In I.E. for 'Cheers' Wine event at Pomona Fairplex; McKinley Grille pop-up served 'tasting' of fried chicken cutlet, creamy mashed potatoes & tender-perfectly seasoned braised collard greens : SOOOOO YUMMMMMYYY! So our group of 7 wanted 'more' LOL - & we decided to try McKinley's for an early Sunday lunch but they were out of chicken & greens! Talk about disappointed.... But everything we ordered tasted amazing : appetizers of tempora seafood & veggies and chicken wings: all crispy & delicious!! Patti melt was the best I've ever had : a mix of ground brisket & ground beef on parmesan crusted brioche, with just the right mix of sweet onions & tangy dressing : Perfection! I ordered the Caesar Salad & added salmon - it was absolutely DELECTABLE! Cooked & seasoned 2 perfectly, 1.of the best ive ever had....LOVED IT! I live about 75 miles away but will definately be back when I'm out here visiting family/friends. The manager who broke the news of 'no chicken or greens' was so accommodating & personable. Our server was patient even with all our questions & specific requests. Server was working the room alone yet still kept our needs met while waiting on multiple tables! I stay about 3 days every year for the county fair... I have never been dissapointed with their breakfast here. Always fresh and so delicious! They always had free continental breakfast with hotel stay, but that changed this year The best staff here is Patricia Have seen her year after year. She is very attentive and let's you know what is on menu and all about it's freshness... oh, and keeps the coffee, juice and all other beverages flowing. Super nice and always smiling. This place is clean, quiet (morning time, anyway) and has a beautiful view to outside patio. I will always come back here, even if breakfast is no longer free with hotel stay. read more

For various reasons I do not recommend McKinley Grille 1. Looks and tastes like hospital food 2. Not worth the money I feel the quality is not up to par 3. Our waitress was a little behind on filling mimosa for my daughter in law and even took to long to just get us water and honestly it was not that busy 4. The dessert stations needs improvement not only was there not much of selection they were not great just mediocre 5. The piano played music was a little too loud either you move him a little further out or lower the volume. *Note this was on Buffet Brunch I'm sorry if you're charging significant amount you should provide better quality. The food was cold and service from our waitress was very inattentive. For being Mother's Day and 75$ a plate I would have expected top notch service and decent food. I got neither. They had a nice outdoor area and pasta bar with a great server and that was all that I can say positive about the experience. My family was asking if we could go to in n out afterwards. Hidden in the excitement of the Fairplex ground lies this gem of a restaurant that's open to the public neighboring the Sheraton hotel. The ambiance was very lowkey, chill and inviting. Staff was very attentive in providing service from the moment we walked in the door. We were greeted with smiles and a warm invite despite not having a reservation. The food was beyond superb. There was an open window in where we were able to see the chefs prepare our food fresh every time. As we devoured our delectable meal we were made aware that 60% of their ingredients are sourced from a local farm AND are made from scratch. The quality is immaculate! 12/10 recommend. Huge plus that it is 8 mins. from Cal Poly Pomona! A great spot to study and grab a bite. read more

2nd attempt dining here. 1st time, when I ordered a beer, the server looked so confused and had to confer with the manager, which was odd. After nearly 20 min, no drink and no server to be found, so we just left. Today, we went there for another try for breakfast - we are the 1st table of the day, and again, the host/server had to confer with a manager about where to seat us. There was a buffet set up and when we inquired about it the host/server asked us if we were with a group referring to a the name Stafford, we said no and she let us know that the buffet was for that particular group. Once we finally got sat, we ordered a hot chocolate, and when the same host dropped it off to the table, we asked for whipped cream. She said they did not have any, which sounded odd. Our server greets us, and i ordered an irish coffee - she brings it, and i asked for whipped cream to see if a different person said the same thing - she happily brought me some...wtf? By this time, more diners are coming in, and we notice many people walking up to the buffet to make a plate, but we figured they are part of the group. After we paid and left, I decided to call and check to see if it was a buffet open to all or if it was for a private group, I was told it was a buffet open to all.... again, wtf? This place is like being in an episode of the twilight zone, and everyone is under some kind of creepy mind controll and cannot deviate from their programming..... Was here for the first time on 12/27/22 by invitation to a lunchtime presentation (unrelated to the restaurant or hotel) which included a choice of five entrees. I chose the McKinley's Burger ($19) and was not disappointed! The half-pound brisket & chuck patty was flavorful, and cooked perfectly to medium rare, bacon was crisp and the cheddar cheese was appropriately melted (the server did not ask if I wanted any condiments, and I would have asked for some mustard . . . the bun is dry). The salad was exceptionally fresh . . . it ought to be since all the greens and tomatoes are grown out back (maybe the onions, too?) and definitely a better choice than french fries or "sweet" fries. The restaurant wasn't busy and the service was appropriate. Although the prices are a bit higher than comparable restaurants, I would return . . . it's only about 4 miles from home. read more

