We really wanted this to to be a great Hotel. The location is good, the price is "ok" and the reviews were mostly positive. We typically stay at a newer Marriott property close to the U-District, but were forced to branch out when that Hotel was sold out. The Hotel is pretty rundown and the rooms are remarkably small. The Wi/Fi (although free) is too slow to stream any video, the parking is cheaper than downtown Hotel parking @ $18 per day + door dings. When the spot says "Compact" heed their warning. A more accurate label would be "so small you will climb through your sunroof". Although they offer good coffee in the room, the coffee pot doesn't make coffee. We must have received their special upgraded coffee machine that just noisily percolates while producing no fluid. Good news, the room had a wonderful aroma of coffee. When I called the front desk to request a late check-out, the clerk was a special kind of helpful and said, "latest is 1:00pm" and promptly hung up the phone. She was so efficient in her communication style. On the high notes: The location is very good. But, then again, you can pitch a tent in a great spot and it's still a tent. read more

We came from Portlad to Seattle to spend the weekend and stumbled upon this gem. It was Memorial day weekend so everything was sold out or incredibly expensive so when we found this hotel we were surprised at how reasonable the price per night was compared to other properties. We arrived at 10am (check in is at 4pm) and were offered parking in rear secured garage (about $21 per night) so we parked and walked around for a while then returned at 2pm. The room was ready and they allowed us to check in early which was very nice. The room was small but very clean, comfortable and well decorated. There is a fridge, microwave, coffee pot and hot water kettle in the room with complementary teas and coffee as well as all the typical toiletriesyou find in a hotel room. The staff was very friendly and courteous. This hotel is also in walking distance of lots and lots of great stuff to do so that was another plus. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. read more

Ahh I think this place is 4 star, close to 5 stars. I really liked the hotel. First off, super affordable and clean. Not the fanciest hotel but for the price, more than good enough. I stayed here in February of 2015 during a trip from Los Angeles. Next, as they say in real estate, location, location, location! It is so close to the Seattle Center (space needle, chihuly, EMT), and key arena. You can easily walk--and save on those taxi or rent a car costs. At a great location, friendly staff, free wifi, and good price. I would definitely recommend this place. Fully admit the rooms can be a little old but not than ok for the price. TIP: Go upstairs to the roof! The staff will mention it but a GREAT view of downtown seattle available at the top of the hotel (see photo). read more

The room comes with a small kitchenette and a MASSIVE bar ledge that can firmly hold two rocks glasses and nothing more. The kitchenette features a sink and a TABLETOP microwave that looks like it had been uppercutted into the bottom of the cabinet then drilled in place. This beautifully displays the galvanized metal underside of the microwave complete with dusty ventilation grate, dangling cord and the feet with non-skid pads. Really puttin' those to good use. If I didn't know better I would say this master craftsmanship was done by Bob Vila himself. The miniature refrigerator is held at a frigid 57 degrees fahrenheit, so if you're one of those weirdos that prefers to drink cold water or a germaphobe that tries to prevent your food from rotting into a cesspool of bacterial compost you will have to manually adjust the temperature. If you plan on eating food using only your face -- you are all set, but if you like plates and silverware you'll have to ask for them as the cabinets are for display rather than storing plates and silverware.. The glassware must have been some paradoxical joke since it smelled like windex, but was riddled with calcium deposits and had collected more unique fingerprints on it than Madonna. The rooms are overall antiquated, and by antiquated I mean ugly. The carpet looks like it was repurposed from the arcade room in a movie theater. The closet has a curtain instead of a door and is held up by a glorified shower curtain rod. The chair appears to have been borrowed from the lobby at a mausoleum. The light bulbs in my room are a hodge-podge variety of standard lighting and natural lighting that blend together to give a strange greenish hue to the framed pictures in the room -- both of which appear to have been the printed design on the side of a box of kleenex from the 90's. The bed sheets have been tucked under the corners of the mattress in a way that has permanently turned the bed into a concave bowl rendering the bed uncomfortable from any angle. The pillows are about 9 inches tall when laying flat and feel like they're made of some type of tactical foam that, over the duration of the night, will cause your neck to bend so far that you can lick your own sternum, which would be impressive if you sleep your stomach. The thermostat dial reads 55 degrees Fahrenheit when, in fact, my room is a constant 85 degrees, and they took the Amish route with air conditioning - opening the window. The bathroom was probably the most functional part of the room. During my three week stay I was given one roll of toilet paper, which was not restocked until I went down to the front desk and acquired more. It was like a treasure hunt, but instead of finding treasure I was given the privilege of wiping myself clean of my own feces. The shower head is not centered in the shower and has a miserable directional range, so hopefully you're okay with being pelted in the side of the face with intermittently sputtering water. To make shower-time even more fun you can utilize a heavily soiled non-slip mat for the bottom of your shower. If you are so inclined to acquire plantar warts or shuffle around in the sedimentary waste that washed out of some strangers arm pits and became permanently encrusted in the discolored rubber mat you can have the time of your life with that. The light switch in the bathroom is on the wrong side of the door. It's frustrating. Another practical joke they play on you involves house keeping. Upon arrival you will be asked which day you would like to have the house keeper clean your room. They are quite literal when they say 'day' because in three week duration the house keeper only came once -- on the wrong day. Epic lols guys. Good job. If you want free wi-fi you can either go to McDonald's or get bent, because this place treats wi-fi like Mad-Max treated gasoline. The breakfast menu reminds me of the Cheesecake Factory's massive menu, except the exact opposite. The Mediterranean Inn offers you nothing. Not even a genetically modified banana. I would highly suggest the Homewood Suites a few blocks away. They are fantastic. read more

