I had high hopes when I stopped by here for lunch. The interior is pleasant. The service is excellent and quick. The prices are good. The food is beautiful. The food (shrimp rolls and drunken noodles with chicken) were very tasty. The spice/sauce tray was yummy. But, why I'm pulling off what would have been 4.5-5.0 stars are three things. 1. The drunken noodles, while delicious with a nice smokey flavor, was very oily. 2. Not once, but twice I bit into my noodles and hit chicken bones. Not undone by this, but still. 3. My system was undone for two days after eating here. I'm thinking it was the oiliness of the noodles, because the shrimp were fine. Eek. I'm about to disappoint a lot of people with this. Came to Mee Thai with VERY high expectations because of the raving on Yelp and Orlando Weekly but I left quite underwhelmed. We ordered the cheese sticks which were a take of crab Rangoon but with shrimp. I didn't taste a different, shrimp wasn't noticeable. We also had fried egg rolls which were tasty. For dinner I ordered chicken pad Thai, medium. It came out overwhelmingly hot. Could barely eat a quarter of it without chugging multiple glasses of water. My husband ordered the pad see ew and was also underwhelmed. The establishment itself is a little run down, but I like that you get the family feel as soon as you walk in. This place was just great! My experience was just about as good as it could get at a sit down place. Again, I'll start with what I ordered. I love me a Tom Kha. The tricky part is to get a sense of "balance" to this beautiful dish, and I'll be honest with you.. this place gets it. I did make it mild as far as "spicy" yet it wasn't the spicy that hurts. Nothing was over powering each other; the coconut milk, lemongrass, galangal, kaffir leaves with the mushroom and chicken.. it was refreshing. Period. So once again, I tried something I knew I couldn't make or at least I wasn't confident in making so I ordered me the Pra ram with tofu. There are only a few places in Orlando that have the "house peanut sauce" with a protein as a main dish (at least that I can think of.) Oh boy, when it came out.. it was such an inviting dish. Again, I got this mild as far as spicy but I think it could have gone up to a medium. It's a simple dish that hit the spot. Now I'll make comment on some other dishes I was able to try! Oof, I think the Green Curry was DIVINE! If you are a curry fan, I encourage you to get this. Like the Tom Kha, this too had a sense of balance with flavors. We found this stand alone local restaurant in our quest for the best Thai food near us. We tried a few that people had suggested but they were kind of Meh. This place was highly rated on a national survey which intrigued us and so we placed our pickup order with anticipation. This small restaurant has both indoor and patio seating and might be fun to come back to experience another time but this was takeout night. We ordered Fresh Rolls (unfried rice paper rolls), Massaman Curry with Chicken, Chicken Pad Thai, Pineapple Fried rice, and Basil Chicken (all medium spice). All four were delicious and had big pieces of chicken and vegetables (shrimp in the Pineapple Fried rice). They were also generous portions and we had plenty for another meal the following day. We stuck to the same meals that we've tried elsewhere so that we could compare apples to apples and let me say - there was no comparison. Mee Thai easily stood out as the overall winner for both taste and price. They have just the right balance of flavors and spice that makes it really hard to stop eating. You've been warned! Mee Thai Restaurant is a testament to the true power of Yelp! A long day in Orlando created the craving for solid Thai food. Naturally I leaned on Yelp to guide me in the right direction. Insert Mee Thai Restaurant. The reviews said it all, and I am proud to report that this place absolutely holds up! Mee Thai is a small restaurant located on Lee road that most would drive right past. My wife and I visited late one evening prior to closing and the entire staff was super polite, helpful, and courteous. We enjoyed the at home feel that the staff provided. We shared an order of our favorite appetizer, Summer Rolls. They were full of shrimp and fresh vegetables. The dipping sauce was also incredible. We went with our own bowls of curry for the main course. I went with my regular Panang and my wife went with Massaman. The bowls were HUGE! Plenty of food for two to share or for two separate meals. We enjoyed the dish with a side of white rice and left satisfied. The pad Thai had me very... confused. It definitely DOES NOT taste like pad Thai. It did not have the distinctive flavor of fish sauce, paprika and lime. It was so off. This is hands down my favorite Thai restaurant in Orlando. Being a big fan of Thai food and especially the northern region's cuisine, this place is as authentic as it gets. The special, Pad Ka Prow with beef and an egg on top is AMAZING and the dish that let me know this place was the real deal. I also love their Panang curry with shrimp, so much flavor and so soothing! Their Pad See Ew and duck fried rice are absolute staples and I recommend those dishes for anyone who is just getting into Thai food. Their coconut shrimp is my favorite appetizer. For soups I'm split between the dinner rice soup with chicken, a much more flavorful version of chicken soup, and their noodle soup with beef meatballs...I'm drooling as I write this. It's soooo good! For