We had a great time here on a Tuesday evening for a friends birthday! They recently opened and the space that used to be a white castle was beautifully renovated. They were able to easily accommodate a large party of eight for a birthday celebration. The food options are great here and have a wide variety of options for our vegetarian friends. Love that they have trendy drinks to go with your pho and ramen, the Sifu Lee was really good!! I've been here on two occasions and both times didn't disappoint. The first time I was with friends for happy hour and the second time I went with family that was in town. This restaurant is located on high street so street or garage parking is necessary. The location itself is beautiful and clean with high ceilings. Both times the service was great with attentive servers. I've had the red oil dumplings, KFC Bao and pork belly Bao and they were all pretty good. I think my favorite was the chili gyoza because I love spicy food and it had a lot of flavor. For entrees I've had their Pho Bo Vien and Tonkatsu ramen. They were both delicious but I think I like ramen more because it has more of a savory flavor generally. Was in Columbus and decided to give this another go Felt it was better this time around at least for the food Tried the baos (beef, chicken and pork) - they were 'ok' The poutine fries - these were nice Mala stir fry - was good Tonkotsu with extra tendons/chili and a few other dishes The tonkotsu felt huge this time and tasty The reason for only 3 stars are that's it's fairly pricey for columbus But the biggest issue was that I couldn't get to see my bill properly before paying (you get shown a screen which goes to payment within a few seconds and even doing this a few times i couldn't see it properly - also you have to tip on the spot with the screen and other than custom amount the minimum tip is 20%.. we didn't have this nonsense last time (I like to check that the 20% doesn't include the sales tax... wasn't possible to check that as wasn't shown the bill for more than a few seconds) Don't see why they can't print a bill and you tip based on seeing your bill properly Shame the food was good but I don't like that kind of practice with the bill read more

The vibe is lively and really cute inside! The wait staff at the bar was awesome - welcoming, patient, and quickly answered questions & took orders. Be prepared that their wine is from a can. Be what it will, at least they serve wine. The mushroom dumplings were really greasy and not much flavor to the filling, but the brown butter miso sauce was so good you could it with a spoon, literally.... The veg ramen was pretty good overall, but the stars of the dish were the add-ons recommended on the menu. So, throw on the tofu & avocado for sure... I'll 100% be back to order some different items - sticking with the one veg soup and a different appetizer. And some brown butter miso sauce in a large jar to go Also, northstar cafe offers pimento dip to customers dining at the bar (not tables). It'd be pretty cool to be offered edamame here. The mango lassi has a strong mango taste with a subtle taste of tea. The bubbles are also soft and chewy. Only complaint would be the huge ice in it The egg roll has a thin crust and is well stuffed with meat. It is also decently sized and I feel that it is bang for the buck. The egg roll also also comes with a watery sauce that is sour and spicy The Kai Miso Ramen has about 2 fried crabs, 2 lobster and 3 prawns. It probably also comes with 2 pork belly(?) This ramen is spicy and comes with a good portion of soup and noodles. The server is nice and friendly and even helped to wrap up our leftovers. It was a good experience overall. read more

I happened to be walking on high st and noticed that White Castle is gone and a new restaurant has replaced it. It was happy hour so I decided to check out the menu. The service was nice! He told us about the restaurant and a few menu items. The restaurant is very cute and clean inside! The first item that caught my attention was the crab Rangoon dip. I only ever get this menu item from Woodbury so I wanted to do a slight comparison. Unfortunately, I was not a fan. It was cold and it reminded me of coleslaw. (I don't like coleslaw) lol. Ordered off door dash as I am in town visiting. I saw the good reviews and was excited to try their ramen and KFC Chicken bao bun. I was craving a crisp limeade and while it's a staple at most noodle restaurants back home in WA, this was the only place I saw on DoorDash tan offered limeade. They never packaged my limeade with my order so I didn't get the one thing I was truly craving. Their KFC bao buns were absolutely terrible!!! The chicken had zero flavor and it absorbed the vinegar taste from the pickled veggie. The crease of the bao bun was incredibly soggy. The non-soggy parts lacked flavor in general. The ramen was horrible. It was incredibly salty. I like a good salty ramen too but this was saltier than the ocean. The chicken was flavorless and chewy. The egg looked expired. I was sooooo disappointed!!! I ended up trashing the whole thing and going to a different restaurant. What a shame. read more

