Having stayed in the Waimea Town area in the past, I didn't expect much. But I was so happy to find this place in Hanapepe. Had the lentil-based meatloaf the other night and absolutely loved it. Brought a friend there tonight for it, and they were out. But instead, had the "trio"... we thought it was vegan...it is not. (It's "vegetarian"). But they do also have a vegan burger. My wife ordered the fish and chips and it was just plain bad. The fish wasn't fried like what you think fish and chips should be. It was almost like a corn dog with fish inside. Friday, 10/24 was the first time our family tried this restaurant even though we live only 5 minutes away. We will definitely return. I ordered the mahimahi with capers and was quite happy with it. Our party also ordered the kauai shrimp scampi with pasta...this was awesome and we would all order it again. Good taste, cheesy, lots of mushrooms, and 2 garlic bread perfect for soaking up the tasty sauce. I actually wanted to ask for an extra garlic bread for that very reason but decided not to. I also tried the POG spritzer and I liked it but not for the price. And for dessert we ordered the peach cobbler with icecream. That was also very tasty. We'll be back. read more

Definitely not just for vegetarians! I had the chili pepper fried chicken, and it is amazing! I could probably just sit here and eat pounds of that! I also had the Mac salad and brown rice. The mac salad wasn't anything spectacular, pretty similar to any other that you get in the islands. The brown rice was a little over cooked, but still decent. Wow, we had a fantastic experience here at the MCS Grill. Super friendly staff, and the food was outstanding too! We will definitely be back next trip to Kauai. We ate the nachos and the chicken & steak combo. We were stuffed but we did take a piece of the passion fruit cheesecake with us! My fiance and I were in Kauai for a week and this was by far the best food we had on the island! The staff was so nice and helpful, especially giving my fiance recommendations as she is a vegetarian. She had the Vegetarian Meatloaf and I had the Hawaiian chili pepper chicken, we were both blown away by the taste and quality. We actually tried to go back another night while we were on the island (I fully intended to order the exact same dish, that's how delicious it was) but they were closed for the Friday after Thanksgiving. Always have the best customer service and fast servers! I love the mcs combo and the Kalua nachos. it's a must have if you are a first timer. Great for the family:) call in ahead of time if you are doing take-outs. It may take awhile since some nights are really busy with parties and catering. My friends loved their omelet and my husband said his (Sunday only) fried rice was the best he has had.
