Seasonal special of mussels + fries. Both just ok.
    Harley S.

We were generally pleased by our first visit to Neutral Ground, but having been back a couple of times, we concluded this isn't a place we'd expect anybody would want to eat at regularly. The menu is too limited and the food too heavy (and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the dining room too loud -- we kept asking our poor waiter to speak more loudly so we could hear her[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]). In fact, on our 4th visit, we looked at the menu and decided to leave without ordering because none of the dinner main courses that day sounded appealing. If you read these Yelp reviews looking for what to order, know that the menu changes seasonally. i.e., today's THE FISH might not be the same dish as last month's THE FISH. Same with THE PASTA, etc. We've had fish (rockfish), bird (chicken), pasta (rigatoni), a bunch of different sides and several types of salad. The salads are big and shareable, and not as exciting as the lists of ingredients would suggest. The bread basket is lame. The main courses can be interesting but are rich with butter, or even deep fried, and fairly mildly flavored. Fries aren't bad. Mussels aren't bad, when they have them. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The bar is nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Neutral Ground fills a niche in McLean, but unfortunately it's definitely not a destination restaurant.

Really nice spot for brunch. Driven by almost daily and decided to stop in after seeing it on a segment of a PBS show over the weekend, about local eateries. Stopped in for Sunday brunch. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Inside was beautiful, nice colors and very inviting atmosphere.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Menu was pretty sizable for brunch, but some of my party was looking for pancakes or a lunch salad. Beignets were light and covered in powdered sugar. Cornbread with honey butter was tasty. Highlight was my breakfast burger, very substantial with egg, arugula, quality meal. My gang didn't love the French toast but I thought it was nice, especially with the cherries. Fun experience, enjoyed the jazz in the background, too.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute place in McLean which always shocks me how few good spots they have for how much money is here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Food was excellent. Everything we tasted for a party of 6 for brunch. Also very fast. Service was mixed. A little formal and stilted for this kind of place. Refused to make any substitutions. Charged for any change. Wouldn't add onion to one guest's egg dish when onions were on the menu. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Live jazz was nice, but made it a little loud and tough for conversation, especially if you have older guests.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

News FLASH: [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is perfect for a couple or group setting.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Chef truly knows his craft when it comes to cooking authentic New Orleans tasty dishes. Nolan, our server was a wonderful complement to a wonderful meal. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What made our brunch EXTRA special was the live jazz music they play on Sundays!!! They were phenomenal today!! Superb!!! It gave us some good ole New Orleans vibes[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We will return.

Family-style worked out well with my three friends. Two dishes from Seconds, two from Thirds, and one from Don't Think Twice were enough to make us satisfied. Our favorite was the Fish, aka a branzino. The potato puree underneath it was amazing. You just got to watch out for the small bones in the fish. We finished off with the Sea Salt Pavlova for dessert, which was fun to chisel at and was a great combination of flavors. The restaurant was busy around Saturday dinner time. I'm not sure if that slowed down some of our service or the speed of our food coming out. Reservations are recommended! Lovely and bright decor as well.

Bread Service and Pimento Cheese with everything saltines

This restaurant has been only open since June and the food and service is on point like an established place. Great, friendly service from beginning to end. We started with the bread service and pimento cheese. The pimento cheese reminded me of being down south in Savannah, truly delicious. The pork chop was perfect. May have been the best pork chop I have had in many years. My wife enjoyed the crispy chicken and was impressed with the entree and would order it again. The restaurant was packed; however, the server made us feel right at home. If you are looking for great food in a casual atmosphere in McLean this is your place!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Came here on a Friday night and the place is very loud, even with their sound dampeners.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was ok, but this place is expensive. The tuna was really good but everything else was ok.

