Intially went to McKInney dentist for an implant estimate. Instead ended up with a couple of teeth extractions. They removed two teeth charged us over $800.00 total. Our part was $355 and the insurance covered the rest. Left part of one of the teeth inside my mouth and then sent us an addtional invoice for almost another $200. (Which we refused to pay). Now they have sent the bill to a third-party collections company. Funny thing is I never received an estimate for the implants which was the reason of going to Mckinney Dentist in the first place. Strongly advise to STAY away! Don't write many negative reviews unless they deserve it. read more

I switched to McKinney Dentist after my husband starting going and have never looked back. The quality of care every single person that works there provides is nothing like anywhere else. The team of doctors started this practice with a purpose and a passion to help and they each have their own gifts. The front office staff greet you kindly and are glad to be there and the back office try and make your visits as comfortable as possible. Over the years my teeth have changed a lot due to cancer treatments and autoimmune disease that most recently underwent a Total Smile Redo. This came with its own challenges that I would say were my own reaction's and shock to my mouth and Dr. Berlin has been nothing but attentive to all my needs to getting me better so I can go back to enjoying life and smiling big! Having been new to the area and having left my dentist of 30 years, it was important to me to find a reliable replacement. An acquaintance suggested this company. My first appointment went well, however, when asked if I "grind my teeth" and saying that I probably did, I was immediately told I needed a $700 mouth guard. Next stop was the "dental plan/finance" desk and I fell for it. I should have said that I wanted to wait and think about it as well as check if we had the money to pay for it but I didn't. I signed the paperwork and they did it at that moment. This was the first time this was ever suggested to me ever. When I picked up the device I was given a bleaching kit as a bonus gift. I went back one more time 6 months later and had a different hygienist. She told me I would probably have to have several crowns replaced, a possible root canal and wisdom teeth removed. The dentist who examined me was only concerned about my older crowns even though I have had zero issues with them. Again, leaving the office we were asked to set up a treatment plan. I didn't give it a second thought this time and just kept on walking. We found another highly recommended family owned dental office with equally updated equipment and a smaller, more intimate staff nearby. None of the issues above were mentioned in my visits to the new practice and have had no issues detected over the last year with them. My perception of McK Dentist is that they are very friendly, the cookies and coffee are a nice touch, the office is clean and spacious but one should beware of possible upselling via a very quick push for a dental plan and subsequent appointment(s). read more

2.8 stars is NOT accurate. This must be a yelp fluke! This place is incredible. I am 38 now and first started coming here when I was in high school. I mostly come here for periodontal root/plane & scraping/maintenance (which they're awesome at btw). I went to a handful of places in between & NO other dental office has come close. Also, free nitrous oxide...if you have anxiety--it makes going to the dentist a real treat. Today, came in for something I was sure was a cavity....saw Shayla (dental assist, I believe I'm getting her name right). Shayla was kind, genuine, good energy & communicated with me in a way I really need/appreciate....she also listened to me (which can be rare for the amt of info exchanged). Dr. Morkos....blew it out of the water. Knowledgeable, highly skilled, efficient & fast to boot--add friendiness + good energy & you have a recipe for quite possible the most perfect dentist I've seen. From the minute I walk in door to when I leave it is perfect. The front staff awesome, my hygienist Yessica, the assistant to Dr. Maddox Marsha was top notch. My son and I have been going to McKinney Dentist since around 2010. When they were much, much smaller. Now that they have grown into a much bigger practice, the service is dismal, which is unfortunate, because I absolutely LOVED our dental hygienist Cynthia. She has always been AMAZING!!!! I recently requested a transfer of all of our dental records, X-rays, scans, etc. of dental work and surgeries for our family, and was refused. In addition, they don't except insurance for anesthesiology, which is a financial NIGHTMARE for any type of dental surgery. I no longer recommend them to anyone. Instead of focusing on growing into a bigger practice for more money, maybe consider the thoughtfulness and care that you used to give to your original patients. read more

after my regular hygenist left, i tried to make an appointment with the hygenist that worked with mine, and knew my case really well. a few days before my appnt, the ofc called to ask me to r/s my appnt bc i could not see the hygenist that knew my case, that she would not be seeing me going forward, and that the cleanings would now be 200. this and each time going forward, even though being covered under bcbs dental insurance with cleanings being covered as twice a year maintenence, then i was told if i did not come to my appnt then my warrenty would be voided. no thank you!! i do not reccomend this place ..... shady shady shady money practices!!! read more