Hotels around downtown Seattle are pricey but we were able to get a good deal on Orbitz for Mediterranean Inn! The hotel staff was very professional and we enjoyed our stay. The staff graciously held onto our luggage for us before check-in and after check-out. The check-in and check-out process was a breeze. There is iced water and spa water available in the lobby. I was extremely pleased with our room. We didn't pay for fancy and didn't expect fancy but the room was large, the bed comfortable, and most importantly--the place was super clean. The bathroom seemed newly renovated and we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious it was (since a lot of hotel bathrooms tend to be tiny these days...). Our window faced the parking lot/streets but the room had a safe, an iron and ironing board, microwave, coffee maker, and a sink. We only stayed one night and was out for most of the day so we didn't need wi-fi (from the other reviews, it seems you have to pay for that). The only things we wish were different are 1) an earlier check-in time (check-in is at 4 PM) and 2) the hallway walls were thicker so you don't hear hallway conversations in the morning. All in all, we had a great stay. Mediterranean Inn is only a few blocks away from the Space Needle and the monorail that takes you to downtown Seattle. There is a Starbucks and other food places nearby so the location's fantastic! read more

Searching for Seattle city centre hotels on Expedia proved a heart-sinking experience for their price, especially with exorbitant parking charges as well. Being a single traveller, expensive plush hotels rooms were an unnecessary luxury. The Mediterranean Inn promised to be a cheaper alternative still within easy reach of downtown. I was drawn to a promised great rooftop view. Following my internet driving instructions through the hustle and honking of the middle of town, it was nice to arrive in the quieter Queen Anne district. The distinctive yellow hotel is immediately obvious and I parked in the 'do not leave for more than 5 minutes' kerbside and dashed in to check in and get access to the parking garage - $15 a day parking charge. Perhaps, a dedicated area for cars to pull into would have been nice and alleviated my fear of getting a ticket while checking in. Access to the underground car park is by keycard. Be careful and go slow as you drive into the garage or you will scrape the bottom of your car. The fit for some of the parking spaces was quite snug and I was glad to be driving a compact car! The rooms were absolutely fine - clean, reasonable size, comfortable bed as well as a mini fridge and microwave. There was a ceiling fan to compensate for lack of AC - fine for my trip in Sep but some reporters have said it's too warm in the summer months. It was nice to have some complimentary bottles of water in the fridge as well as popcorn for the microwave! I had a view of the Space Needle from my window. The view from the roof was as great as promised, especially at dusk when the lights of city twinkle on. You can see the nearby Space Needle, the taller buildings of downtown as well as Puget Sound. There was also a Starbucks on the 1st floor and an exercise room. There were 2 free computers available for general use (no chairs) in the lobby as well as a business centre. There are a lot of great amenities within a few blocks of the hotel. The western edge of the Seattle Center complex is a block away, providing easy access to the Space Needle, Sci Fi museum, Experience Music project, Pacific Science Center and the monorail to downtown Seattle. There are several restaurants, a Safeway and a cinema within 2 blocks of the hotel. A walk up the hill along Queen Anne Ave brings you to another cluster of restaurants. Bus connections zip you downtown but it's only a 20-25 minute walk away. I found the Mediterranean Inn to prove a good base to explore Seattle city centre. read more

