YE Gurl's Noodle Nostalgia: Mecha Noodle Bar Mecha Noodle Bar - Columbus, OH July 5, 2025 ‍ Server: Olivia C It's YE Gurl, and this one hit me with a little bit of food and memory. Mecha Noodle Bar sits where White Castle once held court--the after-hours stop across from the dearly departed Mouton (RIP). So yes, this spot has history... now reborn as a hipster noodle bar where Slurping Turtle meets Wu-Tang aesthetics. Came in on a slow Saturday afternoon and sat down with Olivia C., our lovely server who was patient with the wandering first-timers and new guests. I stuck to my fitness goals and ordered water--except I ended up with Liquid Death. Yes, that canned water brand with a heavy metal font and a $5 price tag. I now know what it is. And I now know I never need it again. Meal Rundown: I ordered the Pho Tofu with added Greens ($13), while the beau chose the Vegan Curry Laksa with Tamago and extra noodles ($18.50 + $6). We also shared the General Tso Shrimp ($22). The Pho Tofu broth was solid, with your classic basil, sprouts, and lime setup, but let me say this--vegan broth means mushroom or veggie base, not chicken or beef bouillon. I'd love to see them venture further if they want to truly support plant-based eaters. But hey--consulting ain't free and this isn't that kind of Yelp review. The General Tso Shrimp was tasty, but more of an entrée teaser than a standalone dish. For $22, you get six stretched breaded shrimp with a pile of sticky rice. It ended up working better as a protein boost for my pho than as a full appetizer. Might I suggest they reframe it as a topping? It makes more sense that way. The Curry Laksa was beautiful and aromatic, but the extra noodles arrived late--visibly late since the broth only filled 2/3 of the bowl. Still, the dish was filling and satisfying, and the beau didn't reach for snacks later. That's a win. I see from previous posts that the price has changed to reflect the reviews. So kudos there. We've been here before with another couple when they first opened and had a good time. They had more options then and more baos - like shrimp and faux burger...which they DO NOT have now. Now that the buzz has mellowed, it seems like Mecha's leaning more on bar traffic and happy hour business. If you're thinking of trying it, I'd recommend hitting that happy hour window to explore a few dishes at half-price and see if it's date-night worthy for your rotation. Local flair, good energy, and room to grow.

Shiitake mushroom and pork belly baos

This evening for carry out - I grabbed some baos- steamed fluffy buns with different fillings. I got one of each: shiitake mushroom, cheeseburger, Korean fried chicken and pork belly. They weee all delicious. Next time I would get kimchi on the side as it made some of the baos soggy by the time I got home. I especially liked the pork belly and whittle mushroom baos but they were all delicious! They took less than 19 minutes to prepare and the staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back for dine-in!

The restaurant is very nice and clean. The service was also fine. I tried to the Pho because I've been looking for good pho, and it definitely disappointed. One of the recommendations is to add bone marrow oil to the pho and I would NEVER recommend it to anyone. I like bone marrow, but I could not get the flavor out of my mouth and it made me feel kind of queasy. I also thought some of the food was kinda expensive for what it was.

Trying to keep this one as honest as possible. We came for the first time to get lunch. Our food was great. The restaurant was cute and felt clean. Service, like many others mentioned was spotty. Food came out fast, but trying to get water refills or the bill after that was near impossible. Unfortunately about 8-10 hours after we ate here, my husband came down with food sickness. He hadn't eaten anything else strange in the time frame and while I can't be positive it happened here, it feels quite likely. Between our meals, the only items I didn't consume were the egg and pork in his tonkastsu ramen. As previously stated, everything tasted great. My husband loved his ramen, but it also may have been contaminated.

The restaurant is modernly designed and spacious. Our server was very friendly and shared some of his favorite dishes. We ordered all the bao buns from the menu, except for the fried chicken one since they ran out. Their Thai bubble tea was very tasty too, and they can make it an alcoholic drink as well. They have ramen and pho on the menu, and we tried both. The noodle texture was spot on, and the broth was flavorful. Don't forget to get their house-made chili oil on the side! It's not very spicy, but definitely helps add more flavor. I really like this spot! It's my second time here and everything is delicious. I can't wait to bring my friends. I highly recommend the spicy beef ramen.

Not the best parking location but one of the best asian fusion restaurant. They offer a vast menu variety of different asian cuisine. Tonkotsu ramen was very flavorful but too salty to drink as a soup alone. The pork belly was nicely charred and the marinated egg was seasoned and cooked perfectly, one of the best egg. The red chili oil dumplings is the highlight thou. It's not spicy and the dumplings is perfectly fried and stuffed fully with meat. The sauce seasoning was perfect, making me feel like adding rice to it. Thai milk tea came out beautifully layered and was what I needed after eating the ramen. It would be better without the boba as it's a bit hard and not the best. Maybe I will get it without boba next time and try it spiked.

One of my favorite foods is Ramen and Mecha didn't disappoint. While it was busy, we were still quickly seated, and the staff went above and beyond. Our food was out in a matter of minutes, and I was pleased with how the Ramen was cooked and tasted. I highly recommend this restaurant if your Ramen connoisseur like myself

This noodle bar is so cute ! Right on high street with the cutest interior, the best patio, and the best playlist (major win). Stopped by ab 2 weekends ago & loved what i ordered! The KFC buns were gone before i could take a picture.... Sorry lol. But trust that they were soo tasty. My ramen order was the spicy beef, i was in between the veggie ramen and the spicy which were both highly recommended by the bartender. The menu isn't too extensive which i lovee ! It's always overwhelming to make a decision when you're out to eat and the menu is about as long as a dictionary. Overall 4/5 ! Cute and trendy:)

My new favorite Ramen spot in Columbus! Amazing flavors, fast service, delicious drinks! The atmosphere is fun and welcoming! Our server Collette was so friendly and made our dinner experience even better! 5/5 couldn't recommend this place more!

