I can't believe I've yet to leave a review in this McDonald's, esp after reading the negative comments. This McDonald's location is the BEST - I'm a mature customer who's been to many, many McDonald's island wide, but this is the BEST! Why? Great customer service, CLEAN, and food has yet to disappoint. First off, this location will try their best to make things right - they don't get things wrong often, but I saw them this morning - post Hurricane Lala - doing their best to "fix" a small error in an order. Excellent customer service! I went there because I had an issue with their app, and poor things gotta fix mistakes that start with the app. But they resolved the issue without any pilikia and I am GRATEFUL!!! Staff kept apologizing, but hey - it happened during a hurricane so totally understandable and not their fault. Lots of smiles, lots of help for staff who wanted to resolve this. Really great McDonald's that we will continue to visit at least once a week and let me share - I am VERY happy with this location, its staff, and the food! Mahalo to Waipi'o McDonalds!!!!! read more

I was disappointed by the inconsistency in service. When we placed our order at the first window, the employee told us they could make a dirty Diet Coke and even rang us up for it. However, when we got to the pickup window, the manager stepped in and refused to make it, saying it was "against protocol." What confused me most was that I had ordered the exact same drink earlier that day without any issues. I also wasn't asking for anything extra or free--I was willing to pay the same price and simply wanted the soda swapped from Diet Dr Pepper to Diet Coke. If this truly is company policy, it should be enforced consistently. It's frustrating to be told "yes" while ordering, pay for it, and then be told "no" at the pickup window. For something as simple as substituting one diet soda for another of equal price, it seems like a pretty silly "protocol." Better consistency and communication would go a long way. read more

I went to McDonald's for an order of large fries & to try the new Smokehouse BLT Quarter Pounder. I arrived in the middle of the lunch rush. However, the drive thru was moving along quite well. I enjoyed how both the Cashier and the presenter took the time to talk with me. My fries were fresh and extremely hot. Salted just the way I like them. The Smokehouse was for my husband but I had to get a bite just for this review. The sauce has a savory flavor and the bacon just adds to it. Topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese and 3 strips of bacon. Yummy ! I'd like the smokehouse sauce on both the top and bottom buns for good coverage and deeper flavor. Just my opinion. I will definitely order this one again. This review is only for the haupia pie and chicken nuggets! I've heard about this legendary haupia pie - We mainlanders only have the boring fried apple pie at our McDonald's. My anticipation was met with 100% satisfaction. Crispy crust. Ooey gooey, creamy, molten coconut filling. I can't escape the classic chicken nuggets - they were also perfection. I've no idea about the ambiance inside, because we ordered through the drive-thru. I can't say much about the service, since our interaction was so brief. Did a mobile order and drive thru pick up of chocolate milkshakes but got chocolate milk consistency instead . Went in, got replacements and still the same consistency. Disappointed that the workers didn't even offer money back for the replacements that looked like chocolate milk and they are the ones filling the order. Workers need to put some sort of signage of the type of milkshakes provided before ordering at drive thru and inside the restaurant. Please do better!! read more