It was a decent price to stay here. I think it was nicer than I expected, but I have very low expectations. There wasn't an air conditioner, but I don't think many hotels in the area have them. Crack the window and it gets cold in no time. On the down side, the tiny, full bed room that we shared had only one window and it faced the inside of the building like a courtyard. I thought that would cause problems with light or noise from other guests, but really all it did was stop me from my favorite travelling pastime: standing naked in a hotel window trying to cause a traffic jam. Because of the ill-placed window we spent a lot of time on the roof deck overlooking the city and the water which I really liked. It gets chilly up there so bring a sweatshirt. And a bottle of wine because it can get romantic, quick. Parking is an unexpected extra $15 a day. Their secured garage goes so far down I was almost certain that I would start to see stalagmites. The elevators take forever. I think one of them was actually inactive while we stayed here. I never used the gym, but there are free water bottles and fruit in there, so be sure to grab one before a day of walking. My girlfriend and I walked to the space needle from here and it wasn't an overwhelming walk. Maybe if we were old we would have complained that our dogs hurt, but we are young and that wasn't a problem, however my girlfriend did get pooped on by a bird while walking down to Pike Place Market. I've been meaning to write this review since late December, when I stayed here for a night. My partner and I stayed here while on a cross country road trip in which we were moving to Vancouver, BC. We just wanted a nice, comfortable, quiet, place to rest our heads for the night. Unfortunately, this isn't what we got. I made the rookie mistake of getting a good deal on orbitz (or maybe it was travelocity) and not considering that parking and wifi were not included. I was a little shocked when the girl at the front desk asked if we wanted to buy wifi access in our room. Come on people. It is 2014 and you are charging for wifi! The parking was also an additional $15 or so--- keep that in mind when you are comparing prices. There is not a free breakfast, either. Now, I would have given this hotel four stars probably, if it weren't for having close to the worst night of sleep in my life. The people in the room next to us were in some sort of domestic violence altercation for about 3 hours between 1 and 4 am. I had to phone the front desk at least twice. The front desk person did come knock on their door, but the drunken screaming, crying, and throwing of things continued. Our sleep was completely ruined, plus it was kind of terrifying. I think the hotel should have called the police immediately, but they did not. The front desk people were probably scared too! The next morning while checking out, they asked how our stay was and I said our sleep was ruined and why. They apologized, but did not offer us any sort of token of apology. I know it wasn't necessarily the hotel's fault that there were loud drunk people being violent next door to us, but if I cared about having repeat customers and meeting peoples' expectations of a good hotel experience I might have tossed us a gift certificate for a future stay, or something other than just saying "oh, that's too bad." Bottom line, the place seems nice in many ways, but watch out for hidden prices and know that you might be kept up all night by other guests. read more

The bathroom was as well, and I appreciated the bathtub, mini kitchen, and refreshing "spa" water provided downstairs. A solid three star experience. Stayed in room 306 on New Years Eve, and didn't run into any major issues. Booked online in advance so got the room for a good price. Didn't like the fact you had to go to the lobby to get ice, but with a large fridge to keep the beverages cold, I only had to make the one trip. My room had A/C, but the bed was TINY. A very tight, and frankly uncomfortable squeeze for two adults. Overall however, the Mediterranean Inn gave us good value for our money, and if my usual hotels were booked, I'd consider another stay here. read more

We stayed there last September (2009) & I got bug bites the size of half a baseball and the front desk just shrugged it off. I had to demand I be moved to another room on another floor. I'm pretty sure they were bed bugs. The spectacular view of the bay and space needle from the roof doesn't make up for large painful bug bites. Neither does the starbucks on the lobby. read more

