I was so disappointed with this place after reading all the great reviews! I went in about six months ago with multiple pairs of shoes that needed some TLC. I was told that my "expensive" shoes couldn't be saved, chided for buying them (I had no idea they would have issues so quickly) and told that they would cost hundred of dollars to fix. As for the other two pairs, he told me "I am very busy--I don't have time." Which is ok--if he can't take new customers, I understand. But he was very rude about it. I actually would have given him the first pair, despite the expense, but he was so curt and gave such confusing explanations that I just left. In the end, I found another cobbler who was able to fix all the shoes with no issues and at a very affordable rates! I will leave a review for them soon. read more

Repair required: Re-sole ladies quality suede loafers. All he did was stick a rubber strip on the bottom of the leather soles which started peeling off almost immediately - for $138! Very expensive for what was done and did not re-sole the heels; poor quality materials and workmanship. Will NEVER use again. read more

I went in on October 25th, 2023 to get a pair of dress shoes shined. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the owner (I assume the man working in there is the owner). I told him I wanted to get these shoes shined and he said it would take about a day since they required two different polishes. I came back on the 26th and when I picked them up, they looked like brand new. I couldn't believe the quality of the shine. For my pair, it was $40. Overall, a fantastic job done and I will be bringing more shoes back in the future to get shined. read more

I bought some shoes which fit too tightly but which I really liked in the hope of having them stretched and was told "save your money, if it does not fit well return it." I took my loafers in to get resoled (hopefully) since there was an actual hole in the sole of the shoe. I wasn't even sure they could be repaired. Anyway, I just got them back and they are literally as good as new, except I don't have to break them in again!! This place is amazing! My husband is very loyal to his shoes. To the point that they disintegrate before he will get a new pair. He has a very good pair of boots that were starting to fall apart - the nails were coming through the heels - and he asked me to get them fixed. I didn't think it was possible, but McLean Shoe Repair made them look good as new! The gentleman also told me they did not need to be completely resoled, just the heel, so he was fair and honest! When I picked the boots up they were shined to perfection and looked like new boots. My husband was thrilled. I will go back to McLean Shoe Repair for any shoe or leather needs for sure. Brought in my flat leather soled Prada sandals to be repaired. The leather soles had separated and needed to be reglued. I've had this kind of work done in other cities including San Francisco and Manhattan. Did not bother to get pricing, expected a bill around $30. Wow. $120! Plus, he added rubber half soles I didn't want and the soles aren't evenly glued back together correctly. There are gaps. read more

WARNING: READ ALL REVIEWS BEFORE VISITING THIS SHOP!! I should have read the reviews first. I want to support local businesses but all the previous one star reviews are more than accurate. I got heels and soles replaced and the shopkeeper convinced me to also have rubber sole covering added. I did not ask the cost as I've had lots of shoe heels replaced before and just assumed his pricing would be in line with others. NO!! He charged about twice what the shoes cost brand new. Even the tins of shoe polish he was selling were far more than next door at the CVS. I should have just left the shoes there. Then, when the the charge came through on my credit card was 6 times the actual charge. I complained to the bank and a retroactive credit was applied to refund the overcharge. Had I not checked my bank statement carefully I would have missed this. It gets worse. Ten months later, the rubber sole cushion I paid extra for is peeling off and I discover that the original soles are still there, never replaced, with the hole and all!! read more

I wish I read the reviews before I went there. Overpriced and shoddy work. My ugg slip ons needed an arch pad and he couldn't get it right. He said he will put the pad under the original pad but he didn't and he patched a bit of pad ON TOP (of the original padding) in the arch area which made it uncomfortable to wear. I returned to have him redo it, it's so bad that it's now way uncomfortable because the pad is partially sticking out from underneath and I can feel every bump of the edges. Dried glue added to the problem. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. For $45, I was expecting flawless workmanship and no such luck here. Customer service is bad too. He kept saying $45 is not a lot. I was willing to pay $45 because I thought he would do a good job. I'm going to file a complaint with BBB. I did not only lose $45, my shoes has become unwearable. read more

Over priced and dishonest! Very disappointed! I took in a pair of cowboy boots to have non slip sole added. The employees persuaded me to get a different sole than the boot company recommended. He told me since I was a first time customer I would get a great deal. He wouldn't tell me the price upfront just that I would get a great deal. It ended up costing $115. Terrible service and shady business practices. I went in and asked for a thin sheet of rupper material to be applied to the bottom of two brand new pairs of Allan Edmond shoes. He rushed me through our conversation and told me he would make them better. The owner has a thick accent that he uses to his advantage. Instead of delivering what I asked for he replaced the entire sole (again, brand new shoes) and put on a custom rubber sole which he claims in imported from France. This was not what I asked for. He charged me $145 per pair of shoes for this service. When I told him this was not what I asked him to do he became very defensive and argumentative. He fancies himself as an Artist I believe. Avoid this shop. They do very sloppy work. I had a pair of Dansko's for which I needed heel taps (usually $10.). This shop insisted that I needed entire rubber heels (3/16 thick; $40). I was in a hurry, so "OK". My shoes came back with shorter heels. They had sanded down the heels about 1/2 - 3/4 inches and added the rubber heel pad! And, one of the heels was crooked, meaning the instep side was shorter than the outer side. So I could be rocking side to side with each step. Lastly, one heel was 1/4" shorter than the other. I took them back, got a "oh yeah yeah yeah... we'll have it all fixed up......" very curt and dismissive. After this servicing, my shoes/heels were now both 3/4" shorter and the one was still crooked. I basically had to throw out the shoes. That's $40. down the drain, a good pair of shoes ruined and an additional $110 for a new pair of shoes. Please find another shop!! read more

This place is a joke. I asked for an estimate to have a Frye boot resoled with leather. The guy asked me how much I paid for them. They were originally around $300 and a few years old. To have ONE shoe resoled with leather would be $200, with rubber would be $125. I was pretty skeptical so I called the Frye Company in Georgetown and asked them how much it would be to resole one boot with leather-$40 for rubber and $50 for leather. The short of it, this place is a scam that caters to the rich people in McLean. read more