8:30 pm Mobile app pick up and found the drive up was backed up. Changed my pick up to counter and walked in. NO line and workers in the kitchen all said Welcome we'll be right with you. My order was ready in 5 mins. Great! Got to my parked car ready to load my big order and the SPLASH... Most of my order fell out of the bag onto the ground. Went back in the store with some items that didn't fall and attempted to repurchase to no avail. These kind workers both a female and male worker replaced the entire order at no charge! This is THE WORST MCDONALD'S EVER!!!! Save yourself a messy car and a HUGE headache and go to a different location! Let's start from the time we get to the window. We placed a mobile order and when we got to the counter they gave us 2 melted ice cream cones (see pic), 2 mcflurrys, 2 medium icy cokes (we ordered large), a medium and large fries (we ordered 2 large), and a melted caramel sundae with no cover (so it melted and dripped all over our car...see pic). Horrible ending to our night after taking the kids to look at Christmas lights. Thank you, McDonald's for hiring the biggest idiots to work for your ka uka location. The reason for my 5 stars is because I'm comparing this location with other McDonald's restaurants I've been to. The drive thru line always moves. In the last 15 years they've only messed up on my orders a few times. Which is a pretty good considering how many times my family has visited this location. When u did have problems it was all in a short period of time. It seemed like they had a different manager and workers the few times I had to say something about my order. I literally had to wait over 20 minutes for cookies. Then the manager made the excuse of the cookies being too soft that they had to redo do them. She tells me this only because when I got out of my car to see what was going on and why my order hasn't come out yet. Not because someone was courteous enough to give me the option of waiting or a refund. A few days later my daughter calls me saying we're going to drive to Waikele for MCD. She didn't check her order before leaving and they forgot her chicken nuggets. Lol! I got tired of driving all the way to Waikele when we wanted $1 drinks (there's something different and better about a MCD soft drinks) and their fries are so yummy. So we gave Waipio another shot and thank goodness they were back in action. Yay! Their current staff is great. Overall... this Waipio McDonald's has one of the best customer service & the fastest drive-thru on island... and I visit a lot during the entire week to get my coffee. My only gripe at this Waipio location is the price of the coffee. Prior to the start of the new 2022 year most of the McDonalds had their large coffee at $1.00. At the start of the new year... the large coffee was bumped up to $2.00... which is still a good price... until I noticed that most of all the other McDonalds still have their large coffee at $1.00 or $1.35... only Waipio has $2.00 coffee!!! read more

We always have problems here I honestly don't know why we come back.. Mainly cold food.. today was the last straw though. I normally don't do reviews unless I really am pissed or really love them. SOOOOOOO, I order food for my bf to pick up on the McDonald's app so he can get some quick lunch before heading back on the road . Everything was under his name , the card info , the order info EVERYTHING that required a name it was under his name. They denied his food because the phone ( my phone I used to order ) WAS NOT THERE! Even if his name were on everything. They needed the phone to be there to get my order. THE HELL IS THAT SHIT? We did this a few times at other mcdees & NO PROBLEM AT ALL. Just because he didn't physically have my phone to show that it's at that location they did not give him his food. Honestly the dumbest rule ever & I have worked in the food industry for 13 years ! It was always as long as their name matches with ID your good to go . As a matter of fact that's what every place does , Walmart pick up orders , target pick up orders , zippys pick up orders . Every pick up order we was never asked to physically have the phone that I used to order my stuff. Never again going back. Shouldn't even be eating that shit but sometimes can't help it . Yesterday, I ordered a filet o fish for the first time this year since there was a promo for 2 for $5. You can mix and match a big mac, large fries, 10 piece nuggets and filet o fish. My son ate the large fries. I took a pic of the fish burger and thought maybe it was a mistake that there was a half a slice of cheese. So i went back and told them if they can give me another one. When she went to the second window to get her food, she was notified that the cashier pushed the wrong button and the person behind my friend got their meal paid for instead. The McDonald's employees told my friend she had to pay for her meal. For a mistake made by the cashier working there. Come to find out, it was her student's parents who was treating her to breakfast. By the way, the car behind who mistakenly got their meal paid for had a bill that was three times the amount of my friend's bill. Well how can you give McDonald's five stars?? I'll tell you how. Being a busy mom of two young boys, we are always on the move. We've seen our fair share of McDonald's and this location is awesome! Ok, so it started out rough, but it had a happy ending. I stopped here to pick up some lunch. I wasn't particularly hungry but thought I could eat my meal later. Main goal is to feed the boys. I went to wash my car and shopped at Costco. After shopping I decided to eat one of my cheeseburgers and I took a big bite to find no meat. I was pretty bummed and thankfully we were still in the area so I made our way back to the restaurant. I explained what the issue was and the manager on duty was so nice. He said he would replace the entire meal, thank goodness too because my fries were cold. They gave me fresh everything and I was pretty excited, I really just wanted my cheeseburger replaced but they gave me an entire meal. Awesome, he was so nice too!