Parents are staying here for the weekend, and I went to visit them to get them settled. The lobby is really nice, and the concierge was very friendly, even at 11:00 PM! She gave us advice for good eats and a grocery store in the area. There's a Safeway right around the corner that's open until 1 AM, and a Metropolitan Market (a specialty food store, a little more eccentric than your typical supermarket) within two blocks, and it's open 24 hours a day. You're very close to the Seattle Center, in which lies the great Space Needle. The room was small, but cozy. The two bottles of water and the popcorn is a nice touch. Very nice bathroom! The clientele seems to be a younger, 20-something crowd. I saw a lot of people walking around the halls who were around my age. I recommend this place for people who want to be removed from the hustle and bustle of downtown Seattle, but want to be within a mile of the action. Belltown is maybe a 15 minute walk away, and downtown is 25 minutes or so. Parking is $15 a night in a garage. Highly recommended if you're bringing a car, because parking is rather scarce and annoying to pay the meter every couple hours. $15 is pretty reasonable for the area, I'd say. read more

I like this place a lot. So let me break down the ins and outs, the good and the bad, and how ultimately it's a highly rated joint. First things first, the rooftop. Man, when it wasn't raining it was beautiful to sit up there and look out onto the water and the Space Needle. A definite must when there. Next, I like the neighborhood. Good public transpo, fun vibe, great food and coffee, it was a great intro to Seattle. Finally, they handle stuff. We had a little problem arise on our stay, and not only was the front desk guy incredibly nice, our follow up conversations with management showed they took our concerns seriously and went out of their way to resolve the situation. So a great view, a fun neighborhood, and customer service when it counts- I couldn't have asked for more in my visit to Seattle! read more

We travel to Seattle often for my 4 year old's cardiology appointments and have stayed in many hotels in many areas over the last 4 years. We always stay in decent places (3 star or better) because his health really requires it to be clean, that we be able to maintain a comfortable consistent temperature (summer and winter) and his medications require refrigeration. Of all the places we have ever stayed this is the best overall. The total package. I have zero complaints... I did however think about writing a bad review just to make sure people didn't start staying there too much and making it so we couldn't get a room . The crew are the nice, and some of the most accommodating staff we have met. They never hesitate to go out of their way. They are helpful with suggestions or recommendations and 9 times out of 10 at least one of them asks how our appointments went. You can walk to the space needle, key arena, the children's museum or our favorite the pacific science center in about 5 minutes. That's with two kids and a baby in tow, you might be faster. The surrounding blocks has some jewels for eateries ( the pizza place on the corner and the Thai place on the street are wonderful). The rooftop has a great view. The rooms spacious and are ALWAYS clean. I mean always. We've stayed here more then 10 times and never once found a refrigerator that didn't work, a dirty towel or something left undone. Seriously, my son is in heart failure and has a history of respitory failure. I can't tell you how many times at 3-4 star hotels we have come across cigarette butts and broken refrigerators. Never here, again, kudos to the staff. The garage does have some pretty compact spots. I grew up in Los Angeles and I would just go ahead and say welcome to the big city. Also having stayed in many hotels in Seattle in the downtown area that is just how it is. You do have to take it slow going in and out because of the incline, but the staff will remind you of that and if you can't see that coming I don't know what to tell you. In either of those cases you should probably not be driving in the big city. Fortunately if you stay here you don't really need to. That's just my two cents worth. If you have kids bring some DVDs they even have DVD players in the rooms (or grab a red box flick). They even leave you popcorn. The last thing I'll say is this... In my sons four, almost 5 years of life he's been through some pretty unimaginable things. For the most part he takes them like a champ but he definitely has some PTSD around heart surgeries hospitals and medical procedures. He knows when we go to Seattle we will be going to the doctor, yet this last time when we went into the room, he took off his shoes and said, "Ahhh, we're home." For that, I can't thank y'all enough. The only possible negative or neutral thing I could ever say is that I wish they had some sort of rewards program that you earn free stays, discounts etc for repeat stays, which could be in place with me not knowing about it. Star 1: Freakin' awesome location. RIGHT next to the Seattle Center, steps away from Bumbershoot, the festival over Labor Day weekend every year. This is probably the best deal for proximity to the festival. Oh, and you don't hear a PEEP from the outdoor concerts, which is quite shocking. You DO hear the vacuum start from housekeeping around 9 a.m. though. Star 2: Freakin' awesome location in terms of great restaurant options (from dirty old Dick's across the street to fancy Thai restaurant Racha Noodles on the corner to a delicious greasy late-night Cafe Mecca), grocery store (nice Safeway), record shops (Easy Street Records), bus lines, taxis, bars. Star 3: Friendly staff. Maybe a little too comfortable, since one dude recommended a bar based on the availability of single guys. Hmmm. But a very helpful and willing concierge, gave us info on the water taxi and how to get around. Star 4: UNBELIEVABLE ROOFTOP VIEW!!!!! It really is spectacular, the water next to the city. The Physics, a local rap group, do this song called "City Lights," and after a drunken night on the town, climbing up the stairs and freezing our asses off on the roof, seeing the amazing Seattle skyline and the water at night, you really understand that song and why people brave the 9 winter months for the 3 spectacular summer months in this city. One missing star: The blankets and sheets just barely cover the bed. That means they are too small. And for a couple whose averaged height is about 6 feet, it can get ridiculous. And the room was pretty baren, and had a VHS set while the hotel did not have a VHS library. But they do have free Internet in the lobby so don't pay the $5 to get it in your room. OH, and don't worry that there's no AC because there's a great ceiling fan right above the bed. Cost: $149/night (and for some reason we got a free upgrade to a Queen-sized bed). We booked a flight + hotel deal on Expedia, and that's the breakdown after flight cost deduction. read more

