And honestly, it wasn't that much more expensive than going to one of those places. Don't get me wrong, I love my mechanic. But he is REALLY far away and all we needed was new tires. So when I heard Carl would pick up tires, come to my house and the most I had to do was hand over my credit card... sign me up!! I called him and he said he had a little later appointment, but he could make it work. We had a miscommunication about whether I had the tires or not and he came. They even worked outside in the snow to install the wheels. Tires come with installation and balancing. Calling ahead for sizing and availability would be a good idea; however, after walking through their warehouse to pick out my preferred set, I'd say that they are well-stocked. You might even find a match for your current set if you're only replacing two and you have a common size wheel. The walkthrough revealed that they keep things more organized and tidy than most mom-and-pop shops. Only negatives here are that they only offer a 7 days warranty (competitors in this space typically offer 30) and that you don't know the history of the tire (but that's the deal when you're buying wholesale or pull-off tires). Overall, quick service (in and out in less than 20 minutes), and a great value: was able to get great-looking, low-mileage, name-brand tires (Toyo 225/55R18 with probably 70% tread remaining) for only $80. Two tires, balanced and installed, for less than the price of a single generic brand tire before tax at retail, and even less than the $100 you'd pay at a competitor.
