They were awesome! I live with 3 other girls in your standard SF apartment (old, a little run down, tends to get dusty, etc) and they made the place look better than when we moved in! We had had a few people over a couple nights previous which wasn't that bad, but they went above and beyond. They deep cleaned our entire kitchen including floor, fridge, oven, microwave, etc. There wasn't a single piece of dust left, the windows were sparkling, and our bathrooms I swear looked brand new, especially the shower. During the time I hired M&J Cleaning I had multiple problems. First of all, I had to explain to them that they shouldn't use abrasive cleaners on chrome, but that didn't stop them. After they cleaned each week, I had to go around and touch up paint on the corners of the stairways because they dragged the vacuum hose and made dark marks. Toilets weren't cleaned completely. I mentioned it several times and it continued. Several items broken or missing after cleaning (and they didn't say anything about it). Hardwood floors were left sticky. And every single picture was left crooked (they did dust them) so I had to do a lot of straightening up after their services. The icing on the cake is that when I let them go and asked them to return my key...nothing. read more

I just had "Mause", the owner of M & J House Cleaning Service over today to clean my house and he did a really wonderful job. It was easy to set up an appointment (only took one call), and he came right on time. He stayed longer than my 3 hour time frame that I had through the living social deal and made sure I was completely satisfied before he left. I highly recommend this service!!! My house has never been this clean. He scrubbed the kitchen, and bathrooms, dusted the entire house (and I have a lot of knick knacks and photos to deal with), vacuumed all the rooms and then coated the hardwood floors. He is courteous, diligent and very efficient. I'm very pleased with the results. I will definitely use this service again. read more

I got the Living Social $75 deal to try out a cleaning service because my old cleaner retired last year. I had no problems scheduling them, they were prompt and stayed 10 minutes later to finish up before rushing to their next appointment. Mause and Sylvia were courteous and professional, and they did a good job of cleaning our kitchen and living area and half bath. Mause gave me a quote to clean for us on a regular basis. read more

I've tried several housecleaners using a Living Social or Groupon discount and was never satisfied enough with the service to continue using them. Too many times I ended up re-cleaning areas of the house myself. I was so completely satisfied with the thoroughness of M&J that I've committed to a house cleaning every two weeks. They have been here about 5 times now and I've never been disappointed. I'm so surprised at the bad ratings because my experience with Mause and his crew has been the complete opposite. They've done way more than what I expected. read more

I wish I didn't have to write this review, andI do so only after trying very hard to resolve my complaint directly with the merchant. Unfortunately, I was basically told by the owner to fly a kite ... and that was only after catching him on the phone, after having left at least three messages and not hearing back. Here's my problem: I bought a Trubates voucher for "two hours of house cleaning from three professional cleaners." I'm no whiz, but that adds up to two hours x three people = six hours of cleaning. That's what I bought and paid for. However, they only sent two people for two hours, which equals four hours, not six. I bought the voucher as a gift for someone that has a studio apartment (that's small!), and they did not clean the fridge, oven, blinds, or cabinets, at least some of which they could have done if they had provided the hours of service I paid for. I think this is wrong, possibly false or fraudulent. When I tried to resolve it with the owner, he basically got mad and told me he wasn't going to do anything about it. Then I tried to resolve it with Trubates, and they told me it was the merchant's issue, not mine. All you can do when you pay for one thing and get another is not do business with that merchant any more, and tell everyone you can that you cannot trust them to do what they promise. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to add Trubates into this mix, because I feel like they could have at least tried to resolve the problem (even though they apparently have an agreement with their merchants that says that customers have to resolve disputes with the merchants). read more

What a terrible customer service. I have purchase a $75 Living Social deal for 3 hours of Cleaning. I have tried calling the guy to schedule an appointment to do the cleaning. First attempts I have made(about 5 x calling the #) were unsucessfull as the voice mail box was full and that continued to be for about a week. The next week I was finally able to speak with a gentelman who finally picked up a phone. I have scheduled an appointment time and they never showed up. I tried calling and never was able to get a hold of the company. I got a call back back towards the end of third week of my expirenece with company with lot's of appologies and a family issues excuse, which by the way I totally bought and accepted. We scheduled another appointment on Saturday for them to come clean the house, I waited for 3 hours after the scheduled time. I tried calling, leaving messages, no one bothered to call me or show up. Thankfully, I got a refung from Living Social, but I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE. STAY AWAY from M&J House Cleaners they are Very incompetent, terrible customer service, unable to reach the company and finally they don't bother showing up to scheduled appointments.If I could remove even the 1 star, I would definatelly put 0 stars with a total negative expirence. read more

Called Mause in late April 2015 and inquired if my sister and I could each purchase a voucher and give the vouchers to our mother as Mother's Day gifts. I explained to Mause that my mother fell and broke her knee and incapable to do many house works. It would be a great gifts from daughters to mother. He said that would be fine. We, each purchased one. I used the one that I purchased on Memorial Day, as M&J doesn't work on the weekend. On 5/25/2015, I waited at my mother's apartment because my mother doesn't speak/understand English, so I was so ready to help her translate. Mause and his staff came, but he had to go back to his car as the neighborhood around where my mom lives was a little rough. Before he left my mother's apartment, he helped us to translate to his staff that we wanted the 1 and a half bathrooms clean and the kitchen. His staff was a beautiful young lady who could only speak Spanish. After he left the house, our communication was just body language. She started with the half bathroom first, then the full bathroom and the open counter kitchen (which connected to the living room). Spiderweb was still hanging down at the top corner of the ceiling and the wall still have stains. She spent the majority time in the full bathroom, which is like the size of a cubicle. I gave up in looking in that bathroom after she was done. My mother had asked if she could wipe the outside of the cabinets as they are high up. My mother cannot climb up and down. I tried to communicate with her by using body language and provided her a chair to stay up. I think she smile and said "See, See...". As we were siting in the living room, I swear, I don't remember seeing her cleaning the cabinets. Beside a little refreshment smell, I didn't see any improvement in the apartment. My sister came back from vacation and wanted to use her voucher today, but she couldn't because Mause didn't remember what he said before. That is fine. She can use the service, just not for our mother. However, M&J doesn't have any availability until 2 months from today. If you purchased this voucher, just make sure you call in advance and give up one of your weekday. read more