We got the poutine, a vegan coconut curry broth dish, and beef pho. Everything was hot, delicious, and out quickly. The ambience was cool and comfortable, perfect for a rainy Saturday evening, and Colette was a great server! Our meals were pricey, but the bowl of pho was huge, so I'm excited to get two meals for the price. Plus, they're donating proceeds to the Huckleberry House right now and always have a cause that they donate 0.50 from each bowl of ramen to, so it's cool to support a community cause. The food however was on the pricier side and to be honest it was not that good. We ordered the Japanese poutine, Red oil dumplings, and I had the spicy miso. The japanese poutine could have been better, the sauce was okay but the fried were a bit undercooked, it wasn't that crispy and the inside if the fries were not great, the red oil dumplings were ok, the worst part about it is value its $13 for 4 dumplings and I had really high expectations but was let down. Spicy miso had pretty good broth but the hot oil didn't really add much it was not spicy at all and the marinated egg was too salty same as the meat that came with the spicy miso. It just tasted like soy sauce. Overall the atmosphere was great but the food doesn't really live up to the same vibe as the atmosphere. read more

It was fine. We had a double date and wanted to try something different. Mecha had good reviews and it was something different so we gave it a try. The restaurant was laid out nice there was plenty of seats, but the seat were stools with no backs. I felt like I I was sitting at a kids table and after a while my butt hurt from the stole. We ordered a few appetizers for the table (crab ragoon, ribs, pot stickers and fried rice) they were all great, especially the ribs. We all ordered separate dishes and that was good too. The food was good, but the service wasn't. What should have been a 2 hour meal (at the most) turned into a 4hr meal. It was only because our server would leave and not come back for 30mins. We had drinks that needed refilled, dishes that needed to be taken and even simple things like bringing out the food took forever. Most restaurants bring everyone's food all at once and this one didn't. We had to remind them what we ordered and what we were missing. I'm sure if we wouldn't have said something then we would have been charged for it and never gotten the food. Idk if we'll go back. I don't think I'd recommend it either. Try it if you want but make sure you've got plenty of time if you go. read more

Mecha is truly a pretty good place. I've been there twice and I would come back! The food is great and everyone is friendly. It's mainly the atmosphere and effects that concern me. Some of the workers were clearly smokers. Their teeth were obviously stained and they had a strong weed smell. Some of the walls, seats, and even food also had some weird smells. The architecture and design of the interior was stunning but these weird smells took away from that. Another thing is, I recommend sitting on a booth seat, because the metal stools are very uncomfortable for people with back problems. If you want good food, but aren't bothered by worker sanitation, then definitely go here. The Ramen is amazing, but if you don't want weird smells, and you definitely don't nicotine induced vibes, then don't go here. read more

I ordered takeout and I was very pleased with my experience. I arrived early so the server suggested I take a seat at the bar and gave me some water while I waited for my order. My food was ready at the original time promised. Already off to a good start with service. The food itself was pretty good, too. Contrary to other reviews, I liked the pork belly and KFC buns. They weren't the best I've had, but they were tasty. I also liked the kimchi fried rice. It was a unique fusion dish. What I liked most is that they label allergens on their menu items. I wish all restaurants would do this. They also have a feature through online ordering where you can indicate if you have any food allergies. I thought that was awesome. Mecha is a fairly new ramen spot that opened up. It used to be a White Castle and I love what they've done with the place. It's got a great design and layout to the place. I love how they are also playing anime on their TVs. Their service is great too. Very receptive and thoughtful staff. The food is great. The noodles taste so fresh and light, as if they were hand woven in the back. The chicken is also so fresh tasting. The bao buns are the best I've ever had. So light and fluffy, yet so much flavor with the amounts of sauce and meat they use. They even have specific re-heating instructions on their to-go boxes on how to properly re-heat the ramen.