This was a great find, very reasonable price, walking distance to our restaurant & show, as well as Seattle center. Clean, comfortable, and the lobby was delightfully appointed. Friendly service, convenient parking. The roof patio looks delightful, though during our stay it was cold & rainy, not conducive with sitting outdoors. I would have gone 5 stars but for one pet peeve, "hidden" fees. On our final bill we had two suspicious items added: "Energy/Utility Surcharge" and "Legislated Employee Benefit". Not a lot of money (about $6) but they look like unmandated pass-throughs, like we're being punished for kooky city fees. I've not seen them on other hotel bills. The "Seattle Tourism Tax" looked suspicious also (separate from "Hotel Tax" and sales tax). We'll go back. Even though we could easily drive home to SnoCo after an evening out, sometimes it's nice to park the car for the evening and have a nightcap after the show. read more

I love this place! Just left after a 4 day stay. The rooms are nice, the location is amazing and the staff are so awesome! The front desk staff was always so helpful and made sure to ask how we were doing! One night, we came back with a bottle of wine and one of the desk women noticed and said, 'did you need an opener and how about a couple of wine glasses? Also, take this up to rooftop for a nice view of Seattle!' I was pretty impressed. Also, we forgot to put the 'do not disturb' sign on the door and the maid even folded our clothes and put them on top of our bags. They have a free gym as well and washing machines! I highly recommend this place. It's a nice home away from home. read more

Enjoyed my stay here this past weekend, and as others have noted the location (for the price) really can't be beat. Located just next to Seattle Center and within a short bus ride (or brisk walk) to Pike Place Market. Rooms were a bit smallish but clean nonetheless. Service was good, though room cleaning service would come knocking around 8:30am some mornings, really?. Free bottled water, a Starbucks literally connected to the hotel, heck even a free umbrella rental for those rain inspired touristy moments. As others have noted, you can easily get by with not having a car here as there is plenty of public transportation nearby. read more

