This has been my home base McDonald's for the majority of my life since I grew up in Waipio Gentry. Since we moved to Waikele, we now split our McDonald's visits between here and the one in the Waikele shopping center. I hate to admit it but I go to this McDonald's at least once a day. Sometimes twice a day but lately they have been giving me the wrong order, making me wait for breakfast items that should be ready. It's not a special requests, why is my food not ready? When you call to explain your order is wrong, they are rude. I live less than 5 minutes away but I will drive to Waikele mcdonalds instead or maybe I should just go to Jack in the box, Wendy's or Taco Bell. read more

This is a review of the McRib... This sandwich is at most a giant oblong sausage from the breakfast menu bathed in glorious barbecue sauce... the sauce makes the sandwich of course, and it in reality looks nothing like how they portray it on tv. The sauce is a dark brown reminiscent of the KC masterpiece, as opposed to the firetruck red depicted in the commercials. It is tasty, but if it goes away again, it won't be missed since I've figured out the secret... buy a sausage McMuffin and dip it in KC masterpiece bbq sauce. Unfriendliest over staffed. So many workers at 11 am this morning SO UNFRIENDLY even the manager never greeted or asked if we been helped. For a McDonalds, it looks nicer. This one looks like a cafe than it does a fast food restaurant. Theyve got "modern" style furniture and seats. It could pass as a low end hotel lobby. Ive read reviews for this place and a lot of it is not good. However, my visit here wasnt bad. The fries were hot and crispy and the burgers were carefully made....not slopped on like some other places. I guess the business makes a difference because I went during prime time lunch but inside was dead! The employees were motivated by their manager. Only thing is the air conditioner was either broken or not on because it did seem a little hot in there. Normally, I wouldnt give a fast food place 4 stars, but it didnt seem like a "fast food experience" to me. read more

During her morning walk, my daughter placed an order for breakfast using her phone app. It was paid for at that time. Upon getting there, she found that they were closed due to a plumbing problem. They weren't sure when they would be able to reopen. Needless to say, her order was not ready. Worse yet, she was told that they couldn't refund her order. This is crazy! So what happens next? Is her order sitting in queue and pops up when they reopen? She won't be able to pick it up if she's already at work. All they could tell her was "Call back later". You would think that the app would block acceptance of orders if the location was down due to a problem. Seems like someone dropped the ball or that they don't have a plan B. SMH read more

