Dr. Oliak has worked with me on my weight for years - first with surgery and now with GLP-1's. He, along with Allison, have supported me with their knowledge and kindness as I work on my weight loss. The office staff is professional and totally on top of things. I can not speak well enough of all of these people. Without them - I wonder if I could have lost my extra weight. I have been seeing Dr Oliak and Allie since my lapband in 2011 and sleeve conversion in 2020. I love the care that I receive from everyone in the office. I had a slight reagin and was 10 pounds over my desired weight. I was approaching the top number of my goal and was happy to see that they are now offering the glp's. I lost 15 pounds total and holding steady. I am forever grateful for the help I have received from them. I am living a completely different life than I would be had I never taken the chance with my surgeries and meds. I am truly grateful for the work that they do. read more

I have been a patient of MD Total Wellness of Brea for approximately 3 months. Previously had a gastric lap band but after some difficulties had to have it removed. I gradually put a significant amount of weight back on and was looking for alternative help with weight loss. I chose the Tirzepitide and am extremely pleased with my results. I'm amazed at how quickly and completely my cravings have gone away. i am full much quicker on smaller amounts of food. I was skeptical at first....but everything they told me about the med is true. Accurate rating description for two starts is "could've been better." This place only has PA/NP…read moreand no MD on site. They have the capability to draw blood and send to lab for stat orders. Unfortunately, what they lack ends up a longer list. The first MA was unable to get a vial of blood and said someone else would try on my other arm with a straight needed (vs butterfly). She left me without even putting a bandaid on the arm she poked and I had to struggle to put the bandaid on one handed while still maintaining pressure on it. Next MA comes and draws blood and when she's done she yelps I don't have a cotton ball (to put on the vein she just drew out of) and my blood is just pooling while she puts a bandaid on. Luckily I'm well versed enough to know I needed to put pressure on my bandaid. The NP who saw me was new to (per the MA) she really didn't put my mind at ease. Her expertise and knowledge seemed lacking based on the answers to my questions. First thing she asked me was, why are you here and not the ER? I told her my PCP sent me here because she didn't feel it necessitated a ER visit. She wanted me to be evaluated by YOU to assess and in your medical opinion, do I need to be seen further or what course of action next? She swabbed me for flu and covid and I verbally questioned her because I had isolated severe GI symptoms. She said sometimes those present wither GI only. Does it? I don't know, I'm not an MD but I'm also someone who works in healthcare and it didn't feel like the proper procedure. When I asked if she would be ordering any stool samples, I heard through my closed door "do we do that?". Ok, she's new, I'll give her that...but she comes back in and says "if you'd like to have the order for stool testing I'm happy to give that to you." Am I the md or am I the patient? I came here for your professional medical opinion! Do I?! So after I kindly communicated that I am looking to her for her opinion as the expert whether or not my symptoms necessitate an order, she still doesn't quite give me a direct answer! I haven't been to that many urgent cares, but I've come to see a trend that many of the urgent cares that are owned by a company with multiple locations don't have MD's on staff physically there. That said, I've also noticed the trend that many provide sub-par care.

And I had to go to another doctor for an incredibly painful procedure, all for nothing. I did not have HPV. 4. In my opinion Kurtz now has a God complex, he didn't used to. ***5. THEY REFUSED TO TREAT ME, AFTER I LEFT MY URINE SAMPLE....UNLESS I PAID WHAT FEELS LIKE A $50 EXTORTION FEE, in order to give me my prescription. When the doctor says they don't hold back care because of an unpaid balance, that is entirely incorrect, and I believe he's lying. His behavior is reprehensible, and he is fully aware of this. Don't say you weren't warned. ....*add the fact that he stands by his uneducated and extremely unprofessional staff, says even more. Do better Dr Kurtz. We ended up going to Dr Annette Bernhut in Orange and she is AWESOME. She cares about you as a person, vs you being the enemy

Now I get 15 minutes plus waiting each time and incoherent assistants. Last time I left a message for the doctor, I had to repeat a simple question 3 times because they didn't understand it the first two times. Of course never heard back from them. I don't know if they even relayed the message. The doctor is still great so it's a shame but time for a new one.
