Went to visit Mecha on their opening night. The hostess had a spin wheel set up at the front where diners could win free prizes/food. We won an order of any choice of their steamed baos. We chose the KFC which came with two bao. Very delicious! The herbed edamame was well seasoned and came out fresh and very hot. I ordered a side of chili oil for my Tonkotsu ramen which added more flavor to the broth. Overall, had a nice meal and it's very nice to now have a ramen place close by! read more

I used to live and work in southwestern Connecticut so I used to go to Mecha in Stamford and Norwalk pretty frequently. I'm so happy they have a spot in Washington DC now!! The food was amazing. Especially recommend the saigon egg rolls, the steamed pork belly buns, and the Pho Sizzle. The Pho Sizzle was generously-sized. I had the short ribs as an add-on topping, and it was so good!! Always delicious. Vivica, the GM, is a delight and the company is fortunate to have her. Since the beginning she and staff make certain all is as marvelous as it can be. Large community table at front to accommodate large groups. Al fresco tables available. For takeaway they pack it correctly so one doesn't arrive at destination with limp noodles. A fantastic spot for great food, service, and ambiance. If you like a little bit of spicy but can't take the full heat, ask for the ramen noodles in the soup base with the spicy sauce on the side. That way, you can get it as spicy as you can take it. This place is great from start to finish. The host is always super friendly and the servers that I've had have always been helpful. The Sifu Lee is so good and their lil embossed ice cubes are super cute. The edamame, KFC buns, and tonkatsu were all great. Pho was also very good. Party of two got two apps and a bowl of chicken ramen... strangest food ever eaten. Chicken ramen was essentially boiled chicken water. Entire cup of chili oil could not fix. My family had an amazing meal here. Probably the best Vietnamese food I've ever had! Every dish we ordered was full of flavor ... the red oil dumplings, buddha banh mi, and general tso's shrimp were particular favorites. My husband loved the pho bo vien, and the portion was huge! Wow, this was an unbelievable Noodle bar. I love the look and the design of the place. We had never been anywhere like this. We ordered some Noodles with chicken and eggrolls, and they were Fire. I may be only had one drink, I wasn't feeling like being plastered. But the food is delicious, and the people here are far out nice too. Yes yes yes!!!!! This place was amazing! Keondré (keyondré? Sorry don't know how to spell it) was our waiter and he was absolutely amazing! The manager of the store even came over and talked to us herself! Food came out in less than 10 minutes and they were constantly checking back in with us and even packaged our food to go! Our food was phenomenal. I've been here about four times and it just never disappoints. I am completely in love with their happy hr menu. It has something for everyone. Same thing with their regular menu, I've always had a split decision about Pho or Ramen- look no more it's all inclusive here! Everything is amazing. Their Pho King is absolutely mouth watering with lots of bone marrow on a sliced bone directly in your soup!! I also love their egg rolls, they provide the lettuce and the mint to wrap them with - simply perfection. I don't even want to start on one of their appetizers that you must try with pork belly. Just an amazing match of flavor perfectly created. The service is always amazing, you can tell they carefully pick their staff Billy however is just amazing and goes above and beyond! For $45 per person, the all-you-can-eat experience feels like a really solid deal considering how many protein options and side dishes you get. They start you off with a variety of banchan (side dishes), including a salad with this super tasty dressing that had the perfect little spicy kick. For the BBQ, we kicked things off with the spicy bulgogi and butter garlic shrimp, while the others tried the pork belly (I don't eat pork). Later we ordered the steak, spicy brisket, and grilled squid, which were all delicious. The spicy brisket especially was a standout for me. The guys also ordered two rounds of fried dumplings that looked amazing, but since they contain pork, I had to sit those out. I'd love to see Chadol add a veggie dumpling option to the menu! As for the sides, the kimchi and cold glass noodles were both hits at our table, and of course we all added white rice. The "mashed potatoes" though? Definitely more like potato salad and unfortunately very bland. On the other hand, the cheese corn costs extra but is 1000% worth adding. For drinks, the guys enjoyed the Woody Old Fashioned while I had a mezcal margarita-style cocktail that was smoky and refreshing. We also ordered one of the chicken options but never received it and eventually just gave up on it. One of the coolest parts of the experience is the ordering system. Most meats are ordered directly from a machine at your table, and the food comes out quickly on this conveyor belt-style setup which was honestly so fun. Drinks and side dishes are ordered through the servers. The atmosphere was lively and energetic without feeling overwhelming. The restaurant is actually much larger inside than I expected, with a modern setup that works well for smaller groups. That said, I didn't really notice tables for larger parties, so I'm not sure how they accommodate groups bigger than 6 people. Service started off a little rough because our server wasn't very attentive, but after I called it out, he definitely stepped it up and things improved. Overall, Chadol was a really good experience and absolutely worth the price. The 1.5-hour seating limit makes sense too, both to keep things moving and give others a chance to enjoy the experience. There was urine on the floor, a strong foul odor, and the surface was slippery. For a speakeasy positioning itself as upscale, this was a major miss. The space is very small and service was just okay. Overall, the concept has potential, but the execution did not meet expectations. I will not be returning.

Having sampled numerous ramen spots in DC, I typically rank my favorites, and Mecha's ramen quickly secured a spot in my top three. The broth was incredibly flavorful, and the pork belly had a delightful sweetness that perfectly balanced the dish. I also tried the wings, which feature a unique spice that creates a tingling sensation in the mouth. A heads-up from the waiter about this would have been appreciated, as it was quite surprising. Despite the unusual sensation, the wings were delicious, and I would definitely consider having them again. The menu is impressively diverse, offering both pho and ramen. However, I found the happy hour drink menu somewhat lacking, though their main menu boasts better options. I removed one star because I think they can do a lot better on the happy hour menu. The brand-new Mecha Noodle Bar in DC did not disappoint. My boyfriend and I walked in on a Friday evening without a reservation and were seated right away. The service was attentive, our waiter offered great recommendations, and the ambiance was fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised to be seated facing a TV screen playing Dragon Ball Z! The drink menu was impressive with many tempting options, but I chose a spiked bubble tea, which was a perfect 10/10. As for the food, I ordered the red chili dumplings, the KFC bao buns, and their most deluxe pho option, the Pho Bo. The dumplings, recommended by our waitress, were delicious and filling. The KFC bao featured the most delicious crispy chicken, and the Pho Bo had excellent flavor, plenty of meat, and a giant piece of bone marrow, which I saved for last--it was absolutely heavenly.
