I just WASTED 3 hours going back and forth, being transferred and speaking to FOUR different people with this company. My INITIAL question was if they have a three hour minimum, to which i was told a clear "no". This was for a basic move, one storage unit, into an empty apartment THREE MILES away. I was quoted almost SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS. I would highly recommend going with a more direct, local, moving company that has experienced movers. This facade of a moving company just gives you the ring around. They only got two stars because at lease all of the "service representatives" which, warning: are different than the people who can actually check availability, give you a quote, or schedule anything other than a run around game of phone tag- were actually very polite. read more

The team from Meathead Movers were the best. The movers were all cheery and capable. Each part of the moving process was reviewed with me prior to implementation. They were able to pack our boxes into the truck and then subsequently unload them at our new house in an efficient and timely manner. We appreciated their dedication to moving our items and being such generous and kind people as well. We had tried to speak with several moving companies to help in transitioning our current household to the new home, and Meathead Movers was the only company who returned our call. When it comes to moving my heart usually sinks. The few times I've ever used moving companies I have had the frustrating experiences of the movers showing up hours late, disappearing for hours "because of traffic" and moving slowly that you literally can feel your wallet getting smaller. None of these were my recent experience with Meathead Movers. From start to finish, they were organized, professional and easy to communicate with. I really liked having the opportunity to fill out an online inventory to generate an accurate estimate of movers and time so that my husband and I felt secure in knowing up front how much everything would cost. The team on the phone calls was very helpful and friendly- providing great detail in what every step of the move would look like. On moving day, my husband and I could not believe how quickly the guys MOVED! Our movers were Deonte H., Deon F., Alexis V., & Eduardo H. They were professional, polite (even would ask permission to use our facilities) and worked really hard. They discovered upon arrival that their truck would not be able to fit in the long driveway to our apartment due to a dead tree. This could have been an easy opportunity to squeeze hundreds of additional dollars out of us due to the extra time this may require. However, they continued to hustle and still had our entire place packed up in the original estimation- very impressive! Their unpacking of our items in the new home was equally impressive- these guys truly hustled and their hard work ended up saving us hundreds of dollars as we did not even reach our ceiling cost despite a two-hour commute to the new home. Deonte was very helpful in explaining everything throughout the day and was organized with all signatures and paperwork required. I have told several friends and family members about our moving experience- I KNOW I will use them in the future should we ever have to relocate- truly the best around! read more

Just wasted at least 30 minutes of my time trying to get a quote from these con artists to move 44 metal filing cabinets from Pomona to Hesperia (I've previously been quoted less than $500). About half of these are actually trash & going to a recycling center right here in Pomona. Absolute worst moving company, I cannot stress enough, do NOT use them. Total disregard for our property, I watched the crew who moved us roll my FULL dresser end over end through my master bedroom. They dropped and disposed of many of my childhood ornaments, broke family heirloom crystal, dented our refrigerator door among many other damages. Total and complete disregard for our hard earned possessions, time and money. Don't bother paying for the added "insurance" they make sure they have so much fine print that there's no way you can hold them responsible for anything. Total crooks. I attempted to file a claim and after being strung along for weeks, having me provide photographs, website links and backup I followed up on the status only to hear it was taking so long due to the holidays. Within 3 days of my follow up after weeks of waiting I received two letters in the mail both dated the same exact date! One stating they were diligently looking into my claim and would even possibly send someone out to meet with me and the second in a separate envelope stating there was nothing they could do and my claim was denied, highlighting the fine print on the very original contract that they are basically not responsible for any damage and a form my husband initialed (mind you the contract was only in my name and I did not give them permission to have anyone else sign on my behalf) that all of the furniture was not wrapped in blankets, hence making them not responsible for the damage to the refrigerator. The funny thing is they were moving us out of a storage unit they had moved us into in which we paid them for furniture