salads, I absolutely love their Laab, but my favorite is the Nam Sod with pork! Get it medium hot! Of course I have to get a Thai tea if I'm eating a spicy dish, which is always so fresh, because this place does legit Thai hot! None of that toned down spice, this place is the real deal. Their banana delight with coconut ice cream is worth the trip alone. I even had them cater my 30th birthday, and the portion sizes for the pricing were such a good deal plus everyone at the party LOVED the food and soon became loyal customers as well! My husband and I were craving Thai food so we decided to try out Mee Thai. It's not too far from us so that was a plus. As soon as we walked in, we were taken to a booth. When we arrived, we were the only ones there, but by the time we left, there were several other tables. I started off with green tea. Take note that this place does not serve alcohol, beer, or wine. I didn't mind though, helped keep my bill down. My husband and I shared the fried calamari appetizer. My husband ordered the green curry with beef Thai hot. He said it was definitely Thai hot. He really enjoyed it. I ordered the red curry snapper (medium). It came with lots of veggies and 2 large pieces of fish. It was really tasty but next time I'm going for hot (I don't think I can handle Thai hot). Both entrees were huge and we had leftovers for dinner the next day. Service was good- attentive, polite, prompt. Our server did a great job answering our questions. I felt like it was a good value too. We got a ton of food for less than $40. My parents and I were in the Lee road area and it was around lunchtime. It would have taken too long to go home and all of us were getting to a "hangry" stage, so decision made to come eat here! The restaurant is clean and bright with comfortable seats, and our Hostess/ Server was really very lovely and attentive. As soon as we ordered, gratis iceberg lettuce salad was provided, but rather than the usual peanut dressing, there was this weird mayo-sesame dressing. I didn't like the taste of it as much, but my mum was a massive fan of it. I also wanted some more carrots components in the salad. For our drinks, we ordered Thai Iced Tea. This was delicious, with tea and condensed milk ratio just right and to my surprise, it was served in massive red wineglass. I'd def order this drink from this restaurant again. Food-wise, from the menu we ordered: 1) Veggie Penang Curry - Decent balance of the coconut cream and peanuts as the souring agent + good amount of vegetables. Overall taste was similar to Penang Curries eaten at other local area Thai restaurants. 2) Veggie green curry - taste-wise for me, this curry missed the sour + savory elements, especially the tang of lemongrass, and was more sweet with the coconut milk dominating each bite. 3) Tom Yum seafood soup - YUM! YUM! fabulously cooked seafood (that was not over cooked, which is a pet peeve of mine) and with the perfect balance of hot and sour taste elements. Fave dish for me and something I would order again. Really appreciated that the Hostess came and checked with us about the soup having chicken stock base, as we'd ordered veggie options. 4) Basil Snapper - another winning dish! Snapper was so beautifully flaked and the sweet, fresh, herb taste of basil absolutely complemented the soy marinade. I couldn't stop going back again and again, for just one more bite from this dish, even after I was getting quite full! Bonus was that the leftovers warmed up quite nicely the next day, and the fish didn't dry out. Another shout -out to our lovely hostess/ server - she noticed the dish she originally bought out to our table had the wrong fish variety, and took it back to the kitchens, and bought back the Snapper. Really appreciated that honesty! Overall, we liked the food, but the seafood dishes were definitely better in taste than the veggies dishes, so we do plan to come back, however will probably stick to more of the fishy options. Very delicious Thai!! Was worth the drive past some of my other go to spots. I loved their drunken chicken noodles. The red curry and snapper was delicious-- even the day later. My favorite won ton soup was here because of the flavor infused in the broth and the soup was full of vegetables. Staff was friendly and pick up was quick and easy. They greeted me straight away and my food was ready when they said it would be. Portions were a decent size and I was full and had leftovers because I saved half my dish and the soup for lunch the next day. I will definitely be back when I am in the mood for Thai. read more

Yelp is the reason we decided to give this place a shot. And we are glad we did. It's the sort of place where you know you're getting authentic food with no frills in a humble little spot. My husband and I have been here 2x already and have had nothing less than a pleasant experience. Every time we visit, I feel like we are walking into someone's home. We are always greeted so warmly. It's nicely decorated and clean and the tv is always playing some sort of food travel show in the background. The portions are huge and the food is not lacking of flavor. We've had the pad thai (I've had veggies while my husband opts for chicken) which is chock full of veggies and spice. The papaya salad is a MUST and it comes with a side of sticky rice. Oh My, Great Thai! Basically a hole in the wall freestanding restaurant on Lee Road near New Horizons training center and the big VW dealership. Clean and modest decor but SUPERB Thai food! I had an order of shrimp summer rolls with scrumptious peanut sauce, Thom Kha soup with coconut milk, chicken, mushrooms and traditional Thai spicy heat that can be turned down upon request, and I also had their terrific papaya salad! The dressing is light and tangy and this salad is available in a smaller appetizer portion which was a perfect fit with my summer rolls and cup of soup. My friends had Cashew chicken dish that had a sweet subtle flavor and was spiced to their specifications. Mee Thai has a host of "pad" options and most entrees were available in lunch or dinner portions. I cannot wait to go back so I can try all their other dishes!! 