This had more stronger almond and Italian rum flavor and I was pleasantly surprised by the sugared almond slivers coating. The custard was absolutely generous, creamy, and divine. I'd say Peter's Bakery is more traditional, but more fluffier while Sugar Butter Flour has a more modern twist and is slightly sweeter. Their version definitely has more custard, which I personally enjoy... but this may be too sweet for the older Asian parents family. I'd love to come back to try their cookies and other pastries next time. Their Burnt Almond Cake is to die for and would love to buy another one when I'm in the area. We called in and the worker confirmed there are supposed to be two layers of custard in the Burnt Almond and advised me to email the owner so they could make it right. Look at the next photo. How do you as an owner - instead of simply admitting this was a rushed, dry, and unleveled cake - tell me in one message that the recipe changed because other customers had been complaining about too much custard but that you would be returning back to the original recipe? What am I, 5 years old? Just own up and say someone messed up and you'll keep the quality of your products up - but I guess that's hard to do when you ignore your long timecustomers and already got $70 for a cake that's 95% bread. I mentioned to the owner that their worker stated there would be some closure/resolve to which the owner just stopped responding. We got the sesame dark chocolate crepe cake. When you eat in the store, the owner provides you with free cups of tea, which are really great for washing down the cake. The chocolate was super rich, and they did not skimp out on the flavor - super chocolatey. The sesame added such a fun earthy and nutty flavor - I thoroughly enjoyed it! The cake is on the slightly denser side, so was super filling. While on the pricier side, the flavors are super unique and the craft that goes into crepe cakes is commendable. I will say that walking in the space is elegant is the word I would like to use but also inviting with the little extras that they do at the table with the fresh flowers the soft chairs the colorful decor that surrounds it. Also the two individuals behind the counter that were taking orders and packaging things were just a delight. Both of them greeted us with a smile and they asked us if it was our first time to the shop and we told them yes and so they walked us through some of the more popular items and how are things were broken down and that was very much appreciated cuz there are many many options in front of you in unless you know exactly what you want you can be looking at everything for a couple of minutes before you decide on even one thing. We ended up getting a regular latte and a rose latte for our drinks. And then as a little delicious taste of something we got the chocolate croissant and the almond croissant. I am going to comment on my rose latte first that thing was beautifully made because though it was sweet but in a way that wasn't overpowering because you could still taste a little bit of the caffeine the creaminess of the milk that was used and the espresso it was like a hint in the background so a little call out there if you're someone that really wants to taste their coffee this wasn't the jam for you and that's okay my husband got the regular latte with steamed milk and I tasted his and that was like coffee in your face so you can always go for a solid twist like that. And to clarify his latte was also very good because it just tasted so fresh and of high quality. Now for the pastries. It wasn't overly sweet and paired perfectly with the cream cheese inside. I wish that I was able to get a 2nd piece, my husband didn't even get a piece since everyone ate theirs so quickly!