blankets! So basically they are just collecting money by charging people for their "insurance" you can't collect on. They are so skilled at making sure you sign every possible piece of paper so that they can never be held responsible. Needless to say moving during the holidays and finding box after box of damages was heartbreaking. Almost 2k in damages and some items we can never replace nor give a monetary value to as they were so sentimental and the company completely disregards you, and slaps you in the face with their investigation. The "claim" person Allison just stopped responding. I promise you save your family the grief and the heartache and hire an honest company it will save you headaches later. I wish I would have listened to the Yelp reviews when I hired them. Be cautious in who you trust your possessions with it was quite the learning experience. I hope this post helped at least one other family make the right decision and refrain from hiring this horrible company. I will add that this move also cost $1600...and no apology was provided by the company for the poor treatment of our possessions, they apologized for not accepting the claim (slap in the face) but not once did we receive an apology for our mistreatment. read more

We moved my mother in law from an apartment 1 mile away into our home. We hired Meathead to pack her up and to Move her in. I recommend Meathead Movers at the highest possible level. The person who took my initial call was pleasant, informed and helpful. Made it incredible easy to place the order. I needed to make some changes before move date and it was easy to do so and welcomed by the staff. Regular emails and texts kept me informed. Yes, yelpers...these guys truly are as good as it gets. Meathead Movers are a little pricey, but trust me they're worth every penny! Carlos and Daryl (OC branch) showed up promptly at 9am for our scheduled appointment and were eager to get moving! They were also very professional and did an excellent job highlighting details of accrued charges. All in all, the guys were friendly and went out of their way to ensure my furniture was quickly moved, and protected from damage in transit. They also accommodated my request to deliver furniture to a 2nd destination. Yes, you're charged double time for those transactions, but the guys are fast and it alleviates stress on your part. Where do I begin... I moved from a five bedroom house into a small 2-bedroom house. I picked and chose wisely what I wanted to keep and move into the smaller home. I had a four-man crew for an entire day and I cannot rave enough about there customer service. The care that they put into everything they touched, what's phenomenal! I have a marble top dining room table in which is cracked from side to side and did not expect it to make the move. I asked them to move it and in my mind I was fully prepared for it NOT TO MAKE IT! To my COMPLETE AMAZEMENT they made it work and it is in my new temporary home! My Cal King bed with two armoires and island connecting it to my headboard was treated with absolute care as if I moved it and touched it myself it was incredible! I have two cats then I had locked up in one room. My four men crew cared as much about them as I did as far as not letting them free with all of the doors open! Anything and everything that they touched: China, bedding, multiple one-of-a-kind table Italian wood pieces what's taken care of as if it were glass exactly how I would have done it if I were a man. I was overall very satisfied. They were professional, polite, and eager to answer my questions and reassure. I chose this company over several others because they were able to move furniture with draws and its contents in place. This saved us time with extra packing and made the move easier. Also, other companies had no maximum charge, even if they priced lower. So after 3 or 4 hours the price could be astronomical as it increases per 15 minutes unending. With this compainy, even after the time expires and rates go up per 15 min, there is a cap, which makes a difference. Even better, the movers were efficient and moved us in 1 less hour, which saved us about $1000 in this move! We were very impressed. They deserved their tip. I can recommend them to anyone again. I'm not sure what all the buzz is about this company. After requesting a quote, I was directed to an electronic inventory list where I spent 10-15 minutes filling out every piece of furniture I had in order for Meathead Movers to give me "a quote tailored and specific to my needs." After completing the inventory, I was then contacted by a member of their team which I must admit was very good about following up. They explained that they needed to chat for about 15 minutes to discuss the details of my move and then they could provide me with "a quote tailored and specific to my needs." Finally, after completing all the requested information from Meathead Movers, they gave me a quote that was double the cost of 3 other companies doing the same exact services. And if I wanted a guaranteed price, they doubled the original quote. Trust me, I get at least 3 quotes for everything I do and their pricing was outrageously out of perspective. They go on to talk about the quality of their services being superior, but let's be real... they hire "student athletes." And that makes me want to pay double the cost? No meathead here. read more

