Food, service and ambiance were great! Appetizers were expensive $14 for two very small chicken satay skewers - tasty Shrimp Tempura - dipping sauces were very good - main course was delicious - had Mongolian beef but needed to order rice as it wasn't included. I'm always cautious trying Asian food/fusion in a non-metropolis, but I read the passion on their website and we all agreed to give it a try. Wow. Incredibly fresh and delicious food. We loved every single dish we had. I didn't take pictures but everything was absolutely delightful. Meggie herself served us and she threw in some off menu items like a spicy tuna roll. I had the orange chicken and sticky ribs. The food was cooked perfectly. We all felt full without "feeling" full. We shared a bunch of desserts, the mango custard my favorite. Service on point. Ambiance warm and inviting with a touch of fabulous. They have a more traditional bar area right when you walk in. I was also very appreciative to have non-etOH cocktail options. We are so lucky to have this place in the Northwoods. Normally get the Poke Bowl. We had shredded pork tacos, outstanding. Tempura fish fry, Tempura shrimp for an appie and Szechuan veggie medley last night. Outstanding. Service was great. Excellent service and accommodated an outdoor dinner request in slightly cool weather, which we really appreciated. I had the ribeye, which was pricey, but worth every dollar. It was perfectly seasoned, cooked fantastically and very tender. I would absolutely get it again. It would rival a steak from a Chicago steakhouse. Also loved the wasabi mash, I will be trying to recreate that one at home. Unfortunately no vegetarian entree for my vegetarian spouse, but we've come to expect this up here. I had the Udon Noodles and bok choy. I really liked the Bok Choy. I didn't really like the Udon Noodles I would recommend something else like the mandarin chicken or other fish. We had a big party and the service was excellent. Most of our party liked their choices in their dishes. read more

Stopped in on a Sunday evening with a large party, the wait was only about ten minutes. Immediately upon entering you are greeted by a typical Northern Wisconsin bar scene and some slot machines, to the left you will find a more modern upscale decorated dining environment. The waiter told us that they ran out of glasses and couldn't provide enough cups for the members of our party. This lasted until about 2/3 of the way through our meal. The serving sizes are tiny, definitely not family style or shareable as the waiter indicated. The ribs lack flavor and are cooked inconsistently, we had one order overcooked the other undercooked. The entrees come with no sides and the sides you do order are significantly overpriced for what you get. We ordered the coconut curry but never received a serving spoon or fork to get it out of the bowl, and after informing the waiter still tried to charge us for the item. The organic beef patty (burger) was cooked rare and was never remedied by the kitchen. Overall the service and menu offerings were awful, not a good business for Northern Wisconsin at all. $210 later and we had to go get an actual meal elsewhere! I could not believe the terrible service we received at such an establishment. read more

Our first visit to Meggie's over Labor Day weekend was excellent. The food, service and ambiance were all outstanding. We both ordered small plates: Vietnamese egg rolls, gazpacho, bok choy, ahi and all were very good. As I understand it, the restaurant plans to stay open during the fall and winter months too. The first thing you will see as you enter the restaurant is betting machines. Not exactly what we expected. The seating was comfy and the view was perfect. We ordered an avocado appetizer that was fantastic and we were excited for our meals. Unfortunately they fell flat. The chicken katsu was dry and served on a bed of plain cabbage. Hubby ordered the mandarin orange chicken which was a little better but still pretty average. We were surprised the rice was $7 extra?? The service was very good. Overall we left not impressed. Excellent service and atmosphere. We were excited to find a place that wasn't the typical pub or pizza menu. We ordered a variety of dishes which we all enjoyed. We walked in about 8:10 on Sunday evening and were greeted nicely and were impressed at the beautiful dining space and view to their patio. We took our leftovers home as we couldn't finish it all. Meggie's is doing something different for the Northwoods, and it's really working for us! We have enjoyed dinner there several times and also had a tasty lunch on the patio. Although rumor suggests it's possible to get an off-menu pizza, this is not the usual pizza 'n burger place (although I love those, too). Instead, the menu is Asian influenced and delicious! Sake is available and house cocktails include an authentic Japanese Toki Highball (i.e., Scotch and Soda). In addition to tasty entrees like the Katsu fried cutlet, favorites come in surprising places, like the bok choy side and the mango custard dessert. The bar area maintains a typical feel where you can watch a game, but the dining room strives for something different to match the menu. Indeed, the gambling video games were recently moved to the bar, thus removing that glare and greatly improving the dining experience. Overall, we are regulars at Meggie's, and the crowded dining room and bar indicates that we're not the only fans! read more