5 stars just not enough of a rating for Mee Thai Restaurant. Can we double the amount of stars, please? Words will never amount to the gratitude, appreciation, and love that I have for Mee Thai. I am currently battling and kicking cancer's butt and my oncologist ordered me a strict diet, one that makes it extremely difficult to go out to eat. I called Mee Thai in advance to see if special accommodations could be made, and they ensured that they would specially prepare my meal based on my circumstances. My friend, Jennifer, and I had dinner here and it was the most pleasant experience ever that the two of us cried! We literally sat down with tears falling from our eyes. Our dinner was well prepared and very tasty and delicious. The restaurant treated us like family and catered to us wonderfully. As if the kind hearted staff and delicious food wasn't enough, the two selfless staff members said a very beautiful prayer out loud for me. No experience will ever compare to this particular experience. It's no wonder Mee Thai is listed as Florida's top 100 places to eat. read more

Just amazing, this place deserves its five stars. It's basically a family run, hole in the wall Thai place on a somewhat neglected part of Lee Rd. The menu has all your standard American Thai restaurant items, but even these rather typical dishes have an extra love put into them that makes them standout. For example, the Pad Woonsen here is just better than the one at Siam Garden, and even way better than the very overpriced and lackluster Thai Orchard on Park Ave. Nothing feels overly greasy...even heavy dishes here like Pad Woonsen feel surprisingly light because of the freshness of the ingredients and preparation. What really excites me about this place is that although theyre catering to non-Thai....they keep some authenticity alive, with dishes that Thais love but that Americans aren't familiar with....spicy, sour, tangy flavors like in the Yum Woonsen salad, are so much more enjoyable than a basic, watered down Americanized version of Thai food we often get here. For example, also try the Lemon Tilapia...it's full of fresh chillies, lime, fish sauce etc. Over tilapia and veggies. The place itself is cozy and the staff are friendly ...but the best part is that the prices are comparable to other Thai restaurants even though the food ia much better. We got the Satay chicken, chicken drunken noodle-medium, green papaya salad- medium, Basil curry with rice - Hot. All were delicious and super spicy. Fair warning: their spice level is probably be higher than yours. Unless you have high tolerance for spicy food, we highly recommend ordering one level below your regular spice level. Their "medium" is spicy enough to clear out all your congestion, and their "hot" will make you cry. Yet their food is so good, you can't stop eating. If you ordered take-out and accidentally ordered something that is too spicy for you, add extra peanut sauce or extra lime juice to dilute the effect. Too much lime juice may cause acid reflux though so use it accordingly. You can also drink milk, Thai tea or eat ice cream to help you overcome the hotness and to neutralize the acidity level. read more

I was on the road for work and Mee Thai in North Orlando is the perfect pit stop on my way from Tampa to Daytona Beach. I started with the Tom Kha veggie soup. Decent portion for the lunch size! I then had the Pad Se Ew (pictured). Very good! Spice levels are on point. I asked for medium and it had the perfect light kick. The staff is also extremely friendly. My mom cooks amazing Thai food at her house and I do a decent job at home. However, when I recently discovered Mee Thai a few weeks ago I must rave about it. Surprisingly, everything that we had ordered was ready in less than 20 mins. Everything was delicious, fresh, and generously portioned. Here's what we had ordered: Seafood Salad Tom Yum Seafood Drunken Noodles (chicken) Red Curry (beef) Bamboo Salad (soob nawmai) On our second visit, we actually went to the restaurant on a rainy Sunday. We were warmly welcomed by a friendly server, Pai. We also met the chef/owner who we learned had come from the Northeastern region of Thailand. Esan food was her specialty. So we ordered the very quintessential Esan dish, Som Tum ( papaya salad), the Esan way. This has to be the best Som Tum I had since our visit to Thai Town in L.A. They also do pretty good to-go business it seemed. Here are some other things that we had ordered: Tom Kha Gai ( the best in town!) Nam Tok ( grilled beef salad) Pad Krapow Gai (basil chicken)-- they do this the right way here. The best preparation is with chopped chicken and topped with fried egg! The restaurant is clean and spacious. They run a Thai travel show on TV which made us want to go on a vacation. We highly recommend you to venture out to try this place.
