NEVER a let down. A bit noisy, but we go for a top notch breakfast, not a quiet atmosphere. Always very accomodating and kind.

McKay's is the best, but don't tell anyone. Like all great restaurants in Bend, you have to wait at peak hours most of the time. Food is the best! Service is great, cozy cottage with history and charm. Owner is friendly and they change the menu often enough to keep you coming back. read more

We love this place! It's a favorite, especially when we get to sit outside with the blankets they provide and a hot cup of coffee! We take out of town guests to McKay Cottage often, always confident they will be delighted with great service and breakfast! Parking can be difficult, but there is overflow parking... almost always a waiting list, but well worth it!! One of Bend's Best!! read more

We had a fantastic breakfast at McKays Cottage. The place was packed on a Monday morning, but we were seated right away at a table on the lawn. I had the Sherman Camp Hash and my husband had the Tuscan Omelette. Everything tasted fresh and expertly prepared. The coffee was great too. read more

We were taken back by the 35 minute wait for inside and opted for an outside table. The bonfire table was surprisingly warm and we were amazed by the blankets offered for outside seating. They kept us cozy and comfortable! We were greeted by the friendliest and most welcoming server, Heather. She exceeded our expectations and made us, a couple of tourists, feel right at home. We ordered the breakfast burrito and the breakfast sandwich. The breakfast sandwich which flooded my mouth with flavors and I especially enjoyed the lemon aioli. The breakfast burrito was also really tasty and rewardingly satisfying! There portions were above average and met our needs when we were about halfway through our meals. Based on a recommendation by another employee, Claudia, we also ordered the marionberry scone. It was the perfect addition to our meal! We will definitely be back if we are ever in the area again! read more

Friendly wait staff. I had the salmon hash with eggs Benedict. It came with a huge butter scone and homemade marionberry preserves. There was so much food that I took more than half of it home with me. It was our guest's first time there and the waiter sent home 2 marionberry scones on the house for them to enjoy. The worst part of the experience is the wait time. But then they even make that enjoyable by supplying on the house coffee. read more

What a gem. Excellent service. Delicious food. Such friendly staff. What more could you ask for? There was a 30 minute wait for inside service so we had an option to sit outside on the patio. They have tables with fire pits in the middle and plenty of blankets. The hostess assured us that the food would be out in 7 minutes if we sat outside. Well, it was out in probably less than 5 and was more delicious than imagined! Awesome place, will be back for sure. read more

Since breakfast is my favorite meal, and after reading reviews for McKay's Cottage I was looking forward to dining here. I have to admit it was a terrible disappointment. Breakfast began with a scone, which was more cake like than "scone". I ordered a simple eggs, chicken sausage and cottage potatoes. The sausage had little flavor and the potatoes were terrible. They were sliced and fried, with no seasoning or taste what so ever. Our server left no impression. Next time in Bend I will definitely be on the lookout for another restaurant for breakfast. read more

What a brunch! We had a wait time of around 30-45mins but it was totally worth the wait. Great outdoor seating area and amazing food!

This is great place for food and good service. The problem is that there is very little parking. The last two times that we tried to patronize McKay's around 10 AM, we could not find a parking place. If one finds a parking space, there is a wait. Not worth the aggravation and frustration. read more

Every time I go in the food is on point and amazing. More times then not the service matches the quality of the food. Except for one waitress named Josie. She's not very kind, doesn't make you feel welcome and doesn't offer you the special of the day or their special drink for the day. Rule of thumb, you don't leave your table hanging for 10 minutes while they are patiently waiting for their bill. Also, the excellent customer service should come from both the host and the waitress. The host did circles around our waitress in terms of customer service. For example, she brought us our bill and our scones to go. Maybe Josie was having a bad day but for today I was given terrible customer service and hope my next experience at McKays will include a warm smile with an offering of the specials for the day and a kind good bye. This is my favorite breakfast place in town. Tough to get into at any time of day or day of the week so that tells you something. I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of link sausage and house potatoes. I took half of it home for breakfast the next day. The best biscuits and gravy that I have ever had and the sausages were a good size. The bakery items looked to die for. I need to try their carrot cake next time. read more

They have the best food here!! It's a must go if you are in bend. Keep in mind that the wait is typically pretty long due to the popularity of the restaurant. I would suggest checking in, then finding something to do while you are waiting. It has a very quaint atmosphere. One of my go to's! read more

This is a very cute place, but we were disappointed with our breakfast; mostly because the country fried potatoes were really, really dry and didn't seem fresh. My omelette was very good, but my wife had a scramble and since that is loaded with potatoes it was very disappointing. If anyone at McKay reads this, fix the potatoes. :-) read more

It's a home converted into a restaurant. As you walk in there is a glass case and counter full of pastries and cakes. If there is no room to wait never fear coffee and and over head heaters are on the porch. The cottage is very quaint and is family friendly. What you will find is a redo / upcycle of some of your favorite foods. Such as the Hoodoo Hash... they used sweet potatoes, caramelized onions, red peppers, beef brisket, two poached eggs topped with hollandaise. Of course it was amazing but this may not be what you are looking for if it is cheap eats and comfort foods. read more

McKay Cottage Restaurant turned out to be a special treat on our visit to Bend. We asked locals where they would recommend if they only had a couple days in town. Everyone agreed that McKay is a 'must do'. The inside is charming, but we opted for truly unique outdoor breakfast. Free coffee while we waited, seated at a fire pit table and lap blankets provided in case you get cold. Everything we tried was simply great--including the homemade ketchup. My grandson and I ate here about 3 weeks ago. It was my first time. I ordered a special; potatoes with double smoked sausage with an egg/hollandaise sauce on a portion of potatoes. It was delicious. My grandson said his lemon pancakes was delicious also. The service was really good. read more

Definitely worth the wait. My family and I went on a busy Saturday morning during our vacation. The wait was about 45 minutes, but you can order drinks while you wait, so we sipped delicious bloody marys in the sun until our table was called. Our server was very polite and attentive considering how busy it was. We all ordered different meals and everything was fantastic. No complaints whatsoever. And definitely get the scone with your meal because OH MY GOD! It is so good! read more

Menu had all kinds of delicious selections for the light eater to a more hearty breakfast like the special: short rib hash with caramelized onions, poached eggs, and a chipotle hollandaise.