My boyfriend and I had been counting down the days before our Seattle trip. Every interaction we had prior to our stay with the staff was very pleasant. We got a confirmation directly from the hotel upon request (3rd party booking). We later called to upgrade to a bigger bed type. The agent quickly upgraded us and blocked on our room on the top floor, with what I think was the best room of its type. I then call back again wanting to set up a surprise in the room for my boyfriend. Patrick S. was a rock star! He threw up alerts all over my reservation making sure that the surprise wouldn't be revealed at check in. Upon on arrival, we pre-checked in with Patrick R. and advised us the room wasn't ready as we had arrived hours before their guaranteed check in time (4pm). Patrick took down our number and called us when the room was ready! Talk about going out of his way to make us comfortable after a long morning. We checked in early around 1pm complimentary and my boyfriend was totally surprised when he saw the edible arrangements already in the fridge. (Thanks everyone who helped!!) During our stay, we finally got to meet the Patrick (S) who had helped us over the phone on separate occasions. He immediate followed up with my boyfriend asking if he like the fruit. I thought it was awesome he remembered. Honestly, I can't even begin to explain how awesome this guy is; simply a true gem in the hospitality business. He is so eager to go above and beyond to help his guests and always has a great smile on his face! We used guest laundry multiple days and found it to be get asset to the hotel. They have a great business center and free printing! Yay! It made for printing our boarding passes quite easy. The Starbucks attached to the lobby was my absolute favorite. We order using our phones and would just go down to pick up the order and head back to the room. There was complimentary coffee, tea, and popcorn in the room if you choose to make it. Parking is located under ground in a very secure location. For Seattle, the parking is cost efficient at $18 per night. I had a wonderful time staying at the Mediterranean Inn while visiting Seattle. Great staff, great service. We requested to have a room on the higher level of the hotel. Let me say, the view was amazing. It overlooked the ocean and allowed us to have a great view of the sunset. Some other perks of this hotel consist of: 1. A lovely rooftop lounge area where you could see almost all of Seattle. 2. Free coffee in the morning and apple cider at night. 3. Free popcorn in the room. 4. It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Space Needle and Chihuly. I read other reviews which said that there is no AC in this hotel. That is completely false. There is AC in this hotel so summer stays are definitely comfortable. read more

I was happy to get a good rate on a hotel for the in-laws for an extended stay. I let the person taking the reservation know that there would be a third person staying there for a week of the reservation and was advised to ask the front desk for a roll-away at that time (it was noted on the reservation). The stay was uneventful until the third person came and we were told that the fire code prevents that room from having the roll-away. After being told several times that there was nothing they could do (rather than seeking out a solution), I was told that they could be moved for 3 of the last 6 days for a $150 "upgrade fee. I agreed. At check-out, I was notified that this was "per night". Not happy. read more

My fiance and I just came back from a weekend stay here and loved the convenience of this hotel. Located in the heart of Lower Queen Anne's great eating and drinking spots, and an easy walk to all the Seattle Center attractions as well as the waterfront walking/jogging trail, it was perfect for car-less exploration. We hopped off the train at King Station and took a $10 cab ride up to the hotel where the staff was warm and welcoming. Our room was pretty simple and, admittedly, not overly attractive with a less than stellar interior facing view. However, it was very clean with a large bathroom, a nice Vizio TV, and little kitchenette that included free bottled water, Starbucks coffee, and always appreciated end-of-the-night popcorn. There was also a nice-looking little weight room, business center, adjoining access to a Starbucks coffee shop, and also a rooftop observation deck that offered wonderful panoramic views of the neighborhood and waterfront. All-in-all, especially for the very reasonable rate we secured on Hotwire, this was a great experience. It's not plush, but for our 48-hour stay, we found it to be extremely comfortable and amazingly convenient. read more

The Med is a surprising quaint boutique hotel conveniently located in Queen Anne. Rates were very reasonable at $69/night, $10/night for parking, and $5 for internet in your room. Free internet is available in the lobby. I normally stay at the Westin, Sheraton, or the bigger hotels downtown when coming to Seattle; but I am really tired of paying $35/night for parking and another $15/night for internet. Rooms are a little small, no on site restaurant, and I also notice no air conditioning, but the window works pretty good. There is a Starbucks attached and the hotel is waking distances to all the different food you are looking for. We had an event at the Seattle Center so it was a short walk and meetings in downtown which was a short trip away. Not too bad of a place and will return in the future. read more

