The young tech that showed up wasted no time after interviewing me as to what I had attempted to do to "fix" the problems and solved the problem with both air conditioners. He advised me of several options. An immediate partial fix and two other permanent solutions. The expertise, professionalism and customer service has restored my faith in businesses in general. I used them for service for several years and for two complete hvac replacements to the tune of…read more$17,000. They replaced the units about 3 years ago and we realized that the drain line is plumbed incorrectly not allowing water to drain. All drain lines are clear of debris and unit has been checked by another hvac company. I can activity watch the water drain into the pan rather than the main drain line. I called and asked AAA Air Control to check it out and I could send pictures in showing that it is plumbed wrong compared to the same exact unit they installed on the other side of the attic. They saw if they would not come out, would not look at it and not to send pictures. I recently sent them a referral for a new install as well and they no-called, no- showed. They used to be great but now seem indifferent to any service standards or customer loyalty and any time I have requested a appointment for service now, they always say they are backed up a month or two and Al cannot come out. So disappointing to watch what was a great company become like this everyone else and take your money and run, like a grifter . At the end of my call pleading with them to assist me, the office manager, Darlene hung up on me.

Two days after the installation, the system stopped working again. When they returned, we were told there was now a hole in the coil and that it would be another $5,000 to repair or $16,000 for a completely new system. At that point, we decided to get additional opinions. Multiple HVAC companies quoted us significantly lower pricing. We learned that the condenser we paid $5,200 for typically costs around $3,000 installed. We ultimately had a brand-new system (the same model we already had) installed by another company for $7,000, less than half of what we were quoted. When we raised our concerns, the only explanation given was that they "don't get as good of pricing as other companies." Our experience left us feeling like they don't even try to properly diagnose, they just throw in expensive parts and hope for the best. We are also feeling duped because we obviously paid well above market rate for the work performed. We strongly recommend using ANYONE else.

The system for our main zone wasn't cooling so we called another company that came out and topped…read moreoff the (very low) refrigerant. They said it was likely pinhole leaks in the evaporator coil and that the re-charge would likely last a year or so. Four days later the refrigerant in that zone was gone and so we had to replace the unit. I got bids from three companies (including Sierra -- the company that originally installed our systems). Their price was lower than the competition on an apple-to-apples comparison. Their team of three (lead by John) came out on schedule the following Monday, replaced the system and, as a result, we were sleeping cool that evening. Our other zone was acting up -- not cooling my office -- and so Ray, the owner, and John came out this morning and did a thermal survey and blower door test to check the quality of the insulation and ductwork. That all checked out fine -- the issue was, again, low refrigerant in the second zone. After topping it up and making a couple of adjustments to the system (undoing what another company did years earlier and, truth-be-told, a homeowner remedy), the second zone is now cool and quiet. The Sierra Air folks are prompt, responsive, friendly, knowledgeable and very cost competitive. They will be our "go-to" HVAC team from now on.
