Fabulous meal! Service is fast and friendly and the portions are humongous. The drinks in the extra large mason jars are a nice touch. We had a nice lunch and my 7 year old boy gobbled up his spaghetti and meatball. Warning, even though it is on the kids menu the dish is adult size. The breakfast croissant was a little hard to eat but was very good. The bacon in the sandwich was amazing. We came here for the key lime pie, which is a favorite of my daughter and it didn't disappoint. It was creamy and balanced with a very thick graham cracker crust. All in all delicious! My daughter loves key lime pie and since we've been in Ft. Myers we're sampling the pie from each place we go. Update: we saved a bit of pie from McGregor's and Pawnbroker and did a side-by-side taste test and can report that we preferred McGregors key lime pie. This is one of the best breakfast spots I've been to! It's tucked away in a very nice neighborhood which I love, their outdoor seating is so comfortable even though it was too cold to sit outside when we went. The inside décor was also very nice, green pops of color and great paintings on the walls. It was on the smaller side but they fit a good amount of people inside. The menu is very straight forward with the typical options for drinks. I ordered their quiche of the day (Broccoli and cheddar) with home fries and a biscuit, and my boyfriend got two eggs, corn beef hash, and toast. Both were absolutely amazing and the portion sizes were fantastic! The quiche was cooked perfectly, not too watery at all and not overcooked so the crust was burnt. My boyfriend raved about the corn beef hash all day so I guess you could say that was his favorite part of breakfast! Our waitress was so sweet and attentive despite having so many tables. Pros Waitress was phenomenal Cons I believe you need to be a regular to be treated fairly. Arrived at 11:10 am for breakfast that stops at 11:30. Put on waiting list and was told we most likely would be waiting past 20-25 minutes so it would be lunch instead. Immediately, 3 tables vacated outside and some patrons left from inside. The hostess came and talked to a couple that was ahead of us and they pointed to the table they wanted and she quickly went and cleaned it then seated them. They were served breakfast as I was able to watch their table after we were finally seated for lunch and escorted to our table at 11:40 am. The food was mediocre. The patty melt had a slice of cheese on it that wasn't even melted and the bottom of the bread was so soft you couldn't even pick up the sandwich and had to eat with fork and knife. This is my second bad experience at the café, which is consequently why I am reviewing. The owners and or management need to know what's going on. Arrived at 2:35 pm, to an already locked patio with a bistro table on the other side blocking anyone even attempting to open the gate door, coming or going. As we started to walk around to find another entrance, the rude waitress yells and says we're closed, and we replied with I thought you closed at 3, and her response was, 'we take our last tables at 2:45, I don't know what to tell you.' We are kind people, who tip well and were planning on making it a quick snack. It was before 2:45. After two bad experiences that stemmed from rude disrespectful employee interactions, I will no longer attempt to give them my business. South of Edison & Ford's Estates on the street that shares its name, McGregor Cafe is nested in a palm lined residential neighborhood. It's in a refurbished ranch style house sporting a blue parasol enriched patio behind a hedge row underneath high spidery canopy of Cyprus trees. I have long digged cafes pushed between residences, a rare occurence in a world of zoning madness, with their cosmopolitain air and neighborhood feel. These places are often top notch, and the look reminded me of my hometown's DK Diner. I was game to try on the first pass by. It didn't disappoint expectations. We sat in its lovely patio soaking sunshine and the revelries of the lunch crowd--warm sunlight always increase the mood. A section of the staff works the outside from there with the counter sat beside the door; there is no reason to go inside making things convenient for the al fresco oriented. For those wishing to enjoy their meal inside, McGregor offers a cozy dim lite dining room sporting hard wood floors, clean wooden frames, and plenty of table seating. The staff is helpful, hard working, and welcoming. I had a tuna melt that was on point, impressing me to be among the tops I ever had in that standard cafe meal. Their lunch menu is pretty convential, and the tuna melt follows suit. But it had fresh flavorful cheese and was made of fresh tuna mixed perfectly with the mayo. Toast to perfection on great bread, I swallowed it whole. Downed with Southern sweet ice tea kept filled by our dutiful waitress, the meal was worth the price, which as memory serves didn't run far from standard cafe prices. Their dinner menu offered more than the unusual. I didn't do dinner there though the pictures showcased artistically placed items in unual formations that caught the eye and interested the stomach. I am pretty dissapointed I didn't go for dinner (supper) This is a def for my next trip to Ft Myers. If I may offer one criticism it is the potato salad side I ordered. It was fresh, it had great ingredients, it was of a fabulous texture, but it was bland as the February Ohio sky. No taste at all. If the power that be at McGreggor are looking for the very few places to improve I'd suggest upping their potato salad game. Other than that, it's a great stop after E&F or anytime really. read more

