California went into a "shelter in place" status 2 days prior to my move date. I started freaking out! I contacted your office immediately the next day and I was advised that my movers would still be available to help me move out of my place ! It was such a huge weight lifted. My mover Christian was very professional and helpful. They were fast , prompt , and courteous. I even received a coffee mug days later ( I had to move on my birthday which sucked) This company is awesome! I'm definitely going to use your services again and refer you to my friends and family. The movers themselves were really great. Nice guys, hard workers and took good care of my things for the most part. That said my mattress was damaged during the move. These things happen though and I'm not terribly upset by the damage. Where Meathead Movers has been a real disappointment is in their handling of the damage. It took almost 10 days to get the correct person on the phone to try to resolve the damage. Once I got Allison Montes on the phone, which was a very difficult task, rather than explain how they determine the compensation for the damage she talked in circles about various hoops I need to jump through. As of now, I having been told that there is no formal process used calculate the damages. I am told that she will decide the value. This seems quite arbitrary, and her talking in circles was very misleading. I believe intentionally so. The guys doing the work were great, unfortunately the company creates a bit of a wild goose chase to get the proper employees on the phone, is misleading if not dishonest when you do get them on the phone and they not stand behind their services. With that said, I would not recommend using Meathead Movers. read more

I've waited a while to write this review because there was just so much to say. You guys, I've moved 10 times and this was THE WORST!!! So many things went wrong but here are the top.... 1) My guaranteed not to exceed price was increased day of the move - I could "find a new company" but really?! One THE DAY OF the move no one can find a new one then. 2) the packers disassembled items and could never reassemble them. My RH coffee table is forever ruined... which Brings me to my next point. 3) SO MUCH DAMAGE. I went through so many repair men quotes (for furniture and walls, etc) Over $10,000 to be exact. And then I dealt with 6 months of trying to get it reimbursed - which ended up being a FRACTION of what was done. Listen to the other reviews on here and spare yourself. We had an amazing experience with Meathead Movers! We booked 2 movers to unload our Pod after moving cross country. Elijah and Andreas were just phenomenal -- they requested a walkthrough prior to the unload, so they could see the layout and understand where things were meant to go. During the move process, they periodically asked about ambiguously labeled boxes, making accurate guesses as where the box should go before they put it in the wrong place. As a result, our unboxing process was as easy as it could be, because everything was in its proper location. They were friendly, outgoing, and exceeded our expectations in what we could expect in movers, especially for a smallish job that didn't involve a truck. Ivan A, Michael M and Angel O were all so professional, polite and thoughtful every step of the way. They were efficient and fast, but also very careful with everything. We used Meathead Movers to relocate after 15 years in our previous residence. The virtual walk-through allowed us to properly prepare and estimate our costs. We were provided with multiple detailed quotes so that we knew exactly what to expect in terms of price. On moving day the crew showed up right on time and quickly got to work. Everything was padded and wrapped securely before being loaded into the truck. The team worked hard to maximize space and were able to transport far more than we initially expected. Upon arriving at the new house, the crew unloaded everything and placed items to our specifications. They were very thorough and took care to protect our items, our walls, our floors, and everything in between. The crew, consisting of John Zeta, Marcos Chavez, Michael Dodson, and Alexzander Torres, were polite, hard working, and personable. The only "downside" to the experience was the lack of corporate willingness to disassemble, move, and reassemble our fridge. They were concerned about the inability to remove the doors and be able to properly reassemble at the other end. This should be disclosed during the virtual walk-through to ensure that large items that can't fit through doors have a proper "exit strategy". Overall we'd recommend Meathead Movers to others in need of a reputable moving company. We felt like we paid a premium for the services, but got our money's worth. read more

I was very hesitant to hire movers for the first time because of the $, but my husband convinced me we needed the extra help (we moved from a 3rd floor apartment to a 3-story townhome and it was simply too many stairs to tackle on our own). Meathead Movers was willing to work with us right off the bat, explaining how we could make the move work within our budget. When our movers showed up, they were polite and eager. Raine and Shandor (I hope I'm getting their names right??) were incredibly efficient and fast but careful with our things. It was a hot day and they took it upon themselves to carry as many boxes as they could at a time to help the move go quicker. Don't hire meathead movers. Worst experience ever and it barely started. They charge $210 an hour for 2 college kids and will nickel and dime you even when they get there. Helping a friend with their 1 bd tiny townhouse and it cost $757. They make you write a list of everything you have and if you miss 1 item, they have to call a manager to get a new price. Yet it's by the hour! Makes zero sense. Sales guy told me if we missed an item it's ok, not true. Total bait and switch. For $210 an hour I expected great experience. I paid Ruth Chris price and got Norms experience. Tried to give back during covid by hiring student athletes and just got burned! This place is a rip off! You've been WARNED! read more

