Sorry, but I cannot recommend this company. I used them for a move a few months ago and the movers badly damaged and scratched the vintage wood door jams and doors in my home when they tried to shove a couch and chair through the door multiple times without first removing the legs (an amateur moving mistake and just common sense). The movers seemed to be hurried and more concerned with not going over the time limit they were given. I repeatedly told them to slow down and do the job correctly and that I would pay for extra time if needed. That was bad enough, but the way it was handled by the movers onsite and management when the damage report was called in was awful. I asked for a reasonable amount be taken off the total bill to compensate the damage and they lowballed me, offering much less than what it would cost to fix the damage. No supervisor apology, no genuine concern from the movers on site. In fact, a supervisor never even talked to me. I have used other large moving companies many times before for moves and they NEVER made a scratch to my property. Basically, this company seems only concerned with the bottom line and saving time, not customer satisfaction. Their movers and supervisors could use additional training in customer service, troubleshooting issues and basic moving skills. You've been warned. read more

From my first phone call to Sarah to inquire about their rates to the actual move , this company is excellent and so professional. My movers Joseph, Javier and Carlos went above and beyond my expectations of what my move would be like. They don't walk - they trot!! I would give ZERO stars if I could. I don't know who is giving them good reviews (I wonder who they are paying or begging to post) They couldn't even give an estimate!!! I gave all my details, they said I had to wait for a Long Sales Rep to call back for some reason. Another person calls back 3 days later to confirm the same details I had already given them and now I had to wait again for a long sales rep to call back. Again? So why did they call? What takes so long? After 5 days I don't even have an estimate (of course they claim they need to know EVERYTHING in order to make the perfect estimate... BS! NorthStar took less than 5 mins giving an estimate. I am sure now they will reply to this post saying to please contact them in private to fix the issue (another BS). I don't know who is recommending this moving Co., but you guys should research a little bit better if in reality you are using their services. read more

This review is far overdue, because I gave the wrong location a 5 star. However, if you ever need to move this is the place to use. I have moved to many times and each time was worst and before. That is until Meatheads moved us. We had a strange and difficult move due to we had to be out on the 4th from a current place and we couldn't move in to our new place until the 8th. Meatheads recommended that I got my own truck so I didn't have to pay their price for the truck for 4 extra days. I went to Enterprise and they also get a 5 star for helping out. I paid 1/2 the price of having a U-Haul truck for 1 day and remember I had their truck for 4 days. I ended up with 2 different teams. One moving us out and a different team moving us back in. They were both fantastic. When I called around for pricing the Meatheads came out the highest, but because they move so quickly they actually ended up being the cheapest. I can't say enough great things about their services. I really hope we don't have to move again, but if we do I will only use Meatheads. Thank you to all of you. PS! Friendly people but only use them if you don't care what condition you furniture shows up in. They scratched our Formal Dinning Room Table and even though we paid extra for some of their insurance coverage we are still waiting for them to fix the table. We have contacted their customer service and sent pictures even though their lead person on the move took photos him self the day of the move but no action on their part. Like I said in the beginning, if you don't care what condition you furniture shows up in go ahead and use them. read more

I'd give Meathead Movers 10 stars if I could. They were wonderful. They loaded my daughter and her husband's things into the 16 ft PODS that they used to move their belongings from LA to Chicago. Meathead called to confirm the move a week before the big day. They showed up exactly when they said they would. It took 2 guys, Ben and Jorden, 4 hours to move everything out of their 2nd floor apartment into the PODS. This included taking apart the heavy bedroom furniture and wrapping all of the furniture to protect it. They were very professional. Unfortunately, we had the exact opposite experience with the people in Chicago who unloaded the PODS. Our Chicago experience made us appreciate the Meathead Movers all the more. read more