It's like eating breakfast at Granny's house- eclectic decor, fantastic food, and warm and friendly wait staff! We opted for indoor seating with air conditioning, but the outdoor seating looks very nice. Our waitress, Christa, was attentive but not "in-your-face" type of attentive. She answered our questions, kept our coffee mugs filled, and checked to make sure we were happy with our orders. The cafe was busy, but she took great care of us. My daughter and I each got "The Benny"- Eggs Benedict with hash browns. I went with the ham, she chose pork roll. My husband chose the "Mr. Joe"- two eggs served with sausage, bacon, toast, and home fries. Portions were generous- about two cups of hash browns on each plate. We ate until we couldn't anymore. We came here for breakfast and I would place it as a must visit for traditional breakfast foods. The corn beef hash is amazing with just potatoes added and crispy. The home fries are made with small red potatoes and I would get them every time. The cheesy grits are in my top 5 all time. The quiche is thick with potatoes, red pepper and plenty of cheese. We stopped by for breakfast on the way to the island. Food was great (we got the Benny and the quiche plus Bloody Marys) but that was definitely the saving grace. Service was just fine, nothing remarkable, but polite. However they were only outdoor seating (maybe due to COVID) and not given the option to sit indoors, and the flies were HORRIBLE. They were at the table next to us mostly, but they were everywhere, it completely ruined the experience. You could tell it would have been a cute ambience if the bugs hadn't been an issue, but they were on us and all over our food, we wound up leaving before I finished because it was so unenjoyable. But I understand this was likely out of their control as it's Summer in FL. I hope they find a way to solve the issue in the future because I'd like to come back. read more

Popped in here on our way back from from a quick getaway for breakfast and WOW! We had our Frenchie with us so we were very pleased to experience how dog friendly the outdoor patio was, they all greeted our pup warmly and brought him water, before even bringing us waters! The patio is adorable, and I'm in absolute lust with that beautiful tree. The food was incredible too. We had a make your own omelet and the quiche of the day. The quiche was a lobster shrimp and spinach quiche that was absolutely delicious. While we were unable to be seated outside due to the rain, inside proved to be warm,comfortable and altogether very pleasant indeed. The service was excellent! I ordered an omelette with bacon and mushrooms; my wife ordered spinach quiche. First, the portions were huge. Second, the quality of the food was of the highest quality. August 16, 2023. We normally don't leave reviews on social media. Today we are making an exception. We have a Federally licensed service animal, small breed and professional working dog. Part 1, 1:00 pm ish, not very busy. Hostess was an older lady with maybe the worst front of house skills I've witnessed. Conversation went like this. "How many?" "Two please", "outside?" "No inside", "the dog can't come inside, we don't have a license for that", "the dog is a service animal", "we don't have a license for that either". As my head about exploded from the lack of ADA education and pure rudeness, I responded by wanting to speak with her Manager. She left, was back in 45 seconds and agreed to seat us. Red flags going off in my head saying stop and walk away. As we were sitting down at a booth built for four, we seated the service animal in the booth, sitting on his pad which we take to ensure the dog doesn't sit directly on a chair or other seating area knowing they rarely get wiped down. Part 2, the same rude lady became aggressive and said "the dog has to sit on the floor". Absolutely not, look At your floor. It was un-swept from previous people. Restaurants are required to allow a SA inside without unusual accommodations, example, I can't make them add an additional chair. We picked up a business card, told the lady she needed an education and left. Will never going back there. Owner or Manager wouldn't come out from back of house to speak with us. We also filed a formal complaint with the ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act. Lessons to be learned. Treat people how you want to be treated, if you don't know, ask and when your internal Red Flags are popping up, remove yourself from the situation. With that being said, we stopped in another local restaurant between Broadway and 1st Street. Not going to say the name because we've read other reviews where owner attacked the restaurant named in the review. The server had water for the service animal before we had water. In closing, bad hostess and bad owner for allowing this behavior. Keep your apologies, we will never be back. Response from the owner 19 hours ago Mr. Champa, as dog lovers and pet owners, it saddens us that you went on the attack simply because we followed ADA rules. These include that any business is permitted to ask: 1. Is the animal required because of a disability? 2. What work or task has the animal been trained to perform? You and your companion arrived carrying your dog in your arms. "Under the ADA, service animals must be harnessed, leashed, or tethered, unless the individual's disability prevents using these devices or these devices interfere with the service animal's safe, effective performance of tasks." Per the ADA, a certified Service animal in a restaurant is not permitted on any seating. To again quote: "Seating, food, and drink are provided for customer use only. The ADA gives a person with a disability the right to be accompanied by his or her service animal, but covered entities are not required to allow an animal to sit or be fed at the table." Additionally, in the state of Florida, falsely claiming a pet as a service animal is a second-degree misdemeanor under § 413.08(9), Fla. Stat. (2023), and a conviction can result in a jail sentence of up to 60 days plus a $500 fine. We regret you were unhappy with us for upholding ADA requirements. Thank you for sharing your dissatisfaction, but not following the rules would inhibit us from properly providing a safe and hygienic space for all our patrons. We wish you well. August 18, 2023 Response to Owners Rely to my review. I was not able to reply to the owners review directly. Let's be clear, your Hostess never asked the those two very important questions regarding Service Animals. You hostess said and I quote, "we don't have a licenses for dogs", me, "it's a Service Dog", "we don't have a license for Service Dogs either"! The 11 lbs. dog was wearing a black harness with Service Dog patches on it while on a red leash with service animal tags on the leash. Very Clearly identified, which is not required by law. The dog is a Federally Registered and Documented Service Animal with, guess what, a Federal Documentation Number. We know the regulations. Also, this animal can sit at a seat with us at anytime. No, we can not make you add another seat to accommodate the Service Animal, it was a booth for 4, not a table for 2 and your floors were dirty. You not only are wrong, you are an arrogant fool. You and your hostess and are not dog people, service animal people or good people. We took to reviews after how badly you treated us and obviously, we were correct to do so. Enjoy your staff education from the ADA. We absolutely filed a complaint and will forward your nonsense reply that you copied and pasted from an internet search regarding Service Animals. I love the outdoor setting. The breakfast and service was mediocre the coffee was not very good I am not impressed with the local roaster who provided it. But I want to be clear my intention in this review is to prepare others for what to expect not to expect perfection. Hmmm it's all about the hype and crowd that shows up at this place. I had caffe latte and requested for extra hot. I was told that they do not have control over the temperature because it comes as is from the machine and then they can microwave it for me. I know they offered but this is a step down from Starbucks (only on coffee front) considering the amount they charge for it. Food items are pricey once you start adding your meats. It definitely has a different feel from other places I have visited in Fort Myers area, located in very safe area on McGregor. But that is just it, nothing special about the food or the presentation of it, or perhaps it was the food I ordered. Would I go back there? Yes, because this place feels safe and open. read more

They added a layer of goat cheese and some nuts, definitely a must if you're lucky to come in the right day. The service was excellent, everyone was very attentive. We had lunch here yesterday. They have a large outside patio which is attractive and inviting due to the lovely green vegetation all around. However, since it was a nice day and the wait was 20 minutes for two people, we sat inside right away. It was just after 1pm and we were hungry now!! The service was quick and efficient. My husband had a tuna melt which was delicious. All fresh ingredients and hand made. I was boring and had a salad. Again, all fresh crispy ingredients.