We were eager to try this place since we're fans of Bayou Bakery, David's other restaurant, but unfortunately, this one didn't quite hit the mark. Like others reviewed, it looks like an Anthropologie store inside. Cute decor and ambiance. A bit too bright IMO. I'd say darken the resto a bit. Tuna Croquetas: The batter was nice, but the filling was too mushy--tuna and potatoes just turned into a bland, unappealing mix. It could use more substance inside and a side dipping sauce to enhance the flavor. Crawfish Pasta: The celery in the sauce was overwhelming and masked the overall flavor. The crawfish chunks were good, but the dish needed more seasoning. I asked for red pepper flakes, but they didn't have any, which was disappointing. Wood Oven Roasted Oysters: Quite enjoyable. The Parmesan butter was a nice touch, and the bread for dipping was delicious. Lemon Icebox Dessert: The flavors complemented each other nicely.

    Cute place with great food.

The food was excellent. The service was good and the proprietor and chef were very friendly. I will be back - alot.

It has become the definitive home base for several of my local groups, and for good reason. The "No Agenda - Just Coffee" Crowd Since October 2025, this has been the quarterly meeting point for a group I help organize (2 entire meetings so far!). We bring together a mix of IT-centric CxOs, startup founders, innovators, govtech, thought leaders, and industry insiders. The beauty of the space is that it handles the "no structure, no rules" vibe perfectly. We show up, grab pastries, and just hang out. It's a low-key break from the grind, and the staff handles the morning rush with impressive efficiency. The Sunday Morning Tactical Post-Game Every Sunday at 6:30am, Northside serves as the rally point for our F3 The Capital workout group. We split up--ruckers head one way, runners another--and we all converge back at the shop by 7:30am. There is nothing quite like hitting the patio after a solid session for coffee, tea, and a high-quality breakfast. The Menu and My Personal "Hack" I've been significantly more health-conscious this year, so I generally keep the order lean. My go-to is a standard drip or an Americano with exactly one pump of vanilla. If you are looking for a meal, the avocado toast and poached egg sandwiches are objectively excellent. However, if you want the best thing on the menu, order the cheddar chive scone and ask them to heat it in the oven. It is a game-changer. The Vibe It has a genuine neighborhood feel. You'll see a broad spectrum of people--from tech folks on laptops to workout groups and families. It even transitions into a great bar scene in the evenings. It's consistent, high-quality, and remains my top recommendation in Falls Church.

The tuna melt is satisfying for pescatarians. For a place branding itself as a cafe and wine bar, the drinks menu leaves a lot to be desired. Seasonal dragonfruit cocktail screams spring but could do with more Reposado.

It was super packed on a town center concert night. Found two seats at the bar and were served right away. Bartender was extremely helpful and recommending a couple glasses of wine, which were spot on, a little pricey, but at least they were good. I had a Riesling and my companion had a Chardonnay. Ordered some type of tuna appetizer and it was awesome. Also ordered the fried zucchini sticks, but they were mediocre. Then we got a shrimp scampi type entrée and shared it, and it was excellent. Overall, the appetizer portions are VERY small. For the main entrees, we got SPICY SAUSAGE PIZZA, BRAISED PORK PAPPARDELLE, CAMPANELLE, CABERNET BURGER, ATLANTIC SALMON, and RAINBOW TROUT. -Spicy Sausage Pizza: it was a spicy sausage pizza with some fancy cheese grated on top. -Braised Pork Pappardelle: The noodles were al dente and there was a tomato based sauce. -Campanelle: the white sauce was a little bland. The noodles were al dente. -Cabernet Burger: the patty was very flavorful and juicy. Would recommend this. It came with fries. -Atlantic Salmon: The salmon was topped with a tomato sauce, personally I would have prefer no tomato sauce as it really overpowers the salmon flavor. Under the salmon was some lettuce. -Rainbow trout: this does not come with a sauce on top like the salmon and so is able to maintain a bit of crisp to the skin. Overall, all the food we had here was mediocre. Nothing stood out. The location and ambiance is great, so it's nice for a get together, not for foodies - not recommended.