My previous experience with movers was bad so I really did my research and hands-down Meathead Movers looked to be the one, but would they deliver the service? Every interaction with representatives from Meathead Movers was very positive; they could offer courses on customer service. My move involved three locations so my move coordinator, Fernando G. came and did a free 3-location estimate. They know what good old-fashioned customer service is all about--how refreshing! My family and I were so impressed with every aspect of the move and each of our movers. They said they would be there at 9:00 a.m., they were there at 8:45 a.m. Our movers, Jonathan G, Deionte H., Michael D., Taylor B., Garrett T., Jake S., Ben H., Josh D., were polite, professional, hard-working and just down-right likable! Fernando, move coordinator even came by to see how it was going. Our crew finished up hours ahead of schedule on both days. These are college students who are athletes--they are strong and energetic! Nothing was lost, nothing was broken. My final cost came in WAY UNDER the not to exceed estimate. Needless to say, I recommend Meathead Movers and will definitely use them in the future. read more

They are priced a bit higher than most. Also do not leave the $100.00 deposit to secure your date. It is hard to get it refund back to you as I have had to ask for it twice now. And they told me the only way to secure the date is to sign the contract, or be more than 50% sure you want to go with them. So if calling to get quotes, do not leave the pointless deposit. read more

Two weeks ago I moved from one apt to another - a little less than 4 miles apart. I requested a quote from Meathead Movers online and got a call the next day. I have a standard one bedroom apt - typical bedroom, dining room, and living room furniture. I needed my fridge moved, boxes plants, etc. I was quoted approx $750 for two guys for four hours, with the caveat that the price could be higher if they go over the four hours. The two guys arrived on time and the lead mover told me he had to do an "inventory" of my items. Ten minutes later he came back and said I had move items than I'd said and it was going to cost more. He'd have to call HQ and get a new quote. When he came back from the phone call he said they were also sending me two more guys to assist with the job. The moves themselves were great. Nice guys, super careful, efficient, and professional. I felt good having my worldly possessions in their hands. At the end of the day, it took them 5.5 hours and I ended up paying over double what had originally been quoted. I feel like I was taken advantage of because I was a single female. I'm torn because the movers themselves were great, however I'm really upset that their quote was so off the mark. Because of that, i wouldn't recommend them. read more

I used these guys recently to move some furniture for me that I bought at an estate sale in TO. I go to those all the time but this was the first time that I bought such large items. I usually buy smaller items that will fit in my car. But the two amazing couches plus side tables that I purchased three weeks ago would not fit :). My husband was not happy when I told him that I purchased these and he basically told me to sort it out myself on how to get them home and into our living room. So I did!!! And they were awesome. Based off of my initial impression dealing with Rebecca in the Chat window, I have to say that I am less inclined to use Meathead movers. I asked a basic question about pricing and she continuously instructed me to create a custom quote. I think customer service should be able to provide general information about how much it would cost to use a couple people to load 4 (48x40x46) totes into a dump trailer. I did not need assistance unloading the trailer just loading it. I was not going to hold her to any rate she advised. I was just trying to figure out if I should waste my time filling out the quote form. I found it frustrating and then when I asked to be transferred to someone else who might be able to assist, the chat ended. Poor customer service in my opinion. read more

