Let me start off by saying, I don't leave bad reviews unless absolutely necessary (to help others). In this case, something must be said! I contacted McFarlin LLP via telephone on June 6, 2022 to get more information on filing a Ch.7 bankruptcy. Iris (whom I spoke to) said I would need to fill out a questionnaire and pay $2500 retainer. They sent me a link to a questionnaire so I filled it out and submitted. I did not send any funds (THANK GOD). After a week went by I contacted them via email, radio silence. Then I proceeded to call, several times, but could not get thru to anyone unless I had an extension... it was not like that before when I first called and spoke with Iris. Now you can't get on their website without a warning message stating "it is unsafe to enter this page, information may be stolen". Next thing you know, about a month after submitting my info, I have a $20,000 credit card line opened in my name!!! And the worst part is they didn't make ANY payments! This was NOT the only account they tried opening in my name, they tried several banks and lending companies but since I caught onto the $20k CC, I was able to do a credit freeze. After several months and disputing with Experian and FTC, I was able to get the credit card removed from under my name/credit report. This really affected my financial capabilities and trashed my record. Luckily things are looking positive now that I've cleared most of it up. I'm mainly writing this review beacause it appears theyr'e "still in business" so I want to warn anyone considering doing any kind of business with McFarlin LLP. I don't care if they've helped a handful of people, that is if the reviews are from real or unpaid people or not from the man himself! I gave this company all of my personal and financial info, as it was needed. No one else had (or has) access to this info. I am a single (65 yrs old) small business owner and do not have social media so it could not have been stolen from anyone other than whoever had access to my personal info (cough McFarlin LLP/staff). Also they have MANY reviews stating the same or a similar issue. They've stolen money and personal identities... several times! I also noticed there is a Rhode Island address on my credit report. I've had a extremely bad experience with McFarlin to throw point where I wanted a refund and when I asked them for me refund they said it Will take up to a week well it's been almost 2 weeks now and I have left multiple emails and phones to check on the status of the refund and I have not gotten a call back nor a email. I've called multiple people from iris and talien and haven't received a single call back or update on it. It's becoming very unprofessional at this point all I have been asking for is to speak to someone and check on the status of my refund. No one answers the phone, it is all automated with no option to speak with an actual person. I am extremely disappointed in McFarlin LLP's services (or lack thereof). This firm was very helpful to me. They sent me a form to fill out online so that we could have a reasonable conversation over the phone. When I answered such things as "we can talk about it on the phone", they accepted that answer rather than push for the time consuming process of finding the answers when I know up front it's probably not going to work out for me. Once we got on the phone the interview was fantastic and very helpful. I have been on the road to solving my financial problems for over 2 months now. I have done extensive research and found out that the truth of the matter is I'm not in a very good position. This firm was willing to share that information with me up front. I can always call back. Worst experience ever! They asked for $9,000.00 upfront and $1,000.00 a month for maintenance fee. For our $11,000 we got a 15 minute meeting with Tim, a failed lawsuit filing that we help the para-legal write, and not ONE call from Jarrod, the attorney who was assigned to our case. After paying two months of $1,000 maintenance fees, and not receiving a return call from Jarrod, to discuss the strategy for moving forward, we stopped making payments. Then we started receiving calls from the office accountant for payments. I told her when Jarrod calls, we will pay. He didn't and I didn't. Doesn't even deserve 1 star. Their capitalizing on home owners that are dealing with zombie mortgage situations. Their lead guy Paul will tell you everything you want to hear. You sign up, then you get a 10 minute intro call with McFarlin, telling you everything you want to hear. Your mind is briefly at peace.. Then this is when the fun begins, after they take your money.. You don't hear from anyone. You work with office staff, not even paralegals.. They file court documents, which are basically templates, with your info added lol .. I had to pay for a court filing service so that I could follow the filing. No updates from McFarlin on filing, no updates on anything. Calls go straight to voicemail, emails go unanswered. I even went as far as driving to their address in Irvine. Nice office, but empty. Lawyers didn't respond to mortgage company attorney's .. didn't show up for court, just a complete sh*tshow! Unreal, a blatant disregard for my situation. Finally spoke to an attorney, and I knew more