This meant that we weren't able to add more dishes, as what we had ordered wasn't enough for all of us to feel completely full. The biggest disappointment is that this establishment passes on a 5% fee to help pay for their staff's benefits. They stay it's optional and they can take it off but it's very distasteful. The owner should reconsider this and build this expense into the pricing of their menu. Otherwise their wait staff is going to feel slighted when customers leave less tip because of this additional fee. Overall, this is a solid place, but the experience was just average considering all aspects, and therefore the three star rating.

The hostess refused, so we stepped aside. 2 minutes later our 3rd friend arrived. I asked the group behind us if they minded us getting back in line. They laughed and said it was no problem because they had just had their 3rd person arrive as well. When I got back in line, the hostess deliberately skipped over me and called the next group instead. After seating them, I stopped her and asked for a table for 3. She asked if it would "really" be just 3. At that point I honestly didn't know. Our 4th friend was driving from Everett and had texted that she was stuck in standstill traffic. I said yes, seat the 3 of us. The hostess told us to wait while she seated yet another group, taking the last indoor table. We were then placed outside on a hot day. Despite how the evening started, I did exactly what I'd said I would. We ordered dinner for the entire group, including 2 bottles of wine to avoid inconveniencing them with making drinks. Then, incredibly, the hostess came back to our table and removed the 4th chair to make absolutely sure our last friend couldn't join us if she arrived. The cod was just okay, and the desserts were average. We spent ~$500 for the meal. People don't spend this kind of money just for the food. The price reflects the entire experience, and that's where this restaurant failed. The service felt cold, impersonal, and overly focused on rules instead of hospitality. Rather than making guests feel welcome, the hostess made us feel like a problem she had to manage. I've had warmer, friendlier service at fast food restaurants. I won't be returning, and I took the time to write this review because no meal, especially one marking such a meaningful reunion, should be overshadowed by such an unnecessarily unpleasant welcome.

The portions were also quite small, and the prices felt very high for what you get. The service was just okay overall. Maybe they are still new and working things out, but for the price and portion size it just didn't feel worth it. Our unique combination of Lamb and beef Gyro cone is mixed to balance the flavor and fat content. It slow-cooks early morning prior to opening the doors because our chef insists on keeping the meat as safe from contamination as possible. "heavy foot-print and open doors". The gyro cone oven can be seen on the left side of the kitchen right behind the fridge. Our daily fresh batch of Spanakopitas is made in-house. we make only 20 a day as this is the sales average. Terrible service in omitting the included gratuity for a party of 5 and then ignoring my refund…read morerequest. I called Itto's 7 times and emailed them once to no reply. Below is my request. The purpose of this email is to request a partial refund of $40 for my friend and I each on our visit on May 23rd, 2026. The main reason for this request is that we did not know about the included gratuity in our bill. It was hard to notice this and consequently, after splitting the bill, my friend and I tipped an additional $40 each. First of all, imposing a mandatory gratuity is not industry standard. Just to make sure it's not me and it's you, I called six other restaurants nearby Itto's Tapas: Due Cucina, KinD, Pegasus, Lady Jaye, and Matador in West Seattle. None of them add a mandatory gratuity regardless of party size. However, when I called Shadowland they informed me they do add a gratuity for parties with 6 guests or more. We had only 5 guests and our receipt includes a line item for "large party." Five guests is not a large party and only requires one server. This demonstrates Itto is the only restaurant imposing a mandatory gratuity for groups of 5 in the area. We did not see this line item at the time and did not expect to have to audit the receipt for a practice that is not industry standard nor were we a large party. Furthermore Itto's own website describes itself as "softly lit" making it hard to see the receipt. Also, we generously ordered many items from your menu making it even harder to see the "large party" scam line on a receipt with so many words on it. Finally, we were socializing and listening to each other's stories and not reviewing the bill with a fine tooth comb. Next, your server lacked the proper manners to inform us of the included gratuity nor did she thank us for the 20% we already paid for. She was not a mute and capable of using her voice to inform me that Itto does not accept the Discover credit card I originally tried to pay with and that Itto only accepts Visa and Mastercard. Therefore it's reasonable to conclude she was purposely omitting to tell us that the gratuity was already paid for when she returned with the second receipt. Next, we thanked our server several times when she took our order, brought our food and drinks, and when she refilled our water. It would behoove your staff to be as thankful as the guests they are serving. Saying "thank you for the 20% tip you already paid me" would be the right and polite thing to do. It's shameful and poor manners to omit gratitude for a gratuity paid. Minimum wage in Seattle is $21.30 and our included gratuity was $60.30, almost triple that. That is more than enough for a job that does not require an advanced degree and the student loans that come along with one. Instead, our opportunistic server with poor manners collected an additional $80 for a total gratuity of $140.30 for about one hour of work. Given a subtotal of $301.50, that amounts to 47%. Do you ever tip that much when you go out to eat? No, that is an absurd amount. The service did not amount to that. I've been to a restaurant where the silverware is changed and the servers scoop the crumbs from the white linen tablecloth before every course. We did not get this kind of 5 star service at all. Instead we were taken advantage of. Please return the $40 to my card and to the card that my friend used to pay the bill at your restaurant on Saturday night. It was a hot day and we wanted a substantial meal before leaving the next morning for an early…read moremorning flight (8/25/25). We decided to try out Shawarma Prince in Ballard. Nice counter staff. They could use a fan or AC on such a hot day working at the grill and fryer. I opted for a lamb & beef gyro...wow was this generously prepared with tasty meat, fresh vegies, sauce, spices, encased in pita bread. The Homie had a huge order of gyros fries. So huge that he was not able to finish it. There's onsite seating, but decided to eat al fresco under an umbrella, which was pleasant. Thanks to Peter for putting this on my Yelp radar screen.

After visiting…read moreShawarma King and Shawarma Man during the past month, we now have Shawarma Prince (I'm sensing a theme in the names). Price wise, the Prince is a little higher but it's definitely worth a stop. You actually can choose between a shawarma sandwich in a pita or saj (thin, unleavened wrap) and definitely spend a couple of bucks more for the saj. Compared to other places, I would say the chicken shawarma has less veggies, including the pickled ones, so for those who do not like pickled stuff, this would be a good version to try. The sandwich is served with a copious amount of the garlic sauce, which was nice but probably a calorie bomb:). Nice, friendly service with limited seating (3.5 tables indoors with a couple outdoors) and a small parking lot.