All the dishes were neat and clean and presented well. The food quality was far better than the price, and overall, it was a steal of a deal. I was very surprised. Grabbed dinner while staying here for a work trip. Right away the service was great, very friendly and on top of it. We ordered a variety of food. We started with a flatbread and it was great! Flavorful, cheesy, and the crust had a nice crunch. We shared the fried chicken sandwich, the Short ribs, and a Cobb salad. The chicken sandwich was excellent. The fry on the meat was light and crunchy. They put a lot of pickles on it, which (personally) is a great addition.The short ribs fell off the bone! No knife needed!! The corn was sweet, and the mashed potatoes creamy. The only thing we weren't huge fans of was the Cobb salad. It had an overwhelming amount of egg and that's all you tasted. Even with the dressing you couldn't taste it- but you knew it was there because the lettuce was wet. We also ordered all three of the the desserts ( vacation right!?!). The creme brûlée was delicious!!! The layer of sugar cracked perfectly, and the mix of the custard and that crunch was delicious. The cheesecake was great! A definite go to that never lets you down. The mixed berry dessert was good, but be ready for something VERY tart. We would definitely try this place again. read more

A colleague and I had dinner here last night and really enjoyed the food. We sat in the dining room rather than the bar area as it was crowded and way too loud in there, but we were very frustrated with the slow service we received. We sat for quite a while before getting the tastes of wine we requested and when we finally agreed to purchase a bottle, there was another long wait!! Possibly close to 40 minutes by this time. We ordered our dinner & asked for the salad to come out first. It never did. And when we hit the 1-hour mark, I went to find the server & he said the salad was coming with the entree's. By this time we were starving and disappointed. The server was very friendly, but he kept saying he was busy. I understand busy, I've worked In many restaurants in the past, but if we could have had our wine quicker & salad first & sooner, it would have been much better! My colleague is from out of town & was staying at the Sheraton. I live locally & know there are several great restaurants located about 2 miles of this location, so the service is important. The food was delicious! The server was nice. But the slow service was a detriment. The birthday dessert was excellent & a nice treat at the end. I've never been here and looking at the photos I thought it was going to be pretty fancy. Their prices were a little pricy though. For a Wednesday night it wasn't crowded which was nice. Their menu is limited so something to keep in mind but they do have vegetarian, fish, chicken, and beef options but they have one or two items of these dishes. From Farm fresh to the table, this restaurant is conveniently located inside the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel this is perfect for breakfast lunch and dinner and they have a bar that's perfect for your favorite happy hour cocktails. Breakfast starts at 6:30am and is a la carte or buffet style. The buffet has everything you need for a good start of your day, from scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, to a cereal bar, oatmeal, fruit bar and pastries. For lunch, I had asked for bbq style wings versus the buffalo wings and WOW, the most largest and juiciest I've ever had and so good! Happy consisted of beer & tequila but what I loved about the bar was it was very engaging. Patrons were having great conversations and we found ourselves laughing it up in great company. Shout out to our hosts: Frankie, Kelly, To end my night, it was a simple flatbread with pepperoni. If you are staying here at the Fairplex, do know that you don't need to go far for a nice restaurant experience, there's one already there. :) read more

Ok. Short but to the point. I have been coming here for several months when I'm in town. It's inside the Sheraton Fairplex hotel. This is an excellent place, never crowded but the best drinks and food! Some of the locals come here. Where can you watch the chef cook your food and you get the food within seconds! Best burgers and "hot fries that are not soggy but crisp". Best I have every had! Simple 4 choices on the entrees. Great salads! I'm a long time road warrior and I recommend the hotel and the restaurant too. Great prices too! So ditch the other burger places that are crowded, noisy, with crowded parking and long waits. If you are any place close to Pomona, Claremont, LaVerne, San Dimas, etc. Get an authentic home made burger made by chefs and eat it with great hot fries, and drinks served by great people providing great service! P.s. Also great margaritas with a secret ingredient ... best I've had. Like a bit of lemonade with a shot of sunshine! We stayed at the Sheraton hotel and of course my wife and I were looking for a nice in house breakfast option. Let me tell you everything we had to eat was delicious! From the eggs Benedict that were poached to perfection to the brioche French toast with Nutella and banana topping recommended by our sensational server Patricia! Patricia was wonderful and a pleasure to meet and converse with... she met our every need and made sure our glasses of water and orange juice never ran low. She brought us everything we needed and met every one of our requests. Even though she was wearing a mask we could tell she did it all with a smile! The burgers were delicious and done to our liking. However, the restaurant is not run well. People walking all over and not accomplishing much. Waited over 5 minutes to be seated and the restaurant was practically empty. Was seated at a table for two, even though we were carrying a lot of items to bring to our room. Was sat at a table that needed cleaning. Wet rag cleaned table and then paper menu was laid on wetness. Waited 15 minutes for our drinks and a half hour for our meal. Manager, Kathy, very pleasant, almost too ingratiating....probably trying to make up for the lack of service. I was sitting and watching couples come in to be seated. One couple had the lady holding a dozen red roses....special occasion? They waited over 5 minutes to even be acknowledged. Will never dine there again. Staff needs an inservice on how to efficiently run the place. read more