Very satisfied. The arrived on time (actually a little early, but they gave us a heads up call). They did a good job on disassembly and reassembly. No damage of note during the move. I think one or two small scrapes that I would consider unavoidable due to the tight quarters and staircases at our destination. The guys showed good hustle, even when the temperatures started to climb. Good attitudes as well. The move was completed about halfway between the minimum and maximum quoted amounts. I know the price they quoted but it was ridiculous for the move of 15 minutes and so easy and move also the three young men apparently sent me this outrageously condescend a card thanking me for my generous tip . I can hardly pay rent and I don't think these three stooges deserve to Dime . Do not hire these people they are ridiculous quickly and was desperate. My husband and I used Meathead Movers twice. Once for a move from Oxnard to Anaheim, and again for a move within Orange County. Although the business is currently just based out of Ventura County, they still covered our move within Orange County for a reasonable rate. I've never hired movers before this company, but some of the primary complaints I've read about other companies is that they did not do a good job handling items with care, were sloppy and unprofessional, lazy while on the job, etc. I can say with great assurance that these are not problems one would deal with with Meathead Movers. The movers handled our belongings with great care and made the move very easy for us both times. They made sure to wrap furniture items to secure any drawers/loose items and packed the truck using lots of furniture pads and bungee cords to secure items in place. We had no casualties over the course of both of our moves. Their statement about hustling while not carrying your items is absolutely true--these guys jog back to the truck and make all efforts to move quickly and efficiently. They do a great job with the teamwork to get bulky items moved faster and safer and also help with any arranging or assembling of furniture if you specify. They even had lots of additional time after getting our items into our new home, so they helped us unload an additional truck we had personally rented and packed with our items from storage. When we moved the second time, I had a 6 day-old newborn and could hardly get around myself. The Meathead Movers set me up with a chair near the entryway of the house and had me direct them with where to put everything. They worked quickly and meticulously while I sat and bossed them around ;) And their "Yes ma'ams" were appreciated, even though it kind of made me feel like some kind of slave-driver. Above all else, these gentlemen are extremely courteous and very easy to get along with. During the job, one of the guys said to me, "You know, it makes me feel really good to know that we are able to help you out so much and make things easier for you." I don't know if it was my leftover pregnancy hormones getting the best of me, or what, but this statement made me feel a little emotional! It was a very genuine and heartfelt comment that really shows what a class act these guys are. When you price-compare with other companies, you will certainly end up paying a little extra for their services, but it's highly unlikely you'll end up unhappy with the service, which seems to be a problem with other companies. I absolutely recommend Meathead Movers to help with your next move, big or small. read more

