We had the best experience with Meathead movers!! They loaded up a U-haul to move my son to college. We could not have been happier with the way they packed the truck. They were careful and made sure his items were secure and would not be damaged in the drive. I would use them again! They were fast, polite, and very professional! The lead guy on this job was Adam. I was so impressed with him - he was incredibly professional, competent, efficient, fast, and actually looked like a student athlete! I also got a free third mover for free because he was training, which was fabulous because I really did not want to go over the 3 hour minimum rate. Their quotes are incredibly accurate though - it actually took 3.5 hours to move a studio apartment even though they were moving fast the entire time. i used meathead yesterday to move my elderly mother across camarillo. the guys who did the move were super nice. the office was extremely helpful. the bottom line as the saying goes was the issue. they took all day and charged $1,179.62 by comparison i used Bartel Bros. in the San Diego area to move my mom from Encinitas, about 170 miles away to get her up here. they, like Meathead charged transportation time from their office and back. they had a 3 hour drive each way and the load and unload. Bartel cost was $979. Virtually $200 LESS and about 5.5 hours more driving time. someone may want to consider hiring them if they want fast efficient service, even though they have to drive 6 hours round trip. just my thought. read more

Meathead movers was by far the best moving experience I've ever had. Tyler, the quoter, came to our house and gave an honest, accurate quote. He was very upfront and I felt like I got all the information I needed. On move day Frank, Taylor and Chris showed up on time and we're very friendly. They were quick, wrapped all of our furniture well, and were very easy to work with. They DO actually jog when they're not carrying boxes! The packers and movers were all great! They worked hard, and I never felt cheated on time. However, the move coordinator made promises he could not keep. I asked to have the same people who packed do the unpacking. He said this would not be a problem. This did not happen. I asked that he stop by during the move and the packing/unpacking, he said yes and did not show up. I was out of the country on business and moving my mother to an assisted living and needed it to go smoothly. The move coordinator was terrible. I felt as if I was promised everything just to get my business. Not to mention many start time changes after the contract was signed, which caused a lot of confusion. If I should use Meathead in the future, I will never change my start times after the contract is signed and I will refuse to pay if promises are not kept. The movers and packers get 5 stars! The moving coordinator gets 1 star. read more

Moved last June, everything was as promised, on time, packed well, worked their asses off, however.... I have a platform bed, they did not bother to put the screws back in (except for the four corners). After a few months the bed started breaking apart. Only then did I find out what they had done. I would never use this company for an upcoming move. There customer service is a joke and by far the rudest people answeing the phone especially Molly. I called on Tuesday September 10th, 2013 and Molly answered the phone and I explained our move to her and said I need a move consultant to come out and give me an accurate quote. They wouldn't be able to send someone out until the following week which would of been fine but I needed someone to come out after 4PM or on a Saturday, and Molly very rudely said we don't do thst we only do estimates between 7am and 3:30PM M-F. I was shocked and Molly said I can get someone out there on a Tuesdsy or Wednesday morning but if I worked I would have to take a day off, I refused to do that then she said what about your lunch break I told her I can't do that and there's nothing else you can do. She said well then we can't help you then, I asked for Melissa and Molly got an attitude with me and I insisted she have Melissa call me immediately. I spoke to Melissa and the same thing unwilling to accomodate a customer and wanted the customer to accomodate them. That's an unwillingness and arrogance and just plain crapy customer service on their part. I told Melissa to get me the highest Manager they have there I was then transfered to the General Manager who was at home sick and explained my situation, she ended up getting me an appointment for thr 17th at 4:15PM. So it took going all the way to their GM to be accomodated. On 09/14/2013 I sent an email cancelling my appointment as I decided to hire one of their competitors who was able to come out the next day and they had the best customer service. The reason I would never hire or reccomend this joke of a company is because of the horrible customer service by Molly, she is 100% to blame for this review and for me hiring a different company. Please staw away from these guys, just read the bad reviews by real customers thst posted them and most of them the CEO/Owner responds that there is no record of them being customers. He will do the same thing with this review. The difference with me is I was a potential customer with an appointment scheduled and the owner/CEO better not say anything false about me like I've seen his comments in ither reviews. One more thing is thst these guys are always pointing out their reviews and shoving them down everyone's throat which makes it look like they are paying people to write good reviews on them. Meathead Movers (with Chasen & Ladislao) did an amazing job and were really helpful. Things went pretty smoothly the day of the move and whenever there was an issue that came up the guys were totally willing to find a solution. Issues you ask? But you gave them 4 stars? While - in my opinion the stuff that happened can be resolved and since none of it had a detrimental impact on the move and since the guys were really VERY VERY helpful, I still feel like they deserve at least 4 stars. So here are the two things I wasn't too keen on, the customer service we dealt with heading into the move and the fact that an item broke :( A break down of what happened (and really none of this is that big of a deal cause it's all fixable - hence the 4 star rating): 1) We had someone come to the house to give us an estimate and tell us what they'll be bringing since this was a new process and the guy didn't give all the info to the people in the office I guess because they didn't come with all the boxes we needed. That's even after I called the office the day before the move to confirm everything we had talked about - so that was a little annoying (I had to run out during the move to buy wardrobe boxes because they couldn't get any to us from the warehouse.) and 2) Sadly they broke the ping pong table :( It's just the net brackets but it was the 1 item we asked them to be extra careful with. The guys took responsibility for it immediately though and told me I could call the office and they'd deal with it AND that's exactly what's happening - so again, not really the end of the world as long as it's replaced. Today, I spoke with Todd over at Meatheads and he is looking into it for me right now and said he'd call me back today/tomorrow with the next step - so, again, as long as this gets resolved, I'm all smiles still. So Meathead Movers - thumbs up! Your guys are great, they have a good attitude and were really helpful in getting everything taken care of as quickly as possible. Thanks Guys! read more