Okay, we moved from Hermosa to Redondo (roughly 1.4 miles) just over 2 years ago with Meathead. They had a Yelp deal, and the prices were great. We Did a 2-bedroom (and a decent amount of furniture) move for around $500, and tipped our two great movers. Flash forward to June 2016 we went right back to Meathead and after a little price checking I signed up for another Meathead move. This time we moved 20 houses up the street. Literally less than 0.1 mile. I expected a quick(er) move, and around $500 before tip again. Sadly it came to $770 before tipping and feeding our Meatheads. I am still dumbfounded as to why. - We had pretty much the same furniture, and added a washer/dryer. - I moved all the clothes, crates, kitchen, and electronics myself over 5 nights of work. - My "low-end" quote was $537 which was a comfortable range for the move. - The move took 3.75 hours (roughly) and I helped the two movers too. The company is great. They communicate so well. The office staff and managers are very nice people so it is very hard to feel disappointed. Also, the movers work very hard and they are such nice people. I cannot say enough things about both sets of movers we've had from Meathead. They're good kids, that are working through school and have dreams of become successful adults. They're so polite, they're respectful, they take the customers needs seriously and they're prompt. On top of that, they hustle the whole time...for the second move we had Josh and Manuel and they were very, very good guys...just a pleasure to spend 4 hours working with them and chatting about life, etc. I also need to give positive marks to Torrey (the company Manager) and Kaitlin the office manager. They both communicate so well, they are so polite on the phone and I can't explain how pleasant they make the experience. So my only missed expectation was cost. I do math for a living and somehow my calculations from the quote and the final bill just didn't add up...but I paid it. That's how 5 stars goes to 4 stars...I guess over the course of 26 months prices went up, and I misjudged the initial quote. I'll take the hit on this one, mainly because these guys are the NICEST people through and through. I mean I actually feel bad giving 4 stars. I feel awful inside. I feel like I am a little disappointed in friends and it's my own fault. Alright, I gotta say these guys killed it. Hands down. We moved from LA to Irvine and planned on doing it ourselves, but quickly realized it was going to be tough to lug 2 bedrooms worth of stuff up to the new 3rd floor apt with out an elevator. Luckily Kei and Cade came to the rescue. We loaded up our own rental truck in LA and it took my brother and I over 5 hours to load it and we were on the ground level. After driving down to Irvine, Kei and Cade showed up for an agreed upon 2 hours. They unloaded my entire truck and lugged it all up 3 flights of stairs in less than an hour and a half. They Straight up RAN up and down those stairs, unless they we're holding something fragile, then they ran slightly more carefully! I was blown away. Kei and Cade were personable and super friendly. I didn't feel intimidated for a moment and they kept offering great idea after great idea. They even put together a shelf in the garage because we had a half hour left! I will never move again without meathead movers. MY ONLY NOTE FOR MEATHEAD MOVERS HQ - When it came to pay the guys had to do paper receipts and call in credit card authorizations and scrape card numbers....come on guys this is 2014! Get these guys the wireless credit card reader they deserve. Even an iphone square app! Kei and Cade killed it on my move, but you guys gotta firm up the back end and support these guys with some technology! We found Meathead Movers on Yelp based on all the reviews. Called for a quote and they came out to look at our place and gave a "not to exceed" estimate. We've moved FIVE times since 2011 and had very different experiences with our movers. These guys were awesome! They did everything. We moved the day before Thanksgiving out of our place on Balboa Island in a rental that had a spiral staircase, 3 floors and a garage. Our Meathead Mover team leader was Brandon plus 3 really hardworking guys. All we did was tell them what to take and they did everything else. They put down floor protectors so the hardwoods wouldn't get damaged. They wrapped the mattresses, box springs, all the furniture, TVs, et al., in blankets and taped them up before they moved them down the NARROW stairs. They were creative in moving things -- such as disassembling a table to get it out of our place and into the truck, then they reassembled it in our new place; they also carefully removed light bulbs and told us "these are fragile and we prefer to remove them before we move a lamp." Plus, we forgot to remove the bulbs, so that was helpful. They really made the move headache-free and didn't slow down. They told us how long they expected to take, when they would take a break for lunch and were really polite about asking to use the bathrooms. They all had a sense of humor, were friendly, nice and cared about getting everything exactly where we wanted it. Some movers do not wrap furniture and pack it incorrectly. Others take a long time, these guys hustled but were cautious with our things. I appreciate their concern and hard work. It was worth the money. read more