I noticed that all the reviews so far are 5 stars. That about sums things up! Make sure you read past the next paragraph... You know those horror stories you hear about getting a "great" estimate, and then after all your items are packed, loaded, and transported, you get the line "our policy is to ask for payment before we start to unload" and you're handed a bill that is 3X what you were quoted - but it gets better, right: they literally hold ALL your material possessions hostage and won't unload anything until you agree to pay the entire bill in cash. This is of course after breaking antique heirlooms and massive scratches on the headboard of the master bed. Unbelievable. Yeah, I've had that very unfortunate nightmare experience. Fortunately, my experience with Meathead Movers was very different!!! Having had such a terrible experience in the past with other movers, and hearing all the horror stories, when it came time to move my grandparents up from Hemet, we wanted to make sure it was a painless process that went very smooth. I interviewed several moving companies. Meathead Movers was not the cheapest estimate I received. But I knew enough to realize the ones that were cheap would probably triple the bill while holding everything hostage, and instilled very little confidence in me that my grandparents valued possessions would be cared for with the utmost attention. In short, they didn't have a reputation that I felt was required for the level of service we were looking for, and frankly finding a company that did wasn't easy. But Meathead Movers was awesome! Moving is a huge ordeal. When irreplaceable items are broken, I can't communicate effectively with the movers, or most importantly if something did go wrong, the time I would have to invest haggling with a 2nd (or 3rd) rate organization just wasn't worth it to me. The cost of those things easily outweighed the difference in price between Meathead and the other companies I spoke with. And most importantly, Meathead Movers delivered exactly what they promised and I expected: excellent service, on time, all items moved flawlessly, courteous movers that really worked hard to complete the job as quickly as possible (they literally ran when they were not carrying any items, it was pretty incredible) while still taking care of our belongings, and really a great overall experience. And most importantly, I wasn't handed a bill that was 3 times as much as I was quoted, and they didn't use shady, under-handed tactics to strong-arm me into paying such an outrageous bill. If you have ever been, or someone you know has been through the nightmare scenario so common with other movers, you know what I mean. It is INCREDIBLY frustrating, and the worst part is you end up actually paying MORE for a much lesser service, and end up with damaged items. The one regret I have is I heard Meathead Movers have a new packing service that is only recently available - I wish we could have taken advantage of that as well!! Packing, and doing so properly, is so time-consuming and tiring. So, bottom line, if you're moving and the things you've spent your life collecting are as important to you as they are to my grandparents, I highly recommend Meathead Movers services. Meathead Movers is one of the most professional service companies that I've contracted with. Timely, careful, affordable, fully insured, organized and accommodating. If you have issues, it's probably because you weren't prepared, didn't disassemble goods in advance, or just aren't an experienced mover (yes, there are things you'll need to do to ensure a smooth move). My wife and I used Meathead movers to move our modest belongings to storage and another residence so our house could be renovated. At 1350 sq. ft. it was not a large volume of furniture,etc. to move, but our contents were important to us. I have no doubt that we were treated no differently than a client with a very complicated and content rich move. As I visit the storage unit periodically for one or more content pieces I am amazed at the protection and convenience the storage unit affords me during this construction period. In addition, the movers were on time, positive, very hard-working, as well as very efficient. I am quite sure all will be the same as we move back to our house. I may also rent a smaller unit at Meathead's to continue to store items. The units are clean and secure and it would seem, always available. Our main contact person has been Molly. She is personable and extremely efficient, and is never without a smile and a positive attitude. At the very least, should you be thinking of moving, call "Molly" or one of the other assistants and visit the site. I don't know of other local moving companies . . . but then, I don't feel a need to know or use another service. It's a family owned business that makes you feel like a family member. We moved with meathead movers this summer and did not have a good experience. The crews (packers, loaders and unloaders) were all great people with positive attitudes and they worked really hard. The problem was they were young and inexperienced. Packing up the truck took more than twice as long (6.5 hours) as our last local move two years ago. It was hot, so part of that may have been been because of the heat. My two teenage boys and husband were also helping carry things out to the truck because it was taking so long. They seemed unorganized in the process. But then the worst part happened...they told us that they were not going to be able to fit all of our stuff in the truck. They had no solutions except that we could drive to our local U-Haul and rent our own moving truck. We couldn't do this because both my husband and I were driving our cars loaded with stuff and our 3 kids. We realized that we were going to have to leave a garage full of stuff behind and drive back in a few weeks with a U-Haul. We had to start prioritizing and deciding which things we needed right away and which things could wait until we could come back in 3 weeks, which was the earliest time we could drive back with a truck. The amount of stuff that didn't fit in the moving truck was enough stuff to fill a small Uhaul. This was not just a few things. When the estimator came to our house before the move, he told us that we may be over a truck load by one piece of furniture. So before the move my husband rented a Uhaul to take up all his surfboards and drum set. While he was at it, he also filled the Uhaul to make sure we didn't go over for the moving truck. The most disappointing part is that we hired a moving company to move us. We paid a lot of money ($3500) for a move that was 1.5 hours away and we still had to move ourselves. (2 U-Haul trips) They finally returned our phone call after trying twice and their solutions was to give us a $250 refund. We appreciate that, but the issue for us was our time, energy and all the stress it added to our move. What we really wanted when we moved was to hire a company to move us so we didn't have to do it. We thought we were hiring professionals who would move all of our stuff from point A to point B. Something went wrong and I'm not sure if it was the estimate/inventory or the inexperienced workers or the way Meathead does business. I hesitated to even write a bad review because all the young men that we worked with were so sincere and nice and seemed like they were doing their best. I don't want this review to get them in trouble. They did a good job packing and none of our things were damaged. (except they didn't have enough boxes for our art and we covered that during the estimate also) They covered our large pieces of art with moving blankets and tape, which made me nervous, but we didn't have a choice unless we left our art behind and moved it ourselves later. I felt I should write a review because we noticed all the great 5 star reviews on Yelp, which is why we went with them. I wish that someone had warned me that you may have an experience where they leave a significant amount of things behind. Thankfully we were only moving 1.5 hours away and we didn't have anyone moving into our old house right away. What would we have done if it was a long distance move??? I cannot recommend Meathead Movers if you want a low stress move. read more

