Besides my weekly supermarket runs for the usual fridge and pantry basics elsewhere, Mother Earth,…read moreat the Kings Mall in Kingston, NY goes beyond the usual organic veg. I know I could easily run to Vitamin Shoppe for my fish oil, rosehip oil, sea moss or natural hair and beauty products- but honestly, I'd rather keep supporting Mother Earth . Every so often when I'm catching up with other shops in Kings Mall, I come here to stock up on a few things. While prices are on the high side, the selections make it worth it. When I stopped by recently, I got one of their smoothies, which was super delicious. They also have nice fresh-pressed juice, pastries and hot meal menus. Bigger applause for catering to Vegans and Vegetarians as well. Mother Earth feels like a one-stop shop. The shelves are filled with everything from supplements and herbs to skincare and unique natural products I won't find in any store- not even Vitamin Shoppe. The environment is warm, earthy and inviting- and can tell they care about what they offer.

The variety and quality of their stock is good, and the store is spacious and appealing. For example, a quart of Fage Best Self Lactose Free yogurt can be purchased at Price Chopper for $7.99. At Mother Earth, it is sold for $14.49. A pint of organic blueberries sold today for almost $10 as opposed to under $6 at Adams, and the ones at Adams are larger and plumper. I expect higher prices at a market specializing in organic foods, but the disparity makes this store out of reach except for a few of the hardest to find products.

Very pleased to finally have a chance to check this place out…read more This attractive shop features a nice selection of honeys, unusual preserves, and gift items (including books on local history, beautiful handmade wooden-ware, and smoked salmon in handsome cedar boxes from the Pacific Northwest). We enjoyed the smoked cod we purchased, and are eager to check out some of the many caviar options (including various imported caviar and American Sturgeon caviar, among others) next time we are able to stop by. A real highlight for me was the store's extensive collection of sturgeon-related ephemera and photos. The family that runs this shop has a long history in the sturgeon business and has collected many objects and pics that will appeal to those with an interest in the history of the Hudson Valley, fishing lore, and archaic imagery. Sturgeon are magnificent, prehistoric-looking creatures, and I thoroughly enjoyed perusing this "mini-museum" on the topic of sturgeon fishing. The service was pleasant, helpful, and non-intrusive. I highly recommend stopping by the next time you're in the neighborhood.

I'm a sales rep that works with very small scale food producers. When I visited Hansen's last year,…read moreI was excited that Hansen's placed large orders with all of the companies that I work with. However I was disappointed when I found out that Hansen's never paid any of them. Not one cent to 6 different companies. I dedicate my time to working my micro-scale and start-up food companies. Working with Hansen's is not a good idea. One star is too many.

They also have some picture books to borrow (For the kids) while you wait. And this was a life-saver. We got a Reuben was was pretty good quality. Very thick meat, the saurkraut was great and so was the cheese. But it was so salty, I could only eat half of it. The same goes for the BLT with turkey. The turkey was nicely sliced and the ingredients were all fresh, but it was so salty, I could barely eat it. The bacon very thick, so they put the slices on the side. I like the concept, but too salty for me.

Rosie's is such a special spot and we can't wait to come back to try more items. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients, and everything feels thoughtfully made. The ambiance is warm and cozy, the kind of place you want to linger in. I also love that it's part cafe, part market, so you can grab incredible food and also pick up market goods like fresh bread and local items. It feels like a neighborhood hub and a destination all in one. An absolute must if you're in Kingston.
