5 stars for an amazing first experience! I felt like we were in Thailand again with this kind service and wonderful food. We've been putting this place off but it's so close to us so we finally got around to trying it during lunch. The menu is the same for lunch as dinner but most items are priced a few dollars cheaper. I'd assume the portions are the same, our lunch portions were substantial. Since we were really hungry we started with the fresh rolls, $3. Surprising, I think these were better than any I've had at the other Vietnamese restaurants on Colonial. So fluffy, fresh, accompanied with nice presentation of a radish flower and peanut dipping sauce. For our entrees we both ordered from the stir fry section. My fiancé ordered the Pra Ram with pork, $8.95. His dish came with a good portion of broccoli, zucchini and carrots. The peanut sauce was perfect. I went with the Prad Priew Waan with chicken, $8.95. It's essentially sweet and sour but not breaded and fried. I definitely like the semi more healthy option, the dish had peppers, pineapple, tomato, cucumber and carrots. I ordered it medium to hot but it wasn't spicy at all, I think with this sauce it won't really be to spicy. Both dishes came with a small salad to start, I was so excited for this, I think I was just really hungry but I'm use to South FL restaurants always giving a side salad with your entree. It's just a simple lettuce with carrots and a clear peanut sauce but the dressing was so good. I was surprised that this restaurant made the list for Yelp's top 100 restaurants in the US for 2019 at number 24. This is a wonderful, iconic small family run Thai restaurant! The fresh rolls were indeed fresh, and delicious. We had drunken noodles, which we cooked to perfection and so tasty, and Panang curry, flavorful and packed with meat and fresh vegetables. This hidden gem is one of our favorite quiet date night retreats. It is not a place that would catch your eye driving by, but trust me, the food and service are worth making a conscious effort to make the drive to this restaurant. We always order the Tom Kha soup, which is a coconut lemongrass flavor, chunked with vegetables and chicken. It is always a favorite starter. We also ordered egg rolls. They are the crispiest egg rolls we've ever eaten! For dinner, we split a meal, because it truly is so much food. We recommend, pad Thai, masaman curry width tofu and potatoes or pad see ew noodles. You can't go wrong with their daily special either. The service is always superior and the food is cooked so quickly. The restaurant is clean and they have spacious booths to tuck away in for a quiet dinner. Lunch can get busy, so go early. We highly recommend this delicious restraint! read more

I am always on the hunt for some tasty Thai food. It may not look like much from the outside, but Mee Thai is that spot! It is nice and quaint inside, and the staff is very friendly and pleasant. We ordered the panang curry with chicken and beef fried rice. They start you off with a little salad, which is the normal iceberg lettuce and shredded carrots topped with a sweet sesame based dressing. The panang curry was quite tasty. It comes with white rice. I got it medium, and it was just right! I have a pretty high tolerance for spice, so it is probably too spicy for the average diner. The beef fried rice was good as well. I ordered Panang Curry Mild Chicken. It was tasty not as good as my favorite Tuk Tuk Thai Fusion in Tampa lacking a kick/spice and flavor. Overall the portion size could've been bigger for the price. Canned Drinks are pricey so if you are getting take out maybe just drink what you have at home. The interior is clean but definitely older. Service was okay it took a bit before someone greeted me and asked if they could assist. read more

We just added another favorite to our lunch choices! I noticed Mee Thai on Lee Road as I drove past the other day and today looked it up on Yelp to find glowing reviews. Well deserved! 9 short minutes from RDV area, this small restaurant is a gem! The menu was extensive and had a hard time deciding. I settled on Shrimp Pad Ginger, so delicious with nice plump shrimp, strips of ginger, cilantro, scallions, and carrots. The food came out quickly and the staff was so very friendly. A coworker ordered chicken nan sod and loved it too. The individual rice steamers were so cute. There are so many other things on the menu I want to try so I'm glad it's close. I had the red snapper curry with coconut milk and oh my! it was the most delicious thing I've ever had in my entire life! So I went here with a friend of mine after getting positive reviews from another friend of mind about this restaurant that I often drive by. So I went and wow was it good , my friend asked for spring rolls, which they called "egg