Meathead Movers doesn't deserve to receive 1 star after the experience we had with them!!!!!!!! My parents moved from their home of 40 years into a senior community. The place they moved into recommended Meathead to us. We would have preferred to get estimates from other companies but we went with Meathead. While the movers on the day of my parents move did a great job (so we thought) it wasn't until 2 days later that we realized they had damaged/broke my fathers 85" television. The day of the move 3 guys showed up to do the move. One of them seemed to be in charge. He gave my parents the contract just telling them where to sign and initial, giving them no time to read it. They felt rushed and pressured to just sign so the guys could get started. I highly DO NOT recommend this moving company to anyone looking for a move!!! If I could rate it in the negative stars I would! Dealing with corporate (Allison) is a total joke! They claim we received a copy of the contract before the day of the move to read and review it. We did not receive one! One of the parts was a claim on damaged items, something like 20 cents per pound. When we realized that the television had gotten broken during the move, we immediately contacted Corporate and after consideration their offer was $100 reimbursement. What a total joke!!! As he was heading to get more boxes from the truck, he saw two women struggling to take a pretty heavy shoe rack down a flight of stairs. My little three bedroom condo in San Diego, packed more artwork and knickknacks than any human should own. I had a week's time to move in, and I had zero assistance in making it happen, AND I had to work. So, basically, I was screwed. I leapt onto Angie's List and found Meathead Movers + Princess Packers. Being a marketing person, the name immediately drew me in as ridiculous and amazing. Also, the concept - these are college athletes that are putting themselves through school, and they "walk, don't run". I called and asked to have someone come out and survey my place so that I could get a more accurate estimate of cost. Every other moving company I had met with was late, didn't call until they were "en route" and after the hour had passed. Torrey arrived on my doorstep at exactly the time scheduled! Thank you for caring about my time! I know I do. We did a very pleasant walk through; Torrey was very professional, funny, kind. He handed me some very fancy looking collateral that had packing material pricing, more on their company, etc. Everyone is licensed and bonded, blah-blah, everyone will treat your stuff like it were their own, blah, blah, etc. He told me he would have an estimate to me that afternoon, and HE DID. Another miracle. I signed the contract and we were off and running. Two Princess Packers would be coming on Friday. Three Meathead Movers, on Saturday to haul the lot. I received a text with photos of my Princesses--turns out, I was getting Man Princesses. Kevin and Nicholas. They also showed up exactly on time, to the minute. We did a walk through to assess what was going and what was staying, etc. They literally ran, grabbed boxes, and started packing. Packing like I have never seen. They were so crazy respectful and delightful, I wanted to call their mothers and congratulate them. They worked tirelessly. I have so much stuff, and although it looks reasonable when you step into it, once the cupboards start opening, look out. They worked a 10-hour day, and were going to keep going. In fact, not only did they pack, but they were also moving stuff into the POD. There was some misunderstanding (in my favor). They thought they were supposed to pack and move me 100% that day. So I get an apologetic call from their supervisor who gives me a discount because they screwed up, and gave me greater service than expected. I was furious...? Mind = Blown. The Princess's go home, and the following day, on time again, I get three Meatheads, Kevin still leading the pack, although I was down a Nicholas. Such a sweet group of guys. They moved like lightening with crazy heavy furniture, paintings, you name it, it was hauled. Then Kevin comes to me while I am cleaning, and says: We couldn't get everything in, come take a look. I go downstairs and I have to come back upstairs because I am now crying. I start scrubbing the floor. I literally can't even. I can't even! Kevin retrieves the pile of Sylvia and hugs me and says, everything is going to be okay! We are going to do everything we can to get those things in. And for the most part, they did. The last two things, I could live without. Unlike the last time I packed one where we just threw and shoved things in and slammed the door shut, where half of the crap arrived broken on the other end... when you have a professionally packed POD, things are actually packed with the intention of arriving safely, and thus take up more space. Well, I'll be damned. Meathead Movers + Princess Packers is a kick-ass concept, and a company