I had bookmarked this place for a while after I saw that they had a fresh cream cake with black sesame. They offered other cakes with some unique flavor combinations as well. I filled out the form on their website a couple of weeks before my husband birthday, and noticed that their prices had increased recently. The regular 6" black sesame blueberry hojicha cost $55. Megan responded in email within 2 days as expected. Her payment instructions were very clear, and we agreed to meet at their designated community park at 10am on Sunday. (They would also do delivery with an additional cost.) An hour before our meeting time, she sent a text with the make/model/color of their car, as well as, some dessert care instructions. They arrived on time. The cake was carefully packaged and included a "Happy Birthday" paper topper. The cake was really good. It was fresh and airy; the black sesame taste really stood out; the blueberry jam was delicious and not too sweet; the hojicha fresh cream was light and flavorful. We had a 5 star experience last year for our pups birthday, the packaging and flavors were absolutely spot on. Along with the key reason we ordered-- having a customizable topper. Now, more recently my second not so much. I know I asked for an earlier pickup but would have just appreciated the communication earlier about the topper. Her printer broke down and was unable to print the image on the cupcake-- which was a big part of the celebration for our friend. That's understandable but she did not ask any follow-up questions on the text printing for a topper or give an option for design, to say the least it is disappointing. I wish there was a better font and design choice for the topper esp with the last minute change. Some of the font is covered. She did refund the cost which was appreciated, but I'd rather pay more to have the right topper request or some other options. I decided to reach out for a quote for a customized frosting strawberry shortcake buttercream cake and their ube ube vegan and gluten free cupcakes. My understanding is that they rent and work out of an industrial kitchen, hence the need to meet at another location. And, of the times we've gone, there were a number of other people waiting for pickup as well. Payment wise, they accept Venmo, cash, and credit card (card requires an additional 3% fee), and you can pay them upon pickup or ahead of time. Check out their seasonal specials and promos, they get changed up. MCourse has their custom cakes and usual cream puffs (my favorite being their vanilla custard), but I've found their specials to be super interesting. A while back, we got their strawberry and mango milk jam mochifins (mochi muffins) special. These things were both cute and delicious. They don't have it anymore, but I did manage to get their Halloween special, Ghost Town, which was a matcha cake with orange frosting. The "ordering two weeks ahead of time" is for their custom cakes, not for the specials and promos. They also do gluten-free and vegan cakes, so I'm keeping them in mind for friends with dietary restrictions and allergies now. And while more bakeries are doing more tea-flavored stuff now, I appreciate MCourse's selection of tea-flavors. Not only do they have Thai Tea, but when they do a matcha cake it's distinctively an actual MATCHA cake. They've definitely mixed actual matcha tea or powder into the Ghost Town cake we got. Boy are y'all in for a moderately sweet treat! I first found out about MCourse through Instagram and just had to try them out for myself! Cream puffs and "mochifin" mochi muffins? I'm so there! The twin baking duo, Megan and Mindy, don't have an actual storefront but they'll coordinate a spot for pick up in Santa Clara or you can ask about local delivery for a fee. I didn't realize how perfect the puffs were until I took the first bite of vanilla. I honestly thought matcha would be favorite, and rightfully so I tried it first. It was more matcha flavor than sweet. Also, I had the puffs frozen, didn't get a chance to try them oozing with cream at fridge temp. Next time! That vanilla though. OMG! Lightly sweetened custard with such a fragile tasty crusted puff. Their promise of the puff staying crispy for two days holds true. I absolutely loved the puff itself, there's something in the crust or maybe the powdered sugar just gives it the added oomph. I'm not a big fan of ube (I grew up around it) but the flavor and vibrant purple are spot on. I gave the second ube puff to one of my work besties and she was delighted! The ladies added in two bonus macarons! Thank you so much for that. I think it was cookies & cream? Or possibly black sesame but either way, chewy texture was great and the buttercream silky! Not only are they baking cream puffs and mochifins, they've also got exquisite cakes, cupcakes (I've gotta try guava one day), macarons, who knows what else? Inquire and you shall receive. Note: minimum of 4 per order of the puffs and mochifins, they encourage mixing and matching of flavors. Megan and Mindy's cupcakes are out of this world! I was super excited to be able to score a 12 pack of their variety cupcakes after drooling over their IG pictures for the past 2 months. Megan handled my DM transaction efficiently, and pickup was easy in Santa Clara. I had an opportunity to gift some friends the cupcakes as belated birthday cupcakes, and they declared them the best cupcakes they have ever had. I kept the following flavors: guava, passionfruit mango, black sesame, dark chocolate caramel, and lavender lemon (listed in taste preference). The cake is fluffy and moist with the cream/frosting being the perfect sweetness and texture after leaving out from fridge the recommended 40 minutes. The lavender lemon was probably my least favorite as I don't enjoy floral flavored desserts, but the lemon curd filling inside was super yum. I ordered a dozen of passion fruit mango mini cupcakes and a dozen of assorted cream puffs for my Valentine's Day lunch with my husband and family. The mini cupcakes and cream puffs were all fluffy, moist yet not overwhelmingly sweet to my tastebuds. My family like the flavors and presentation of these cute desserts after our lunch on Sunday! I made a dessert bowl with fresh berries, cherries, few small scoops of jasmine tea and pistachio ice cream, and a MCourse strawberry cream puff for my evening dessert with my husband on Valentine's Day, which we really enjoyed it together. Megan was responsive to my email messages in a timely manner, and I'm looking forward to ordering more sweets from MCourse in a near future.