rolls", a little bit confusing but when they hit the table THEY WERE DELICIOUS! I highly recommend it as a starter. Then we order our meal, I order shrimp pad Thai and my friend ordered the low menu with low spice. However, the meal came to the table a bit spicier than expected which cause my friend to stop eating after a period of time. I finished my entire meal and loved it! I was full! Who says you can have too many Thai restaurants? Not this guy! Mee Thai is another great option for Thai food with some of the friendliest service staff I've met. It took me a while to write this review, because I just don't hand out 5 stars willy nilly ;) The food here is consistently delicious, with full flavor, and they do not skip on the spice. If you like hot food, start with a medium and work your way up. You've been warned! Drunken fried rice is my absolute favorite here. It sounds safe and basic, but boy does it blow other restaurant's flavor out of the water! Order it with whatever protein you want (tofu, chicken, beef). Sometimes they have specials where they would make it with snapper or shrimp. Drunken noodles is also a great option where they replace the rice with noodles. The curries are great here too. The flavors are deep and not watered down. Panang curry is what I typically order at Thai restos and theirs is excellent. Another favorite is Praram. It is a stir fry that uses peanut butter in the sauce and it is delicious! It has similar flavors to the peanut butter dipping sauce in Thai dishes. I love mine with tofu. The restaurant is in a somewhat removed building away from the rest of the stripmall. I've seen the building change from a diner, to a cuban spot, to an arepa spot... but now that Mee Thai has taken over, it's definitely gonna be there to stay! It has some of the best Thai food in Orlando and guess what... it made it on the Top Yelp 100 2019! read more

Small little spot we decided to try as it was around the corner to our church - Calvary Chapel Orlando. They start you off with a small salad with a Mayo vinaigrette that was absolutely delicious..... the cheese rolls were amazing. Husband ordered Pad Thai and it was also Very delicious I ordered a Pad Garlic and it was so good. We understand why this place has 5 stars . A legit authentic Thai restaurant! Absolutely love the food here! Quality and quantity is everything here and the staff make sure you are satisfied and happy. They are also very friendly and attentive. Here are a few of my top favorite orders: -chicken dinner rice soup. My son absolutely loves this. It's like a rice porridge but not as sticky, ground chicken, and has a hint of a ginger flavor. A very "home-y, comfort" soup. -drunken fried rice. ABSOLUTELY LOVEEE THIS. -pa ram with tofu. If you're a fan of peanut butter. Than this is for you. Peanuty goodness. Have yet to try other things on the menu but these are my go to every time! Parking is small and a little tight at least towards the front side of the restaurant, there is extra parking in the back and definitely more spacious. read more

Hidden gem alert! Mee Thai is tucked away in a slightly weird spot - not a ton of people are making the trek from downtown to Lee Road for lunch. But let me tell you - I used to live 2 minutes from this unassuming little restaurant; I moved away over a year ago but I'm still finding excuses to make my way to the other side of town for their food. The place is fairly small - the walls covered in pictures of the Thai royal family. If you've ever been to Thailand you'll know that this is common practice there - the royals are EVERYWHERE. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and a tv in the corner plays a never ending series of travel videos showcasing Thai and other southeast Asian cuisine. Ok let's talk the food - it's incredible. Every entree is started with a side salad with house dressing. It has a slightly sweet tang, like a poppyseed dressing minus the seeds. Really tasty. Portion sizes for meals are good - you won't really need a starter, even with a lunch-sized portion. That being said, I always get one anyways - I can under no circumstances pass up the Tom Yum Soup here. Delicious hints of lime and a spice level that gives you heat without being overwhelming. Lots of chicken and big chunks of mushroom and onion. This is a hearty soup. For entrees, you can't go wrong with any of the Thai classics - Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Curries - choose what sounds appealing, it will be good! Fiancé likes the Massaman Curry which has chunks of potato (something I now add when I make curry at home - thanks Mee Thai!). My personal favorite is the Pra Ram. If you are a peanut butter junky like me, you'll LOVE it. Chicken, broccoli and rice with a delicious house-made peanut sauce that will