Before anything i did my research called this office and made sure they accepted Veteran patients they said yes just needed the referral. Fast forward i finally got my referral they scheduled me did my first appointment consultation, said they needed another referral for approval of treatment. I called this week twice. First they said they did not receive it, three days laters they tell me they will not be scheduling VA patients anymore because the VA has not paid them. But my issue is if they knew the VA has not been paying them why schedule me in the first place. I am in such a big pain from my tooth because it broke just to be told i will not be seen like seriously a month later you tell me i am in terrible pain all day now when i could've searched a different dental clinic and had it taken care of. read more

I have been seeing the dentists at MckinneyDentist.com since I moved to McKinney in 2013. Vicky is my hygienist. She is the very best. The entire staff is very friendly. The dentist take the time to explain any needed procedures and to let you know what your options are. They will also provide you a printout with your estimated payment portion of the procedure (always follow-up with your dental insurer and get a written estimate to be sure). They pay attention to detail and always are willing to talk if you have any questions. I always have a cup of their coffee or tea plus one of their cookies when I leave. read more

This practice is horrible. First, I went in to see them for a chipped front tooth. During my exam, Dr Markham told me that I needed to replace both front teeth. I agreed. Dr. Markham injected a new numbing agent Into my upper gum. During the numbing period, someone from the front office came in to explained my payment options! Really?? And demand that I pay them on the spot. They couldn't even wait till I was out of the damn chair!! Alright here is the juicy part. After the procedure, I had a reaction to the new novocaine. My lips stayed numb for hours then days after the procedure. My top lip became so swollen, it almost split open. I looked like a duck. I had to call Dr. Markham. This went on from Saturday till Monday. He had to call another doctor to see me on Monday to address this issue. This practice is only concerned about getting paid. For starters, getting an appointment at one of their locations that is convenient to you is tough. They have a couple different office locations and at one appointment they might send you to one - then at the next appointment they send you to a different one. And I'm glad to know I must have paid for half of their new office building. My husband went for a cleaning and check up. Nearly $1K later - several x-rays and consultations later - he finally got a cleaning. Wow was that expensive. They really pushed for all the bells and whistles: implants which were quoted to be $11K AFTER INSURANCE. I think they mistook us for the Trump family. Will we go back? Heck no. Even with Dental Insurance we cannot afford this mob. Felt like I had been mugged without a gun. Do they do good work? We wouldn't know. The staff was nice, no issues there. However, the prices are pretty outrageous and I would urge others to do research before getting work done there. I was quoted approximately 1700 for a crowning on one tooth, and although the associates were very eager to have the procedure done that same day, I declined and said I wanted to compare pricing. I called multiple dental offices and the prices were substantially lower, in fact one office quoted me 1,000! Even doing research online, I can see that the price was highly inflated. really wanted to love this practice. The staff are very kind, everyone has great bedside manner and professionalism. But after my experience today, I feel compelled to write this review to help educate others on how their healthcare expenses can be affected by the practices here. I need a crown. I've unfortunately had many, and am well aware that there are options. Stainless steel, different grades of porcelain, same day, etc. As a patient who is paying a large out of pocket charge for a crown, I am entitled to choose what I want based on my preferences and how much I am willing to pay. When I buy a car I choose how much to spend. I buy what I want based on what I CHOOSE to pay and how spending more or less money will affect other choices I make for my family. Unfortunately, when it comes to healthcare the rules are confusing and it's not always clear what options are available. And unfortunately, at this practice, they do not give you any options and if you aren't knowledgeable that other options exist, you could be out of pocket hundreds of dollars more than you might choose to spend if you knew you had other options. I was given one and only one option for a crown, at an out of pocket cost of $944. I requested the lowest cost option, and was told this was it - take it or leave it. I was very clear that I knew there were other options available such as stainless steel and wanted to see those options, and again was assured this is all they offer. So I left and went back to my prior dental practice and confirmed that yes, there were MANY other options, starting as low as $330 out of pocket. Next week I get my cheap crown. Maybe I'll be sorry, but I doubt it. Regardless, it is MY choice that I made with full knowledge that I could get a $330 crown OR a $944 crown. And I could get THREE crowns for the same price so unless it truly is so inferior that it lasts less than 1/3 as long, I'm still ahead in my book. I am not saying they were trying to cheat me, the crown they proposed is likely a good one and well may have cost $900 anywhere. They weren't misleading me about the out of pocket cost for that option. But I don't want the BMW crown, it's in the back of my mouth and I'm not interested in spending $600 extra. Just like I'm not forced to buy a BMW, I should not be forced (by a lack of options and information) into buying something that is not what I would choose if I had all the necessary information. It's MY decision whether to buy a top of the line crown or use the $600 for something else my family needs. If I didn't know any better, I would have agreed to a $944 crown. This practice of not giving patients any other options, in my opinion, is not acceptable. I'm sure LOTS of people just agree to pay that price and their family goes without other things they really need, but hey, they have a top of the line crown that no one will ever see but the dentist. There is NOTHING wrong with buying the top of the line crown if that matters to you. But you should not be forced into it because one dental practice tells you it's the only option. Dental work is important for overall health, and I have an issue with people being forced to pay more than they need to, or go without because they can't afford it. How many people have just walked away and not gotten NEEDED work done, because they thought it was $944 or nothing and they didn't have $944? That's not right. Is it really worse to have a cheap stainless steel crown than to let your teeth become more damaged because you can't afford the top of the line crown? I realize it's not the practice's job to make you aware of these things, but I also think it's wrong to use people's lack of knowledge against them, and in my opinion that is happening with this practice. This issue is bigger than just this dental practice, obviously. My other practice tries to upsell me all the time too but I've learned that they'll pony up the cheaper options when I push back. So please take the time to learn about your options for any dental care. And understand that this practice may not be offering you the lower cost options that are available. They can argue that this is the only crown they think is "good enough." And you can accept that professional recommendation if you choose. But it needs to be YOUR choice, not based on not knowing that other options may be available to you. You can call your insurer or look at the fee schedules online to know what else is available and what it will cost you out of pocket. Call other practices. Do your homework. And tell your friends - these practices won't change until we as patients educate ourselves and demand the information we need to make educated decisions about our healthcare costs. read more