about my case then he did. I'm not going to continue to beat a dead horse, but thank God, I was proactively working with a few other people, or else I would have lost my home because of these crooks .. If you are going through a zombie mortgage situation, please reach out to a non profit organization for help. Don't trust these selfish attorney's. Back story: On or around April 2011 I filed for Bankruptcy do to the 2009 housing crisis. I renegotiated my first mortgage but the second mortgage was sold and I never heard from them for over 15 years. Now 15 years later, my new second mortgage company Statebridge LLC contacted me by certified mail saying I owe then 36 thousand dollars and to pay it or face foreclosure. Meeting: On 03/17/2021 after several conversation with Paul Rodriguez over the phone regarding retaining their firm to negotiate a settlement with Statebridge LLC. I meet with Paul Rodriguez and Timothy G. McFarlin. Paul Rodriguez and Timothy G. Mcfarlin both said and agreed "I had no leverage to negotiate and filing a lawsuit was my best option to gain leverage" BUYER BEWARE! I told Paul Rodriguez and Timothy G. McFarlin I just wanted the 2nd mortgage settled/negotiated before foreclosure. Retainer: The retainer stated "represent client in foreclosure vs Stonebridge and it affiliates." I told Paul Rodriguez that the company was STATEBRIDGE LLC and I was NOT in Foreclosure. Paul Rodriguez stated "I will fix it" but he never did. BUYER BEWARE! Also the retainer stated: "Client does not elect to proceed under the State Bar fee arbitration process." I asked Paul Rodriguez about this. Paul Rodriguez stated "It's standard" BUYER BEWARE! Filing: On April 13, 2021, McFarlin LLP filed a lawsuit against Statebridge LLC and on August 6, 2021 115 DAY LATER! McFarlin LLP filed THE PROOF OF SERVICE TO STATBRIDGE LLC. That is 115 days later(unreasonable). BUYER BEWARE! I asked Samantha Geraghty from McFarlin LLP way the delay. Samantha stated "the case was filed in April, however serving defendants typically takes weeks, especially if they are evasive of service. Then, once they are served, our office has to wait for a report from the process server and a subsequent proof of service." I told Samantha Geraghty that Statebridge LLC is a brick and mortar business facility. Evasion for 4 months is unreasonable to believe. Please email me all proof of service and attended service in a time is of the essence matter. AFTER THIS REQUEST, MCFARLIN LLP AND IT'S ASSOCIATE STARTED TO "GHOST" ME a paying customer who is now in foreclosure. I retained McFarlin LLP 4 months before I was in foreclosure. McFarlin LLP never contacted Statebridge LLC regarding a settlement or negotiating a deal on my property. BUYER BEWARE! Conclusion: After confronting Samantha Geraghty about taking 115 days to serve papers to Statebridge LLC(UNREASONABLE). I called Timothy G. Mcfarlin several times and left messages in which he NEVER called me back.BUYER BEWARE! I emailed Timothy G. McFarlin, Samantha Geraghty, Eileen Valder and Leticia Ruiz from McFarlin LLP for weeks and they never answered ANY of my emails regarding my case. BUYER BEWARE! I was a monthly paying customer with a case in court and I was ABANDON by McFarlin LLP and the funniest thing is, Eileen Valder sent me a monthly bill for 1,000.00 after Timothy, Samantha, Eileen and Leticia from McFarlin LLP ignored my calls, message and emails for weeks regarding my case and still to this day. I wanted and asked Mcfarlin LLP to negotiate a settlement for me but instead Mcfarlin LLP took 115 days to serve Statebridge LLC paper(unreasonable) and for 6 months McFarlin LLP never contacted Statebridge LLC to negotiation a settlement. Hi. My name is Lisa Marquez. For fours years I have stressed and struggled with a past due home equity line of credit that was on my home. I have talked to the bank at least one hundred times. I have an eerily similar experience to that of Teena C. Bankruptcy in 2010, then we tried to contact the lender (Chase) to catch up or reinstate the 2nd mortgage on our home. Gave up after many fumbles, re-FAXING personal data etc. Tried to start an RMA around 2013 with Chase who refused. Even had an attorney who tried to contact them. Chase instead began foreclosure on our 2nd mortgage. When that occurred, Chase - by law - had to offer an RMA. :) We began the RMA process; it was a nightmare and my husband literally would spend hours on the phone several days each month to ensure that Chase confirmed receipt of documentation they required. This was documentation we sent over many times. We also pressed Chase for details on the balance they said we owed. It became complicated. After 18 months, Chase finally gave us a determination; rejected due to high income! They continued with the foreclosure process. Last chance for us: we contacted McFarlin and signed up with them. First, they prevented Chase from moving forward with the foreclosure. Chase agreed to provide another review (RMA) which we filled out. We re-supplied data only a couple times. This was a very stressful time, but not nearly as stressful as the previous 18 months!!. After 12 months, Chase approved the RMA - we got what we needed; an affordable payment. extremely low interest rate. This allows us to keep our home.