A party of 2 for dinner. When we first walked in there weren't many people in the restaurant so we were able to choose where we sat. Absolutely love the aesthetic! The music was bumping the entire time. We shared the Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs, and I ordered the Smash Burger Bao and Kimchi Fried Rice. Everything was absolutely insane. The flavors were top tier. The waitress however, seemed to be trying to rush us along which was a semi-vibe kill. Other than that I will definitely be recommending this place to family and friends. Be back soon.

This place wasn't too bad. It's more of a fusion then authentic. Ordered the pork belly and it was really good just not enough. Also ordered the shrimp and I would say thr shrimp was over cooked so I probably wouldn't order that again. Service was good until the food got served after that the server didn't come around until it was time for the check

I got the pho with chicken and added greens.
    Eve Lily G.

First off, I love the vibe of this restaurant. If you look around you'll see images of different pop stars and their playlist is always good. I recommend going for happy hour but their price points are always good. I love the pho and bao buns and their ribs. Very fresh ingredients and good service and food is seasoned perfectly!

I don't think I've ever been to a Vietnamese restaurant with so many options! The moment I saw the menu, I told my boyfriend, "This is where we're eating today." And I'm so glad I made that decision. The moment we stepped inside, we already had a feeling we picked the right place. The old-school interior, the '70s and '80s music playing in the background, and the overall vibe just made me think, "Yeah, this place is going to be good." We ordered the gỏi đu đủ tôm thịt (green papaya salad with shrimp and pork), bánh bột lọc (tapioca dumplings), bánh mì thịt heo (grilled pork bánh mì), phở tái sườn bò (beef noodle soup with rare steak and beef ribs), and phở đặc biệt (beef pho combo). For the drink, we ordered iced vietnames coffee. The green papaya salad wasn't too fishy from the fish sauce, and I really enjoyed the subtle sweetness and how light and refreshing it tasted. The bánh bột lọc was a 10/10 for me. The dipping sauce and fried onions made it even better. It just disappeared into my mouth! I could've easily eaten more. When we ordered the bánh mì, we didn't really read the description or realize how big it would be. When it came out, we were shocked by the size! I also liked that the vegetables were served on the side, so we could add as much or as little as we wanted. It tasted amazing, and we enjoyed every bite. We actually ordered so many appetizers because we thought the pho portions were going to be small. Based on the reference photos and the price, we weren't expecting the bowls to be that big. But when the pho came out, we were shocked. The bowls were huge! We definitely underestimated the portion sizes here. One thing I noticed about the pho was that it tasted a little different from what I'm used to. The broth was much more herbal and aromatic, with a gentler taste rather than that strong, pungent hit on the tongue. It made me wonder if this is closer to what traditional Vietnamese pho is supposed to taste like. Just a heads-up, you pay at the counter when you're done eating rather than waiting for the server to bring the check. On our way out, we also grabbed a steamed rice cake to take home. Definitely try one if you see them because they're so good! I actually think they taste even better at room temperature rather than heated up. Everything we ordered came in such generous portions, especially for the price. Nothing tasted overly salty or overpowering, which I really appreciated. Everything tasted fresh, and I was genuinely impressed by the quality, portions, and value. I'm so glad we decided to try this place. With such a huge menu, there are already so many other dishes I want to come back for!

Quick and attentive service. We started with crispy dumplings (6), crispy egg rolls (2), and a scallion pancake. Bing, their crepe, wasn't available our night. My dining companions loved the pancake - for me perhaps a bit too much drizzled sauce. It was helpfully quartered when brought to the table so sharing was easy. The dumplings were indeed crispy and probably my favorite with a standard dark dipping sauce. The egg rolls were standard and perhaps a bit undersized and over fried, but a good creamy dipping sauce was a pivot away from the sweet chili sauce that usually accompanies such apps. Ramen is clearly the focus of the menu and three of us had ramen with chicken and one with pork. They spoke favorably of the broth and the combos of mushrooms, boiled egg, greens. I had the rice vermicelli with chicken that they called a salad. I was expecting the classic Vietnamese staple but this one had some adaptations, perhaps to a fusion or one might say less ethnic nod. Small things but the ample portion served in a small bowl made it hard to mix the rice noodles, lettuce, carrot, cucumber and chicken that is a common approach to the dish after drowning all the ingredients in both sweet sauce (nuoc cham), siracha and/or hoisin sauce. It only came with the nuoc cham. They brought Siracha when I asked for it, but I'm a fan of having these condiments on the table standard. Again, had the sense that the business lunch crowd that is probably the primary audience isn't likely to be as focused on the more authentic ingredients. The chicken was also not grilled and sliced but had a pleasant preparation. Just know it won't be the charred flavor that is so common. Finally, not to obsess on this one dish, but cutting the lettuce leaves more would enable easier chop sticks combos of the ingredients in single bites. Overall it worked for us. I am definitely the most focused on (my companions would say obsessed) on connection to what these dishes should be. If adaptations work well for you, Tiger+Lily likely will as well.

Not all that different from some regular jerkies. Very good. A big portion. Came with perfect sticky rice. There was a fair amount of heat in everything except the rice.