This place does a great job on your teeth. They know their stuff. The staff is nice and it's super easy to get in. They're open weekends and extended hours during the week. I gave them three stars (which equates to "A-OK" by the way) only because their prices are high, and because it can feel like you're in a car dealership with the hard-sell on extra procedures. They schedule in such a way that they always have time to do that extra ($$$$$) procedure that you might want to have done, RIGHT NOW. I'd love this place if they'd eliminate the high pressure, hard sell on their services. Sometimes a person just wants to have their teeth cleaned and not endure the upselling. It's actually kept me away for longer periods than I should, simply because I dread that part of the experience. But ... in their defense, it seems that all of the upscale Dallas dental offices are that way. There are more than a few of us who long for that old fashioned dentist office that just cares for your dental health and doesn't work so hard to upsell. I also wish that when I ask the cost of something, they'd just tell me and not immediately offer credit like I can't afford the procedure (it's kind of offensive). Just because I asked, doesn't mean I can't afford it -- it just means that I'd like to know. That's all. They're great at squeezing you in, and they back up their work. My hubby had a chip replaced, and a year or so later, it fell out. He went back in and they replaced it without a fuss. I went to get an assessment from Dr. Wood, and he wanted to do three root canals where only fillings and a crown were needed. He also tacked on several other items that he admitted were unnecessary. The quote he gave me was over $12,000. I went to Allen Dental Center (Dr. Wyatt) and he said root canals would not be necessary at all, and quoted me $3,000. Also, the hygienist at McKinney Dentist said my gums were in bad shape and wanted to charge about $1,000 for a cleaning. The hygienist at Allen Dental Center said my gums were healthy and charged less than $100. I was also treated like cattle at McKinney Dentist. No one was rude, but I certainly wasn't a valued customer. But at Allen Dental Center, everyone is genuinely friendly and helpful. Dr. Wyatt stayed and answered all of my questions and even came in on Saturday for me. I guess you can figure out where I chose to get my work done. Totally worth an extra 10 minutes to my drive. Heck, I'd fly to Timbuktu to have Allen Dental Center take care of me rather than the crooks at McKinney Dentist. read more

(And I totally admit that I'm a high maintenance girl). So, instantly I knew my credit card was gonna get a work out :( During my visits there, I was in a lot of pain that they didn't seem to care about. The billing was CRAZY. The dentist seemed more concerned about sharing his partying with celebrities, than me. The ONLY good thing I could say about that dentist is he is a bit of a silver fox. The scene is Friday night at 7:00 and I am eating a frosted donut. Suddenly I bite down on something hard and realize one of my crowns has come off. I called the after hours answering service and told them the problem. In the span of 30 minutes I had calls from Dr. Callison, Dr. Madden, and Dr. Berlin. This is an update to my review. I keep my teeth VERY clean. No periodontal disease. Funny thing happened recently when I got x-rays. Only the partials they put on my teeth (instead of crowns) now have cavities. Also, the crown they did put in fell out. The tooth that they messed up will need an implant. Still saving up for THAT disaster they caused. They MUST be changing their info on Yelp because just now when I updated my review- it said I was "first" to review. Staff was pleasant but was not well informed on pricing. One of the staff members told my boyfriend the wrong price for a certain procedure and we ended up paying money for a check up we didn't need and they later told us the procedure we wanted would be $2000. Didn't disclose the correct pricing and told us there was nothing they could do about the miscommunication on their end.
