Mega Coney Island is just kind ok. They sell Detroit style and Flint style coneys. I tried both. I thought the Flint was a little bland. The buns were stale, which I didn't like, but the hotdog themselves were Koegel Vienna's, which is my favorite. Server was really nice. read more

We are visiting from Austin, Texas and we decided to stop by to have a quick Greek salad and a coney dog. We looked at other Coneys and we passed by Leo's and decided to drive almost 40 minutes to try the mega Coney Island because we come here often to visit and we've never tried it yet. We sat with our drinks and waited while our waitress passed by us and never took our order. We waited about 10 minutes. She came by us, asked the table across from us how their food was and then continued on past us and that's why we decided to walk out now I wasted about an hour and a half my time driving to this place and back and I have no dinner still so they don't consider how their bad service affects people that come to visit the establishment read more

It was a rainy evening. My partner and I strolled up to grab a coffee after a cold case. After deciding to enjoy a nice walk in the park after, we entered through the drive-through. 'Shakes' immediately caught our eyes, a sudden light filling us again after the dead end. The drive through: quick, efficient. Classic. We always stopped to eat on our way north. Yesterday when we stopped there were less than 10 cars in the lot? Never have I seen the lot so empty except at closing. We ate and then got the bill. $7.49 for a side of curly fries, $7.49 for a side of onion rings. $15 for a potato and onion? $56 for a lunch for two. You were a good place to eat with reasonable prices for a coney, now the food is sub par and way over priced. Okay, this is a gourmet foodie attempting to review an establishment that appears to be a cross between a tourist trap and a local legend! Went on a Sunday mid-day but there was no wait seating me. Attention to taking my order was wicked fast. Despite pre-apologies from the waiter about the kitchen being slow, my jalapeño poppers arrived speedily (the secret, apparently is to order as an appetizer). I immediately realized something I never had before: jalapeño poppers suffer from a major identity crisis! They are presumably hot but come with heat extinguishers in the form of the cheesy stuff. These particular poppers arrived freshly fried but not greasy, with a slight crunch to the breading with texture in the mouth immediately changing to a squishy ooze of the cheesy stuff. Frankly, the peppers themselves were not hot, except for their temperature, until I poured Franks hot sauce then they were frankly hot but substantially cooler in temperature. I had the Mega Burger, but I thought I had ordered a Mega Reuben. I thought they delivered the wrong order but that is what the waiter wrote down. Probably because it was Mega noisy, especially after a humongous desert was slapped together and the waitstaff gathered together to sing happy birthday to some poor bloke. The time gained by rapid service was lost totally when I had to ask for my bill three times. I am really simply splitting the difference on my review here: the food (which was not what I wanted) was quite good. The staff were friendly. The food is a 3 but the service was a 5. They were so kind to us. We only came in to get an order to go. And she asked if we would like a water while we waited. How nice is that?! The other lady was also very nice. The place looks like a normal family diner. Nothing special. But lots of room. The food portions were extremely generous as well. Frequented this place for years and it sure has gone down hill lately. Stopped by this morning, ordered a Farmers Omelette through the drive thru. Got home and it was the most disgusting thing I've had in awhile. Usually I love their omelette's but they sure have let quality slide. The Omelette itself was dry with NO cheese what so ever. The potatoes had this weird taste to them which also carried over to the omelette, normally I love their hash-browns. Toast was burned. Whoever packed the order should be fired for allowing it to go out. They have absolutely no idea what quality control is. I have serious doubts I'll be back here again. read more

Nice place, food was ok but overpriced. Had a cheeseburger and fries with a soda that came to little over $17.00, the drink alone was $4.00. Male cook working 8/1 at 910p had his whole face exposed with his mask under his chin. Told the woman in the drive thru he needed to put his mask on. He did not. Ironically, theres a sign written on the cooler door to the tune of "masks are required. Reminders should not be necessary". Called to speak to management before a Yelp review. In middle of a long, hot drive, stopped in for a cool, crisp greek salad--classic coney island fare right? Apparently someone didn't tell Mega. Where to start? Well, I will say that I was seated and given water, and had my order taken, quickly, The server stopped by at appropriate intervals, and when I needed more napkins, brought them quickly. The need for those extra napkins is where the trouble started. The greek salad is served on a dinner plate--yes, a standard round dinner plate. And that plate was full to the point where the salad was hanging over the edges. Feta covered every square millimeter of the salad. How am I supposed to dress and toss this on a dinner plate without much of it ending up on the table? I took off the tomatoes and beets, which I don't like that much anyway, but that still didn't leave much room to work, and soon my plate was ringed by feta and a few lettuce leaves. That was without getting the dressing halfway through. Basic truth here, Mega: large salads should be served in a large bowl. If you must use a plate, make it a platter, as some restaurants do, and that can work fine. Putting a large salad on dinner plate is just punishing your customers for not ordering something else. As for that part of the salad I was able to keep off the table and choke down? Forgettable at best. The lettuce was iceberg rather than romaine and coarsely chopped--I needed to cut a few pieces with my knife, which shouldn't be the case when you order a salad in a restaurant. The dressing wasn't bad, a little creamy with just enough vinegar bite. But the pepperoncini were dry and chewy, and the kalmatas tasted like salt and nothing else. Of course, the heavy layer of feta on top made it difficult to taste much else. (It's an accent, Mega, not the main course). Is it fair to assign them one star based on one meal on one visit? I don't assign single stars lightly. But getting something so basic wrong in so many ways screams "We don't care!" It's hard to believe that attitude doesn't affect the rest of their menu. read more