I think the biggest obstacle is the price. I was given MUCH better pricing from other companies but went with this company because they called back the fastest and I wanted to get it over with. MY BAD. A true estimate should be made by going to the actually location the client is moving to when applicable. In my case, even though I called to get the information from my new building regarding parameters, it was different once we arrived. Other moving companies were there moving as well into a complex with one elevator. I then received a phone call that my pricing was going up! NOT TO EXCEED should not exceed the agreed price. IT WAS ALREADY RIDICULOUS! I had to call friends to come help in fear of going over my price as I was told that the boxes would be put on the curb if we went past the time that they "thought" it would take on the original estimate. Not my fault. Not to mention, I pulled my back out terribly as I was trying to help with the boxes so they wouldn't be left on the curb according to my rep. I have a one bedroom apartment apartment gong to another one bedroom 8 miles away with no furniture to move except a mattress (no box spring) This took 7 hours. NOT ACCEPTABLE. Im going to keep this short... and update this as the saga continues...I attached photos to this review as well just showing the actual damage done, so everyone knows this really is not blown out of proportion. Here are some actual facts: - The movers on the day super nice guys, so nice, despite the blunders we tipped them. - The movers acknowledged the damage and were apologetic. - Outside of damage to table and couch they also took a chunk out of the wall and scratched paint off the walls. - They weren't happy that someone from their pre-booking team didn't come out to assess the house before hand to review any tight corners or turns. - We were told to reach out for reimbursement, so we did... THIS IS WHERE THIS STORY BLOWS ME AWAY...*leaving names out of this out of respect to the individuals involved* - Speak to a rep about reimbursement on Sep11th 2017... - File claims and all paperwork on Sep 14th Fedex over night and emailed over. - Sep 19th I follow up to get a response - Sep 19th response: Hello **** I apologize I am still awaiting a response from my supervisor who will be in tomorrow. In regards to getting a resolution taken care of. Everything seems to be in order I apologize for the wait but I am on top of this and working on getting your resolution completed as soon as possible - Sep 26th I follow up because no response since Sep 19th (10 days later) - Oct 5th I follow up and still no response. So then I decide... YOLO... I'll call Meathead Movers and ask for an actual update... well guess what the guy who was working our file... he left! Even better his emails never bounced... even better than that, no one took over the file and if by some miracle they did, they sure as hell didn't call or email us to let us know. I speak to a Customer Service rep (again very friendly) states someone did review the file on Oct 3rd... but didn't reach out to me? So someone reviewed the file, the claim, the string of un-replied emails... and then thought "hmmm ok, this should go in the too tough basket" So now... here we are ladies and gentleman... Meathead Movers a well reviewed business on YELP proud of their reviews and ranking, receives a 1 x STAR... If this STAR could be an ASTEROID of discontent and embarrassment on how horrifically awful their open lines of communication are... they would get one! Then I remember... these are all first world problems... and in context with whats going on in the world, this really doesn't chalk much against it. I will update this as the story develops, share across a multitude of social media and bulk email sources, and at this rate possibly write a screenplay about a mans honest war against a faulty corrupt moving company and its many wrong doings. So do I recommend MeatHead Movers... no absolutely not... are the guys that moved friendly, hell yeah they were. Was there damage done.. substantial. I will always remember this experience and this company for everything that is wrong in world when it comes to a true customer experience. #### UPDATE ##### - 15 mins after writing this review, my phone rings. - Submission has been reviewed and drumroll.... $380 is the refund. - $250 for the damage to the house and $130 for couch and table which was valued at $3,5k+... thats 4% - PLEASE: READ THE FINE PRINT AND NO MATTER WHAT TAKE OUT THE MOST EXPENSIVE INSURANCE POLICY WITH THEM... If I based this review solely on the young men who moved me, I would give them FIVE STARS. Those kids worked really hard, were kind and thorough, and took the job seriously the whole time. I have to give only two stars though, because despite an accurate description of a WHOLE LOT of stuff to move, the company itself decided to cut corners, sending only TWO movers for a huge job. Additionally, they sent a truck that was too small, so in the end, I had to pay for a uhaul van and separate mover to finish the job. The "refund" that the main offices offered for the error was insulting. At the end of the day, if I include their discount, I had to spend an additional $1,000 to finish a moving job that I paid them $6,000 to complete on their own. The movers were very professional and quick. They also kept me informed of the time and when we were going over the time anticipated. They texted and called me the morning of the move to let me know when to expect them at the residence. They stayed until I was happy with the placement of the furniture and boxes. I'm not sure if it's incompetence or criminally but several items were missing and we didn't realize it for a month. While their estimate was over $1,500 less than others (should have been the first clue) the value of our missing items makes it a wash. From the first interaction that I had with Meathead Movers I was impressed. I needed a one day rush move out with packing services included. Michelle the Inside Move Coordinator made sure that all of my needs were taken into account. The movers met me at my house, got their instructions, started the clock and ran. They ran all day long. They never hesitated or slowed down, just handled everything as quickly, smoothly and professionally as possible. For the mad dash crazy rush job that it was it couldn't have gone better. Glad I went with this company, as others have mentioned, it was a bit pricey but virtually nothing was damaged during my move (aside from a small scratch on my desk - but frankly they had to put it through a pretty narrow door frame). Not to mention the one day it decided to actually rain in Riverside it started pouring, so the move became a two-day ordeal. The movers took whatever was packed and came back the next day to finish the job - totally professional overall, improvised well and packed and unpacked everything nicely! This was my second time using Meathead Movers and I once again was delighted and impressed. From booking my service to packing to the move itself, everything ran smoothly. Now I will say that they're not the cheapest movers out there, but it's truly a case of getting what you pay for. An example of their excellent customer service is that they brought in an additional mover when one of the guys hurt his wrist and had to stop working for the day. I can't believe you only pay your STUDENT ATHLETE WORKERS 17 dollars an hour. They do amazing work, are very caring with other peoples items and risk their athletic careers for this job. Also, you guys charge a mega premium, you can afford to pay your workers at least 20 per hour. They don't do an easy job, they literally lift heavy items. One wrong move and their athletic career can be over and that's insane you only pay them 17 an hour. They did a move recently for me and were excellent but once I found out how much they were paid I was shocked. Yes they're students but still, the job they do is extremely strenuous. Way smaller moving companies pay their employees at least 20 an hour plus tips. Also, their sales people need to get it together. They're not communicating effectively to the customers. The 3 stars are solely for the movers. They were excellent, the sales people however probably get paid more to sit there and mess up peoples quotes. read more