blow you away. The food in combination with the fast and courteous service got 5 starts from me. Glad we ordered their thai egg rolls the wrapper was crispy and filled with veggies and clear noodles. I like ordering these as an app at thai places because they aren't as heavy and greasy as other egg rolls, bonus they are $3 bucks. The server (who was super friendly and excited to talk about the menu) suggested an appetizer portion of papaya salad and we were so glad she did because it was delicious! Perfect crunchy little side dish to accompany all the spicy dishes we ordered. Highly recommend it! The appetizer portion was large enough for 2 people and only $4.95 Lunch entrees were tofu pad thai, chicken green curry and basil beef stir fry. We got medium and it was not spicy for traditional thai standards. Luckily they provided a spice tray and i was excited to see they had fish sauce with thai chili peppers! I love that condiment on anything with coconut milk - curry or Tom ka gai. The pad thai wasn't all that special probably wouldn't order it again but it was a decent size portion. My friends just introduced me to this place and I couldn't be happier! Great prices and huge portions. The decor is casual with a few booths and glass tables. The service was excellent and the food was even better! I had the Pad Thai with chicken (hot) and it was delicious. I love spicy things and this hit the spot. The dish (and I believe most of their dishes ) come in heat levels ranging from not spicy, medium, hot and Thai hot. Each entree also comes with an appetizer salad. Simple, cozy, authentic. This place has some of the best Thai food I have had in my life. They have the crispiest tofu, almost unreal amazing texture. Also the steamed dumplings appetizer from the little specials menu on the table which I'm usually not a fan of, but I loved these. I'm unsure what the flavor of the house dressing was, but it was unlike anything I have ever had, very unique and very good. I highly recommend the Pad Phet, its a spicy dish without noodles and some curry paste. If it was any more spicy, I might not be able to handle it. It burns my mouth, but is so flavorful I can't stop eating it. Their thai iced tea is strong and sweet and the fried banana and mango sticky rice very ripe and perfectly made. It was good but had a lot of egg which I don't care for as did my partners pad Thai. The pad Thai tasted different than any other I've had. It was good, just different. CAUTION: BUGS. IN. FOOD. I love Thai food. I love Curry. I have probably been to nearly every Thai restaurant in Orlando and when I saw this place on Yelp, and their 5 star rating, I had to stop in. Let make this short and sweet because honestly I am nauseous from the entire situation, I literally feel physically ill. My husband and I both ordered curry. I opted for my usual yellow curry with tofu. My husband got red curry with snapper. When the food arrived, it looked nice. Looking a little closer, I noticed something. A bug. I pulled it out, and to be quite honest it was not the first bug that got to me. I am a chef and I totally understand that when dealing with vegetables such as broccoli, that has crevices and hiding spots for little critters, things CAN HAPPEN. So I carry on, and take a bite. Another bug. And then another. Until I've pulled out five. Five bugs in a matter of about a minute. I look up at my husband and tell him, in a low tone as to not make a scene because there are a lot of people around. The last thing I wanted was to cause everyone to leave in disgust. My husband decided that instead of calling the manager over, he would bring the food to the front counter. The manager looked terrified as he explained, and she said she was going to bring it to the back to 'inspect' it. It is an open kitchen concept so I watched the entire staff gather around the bowl of curry. I saw their facial expressions change from happy to disgusted. The manager comes out and guess what she says? 'Oh no, those aren't bugs, those are spices. The way they are ground, sometimes they look like bug, I'll make you another one'. My husband is in complete dismay, and simply says 'No, I will pay for our drinks and we will leave', and the manager says that she saw him eating his meal, he has to pay for his. This is terrible business practice and he also took MAYBE five bites of his food due to being disgusted at the fact that he probably was eating bugs too, as we both got curry. We should not have had to pay for either dishes. I was fine paying for the Thai tea because it was quite good! But the food? Absolutely not, avoid this place. What is most disturbing is that there were multiple kinds of small bugs in my food. A smörgåsbord of incects. 'There's a fly in my soup' is given an entire new meaning here at Mee Thai.