So I had a bad experience with the company. During my move items were broken and that wasn't the issue. The issue became the lack of contact from the company. It took about 1 month to resolve. I seemed to have fallen through all the cracks. I was assured that this was not a standard business practice and a very rare experience. We were able to reach an agreement and i received apologies from the general manager as well as a personal call from the CEO himself. I believe the company went above and beyond to rectify the situation. I can't give them 5 stars due to my experience. But maybe your move will go better. read more

Helped a friend move, he hired 2 guys (labor only) Jorge and Brad (I think). He'd used MH 2x before and had been very happy with them; not so much this time. Move out of a 1 bedroom apt, 1/2 a truck to the new place 1/2 a truck to storage. Ended up being $800 (which didn't include the truck) I thought that was $$$$. Maybe just the area. My girlfriend just moved a 2 bedroom apt and it was less that $500. Fiasco with a desk and a bookcase; guys should have been able to figure out if they would fit into the room or not - don't think they are the most experienced of the crew. One said he doesn't play sports any more...thought that was the whole "theme" for MH. Update: I read Meathead Movers response to my post. I was actually there for the full move and helped quite a bit. Advertising states, "Our professionally trained, clean cut, employees are student-athlete movers." It doesn't say "were" or "have been." Commercial Movers beware! We didn't have time to schedule an estimator to come out. I gave exact dimensions of items, number of boxes. Basically need two guys and one truck, a few hours, show up, load up, drive, unload, simple. I got a rate of 159.00 min of 3 hours, I ok with my boss and call back, this time I get the general manager Angela, who was not very kind and very snooty when informing me she was the general manager. The rate went up within a 10-15 minute call back from 159 per hour to 169 an hour. I explain that we don't need an estimator, give all info again... she insisits. I called back and cancelled everything and explained to Angela that I don't think it is fair to the customer that the rate goes up because we are a business and within a small time frame of call back, get this Angela then tells me that the person who originally quoted me doesn't know because she does accounting....not scheduling/quoting. I said how do I know that as a customer? I cancelled everything, and will never use them again (I had used them in 2009 with no issues) I thought I would show loyalty but instead got treated third rate. I think the part that aggravated me the most was the attitude displayed by the General Manager Angela. Not cool, and customer service is for sure a zero. ** Ammended 6/16/11: I was contacted today by the owner/controller, they were concerned as any owner should be, and offered to honor the rate and provide additional discount. I appreciate the offer and will keep then in mind for future moves.** read more