Be aware! This McDonald's location charges way more than all other McDonald's locations on Oahu. I ordered a McDouble and an apple pie. The McDouble cost $2.19 at other locations but Ka Uka's location charges $2.69. An Apple pie cost $.99 at other locations but Ka Uka charges $1.69. The McDonald's app shows a lower price but when you choose this location, it automatically changes the price in the cart to the higher price without any warning. Whoo hoo! Monopoly is back! And although I haven't (or I've tried not to) eat too much McDonald's the Monopoly game and my favorite fries is totally my weakness. The location here is quite convenient since it is really close by my house. I can even walk if I wanted to. But in any case. I drove by the other day and noticed a whole lot of construction going on there. Imagine the relief when I saw the large sign that said: Still open during construction. Yay! So I went through the drive through to get my favorite meal- chicken nuggets with bbq and hot mustard sauce. And I got 4 game pieces! No instant win but maybe next time. The staff at this location is always so friendly and services every customer with a smile and a hello. My food is always super hot and fresh and I don't think I've ever waited very long here. I went inside to pick up my food because they was no line. But they was no one to help me also, the lady who look like the manager had to tell the other person who looked like an assistant manager to go to help me. Even at that he seem like I was bothering him. When I asked a question he seem to not want to answer my question. I know this is only McDonald's but some of us have not been at McDonald's for a while and would like to know what is the better deal. Came here for my Free Fries Friday...APP WORKED!! Ordered my food and I got it fast and fresh! I was watching the guy packing the fries, and he was really packing them in! Some McDs, they don't really load the fries in the fries sleeve, but this guy did. So my free fries was pretty packed in there! I had a bad experience once because my free fries app disappeared when I stepped in the restaurant. I ended up walking out and going to the Mililani McDs. I find it absolutely puzzling that every late night when nothing else is open that they "ran out" of multiple things or their ice cream machine "is broken." Not once a week. At least a 3x a week this happens. Not to mention the drive thru attendant is quite rude and short with their replies. I think management needs to be aware that this happens quite frequently and if they are aware that is no way to run a business. My boyfriend is a serious McDonald's frequent customer. He's all bout dem fries. Needless to say, we go to this McDonald's quite often. Not because it's close to where we live (it's not), but because they hardly ever mess up on the fries. We always get them well done and they're 95% of the time crispy and golden to perfection. Ive been going to this Mcds since I was a kid. Now i'm grown with kids of my own and appreciate customer service.. its more than just ordering food. That being said, Debbie is such a great worker that i will go to this location just for her SERVICE. For years, there hasn't been one time that she an "off day". Took for granted how awesome service is always at this location mostly through drive thru. I understand heavy times like lunch and dinner can get hectic but honestly, I've never had a missing or incorrect order at this location. Food was always warm and fresh. Unlike "other" Non McDonald's fast food establishments with higher prices and poor quality amongst other things . McDonald's prices and menus are best and not comparable to others in my opinion. I figured I'd take the small time to praise and appreciate the Waipio McDonald's est. I've read other reviews with a grain of salt. This is my own personal unsolicited review because I have enjoyed my services here for past years. People are always nice and professional. They are by far the quickest and I've been to many other McDonald's locations throughout the island of Oahu to be able to compare. Albeit the occasional errors may occur for some but being once a young man myself working after high school in fast foods, I am reminded to be understanding and empathetic. Saw all the 1-star reviews and I thought I'd throw in a genuine 5-star review, because honestly, I like this McDonald's over other McDonald's- and I'm talking strictly about the drive-thru service. Shame but not shame to say that we frequent this location a lot, lol. We live close by- and fast food is what it is: fast and convenient. My MAIN reason of rating this McD's as 5 stars is because of their VANILLA ICED KONA COFFEE. In all honesty, I think they serve it the best here. I think it's quality iced coffee - just the right amount of vanilla, and rarely too strong on the coffee, or bite. I think it's perfect. I find it a risk to order the vanilla iced coffee at any other McD's. Other than the coffee- I think the employees that work here are so nice, and they're chill. We either come here in the AM ranging from 8-10am whenever we choose to pick up food from here, or at late night 9-11pm. The employees really make up the ratings for this place, and I HONESTLY rate them a 5 :) read more

RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL! I frequent this McDonald's location often, since I live right down the road and I have never experience such rudeness and unprofessional manner at this location. Last night, I was in the drive thru and ordered 3 filet-o-fish and 1 Big Mac. When I paid for my order, it was fine. BUT, when I went to the next window to receive my food, that was a different story! I remembered last minute that my bf wanted extra tarter sauce for each of his filet-o-fish sandwiches, so I asked for 3 pumps. (& yes, I know they charge for side sauce). But when the girl gave me my order, she gave me the extra tarter sauce and she sent me on my way, w/o charging me, but then I noticed that there was only one in a small container. I asked if I could have 2 more for the other sandwiches and she yelled back at the kitchen and said she needs 2 more tarter sauce, then I hear another lady yell back, 52 cents! I gave her a $20 bill and while she's doing the transaction, I hear them yelling in Filipino to each other. Which I'm sure they were talking about me since they didn't want to talk in English. When the cashier came back to the window with my change, she gave me back only $17 with some change. They charged me over $2 for SIDE SAUCE. I was upset that she didn't tell me that they were going to charge me that much for side sauce because she initially told me 52 cents, & if I knew that they were going to charge me that much for SIDE SAUCE, I would of bought a bottle of Tarter Sauce from Foodland which is right down the road. I asked to speak with the manager, she rudely came to me and just said "you ask for too much so we charge you". I just asked for her name, and drove off. HER NAME IS NORGIE. read more