This company is a scam!!!! When we set up the move we let them know exactly how much furniture we had and we're told by the sales guy that it would take no longer than three hours. For reference our house was a two bedroom townhouse with miscellaneous items fitting into 30 boxes, bedroom furniture, a desk, washer and dryer and a living room. It took them nearly 8 hours (the move was from Irvine to Costa Mesa so it was not a long drive). This was with 6 guys and two trucks. We called customer service during the move to try and understand why it was taking so long and were told they went to lunch (they arrived at 11 then took lunch at 1). We didn't get any sufficient responses as to what could be taking so long. We watched as one mover slowly moved items inside - the rest (five guys) stood inside talking. When we went back to the old house we were shocked to find that a good amount of items were not moved - chairs, lamps, boxes etc. they even left behind the stand/pad the washing machine sits on. When we called the company they said the movers went home with no apology or explanation. In the new house they didn't move any of the boxes into the rooms they belonged despite them all being clearly labeled as to what room they belonged in- they just crammed everything in the garage leaving us to try and haul heavy boxes up the stairs. They didn't put one bed together at all and seem to have taken the screws to put it together. The box spring on the other was put in upside down. Dirty hands stained our white mattress. A very heavy cabinet that was marked to go in a second story bedroom was left in the garage. We have no idea what they were doing for 8 hours. Multiple calls to customer service and "operation managers" were made and no one apologized or attempted to remedy the problem. We called this morning (the move was yesterday) asking for them to at least send guys back to the old house to retrieve the remaining items and move the heavy items from the garage upstairs and they said they'll "see if they can get someone to come back" after we pay them more money. The initial deposit was $1100 and they tried to charge my card (unauthorized) another $1100 multiple times after the pathetic job they did yesterday. Again, no apologizes or attempts to fix the problems even after pictures of all the remaining furniture was sent to management. Luckily I put a hold on my American Express when it became evident how shady this company really is but now we're forced to hire another moving company today in order to get the original job done and be out of our old house in time. Worst move of all time with the worst moving company. There are lots of better moving companies out there and I would recommend avoiding this one at all costs. I'll be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against these crooks immediately as well as reporting the fraudulent charges. UPDATE: After speaking with their customer service manager I was told they'd attempt to locate a missing box of items as well as put in a claim for the scratched dining room table and entertainment console that was broken (they lost a center shelf and some screws). I never heard anything back from them until getting a collection letter for an additional $2k+. They never followed up on my missing and broken items or requested additional money (as a matter of fact they state they have a money back guaranty if you're unsatisfied which I obviously am). We had a heck of a move from a second floor condo to a three story condo, with all the heavy stuff going to the third floor. The Meatheads were friendly and really hustled. They were great about wrapping and disassembling everything and getting it out and in. The communication from initial quote to after move follow up was great. I loved using Meathead Movers. They were totally prepared and through. From Jack who helped arrange the move and set everything up to the fanatic movers (Christian H, Devon B, and Joel A). They were amazing. We moved from an apartment on the first floor to one about 15 minutes away on the second story with a tricky set of stairs. We had several large (heavy and oddly shaped) furniture with several book cases and they didn't bat and eye. We also had lots of glass tops to our larger pieces (tops to tables, dressers, ect) and NONE OF IT BROKE. They moved all of our boxes full of books with ease (four bookcases full of books) and without any problem. They were wonderful. Made moving 100% easier and they were very nice young men. Would definitely use then again. My parents were so impressed they are considering them for their upcoming move. read more