that exceeds all expectation and across the board. Jaime and Logan were ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING! I run a business that is known for customer service, and after witnessing how professional, responsible, and friendly these two Meatheads were, I was surprised they were so young and yet so mature. The only thing that irks me about their Yelp page is seeing a couple a-holes leave 1 star reviews over 'little' things, like 'they wrapped my stuff with bubble wrap too well'. I laughed for 5 minutes straight when I saw that. That's like "these guys cared for my stuff so much, and wanted everything to be so perfect, that it pissed me off!" How you know this business is great, is bc even the 'negative' remarks, prove that they CARE about their customers! MM was great from the start, from the moment I made the phone call to schedule our move, everything was so easy. When the Meatheads showed up, I checked my watch, they were 20 minutes early, and got straight to work, asked exactly how I would like everything done, and handled everything perfectly. I would like to start off by making it clear that the student movers, Brandon Miller and Carlos Correa, were absolutely wonderful. They were professional, polite, and took a lot of pride in their work. That being said, I did have issues with the rest of the company. To begin, their quote was easily 2-3x higher than all the other quotes I received for my local move. However, I was reassured over the phone by Frances H. that their price was higher because they included a specialist who was going to supervise the moving of my appliances (including a brand new fridge with a waterline in the door). I repeatedly expressed that I wanted my appliances to be hooked up at the new home. These included the fridge with a waterline, a washer, and a gas dryer. Repeatedly Frances reassured me that the specialist would take care of this and that the cost was included in my quote. On moving day there was no specialist. Brandon and Carlos did a great job of moving everything safely, but we did not feel comfortable allowing student athletes to install our appliances. Instead my husband and I spent the better part of Sunday doing it ourselves. After a few frustrating hours, there was still a strong smell of gas when the dryer was turned on. I had to turn everything off until I could get the gas company out (a week later) to fix the connection. This is not even the worse part! The following Monday, after leaving a review relaying my experience and how I was mislead into accepting this company's moving quote, I was called by the Irvine manager Thomas A. He apologized for the inconvenience, explaining that they did offer a concierge service (my "specialist") but there must have been a miscommunication. I was offered a $90 refund, as a show of goodwill and to earn my future business. I thought this was reasonable, as it easily covered the costs to get everything hooked up properly. It has been over a week and there is no sign of a refund, not even an email receipt confirming that I will receive a credit to my card. I'm terribly disappointed. I really wanted to support a company that supports student athletes, but they will not have my business again. *UPDATE* I have added an additional star (1 to 2). After initially posting this review I was immediately contacted by the company concerning my refund. They did process the refund, which I appreciate. Called Meathead Movers to unload a U-Pack semi-trailer. The reservation process went well, and someone from Meathead called back to confirm the time and address. Our two movers, Bradley Keizer and Frankie Jovel, arrived on time and ready to work. And work they did--good energy, good hustle, and good care with our stuff. So why only four stars rather than five? The answer would be experience. While Bradley and Frankie worked hard and well, it was clear that their level of experience was limited. They had never unloaded a U-Pack truck before, and so were not familiar with how to remove the bulkhead or set-up the ramp correctly. And that lack of experience carried through to other things as well. However, it was clear that Meathead's training program did train them in how to do many other tasks. And their attitudes were great. All in all, a good experience. read more

I've moved many times, all over the country, and using Meathead Movers was about the most pleasant, hassle free experience I've ever had with a moving company. Setting up the move online - and the follow up phone call - were a breeze. Everything was well explained and easy to get through. And, as part of the move confirmation call, their "concierge service" recommended a local carpet cleaning service that I used after the move was complete. The guys that did the move were also excellent. Juan and Nathan showed up a few minutes early and got right to work. Meathead Movers are the BEST! I've used them about a half a dozen times and they are terrific. This move was a challenge, because we were moving out of our house because of a remodel, with some of our items going to a storage unit, and some going to a rental house. Our Meatheads carefully planned both ways of the moves to make sure everything went to the right place & there was enough room