Located just off the bustle of King St., Brut sits unassumingly among the Old Town townhomes. You could easily walk past, and not notice it at all. But, if you've dialed in Brut as your destination, be prepared to step in to an oenophile's wet dream. The establishment is both a bottle shop and a wine bar. Every bottle in the joint is carefully curated. There is no junk...no fluff...no quid to subsidize quo...all excellence, from any country or region your heart may desire. Do your Christmas shopping here, for sure. That shopping is going to make you thirsty, so pony up to the small but well appointed bar. Its no easy thing to find a bar with a good "wine by the glass" list, but Brut manages that task with ease. From your sauvignon blancs, through the pinots, to full bodied reds...take a flight of fancy, and walk home well fortified. Since the bar is small, and seats are at a premium, the owner Dustin does a masterful job of weeding out the Riff-raff. Trust me when I say that watching it is far better than TV. I cannot recommend this cool little spot more highly. Maybe I'll see ya there sometime!

It's a little pricey relative to places like Verre wine bar in Courthouse or area Vineyards. I noticed they had the Valravn cab sauv and it was A $20 glass but I have seen it for several dollars less at Verre and elsewhere. However, these were really large pours. So it may be their philosophy to have someone order/pay once and get a lot then having to constantly go back for more. Which is great if you value simplicity but less so if you want variety. I also didn't see flight options, though maybe I missed them. All in all it came out to $83 for 2 glasses of red wine and a cheese plate with 5 cheeses. However they brought bread refills - not sure if it's just that the plate was priced for unlimited bread or if we were being charged for more bread each time and that is what increased the price. Service was a little lax. Again not a bad thing, depends on your preference. When we got their attention they were on it. It resulted in being completely unrushed and unpressured which I appreciate. But my friend was starving and under those conditions we would have liked someone to come take our food order sooner. Vibe is chill. I wouldn't say it's as sexy as others do. When we arrived the lights were fairly bright and then they turned them down and started putting out candles while we were there so that may have been it. That was around 7 or 8 if you are gaming this out for a date. We were the 6pm crowd so maybe they were intentionally going for a less sexy vibe for the benefit of the after work drinks with friends types. I don't recall music. Note also they seem to really focus on imported wines more so than local. I don't thibk there was any local VA wine on the menu. All in all, if you need a wine place in the area then it is totally worth stopping by, especially if you like the specific approach described above. Is it a wine bar I would go out of my way for given that there are a bunch in different neighborhoods around DC? Probably not unless I was specifically looking for this kind of imported wine menu or large pours. This is a no if you are specifically looking for flights or to otherwise try a bunch of different wines.

Rather than ordering through a QR code, place your order at the bar and then you'll get a text alert when the food is ready for pick-up at the long table closest to the bar. The line is always pretty short and you can get a drink within 5-10 min, the food takes longer and even up to 1/2 hour for fries. I would stick to the beer on draft, the cocktails can be hit/miss depending on the bartender, the draft drinks tend to have better consistency. The Wildberry Mule cocktail and Pina Colada Sangria and Peach Seltzer on draft were my picks while the Bourbon Smash, Passionfruit Mojito, Pina Colada Mojito, and the Passionfruit Seltzer were misses. On the flip side, the bartenders poured a generous amount of Prosecco for Mimosas, much appreciated! The bottled Angry Orchard apple cider is generally my go-to. There's always a mocktail on the menu (came in handy when I was pregnant!) The new battered fries are so much better than last year! The menu is limited with simple bar food (bbq pulled pork sandwich, burger, grilled cheese, hot dog, fries, kettle chips). Wish there were more vegetarian options like charcuterie board, hummus and crackers, nachos, mac and cheese, etc. While I give credit for having a Veggie Burger on the menu, it's sad and disappointing. It has a very smoky meaty flavor (from the grill, not the patty) with lackluster toppings - the vegan cheese is disgusting. I would swap out the kettle chips and pay the upcharge for fries. The doughy pretzel sticks are quite salty and a step up from the movie theater. They are good for absorbing the alcohol! Despite these minor complaints, I love coming here with family and fries. So glad The Perch opened up, Starr Hill Biergarten is a great spot to kick back and relax with a beer or 2!

Been coming here for years. Love it. Great spot. Great for kids. Never had an issue, until…read more.. Now twice, the new bouncer with long hair has been a jerk. Questionable hire. Also this guy should not be allowed to talk to children as he clearly has no experience with that. I don't typically leave reviews, but a place we once loved is now tainted.
