However, I was disappointed to find that no additional cardio machines were added (only the broken ones removed) and no fans were installed in the old basketball court, now repurposed as a cardio room. Less than two weeks after reopening, the location closed again due to an emergency utility repair, which may have been related to the leaking pool (clearly not updated during the renovation). Before the renovation, I canceled my membership set to renew in April. With EOS opening across the street, I will definitely check them out!

In May while on a business trip I made the decision I needed to not only lose weight but get healthy and stronger with weight training. The manager paired me with trainer, Matt Fox (IG: @fitnessfox87) He is AMAZING. If you are sitting on the fence and wonder what you may need to do, it is hire PT and reach out to Matt! You will not be disappointed. He pushes me and has taught me so much about myself. I am 22 weeks in. I train with Matt 2-3 times a week. I then go in on my own for extra cardio boost. I am down 38lbs and lots of inches gone! When I joined and started going the gym was gross. Equipment dusty, floors dirty just gross. They since closed upgraded equipment, remodeled and deep cleaned the location. I am hoping they stay on task with the cleanliness as it is important to uphold. Give the gym a try but most importantly ask for Matt Fox to help you meet your own personal goals.

I have been a member of Lifetime Fitness for over 20 years (based at the Plano and Allen…read morefacilities) For a place that calls itself an "Athletic Country Club" with the continually increasing prices to match, this place does not live up to the moniker. In particular, as a customer of the Allen Spa I have never understood why the spa did not have it's own bathroom facility. Massages, facials, and hair appointments frequently take a while. It is reasonable that someone would want to use the restroom before, during or after a service. The idea that you have to walk across the entire facility to the locker rooms for their 5 aged and sad looking stalls in the ladies locker room seemed ridiculous and potentially embarrassing. So the "brilliant" answer was using the much closer "family" bathroom in the "family" locker room. That was workable, but certainly not a great answer. And now they have decided that Spa clients are no longer allowed to use the "family" bathroom. I do not know the real reasons why, but I assume it has something to do with not being a "family." Locked out! So we are now fully expected to trek our foiled, caped and oily bodies across the very large and very public facility to those previously mentioned locker rooms. I know of no country club that would expect its members to parade around in such a manner, nor inconvenience their hard working stylists and therapists with a bathroom so very far away. I really wish the Lifetime would fix this situation. It makes visiting the Spa stressful rather than Zenlike and peaceful....which is how a spa should feel.

I trained with Anna Hubbard and honestly she is probably the rudest person I have ever came into contact with. She didn't pay attention to me while I was performing an exercise, she made rude and amuse comments about OTHER members (almost making fun of the way they were exercising), and she had this whole attitude towards me like she was BETTER than me. I first thought it was my imagination but after speaking with several other members regarding my experience they only CONFIRMED my HORRIBLE experience. I never give bad reviews but after almost leaving in tears because she commented on my weight and how there was no wonder why I am the size I am, I will NEVER be visiting this location again.

Just left him screaming for 15 minutes!!!!!! They couldn't find me because the information about where I would be working out was on his sticker, which was LOCKED IN THR BATHROOM WITH HIM!!!!! By the time I got to him, he had no idea why he was locked in a bathroom all by himself. He was SHAKING and hysterically crying, snot everywhere, and so confused and scared! I am absolutely appalled that they could do this to a 3 year old child. He had absolutely no idea what was going on. What if there had been a fire? Would they just leave my child locked in that bathroom? What if he had fallen down? Would they just leave him by himself bleeding until they found me?! I have no confidence that Apex Center can take care of children after what I just saw. I will be reporting this to the state. Absolutely negligent! I would never recommend the Kid Care here. Absolutely appalling. He has not stopped crying and has snot in his hair, and in his eyebrows from being left in that bathroom scared and alone. He was shaking and screaming with snot falling to the floor --- that's how I found my baby! No workers near the door, no one checking on my 3 year old! I am appalled and my child was traumatized. Childcare should not be offered here if this is what they do to 3 year olds. Reporting to the state.

So torn how to rate them because I love the idea of the place, but it's just so filthy. I've seen…read moreso many reviews of how clean they are, but in my experience, it's the dirtiest gym I've ever been. I see some of the trainers push around a mini dust buster or use dirty, dust coated dusters pushing around more dust and dirt, but I've never seen anything be sanitized or any cleaning products come out. The corners of the gym and the bottom of every machine are coated in dirt and dust. The sign in desk is always coated in a layer of dust. They don't even bother to turn on the fans anymore because they are so dusty. I mean COATED. Speaking of fans, it's always boiling hot in there. It's uncomfortable. They need to spend a little money and have the place professionally cleaned minimum once a week. All other gyms I've belonged to hired DAILY cleaners. I don't think once a week, especially when they're only open 6 days, in a building where people sweat and touch things all day, is asking too much. They also need to get rid of their (basically empty) glade plug ins. Somehow the gym rarely smells, which is great, but those plug ins emit VOCs and are terrible for your lungs. That's the last thing you need to worry about in a gym where breathing is key. And crank up the AC year round. I know it's expensive, but that's the nature of the business. I wish they had a few more machines, but for the size of the place they have a nice set up. It could be a great little neighborhood gym. I enjoy going, I'm just always worried about getting overheated or sick. They have a good thing going here. Everyone is nice and respectful. Just needs some TLC.

In addition to the treadmill for 45 minutes, I am also working out with weights. Jonathon is a very methodical trainer. We get a lot done in those 30 minutes of weight training. Jonathon is an excellent communicator. He enjoys talking and making sure that your form is on par. He genuinely cares about his clients. The gym is very adequately furnished. The price of membership is very reasonable. I believe it is only $20 per month. There are no children allowed in the facility. I will continue to come here six days a week and train. Since starting, I have lost over 60 pounds.