This has got to be one of the BEST Mcdonald's I've been to. Okay actually let me say this first. Before my whole LOVE for the farmer's market and "going green" I used to like Mcdonalds, however just didn't like their service. Seriously I don't think they train a lot of these guys right. But THIS mcdonalds was just absolutely fast, simple, seamless and rarely do I EVER have complaints with their food. They are also renovating so it's looking like it's going pretty good! And I LOVE the people.. they're so sweet and friendly, which is why I REFUSE to go anywhere but the WAIPIO mcdonalds for those reasons. OH and the $1 drinks... you really can't beat that. But in GENERAL i now give ALL mcdonalds about 1-2 stars. They need to step it up as far as the quality of food and the training of the people. And now I'm talking about IN GENERAL. We all know the quality of food from McD's. And we all know the prices. So this review is about the location, service, staff, etc. When reviewing chain restaurants, everything will be the same. So when reading other reviews, I can't see how others can say that the burger tastes "better" at such and such compared to another. Because the only thing that separates all chain locations is the staff, service, etc. The location of this McDonald's is not really in a great or prime location. I don't find it a benefit that it's on the thoroughfare to the H2 on Ka Uka Blvd. Or if it's near the industrial area and residential area of Waipio Gentry. The reason why the location is NOT prime is due to the fact that it shares the parking lot with the Shell gas station. People go in and out of this place like there's no tomorrow. When turning into the McDonalds from Kamehameha Hwy to Ka Uka and then turning right again, you are often stopped right at the entrance due to a poorly timed stoplight or a backlog at the poorly designed drive thru. Parking is even worse with only a few spots to park in. They have recently updated the drive-thru to have 2 lines. This is even worse due to less space for parking and that much more cars in the drive-thru. Inside, there's not many seats to sit in. Which makes it roughly a drive and go type of establishment where much of the focus is the drive thru. Have I received wrong orders here? Yes. But I don't frequent here a lot, so they're rather minimal. read more

The worst McDonalds ever. Not busy too k our our fee to go. Everything seemed fine until we get home and find out the double quarter pounder with cheese had one patty. Validated the receipt and..yes, they charged us for the double. Checked their number in the receipt and whoever answered jus said McDonalds. Guess they haven't learned customer service and proper way of answering. Explained what happened and jus got..oh..we got trainees in the back. No apologize or nothing like I guess oh well is the impression I received. I feel so bad for these guys as they are always busy!!! They work hard and try. Sometimes they take a little long but for the most part it's normal. I did however have an issue about the drive through which has since stopped. I guess in the fast food industry, drive thru times are recorded and monitored in order to recognize the quick service. But some places take this to another level. (I had to say something at Burger King in Kapolei as well). I was going through the drive -thru and ordered like one meal. There was no one else in the drive- thru but me. I get to the window and right away, they ask me to park, which is an inconvenience at this one. I ask how come as there was no one behind me and how long is the food anticipated to take? The girl couldn't answer and just said that she was trained to do that. Her manger was further in and she was looking for assistance from her. I called the manager over and told her that it was bad practice for them to have a car park just because they were trying to meet a time goal. I let her know that they should use that parking tactic when the situation calls for it. We will keep coming as the kids love McDonald's and we aren't crying when they choose here read more

You can't really go wrong with McDonald's because it's always exactly what you expect it to be. This location is always constantly packed to the brim in the drive thru and the few times I've gone inside to order (to avoid the drive thru line), I've had to deal with a bit of a wait. The fact of the matter is that the effectiveness of this restaurant has to do with their customer service. Every now and again, when the drive thru line gets absolutely insane and starts snaking around the parking lot and in through the road, they send out an extra employee to take orders of cars further back in line. So a few cars order from the take out window, and a few get their order taken by a live person with a headset who calls it in. So, if you were ordering from the person, when you get up to the place where you'd normally order, they put everything up on the screen so you can see you total. It makes everything run much quicker and smoother. All in all, this place can get their stuff done in a quick, friendly, and professional manner when it's required. read more

This seriously might be the fastest drive through for McDonald's on island! They even send out people when the line is backing up to manually take orders to speed the process along. Everyone is super friendly here and I have never gotten an order that wasn't perfect here (and I am on picky lady!). All the food is fresh and made correctly. They are also very good about substitutions. I order the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit and sub a muffin for the biscuit to save calories. Never been a problem at this one :) The inside isn't huge, but it seems most people use the drive through. The parking lot is a little crowded, but the speedy service makes up for it! read more

The first time I went to this McDonald, they had THE BEST french fries here!! Every time we would order french fries from different McDonald, I would always compare it to this Waipahu one and non of them ever came close to how hot, crispy and delicious it was. So when we were in the area again, it was a must that we stopped by this McDonald and get their Fries to see if it was the same... or on that day they just happened to have the perfect fries. I must say it was not as good as the first time around, It was still hot and good... they just didnt have that crispiness.. just out of the frier.. im gonna burn my tongue.. yummy to it. maybe third time is the charm! Fast, friendly, nicest environment store in area, clean

The ice cream machine is almost always broken which means no shakes, mcflurrys, ice cream cones, or sundaes. Service is slow and drive thru usually takes around 20 minutes. So much for fast food. They make you park and wait. You should double check your order because they frequently get it wrong with missing items. I would recommend going to another McDonald's if possible. read more