BEWARE! They quoted me $800 when they arrived they told me it could be 1600 if they went over the four hours I was quoted. The lady who took my reservation said it would not go over 4 hours, based on what I had to move, and I only needed 2 guys. They moved slowly, didn't cover carpet as requested in initial booking, left blankets behind which I had to run back and get from the old residence and damaged a personal item. I filed a claim for the damage with them and they said I had a deductible (read their contract closely!!!) and they would only give me half of the claim because they were at fault. I told them to keep the money as it wasn't the point. Be careful as they will throw in charges of wardrobe boxes and do not tell you. I ended up with $90 worth of wardrobe boxes I had no need for and wouldn't have purchased had they been honest and upfront about them. Be aware they aren't hanging out in their truck when you can't see them as a neighbor told me they saw this happen. Funny end of story is they went over by 15 minutes and charged me for it. They will tell you that you signed the contract and everything was in writing. It was, but verbally they tell a different story so read your contract and do not trust them. I must add this information in reply to Allison's response below: I have a damaged piece of art and $90 worth of moving boxes. Your resolution of not paying for the damage your crew caused to my personal property is insulting. Your crew did not run, they walked. It was only when I brought up how slow the move was going that they started moving faster. You are acting as if you were there for my move. The estimated time was 4 hours. They went over by 15 minutes so they did not "beat" anything. Again, this company likes to twist words around to their benefit. read more

In summary: After paying several thousand dollars for professional movers and packers I still had to take an ADDITIONAL 2 days off of work and make 9 trips back and forth in my little hatchback moving the remainder of my goods. That means I was 1 week past the date that I really wanted to be out of my house (an extra 6 days of rent that had to be paid) and had to take 4 days off of work (more of an expense for me) for a move that took place over a 3 day weekend. I am very disappointed in the overall experience. My move was really in 3 parts, so I'll review them individually since they were so drastically different. Background: I needed to move out immediately, like 4 days before the actual move day but being the end of the month all movers were booked so we couldn't schedule it any earlier. Saturday: Princess Packers - 3 stars When I called to scheduled my move the consultant I spoke with said they could throw in packing assistance since it was such a big move. The packers came on Saturday, and charged quite a bit for their time. No matter, we had to pack up since the movers were coming on Sunday so we needed the help. They essentially had to pack up 1/2 of my kitchen, part of an office, and some odds and ends. There were 3 packers and 2 trainees. They did alright, what I have unpacked so far has not been damaged. They were sloooooow. There was a lot more chatting than there was actual packing. Not what you want to see when you're paying by the hour. I will say they were all very nice and showed a lot of respect for our possessions. Sunday: Meathead Movers - 5 stars They arrived right on time, it was supposed to be a team of 6 with 2 trucks but one called out so it was actually a team of 5. These guys worked so hard and were in and out so much that I didn't even notice that there were only 5 until the end. The packed the trucks to the brim and while it took longer than they expected, they were within the estimate. They weren't able to fit it all on their trucks, the leader said that a cleanup crew would come back out to get the rest. Coming back to the house to get the rest after unloading didn't appear to be an option. The unload took maybe an hour, they worked really hard and offered to rearrange boxes/furniture before they left so it was situated the best for us to be able to get settled in our new home. I give this team 5 stars, they really did a fantastic job. Wednesday: Meathead Movers Cleanup Crew - 1 star Since the main move ended so late in the day I couldn't call to schedule the cleanup crew until Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). They were able to schedule the crew for Wednesday. The only details I received was that it was a team of 2 who would arrive at 9 am. They did, in fact arrive at 9 am. They looked around and asked what was going... I said everything, it was a move out. This was my first alarm. They started loading the truck... slowly. There was no hustle, most of the time I only saw one of the guys doing the loading, I don't know where the 2nd was. After an hour they stopped and told me they were done. They weren't done, there were still items throughout the house. This is where #1 told me that it was only an hour job (no one ever mentioned this to me) and they had to stop. The truck wasn't out of space so it was just a matter of time. The other kicker was like 4 of the things they left were big and they were heavy. Far heavier than I could carry myself and far larger than would fit in my car. I had to beg them to load most of them (they still didn't take all of them) because I just couldn't physically do it. At our new house they unloaded... slowly. I think I unloaded more than half of their truck and was the only one hustling. Was going with meathead movers until they dropped the ball on the date we had asked for. After I had everything arranged in the new home they took two days to tell us they could not move us after all. I'm sad to say I did not have a great experience with the actual move. I used both the princess packers and the guys to move. I had a 850 square foot two bedroom, with one bed, a couch, two dressers, and a refrigerator and about sixty five boxes. For the princess packers, I have nothing but praise. I had three women come help me pack, and we packed the entire house in under four hours. They were fast, efficient, and labeled everything. Now, to the move. The guys showed up late, but it wasn't too bad. I had three guys come for three hours of moving. I was moving from one apartment in my small complex to another. There were some stairs. After the first hour, I started to get really worried. They were SLOW. One guy would take one box, amble out, be gone five minutes, amble back in. There was no running, no hustling. It was 80 degrees, but not blazing hot. The other apartment was a one minute walk. Tops. Finally, after the first hour, I called, concerned about how long it was taking. I tried to be really nice and see what could be done, because I didn't have money enough to cover another three hours or so. They called the guy there who was in charge. All it did was make them annoyed. They moved slightly faster (not much--no running which ... you know if they didn't advertise that they ran, I wouldn't care, but they do, so ...), but it was still a slow walk. They nearly dropped a refrigerator they were moving, which they did NOT attach to a hitch or anything for safety. I was at the old apartment, trying to sweep up, and put away trash and check for anything in cabinets. I packed what was left that we'd missed the day before (about three boxes). I agreed to take over the photos and pictures on the walls. At exactly three hours, they came in, proclaimed it all moved. No walk through. Nothing. I figured it was done, and I'll accept that as my fault. I should have insisted on a walk through. At the old apartment, they had left several boxes and other items and all my plants, some of which are heavy. Okay. At the new apartment, as I went around to inspect, they'd simply tossed boxes in whatever room was available, mostly the front room, placed book boxes on top of boxes marked fragile and stacked boxes five up. I'm short. Basically, I will now have to recruit a neighbor to help me with the boxes, because I can't get them down without simply pushing them to the floor from a pretty high place. I had to carve a space to get to the back bedrooms. My child's furniture is in the kitchen. The bathroom things are ... in the kitchen. The things that go in the closet are in the living room and the kitchen. Basically, they just tossed it all down in the front and stared shoving it backward. It was a weird, uncomfortable experience throughout. I think now that, because I live in a wealthier neighborhood, they thought I was a wealthy client. But, I'm not, so they went from taking as long as they could to not caring at all. read more

