The ambiance is pretty average steak house vibe and the dress trends more to the casual side. I mean, it sits on the golf course so I wouldn't expect any more than casual. Probably THE BEST onion rings I've had since I was 16 years old. You MUST order them. The French onion soup is phenomenal and my kids are crazy for their burgers. I told the waitress I had an allergy to onions. The salad arrived with an onion mixed in. I had eaten a bite before I saw it. My mail order was a medium well burger. My burger was very rare. Poor service and poor mgmt. I told them I was paying for the salad. We waited 90 minutes for our main food. The waitress Kimberly didn't put our order in. I was sting with my grandchildren. Great views of the color on the golf course this autumn. I enjoyed my fish tacos, my dad enjoyed his chicken club. We shared some chicken wings (good sauce, wish they had stayed hot longer, we should have eaten them right when they came out). One of the sauces on the wings was like a buffalo sauce, while the other was a sweet teriyaki- yum. Dad had French onion soup, while I had tomato. Delicious. Bread was good, too. Really bummed we only had time for appetizers and drinks because their menu looks DELISH! Stopped in here before a wedding venue visit and boy am I happy we did. The drinks were amazing and the bartender was very friendly. Ambiance is chill and casual with a trendy cape cod-feel. Tater tot appetizer was crispy and flavorful with different sauces around the outer edge of the plate. Drinks came quickly and with a lovely flower on top. I don't even drink martinis and I had 2! McGees is a regular stop when we are in TC. The food and service are usually superb. I ordered the prime rib recently and it was very tough and did not even resemble the prime rib we normally receive here. I understand the need to cut back on food costs but I would rather pay more for real prime rib than be served a sub-par cut. The boujie tater tots that we ordered for the table came out looking so beautiful! But the dipping sauce was the only tasty part of the entire plate, unfortunately. My burger was pretty bland, but my friends were impressed with the steak and mashed potatoes! (Maybe I should've gotten that instead) Our waitress was perfectly polite and attentive. Driving by this place, you would think it would be the most popular place in Traverse City. Beautiful on the golf course venue parking lot that was completely packed. You must feel real confident walking into a place like that, it's something to look forward to. unfortunately, in our case, it was less than OK. it was our last night in Traverse City and we were looking to splurge on a really nice meal to celebrate the wonderful trip that we had. Despite a packed parking lot, we were able to get right in...that was great! This is where they lost us. I ordered an Old Fashioned bourbon and my wife ordered a blood orange martini. Now I don't know about you, but if I'm ordering an old-fashioned and my wife is ordering a martini we're looking for something kind of boozy and a real good way to start off a meal. The old fashion, despite the Traverse City cherries that were muddled and the oranges that were muddled along with a simple syrup and the ice left very very little room for bourbon. It was tasty, but there was no bourbon. My wife's blood orange martini was tasty, but there was no alcohol in it. I'm assuming it was the manager who stopped by and asked very confidently how are the drinks? My reply was they were just ok. She looked at me surprisingly and said she's real surprised by that because they have the best drinks in town. Well, because you asked me, I told you what I thought about your drinks. They were only OK. I think I upset her. It was the worst old-fashioned I've ever had EVER! She ordered a prime rib sandwich that was bland, I ordered a chicken Caesar salad and asked for some anchovies on the side. This is probably the most basic Caesar salad I have ever had. The thing is, it's OK to receive mediocre, however their pricing suggest that what you are going to receive is extraordinary. At the end, I looked at the bill and thought maybe the manager would give me a little break on the two awful drinks we had, she left them on the bill and then on top of that charged me a few bucks for the anchovies and an up charge for a 1 ounce thing of ranch. This place is very basic and really is not worth spending time there. Locals call it a place where they love to go. Apparently the locals are easily impressed, I don't know. PRETENTIOUS. What a joke. The only reason they get two stars is because my wife really liked her blueberry lemon martini. If you're in the market for a $45 steak with reheated mashed potatoes and broccolini, then this 1000% overrated microwave 'restaurant' may be for you. The service was completely slow and the waitress definitely had another place she would have rather been. The Ambience was 'ok'. I did not end up eating as everything had onion of some kind and being that this is a microwave reheat and serve 'restaurant', they couldn't even make me something without onion. We had a large group of about 16 coming in after a long day of golf. The service was great and the food matched. HUGE onion rings! Variety of dishes received tons of compliments from the fish to the blue cheese burger to pasta. Oh man. We come here twice a year. Food is normally excellent. Prices are high but absolutely worth it. Tonight I ordered the tenderloin and it was fantastic. Wife ordered the seafood pasta, very very poor. Extremely fishy tasting, cream sauce was good and pasta was good but the seafood was sub par. We like to try different items every time we come. We went there for happy hour. The male bartender wasn't very friendly. He gave us the feeling like we were bothering him. Our waitress was prompt and polite and we never waited for long with food service on both courses and drinks. Prices were very reasonable and the quality of the food was great aside from two comments. We ordered the berry & Brie flatbread and it was more of a pizza with berry compote, brie, and arugula. Personally we were expecting something thinner, crunchier, and it was missing something savory such as prosciutto. The Ribeye was cooked well, however the quality was extremely average-however this isn't a steakhouse so it's understandable. Had a horrible experience. Paid by credit card and took home receipt for $121.76. A month later a charge showed up for $205.32, NOT the $121 I signed for. I went to the restaurant and it took days for them to have the manager get back to me. I had to call twice more. Manager offered nothing except excuses. I had to pull teeth to get him to fix the error. He refused to compensate me additionally for the aggravation; although he did offer me a piece of pie. It's almost laughable.... They charged my card almost twice the bill total without my consent or signature. It shows you what kind of business they are running behind the scenes. The "dollar" is obviously much more important than the "customer". The fact is, we wouldn't have gone back even before this happened. The food was average, at best, given the price. Went to McGee's the other night and, even though it was almost full, we were able to get a table for 4 quickly. Service was great - I think our server was Sean. Very friendly and attentive! We were all happy with our meals. Some people remark that the food is pricey but we go out a lot and their prices seem right on for the quality and quantity. Some had the whitefish and were really happy with their meal (we recently paid $5 less for whitefish in town and it was so fishy we couldn't even finish it). I had the chicken and gouda cheese pasta - so good! And enough left over so I could have another meal at home. read more

Great food. Husband had the special - prime rib - which came crusted and cooked perfectly, along with some very good mashed potatoes and some nice seasonal veggies. I had the French Onion Soup which I felt could have been done a little better, but still had a great taste. This is by far the worst restaurant experience we have ever encountered. Walked in was greated and seated. Ordered what we received was atrocious black burnt scraps of salmon and no bacon sent it back to kitchen came out with 1 piece of cold bacon. Same burnt scraps of salmon. What a disgrace. Asked to see a manager. She thought she would get a new one made. By this time my guest was done with their sand. And I did not want a thing out of that kitchen.