We used meathead movers on our recent move. While overall they were great, I feel like there was significant delays for the loading of the moving car. At a certain point, my husband and I had to help the movers carry boxes and items down to the truck because this part was taking almost 3 hours. This was the case even though we had prepacked essentially all of our items in advance of moving day (other than the large items of furniture). The workers themselves were friendly and one of the workers worked very hard, but I do feel like they lacked some experience overall. My husband had to help them navigate a couple of items because they had trouble figuring out how to move it. For the price I paid (almost $1000 on a 1 bedroom move!), I did expect much more and was a bit let down. read more

I wanted to like these guys; I really did. The estimater (salesman) seemed so nice. But gave us a card with a misspelled email, so it was a hassle trying to reach him. Showed up with dirt on his pants. Then kept raising the amount after a few conversations. Yeah no thanks. Found another company with great reviews across the board that was charging 1/2 the amount for the same job. Yeah get it together guys. This is super unprofessional. I just WASTED 3 hours going back and forth, being transferred and speaking to FOUR different people with this company. My INITIAL question was if they have a three hour minimum, to which i was told a clear "no". This was for a basic move, one storage unit, into an empty apartment THREE MILES away. I was quoted almost SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS. I would highly recommend going with a more direct, local, moving company that has experienced movers. This facade of a moving company just gives you the ring around. They only got two stars because at lease all of the "service representatives" which, warning: are different than the people who can actually check availability, give you a quote, or schedule anything other than a run around game of phone tag- were actually very polite. read more

They were able to pack our boxes into the truck and then subsequently unload them at our new house in an efficient and timely manner. When it comes to moving my heart usually sinks. The few times I've ever used moving companies I have had the frustrating experiences of the movers showing up hours late, disappearing for hours "because of traffic" and moving slowly that you literally can feel your wallet getting smaller. None of these were my recent experience with Meathead Movers. From start to finish, they were organized, professional and easy to communicate with. I really liked having the opportunity to fill out an online inventory to generate an accurate estimate of movers and time so that my husband and I felt secure in knowing up front how much everything would cost. The team on the phone calls was very helpful and friendly- providing great detail in what every step of the move would look like. On moving day, my husband and I could not believe how quickly the guys MOVED! Our movers were Deonte H., Deon F., Alexis V., & Eduardo H. They were professional, polite (even would ask permission to use our facilities) and worked really hard. They discovered upon arrival that their truck would not be able to fit in the long driveway to our apartment due to a dead tree. This could have been an easy opportunity to squeeze hundreds of additional dollars out of us due to the extra time this may require. However, they continued to hustle and still had our entire place packed up in the original estimation- very impressive! Their unpacking of our items in the new home was equally impressive- these guys truly hustled and their hard work ended up saving us hundreds of dollars as we did not even reach our ceiling cost despite a two-hour commute to the new home. Deonte was very helpful in explaining everything throughout the day and was organized with all signatures and paperwork required. Just wasted at least 30 minutes of my time trying to get a quote from these con artists to move 44 metal filing cabinets from Pomona to Hesperia (I've previously been quoted less than $500). About half of these are actually trash & going to a recycling center right here in Pomona.