Lies upon lies. I'm sure Yelpers can read both sides of the story and figure out which is the truth and which is the lie. Sorry to disappoint you Angela, but NO suitcases were involved in the move in any way BECAUSE WE DON'T OWN ANY. So bravo, now everyone can see that not only does Meathead Movers lie about doing damage but they will even stoop as low as making up imaginary causes to make it seem that they aren't responsible. Have you no integrity at all, no shame? My conscience is clear because we are not falsely accusing anyone of anything. Here are the FACTS: 1. The crew did the damage RIGHT IN FRONT OF OUR EYES. No amount of bogus "internal investigation" is going to change what we saw. It's just like solving a game of Clue in that we saw the exact crew member do the exact damage with the exact piece of furniture. 2. We confronted the crew about the damage IMMEDIATELY, with NO time delay. The crew admitted to the damage and apologized on the spot. Meathead Movers did NOT learn about this damage days, hours, or even minutes later; everyone was staring at it as soon as it happened and they were reassuring us that they obviously did the damage so the company would make it right. 3. After the move, Meathead Movers even reached out to me several times IN WRITING to confirm the reimbursement amount for the damage they caused (we were waiting for landlord's invoice for a few weeks). We were quite impressed by their followup to this point, but when the invoice came in at over $3k was when they changed their tune completely to "we didn't do it." 4. Our bed frame, even while wrapped, is ABSOLUTELY capable of damaging the floor WHEN DRAGGED BY ONE PERSON because it is extremely heavy. The imaginary suitcases that Angela made up, on the other hand, are not. 5. Though we are in disagreement about what piece of furniture did the damage, that's not the real issue here because the reality is Meathead Movers is responsible for the damage REGARDLESS of what piece of furniture did it. Think about the story they're trying to sell...just because they've "confirmed" they didn't do it, that means the customer must have damaged the floor on their own when the crew wasn't looking? With the lies they're spewing I really hope karma catches up with these folks real soon. No one should trust their move to a company that makes up whatever story suits them and blames the customer to deny responsibility for their actions.
