my car and go inside they are confused and can't explain what happened to my order. When I talk to manager instead of apologizing he tells me I should have continued waiting till they come.in fact they have me wait at the front of the drivethrough exit and the guy was taking the food to the parking lot in front of the entrance. Still the manager said to me specifically that he will not apologize for their mistake. The reason I use their stupid application is to get to my food faster than waiting in line . If I had asked for a grilled cheese then that's what I would have said. When I went inside to ask for the egg they said they can't make it egg only without the sausage. ZERO STARS!!! really!!! This franchise owner needs to FIRE the entire staff and start all over again!!! Ok, one star for being 24 hrs. First visit: Drive thru. The j.erkoff taking the order mumbled and already sounded frustrated. After asking a simple question, "is the Orange Hi-C drink like soda or juice?" His reply, "Yeah it's a soda". Food was fine. But the service leaves much to be desired. While in the drive thru, when I pulled up to get my food the man asked me to pull over and park. No explanation. I pulled over, then watched as 4 cars passed me by with their food already. I got out of my car to take look before a lady came out to give us our food. I asked her for an explanation but she didn't know. I then tried to ask the man at the window for an explanation but he refused to answer. Obviously this isn't a huge deal in the grand scheme of things. But this was the first time I've ever experienced this; I don't think this is standard operating procedure for drive thrus. We speculated that thy might have gotten our order wrong and wanted us to wait, but even so I don't think they normally make you wait like that. Oh well. Whoever worked the front gave off a rude vibe. Shouldve explained things better. Went to buy the happy meal toys only for my nephew but they wanted to charge full price. Also, their prices are higher than other McDonald's that I went to. We ended up going to another McDonalds (folks, go to the BETTER location off Vasco. Staff is 1000% better), where the employee working the register explained all the rules about purchasing the toy/cards/whatever. Avoiding this place at all costs. As any good McDonald. This one has my double quarter Pounder with cheese. Ever since McDonald's came out with this new version of the quarter pounder I think it taste much better. He has more meat it does taste a little more fresh. One thing I don't like about this McDonald's is that it's crowded in there consistency is not there of been here a number of times and each time the service is different sometimes super slow sometimes good so I have to only give it three stars. read more

Wanted to like this location........couldn't. Older 90's style restaurant. Piss/soapy smell emanating from the men's bathroom. Worn down brooms left throughout the restaurant, waiting for customers to trip on them or use as weapons. Up at the front counter, trash & debris accumulating underneath the registers. While ordering our drinks, I noticed one wasn't on the screen so I asked. While I was asking I was rudely interrupted and he said , "I got you!" 8/29 around 4:15AM. Egg, Cheese Muffin and 1 number 1-- The first person, a short African American full bearded that took the order did not repeat the order. We repeated our order to him and he responded with the amount. When we got the order, he didn't give us a number 1 but just the sandwich and the single order, Egg, Cheese Muffin came with two pieces of cheese and no one egg--- why??! Laughably bad. They didn't respond at the drivethru, so we pulled up and the old lady was really triggered that we didn't order yet. So we ordered three drinks (and that's it!) and we've currently been sitting on the side for 20 minutes and they only have brought out 2/3 drinks 5 minutes ago. So it took 15 minutes for two tiny drinks, and I currently can't predict how long we are going to be sitting here for the third. My children wanted to have McDonald's for school lunch. I placed an order through the self-service today, however, the system has fault. Mine order stayed in the in process column for more than 10 mins. I told the workers that I have waited for 10 minutes and the drive through orders had been cut in front of my order. They just asked me to wait. The manager was there and he just looked at me and kept picking up the drive through orders. He did not even tried help me to solve the problem. I had to call my husband to go to school and asked my daughter to wait for me because of the "fast food" restaurant. I am so upseT about the poor service. Not going there anymore. read more