Very friendly waitress... the Manager on the other hand was very rude to the waitress'. You could hear her yelling at them in the dinning room. Made me feel horribly for them. Ok the food is what you expect for diner food. The potion size was great and the price was great... The club sandwich was amazing! Chili cheese fries were great just a little too much chili for me. I am a Pepsi fan and it's hard to find a diner that service it anymore. Bonus points from me on that!! read more

Sorry to say, this experience was top 2 worst I've had at a restaurant. 2 hours to get food, that was cold and missing items, zero drink refills (for 2 hours of waiting). Under staffed and chaotic. Being Father's Day I guess is a factor in how busy it was, but management should account for that in their scheduling servers and cooks. I never, ever send food back. I did this time and did not request new food because I knew what the result was going to be. Headed to McDonald's.... Happy Father's Day. read more

Solid choice for a burger honestly never had a bad one, generous, fresh. Detroit coneys also good consistently. Especially this far north. Onion rings are really good fresh batter dipped. And surprisingly the fish has never disappointed. The gyro has also been consistently good. Extra tzatziki please. Their signature corned beef sandwich isn't bad rather it's a generous bland heap of nice try. Here's the kick, as with all coneys/diners...it's all about the cook- I've been a patron for 20 years, cooks come and go. You can always tell by the breakfast, omelettes specifically- they have been absolutely incredible and also almost inedible depending on your cook. When they are off it's a brown chewy mess, with frozen tasting black hash browns. A pricey way to feed my trash can. But when they are on point? Damn. some of the best cooked tender eggs skillfully wrapped around your favorite fillings. The southern omelette delicious. Coneys only as good as the cooks. I had a hankering for a gyro on the way home. I pulled into the drive-thru and had freshly made hot, crispy fries, hefty gyro, and a refreshing Pepsi. Mega is very generous with the gyro meat, tdaziki sauce, onions, and tomatoes, all placed on grille-warmed, soft pita bread that is thick enough to hold the sandwich contents together. I like the finely diced onions and chopped tomatoes. It allows you to get a bite of every ingredient, leaving the rest for the many bites left to go in this generous order. Well, I can't review the food as I didn't get my order.. the shakes I did receive were fine enough... First, to the young lady who took my order over the phone... please, don't ever let anyone treat you the way the person (whom I assume was "managing") was treating you. To anyone reading this review, I understand how frustrating and stressful it can be in a kitchen environment, but the level of insanity I witnessed at the drive through window tonight was unbelievable... I can't even think of words worthy to describe the meltdown I witnessed over 2 hotdogs and a club sandwich. After screaming at me for asking where the rest of my order was, this person began SCREAMING at a server on the floor to come tell me why my food wasn't there... saying SHE messed up the order, and HE wasn't going to be the one to tell me... all the while I could hear him through the glass... not see him mind you, but HEAR him. After listening to this person lose it for about 2 minutes... i just drove away. So again to the server, even if it was 100% your fault that my $10 of revenue wasn't ready.... it would have been totally fine. No babies would have been murdered, puppies weren't going to blink out of existence... it wouldn't have even been the worst thing that happened to me today. Mistakes aren't what cause people to stop frequenting establishments... the composure, or lack there of, of their employees cause that, and it all starts with leadership. read more

Had the Mega Bacon Cheeseburger and fries. It was exactly as advertised and what I had been craving for weeks. Did not disappoint with quality, portions or service. This was an old school dinner experience with outstanding waitstaff. We wanted for nothing and they anticipated our drink refill needs. I mean I know I shouldn't expect much, this place is cheap...so they have that going for them but I guess edible was one expectation that wasn't met. The gyro was the worst I've ever had, I generally like tzatziki sauce but theirs was horrible and layered with so much it was like brick mortar. The tomatoes are clearly kept in the fridge so they get that nasty grainy texture and the meat was meh. I got a side of mashed potatoes which was a huge mistake. Whatever those were they didn't taste anything like potatoes and the gravy was flavorless and gross. It seriously made me gag. The server was very attentive, almost too much so but I would never complain about a server being too attentive hence the additional star, however she kept asking how everything tasted and it took everything to not say "f@$&ing gross!" I was starving and now I'm not so they delivered on providing the basic need for sustenance...that being said the next time I'm hungry just thinking about eating here again would be enough to make me lose my appetite.. read more

Don't waste ur money haven't been here in awhile but after today I won't be back the prices you spend for this food I got a sandwich and a drink and paid 15 dollars for it. And it had nothing barley in it it was all bread and when I asked about extra meat they wanted an extra 6 dollars for it. Went through the drive thru tonight ordered gyro, regular burger and fries. It ended up being 20$, not 100% sure how it came to that because we've dined inside before and it was never that much. Got home and saw that the fries were so small it was ridiculous, you get a plate full when you eat in at least fill up the fry container. You can see into the back of the house when you're at the drive-thru window, it was disgusting. No one seemed to wash their hands after they touched different items. The cashier that took our money also handled food without washing his hands. The fries also were soggy and had a bad aftertaste, like the fryer hadn't been cleaned out in a while. The cashier was also rude and not friendly, which is weird because I feel like when you're inside they're overly nice to you. I'm so disappointed we wasted our money here. Had I not been sick I would've said something about what we saw when I was there, but I was sick, tired and needed to get home.