This hotel is simply one of the best I have stayed in at this price point. We payed less than $600 for 4 nights including a weekend. This was booked almost at the last minute when we decided we wanted to be closer to the city instead of staying at an airbnb in Renton. It was a GREAT decision! We didn't have a car, so thankfully we didn't experience any negativity there like other reviewers. The location is such that you don't really need a car unless you're leaving the city. We took public transit and uber during our stay. Uber drivers are everywhere in the area, and outside of surge times around 5pm the price is very reasonable and less than renting a car. The front desk staff was very friendly and polite, especially Cassie who helped check us in. I'm surprised to see many yelpers had bad experiences with the front desk staff, maybe we just got lucky? They gave us a few options for rooms and even told us we could switch to a king room for free on the second night of our stay when one became available. We ended up staying in our queen room facing the street with a view of the space needle. We didn't experience any noise issues at all which was a bit surprising, I was definitely prepared for some noise. The wifi is free and actually usable unlike many other hotels I've stayed in. The umbrellas they had to borrow were definitely useful, we used them every day. We didn't use the bikes, but it was nice to have the option. The Starbucks downstairs is very convenient, we were in a rush on the last day to catch our flight and were happy we didn't have to skip breakfast since we could just have Starbucks on the way out. Yes, they don't offer free breakfast. Honestly, how many hotels actually have a GOOD free breakfast especially in this price range? I can't even think of one. We also loved having Starbucks coffee & Tazo tea available in our room as well, and they made sure it was restocked every day. The little shelf in the bathroom is a little inconvenient and the tub is a little bit small, but I just chose to get ready in the kitchenette area instead(there is a mirror over the sink in the kitchenette). I have no complaints about the room. The bed was one of the most comfortable I've had in a hotel and there were plenty of blankets and comfy pillows provided. The AC & heater both worked fine. The room was clean when we came in and was cleaned again every day while we were out. The housekeeping staff was really nice when we encountered them too. Overall, I have no complaints and would highly recommend this hotel. Obviously other folks have had issues with the parking, so take that into consideration. You might also consider other parking options in the area, as we saw many garages with reasonable rates. If you stay, make sure you try Toulouse Petit down the street(recommended by the front desk staff). We had two fantastic breakfasts there, don't miss the breakfast happy hour :) read more

For the deal-seeking-but-not-wanting-to-stay-in-a-crappy-hotel type, I would highly recommend the Mediterranean Inn! I stayed there over Labor Day Weekend and Bumbershoot, and I still only paid about $120 or less/night. On top of that, the hotel was in a great location, clean, and the rooms feature kitchenettes - which is great for storing some small meal/snacky type foods so you're not always searching for restaurants or takeout. (AND - there is a Safeway a block away, so you can pick-up food, wine, and beer there!) The hotel is within walking distance of Seattle Center/the Space Needle and some fun Uptown bars and retail. It's also on many bus lines to downtown and other popular neighborhoods. I was there for business and fun, but I imagine the hotel would also be a good place to stay with family. Could there be more amenities? Yes. But if you're even the least bit self-sufficient, this hotel will be just fine. I saw someone else ragged on paying for internet access, but from what I remember, it was a nominal fee for fast internet...for the entire week. I now live in Queen Anne, and I always refer my friends to that hotel if they are interested in visiting Seattle. read more

We recently spent two weeks at the Mediterranean Inn while in town for the PAX convention. Our flight came in way, way too early for check-in. The first deal clerk helped us by putting our bags in a holding room so we could kill some time. (Breakfast at the Shanty and a caramel macchiato at Starbucks...) When we were just nearing sleep-deprived madness in the lobby, Leeann(sp?) got us checked in early. My hero! Our room was tidy and armed with complimentary water, tea, coffee and popcorn. We also had a mini fridge, kitchen sink, and microwave. There wasn't AC, but we visited during a cool time, and there was a ceiling fan if we were warm. Shower water was hothothot (this is a great thing.) So overall: *friendly, helpful staff *free computer/internet use in the lobby *great location *reasonably priced *good amenities for a longer stay *has a weekly/discounted rate for Internet and parking! *$40 town car to the airport Thanks, Mediterranean Inn. When friends from NY visit, this is the hotel I suggest! It's good value for the price, the rooms are spacious (by NY standards!), clean and well-kept. The location is close to Seattle Center, giving it close proximity to the monorail for quick downtown trips for friends who don't care to walk or take metro bus. It's very close to the Safeway and Metropolitan Market, lots of good restaurants and bars, and, as a few of my friends commented, convenient to good cd stores! The front desk staff are friendly and helpful, and the hotel doesn't have a 'touristy' feel to it, which is a plus in my book! read more