I'm not familiar with the area and booked McKinley's Grille off of Open Table. It was not until I showed up that I realized this restaurant is just part of the Sheraton (it's their on site restaurant for hotel guests). The food and service was average (the waitress spilled coffee on our table and forgot parts of our order, there was a half a cup of milk in a coffee mug already on our table, the host forgot to bring our daughter a high chair, etc). We were celebrating my mom's birthday and this was an overall disappointing experience. Had I known this restaurant is just the Sheraton hotel restaurant I would have booked elsewhere, so flagging that here so others are aware. read more

We have been here a couple of times already, and it never disappoints. It's a cute, quaint restaurant attached to the Sheraton Pomona Fairplex that specializes in farm to table, organic food. Tonight we came here for Valentine's Day dinner and ordered from the prefixed 3 course Valentine's Day menu. Appetizers: My hubby ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab corn chowder and I ordered the Heirloom Tomato and burrata salad . I got to taste my hubby's chowder, it was creamy and had a good amounts of crab meat. The corn gave it a nice sweet note . My salad was light and fresh, and seasoned just right. It was the perfect precursor for my main course. My hubby and I both ordered the short rib. Oh boy were we pleasantly surprised! We got a huge piece of shirt rib topped with crispy fried onion strings. The short rib was juicy and just fell apart once I cut into it with my fork. The top of the short rib was perfectly crisped and carmalized. This delicious hunk of meat rested on top a rich and creamy bed of polenta and baby carrots. I seriously couldn't stop eating it! I MADE myself stop because I knew i had to save room of course of dessert! For dessert we opted to share our chocolate heart cake and take the other to go. The chocolate heart cake was delicious! Silky smooth chocolate mousse with berries! Perfect for Valentine's! The Chef also came around and greeted customers, which was sweet! Such a fabulous Valentine's day dinner. My only complaint is that many of the bussers were always so eager to take away our plates even though we still had food on them! Geez! I am a Business Partner with several Colleges in the area (Cal Poly Pomona, Claremont Graduate University, University of La Verne) and have been attending Business Meetings/Lunches at McKinley's Grille for several years. Over the years I have seen a decline in the quality of not only service at the restaurant but the cleanliness. Of late, It has taken on average 20 minutes to order food & beverages, 20 additional minutes to receive your order, and once our meal (and beverages arrive) we have been besieged by gnats, and other flying insects. I called McKinley's Grille today to inform them of this issue and am hoping for a swift resolution. read more

We came here for the breakfast buffet while staying at the hotel. The main issue was price: it was overpriced ($26/person) for what was offered. Other than that, the breakfast buffet itself was great. The food itself was good: scrambled eggs - not bad, and about what you would expect for bulk scrambled eggs. Diner-style potatoes, which were tasty and had a lovely seasoning. Sausage, bacon. Pancakes with syrup, also not bad. And granola, yogurt, small boxes of cereal, fresh fruit, toast, jam, and muffins. Bottomless coffee and orange juice. With few exceptions, the ingredients seemed to be of great quality. Where it did not meet my expectations was the lack of variety. Given the price, I would have liked the option of plant-based sausages, additional sides and condiments available without having to request them from staff (pico de gallo, hot sauce, sauteed peppers and onions, etc), maple syrup instead of regular syrup, etc. I know that things are crazy with the economy, and inflation is insane, but these small touches would make a big difference. The breakfast as it stood cost a lot more than what I would have expected. The coffee was not bad (very dark roast though). The wait staff was incredibly kind and helpful, though they seemed overworked/short-staffed. Our group felt comfortable and not rushed at all. I cannot say enough great things about the restaurant staff. The ambience is lovely, and the outdoor patio is gorgeous. It is nice to have the convenience of a good restaurant within the hotel. I would recommend the breakfast buffet with the only caveat that it was overpriced. read more

At a family function. Currently. We are 2 hours in. 90 minutes after ordering. Zero water refills. Zero beverage refills. No food. One round of bread. No indication of when things might be ready? Oh, maybe it's really busy? No. This place is 60% empty. We are most of the people here. The menu was pre fixe. This is literally the worst - worst - management and customer service I can remember in a restaurant. Do. Not. Come. Here. Under. Any. Circumstances. Message to the business: do not respond to this. Do not send the obligatory "so sorry, contact us for follow up" message. Just take the L and switch careers. read more