in both the truck & the storage unit. Everything ended up in the right place with no damage. Something else I really appreciate is that the guys are good at taking furniture (including tricky beds) apart & putting them back together. I like to kid them that they will make very good husbands! Another quality I really appreciate, is how the Meatheads take time at the beginning of the jobs to plan out how they will proceed. Same with how they will move big/bulky furniture. It makes me feel that they care as much as I do about my furniture. Preplanning was another thing that Meathead do well. Our coordinator kept in regular touch to make sure we were prepared & had enough boxes/packing papers and tape. And the other very important quality of Meatheads is their friendly, professional demeanor & how no matter what, they are cheerful & ready to help out! I did speak to Allison and to my surprise she listened to the audios of the initial contact and realized I was telling the truth about what was offered to me and the 3 hour minimum. She offered me a deeper discount to 1350 which is not the 890 I was initially quoted but I was more impressed with the fact that she accepted responsibility for the company's shortcomings. I felt like she actually listened and was trying to rectify the situation, taking the bitter taste away. read more

Great bunch from the call to set it up to the actual moving of my crap. Side note first: I did a move from Yorba Linda to Long Beach and decided not to use Meathead Movers because of the cost. Well after choosing a cheaper company, I quickly learned my lesson. The other company totally ripped me a new one and it ending up costing more than what Meathead Movers quoted me in the first place. The worst part is that the other company didn't even offer to stitch the hole after screwing me so hard. Anyways, I just moved out of state and needed my stuff moved from my storage unit into a POD (labor only). I forgot the name of Meathead movers because it had been awhile so I just started calling down the list of local movers getting quotes. Between the accents and wishy washy quotes that seemed to change depending on the time of day I needed them I finally came to Meathead Movers and called them full of relief and excitement. Their quote even turned out to be less than the others I had previously got. They only charged $118/hour for 2 guys with a 3 hour minimum. The other quotes were from $130-$160/hr with 4 hour minimums. I gave 5 stars for a reason folks! Dillon from the call center set up and booked my request on short notice and was beyond super nice and helpful. Then Jaime S and Victor R showed up early, kicked butt, finished with time to spare and professionally loaded my POD for me. They even cleaned out my storage units when they finished. I could not have asked for better service and I HIGHLY recommend them for any of your moves. BUT if you have a need for a 2nd asshole, call the cheaper guys. I hired Meathead Movers to help me move my girlfriend's house into a pod and they were very efficient. They had the entire house emptied and packed very organized into the pod in no time. The only downside is the price per hour was really high and they finished in half the time but I still had to pay the full amount. For large houses they're likely your best bet but for a small house or apartment it can cost you. read more

A month after I moved I received a phone call from the customer service team at meathead movers saying they saw my yelp review and reviewed my claims form and have decided to refund me the full amount for my bookshelf! I needed to move a very heavy and large king size bed frame and wanted someone who could do a professional job. After several (disappointing) phone calls to other companies, I gave Meathead Movers a shot. I started the process online by filling out a short questionnaire about my needs for the move, put in the information and sent it off. Early the next morning I was given a call by a customer service person who talked me through the process and their fee structure. I have to say I was please with the fact that everything was laid out up front with the fees, and they even had a "not to exceed" cost guarantee. I got a call from Rudy the morning of the move to confirm who was to meet him and his partner Roger at the pick-up location and was told they might be a few minutes late due to the morning rush hour traffic. Well, not only did they arrive on time, they were a few minutes early. Roger and Rudy quickly loaded everything on to the truck and were on their way. They had arrived at the drop-off location and had already unloaded by the time I got there. They also assembled the bed frame and made sure everyting was clean and tidy before they left. All in all, it was the best moving experiences have ever encountered and will gladly use Meathead Movers again...and it goes without saying, I would recommend them to anyone in the market for a mover! read more

Had a great experience with these guys. My wife called around to a dozen places in the area that all wanted high $ minimums for a simple 1 bedroom move that was less than 6 miles away. After calling these guys we were able to get a much better deal and the guys were really fast. read more