I used Meathead Movers a few weeks ago for a local move and overall, I was happy with my move. I had researched a few other moving companies prior to scheduling Meathead and I found their prices to be within the mid-range of the other places - but they also provided a maximum amount which is helpful for those paranoid that a moving company will try to take advantage of you. The guys arrived on-time (actually 30 minutes early), were polite, knowledgeable, and did indeed hustle most of the time they were here. For the most part, they were careful with all the furniture that they moved - wrapping things in blankets and/or shrink-wrap. However, there were a few mishaps that I should point out which leads me to only give them 4-stars here (which is still pretty good!): 1) It took several attempts for them to apply a Yelp-purchased voucher to my bill. Eventually, I received the discount but several weeks after the move itself. 2) They did not wrap with blankets my expensive wood bedframe at all (which is surprising because they wrapped almost everything else very carefully) and as luck would have it, the frame fell to the concrete as it was leaning against their truck. If I had not been standing outside, I might not have known to check it out later which of course was all banged up and needing cosmetic repair. 3) They broke the corner of a long mirror, 3) They also did not wrap a fabric-covered "glider" chair, which ended up getting dirty from their hands, 4) They broke the hardware holding a curtain rod in one of our rooms. What I was most disappointed in is that the movers did not notify me of any damage after it occurred - I had to find it out myself only through careful inspection of everything. In addition, we had never asked them to remove our curtains so we were mystified why they would have taken it upon themselves to do that - and then not tell us when they broke it. When I called Meathead Movers after the move to provide them with my feedback, they were very apologetic and made me a fair offer to cover the damage that I had noticed. So the story had a happy ending and even though it was not perfect, overall I was very happy with their service and would consider using them again. read more

I had really high expectations of this company. KC was your estimator or whatever you want to call him, basically a "pimp" for Meathead came over to "pimp" out Meathead. He was very professional that I actually had multiple companies scheduled to come to my house but KC pimped out the company so much, my husband hired him on the spot. Yep, like that. So let's fast forward to moving day. We thought we were going to have three "Meatheads" but I get two. I thought I was going to get some "hot" guys thanks to Brandi from Real Housewives of Orange County who hooked up with a Meathead, but yes, I got two professional college boys that were too young for me. Anyway, so my budget changed, as we all know moving has unexpected expenses. So I had to prioritize my move so some furniture had to stay and some were moved. Anyway, due to lack of experience, my two boys weren't able to lift a piece of my furniture, which was super crucial because that's why I hired movers in the first place. Kind of upsetting. So lonnnnngggg story short, they couldn't move it so we contacted Meatheads "pimp" and he solved the issue and had three mainly two more experienced movers show up the next day (annoying) and that was a cluster and the scheduling was a mess, they showed up, we weren't there, so we had to reschedule. Whatever, it was annoying. And then when I was moving my furniture in my new house, I noticed my entertainment center was BROKEN. Probably by accident, but my guess is it was broken due to lack of experience in moving earthquake proof entertainment centers. So my husband and I are upset. Anyway, the pimp can no longer help us, so we spoke with Landon. To discuss the broken furniture. There were more issues that popped up due to scheduling that were super annoying and time consuming, but Meathead management seemed to take care of the issues to make sure we were happy customers. Would I hire them again? Probably. But just annoyed at certain situations. Overall, super professional kids. My Fiancee and I had such a great experience with Meathead Movers. Her family had used them a month or two before and recommended them to us. We moved out of a crowded 1100sq foot town home, with stairs into a 1 story house. Our team of 3, Andrew Grant, Mayson Pashley-Brooks, Bryan Almontes were all great. They were on time, took special care of all of our furniture, wrapped everything and check in with us constantly. We also had a good time just talking to them in general. While it was a very hot day they kept running trips in and out with only their normally scheduled break. They were very accommodating when loading in our furniture and putting it where we wanted or moving it another few inches if we wanted. Our head mover Andrew was very thorough in explaining all of our charges and what was happening for the day. We couldn't believe we did the bulk of the move in under 6 hours. While I realize that for most people the whole "we have to send someone to your house for a quote" situation is not ideal - and maybe Meathead Movers could come up with a more user-friendly option - however I work from home so I was really pleased with how quickly they were able to come to evaluate the move. The quote I received was higher than a previous quote I had received from a nation-wide provider, but I decided to go with Meathead Movers since it was a local company. Not only were they able to schedule my move quickly, but the absolute BEST part of the process was the guys they sent to help us move. Marc N. was the lead and he was just AMAZING. He not only kept the whole process moving along, he also went above and beyond to make sure that we were informed of the steps along the way. Not only did they get everything loaded quickly, but he was able to pack the truck in such a way to include all of our out-door plants. The whole team was really great - they were funny, hard-working, and super pleasant to have around. When they arrived the next day they hustled to get it all done and we arrived with no broken items, they put everything where it was supposed to go (and even made suggestions for how to store items in the garage that made way more sense than anything I could come up with) and again had great attitudes. And I don't mean this in a negative way, but this being So Cal - the whole crew spoke perfect English which made the communication process A LOT less stressful.