2 night here with my young son and we love the location, close to the Space Needle and a fair walk to Pike Place and Aquarium. The room is small and fairly clean. 5th floor facing the courtyard(?) but reading the other reviews glad we did. First night was really warm in our room, second night we are leaving the window open...we will see how the noise is. We are staying during the week so no late night partiers...I hope! Not really impressed with the kitchenette that consists of a small coffee maker, small microwave and a fridge. Thank goodness I pack well otherwise no napkins, plates or utensils. Sorry there are utensils of the plastic kind. The bathroom is what grossed me out and will likely not stay here again...opened and used toiletries and a few strands of hair (def not mine, too long) in the tub. Why do they bother with the stickers that indicate the shampoo and etc aren't used if the cleaning staff is just going to close it back up and put it back?? Also not impressed with paid wifi since most other hotels offer it for free! I love the neighbourhood and will stay again sadly, it won't be at the Med Inn. read more

I had a tremendously difficult time getting from LAX to SEA and then the hotel. I got separated from my group and had to find my way alone when my flight was delayed. I was given incorrect info by google maps (just before my phone died) on the best way to reach the hotel via the convenient link lite train from SEA. The day was a living lesson in Murphy's Law. Until I finally set foot in this hotel. The staff was so helpful. Checking in, Timothy could tell what kind of day I had clearly had and immediately made me feel welcome and calm. I knew the unlucky streak was finally over. They gave me complimentary wifi for the week I was here and let me know how to get to where I was going to meet up with my group. Normally the wifi is only free in the lobby and biz center but the nightly rate was very reasonable - just under $5 per night. Plus the roof deck (open all hours) has gorgeous views and the rooms come with a microwave and minifridge - not the kind full of overpriced booze and snacks either - the kind you can use to make yourself at home while you're here. There's also complimentary popcorn, strabucks and tea int he room. And there's a local market less than a block away to fill that mini fridge. There's also a free gym, open all hours just off the lobby. It's small but has what you need to get a good workout in on the road. And it's never crowded. I was able to use the treadmill for over 1.5 hours every morning, and never made anyone wait. The staff is awesome and makes sure you have what you need! Service is on par with any of the luxury hotels - Beverly Wilshire, Peninsula, Four Seasons, etc.Will def stay here again next time I'm in Seattle. read more

I stayed here for 3 days (1/5-1/8/10). I was just here on vacation visiting and checking out the sites. We got a really good deal on the room and they did price match it for us when we came across a cheaper rate. I was looking for a place close to everything but I didn't want to pay $150 for a room I was hardly going to be in. This place fit. Pros: Price $65.00/night (double bed) Close to public transportation(monorail $4.00 round trip to downtown) About a 15 min walk to pike place if you feel like walking metropolitan market (like wholes food) small kitchenette (fridge, sink, coffee) Starbucks downstairs GREAT view from the rooftop Right to space needle/seattle center Cons: The smell of the hotel, like old cigarettes, we had to sleep with the heater on full blast and leave the windows open. The blankets had cigarette burns in them, I took them off and got 3 white sheets from the front desk and just used those instead, did the job. Maids leave @ 3pm, so if you need anything be sure to ask before then or else you ll have to walk down to the front desk to ask. Overall the hotel did not wow me in anyway. It got the job done for the price I was looking to spend, so you can believe I got my moneys worth. I probably would not stay here again but if I did I wouldn't be extremely upset. read more

Nice rooms, good location shame about the wifi. It was a great stay rooms are nice and roomy, nice to get a fridge and a coffee machine. Bed was comfy and clean, Bathroom was spacious and again clean. They are located outside the city centre but within a long walk or a short walk to the space needle. Head up to the roof for an amazing view over Seattle. The only down sides were the lack of free wifi and no milk to have with my tea or coffee. It is located right next door to a Starbucks which allows for a nice early morning coffee and a chance to check e-mails. I took to using the Safeway next door to get a few supplies and it meant i could get some milk for my tea. read more
