So I used to come here a lot. I know the worker here he is very polite always talking to me. The place is pricey, but the quality is quite good. There is a lot of parking and not to packed when I go. I usually go on lunch. I spent 23 dollars on 2 piece of sushi, one roll, jalapeno bomb, and cripsy rice. With a ice tea to drink. They took longer then usual I believe it was cause I ordered everything fried. It was so good, the calmary roll and jalapeno bomb was so tasty. I would get it again, they help me all the time. They seemed busy on to-go orders . One sushi chef sneezed but turned around sneezed. Should of sneezed in his sleeve. It did not bother me. They also now have poke bowls. Food is delicious and very fresh. The staff is kind and polite. There were only 2 servers on the night we went, and one of them was responsible for dealing with all the take out orders- which were nonstop all night so he was very busy. I understand restaurants here to cut back since Covid, but we did have to wait quite a while for our food and then a long time for our check. Will no longer be ordering from this place. Sushi is about a 4 but the service is about 0. When you order take out, it's consistently late; however, this last time the order did not arrive for 1.5 hrs. When I called to see what was up, the guy who answered started arguing with me that it wasn't late but that the ordering app gave a false time. Instead of acknowledging that they took a long time to make the food and apologizing, he continued to argue with me. I felt bad for the driver who waited at the restaurant for 30 mins waiting for them to make the food. Sorry dude, your attitude just lost you a customer. read more

This place is absolutely amazing! Came here on a recommendation from my ex wife. I figured she'd send me to a bad place as a joke or something. NOT THE CASE. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted and catered to as if I were a regular here. The chef gave me custom recommendations based on my drink choice. The portions are more than generous and the restaurant itself is spotless. A true hidden gem amongst the 500 sushi places around here. The staff were nicer than half the people I call family. This place has greatly improved since the last time we visited. My wife and I tried several of their spicy cut rolls, sashimi combo plate, and cucumber and seaweed salad. Everything ranged from good to very good. Also the prices were quite reasonable and the service was excellent. So this place is officially our "go to" to satisfy our sushi cravings. read more

Ordered takeout from their website. Went in after the recommended time and they didn't have my order. They were pretty difficult when trying to rectify the situation. I eventually got my order after pulling up the receipt on my phone. Wasn't offered any compensation for the error and they seemed like they wanted to rush me out of there after I got my order. Over the last two years Megu has evolved. The quality has never faltered, the recipes haven't changed and most importantly the service remains stellar. I may be a bit biased - my wife and I have come here at least once a week every week for the past two years. The gang at Megu is almost like our second family, whether we're dining in, ordering to go, or having delivery. Very few restaurants can pull off the family feel, let alone over a period of two or more years. Megu is it. Everything in my original review still applies, other than the prices - happy hour still exists, but now only on certain days or times. The price on nigiri and cut/hand rolls has gone up slightly over time (and I can't blame them, the prices originally were INSANE). But even with all that, Megu still remains one of the best values in sushi around especially when you consider the quality. Gomez might as well be famous in the world of sushi eaters in Simi Valley, I probably don't have to say any more about that, because what he and Jerry create is magic. But I can offer a small tip - If you haven't been to Megu on a Sunday, you owe it to yourself to get something made by Joe. Joe puts a level of love and care into his dishes that I've only seen outside of Japan at one other restaurant (Kanda in TO). Joe is the reason we fell in love with Megu, while Gomez and Jerry bring the experience and Americanized flare to the high quality fish. No matter when you go or who makes your rolls, you will be pleased. Definitely try the Garlic Lemon roll, or one of the special sashimi - you won't regret it. read more

Today Saturday at 7:00 pm I realized why I stop going to this restaurant. I wanted to order some rolls for dinner and placed a call and there was no answer and I thought to myself if the restaurant closed down? So I attempt to call them 3 more times and still no answer. In my mind I thought they are closed down or super busy that they don't want any more orders. So I planned to drive by and if closed I will stop at another restaurant right across the street. I make my drive to the restaurant and it is open to my surprise. I go in and the restaurant and they are hosting about 10 customers. I thought to myself this is not so busy. I asked the host I wanted to go order and also asked if there phone was not working. The answer he gave me was I'm Too Busy to Answer the Phone!!! So he is telling me he does not want Anymore Business because he Can't handle the call!!! I was like What!!! I felt sorry for the young couple who owns that restaurant. Soon or later there will be NO more call to the restaurant!!! So I placed my order and the host tells me it will take 25 minutes. I thought 25 minutes to make 2 rolls and 2 hand rolls. He did realize I attempted to call them many times to order ahead so I don't need to wait 25 minutes for a to go order. But I waited and observed why they can't handle 10 customers and phone orders. The 2 sushi men and the help was having a good time toasting with customers drinking beer and sake. The host was going back and forth he was taking care of 2 tables. The phone rings the host don't even pause to answer a call. I think there was at least 3 phone calls he did not even attempt to answer. My order was promptly made in 25 minutes lol and I left and will place my sushi orders with another restaurant next time. Thank you Megu Sushi for your No Service. read more

I feel like Yelp is trolling me. Came here today for lunch given the 4 star review. It was pretty empty. Ordered our food. Tempura CA & shrimp tempura. The tempura was hot and fresh so that was good. They didn't drown the rolls in the eel sauce either so thumbs up for that. Pretty sure the eel sauce has soy sauce in it too, rather odd.Other than that, food was average. The bad. One waitress who wasn't very attentive. She took out order while holding a infant and we got to eat our entire meal with this fussy infant being cooed at. Very unprofessional. After getting our food she took off to go do a delivery and we were left just sitting wondering if we had to wait for her to get back to get the check or what. Eventually the sushi chef came over to have us explain what we ordered and got is the check. Needless to say, will not be back. :( read more

Let me just say, I was a regular for the previous owner and I was unsure coming in. Boy do i feel stupid. Not only are the people as friendly and knowledgable about sushi, but they love what they do and take pride in their food. The fish is fresh and well prepared. Their rolls aren't covered in mayo and sauces that delude the flavors of the sushi. They aren't inexpensive, but with sushi - you get what you pay for. Sure, you can go get cheaper sushi, but it won't be as fresh, taste as good, or be as artistically paired as Megu. If you're an old regular of Momoya, or a new customer - you're going to love these guys. They go out of their way to please their customer and they are genuinely nice people that are fun to talk with. They also have a cool lunch special I need to check out - but it's a great freaking deal considering the quality! Oh, and they even help my boyfriend out by making his special spicy dipping sauce with habaneros & sometimes, if they're in, ghost chili peppers. No one else does that. No one. I LOVE YOU MEGU! Being new to the area, and not fully unpacked yet, grubhub has been a great way to feed my family and get to know local restaurants. Last night, I ordered Megu Sushi thru grubhub for delivery. It was horribly disappointing on so many levels. We had both entrees and sushi rolls. For the entrees, we had 2 chicken teriyaki combo plates ($10 each), a beef teriyaki combo ($12) and a beef short rib combo ($14). All combo plates had very small meat portions. VERY small! The lettuce was wilted and the tempura was soggy without a bit of a crunch. Generous rice portions...but I think that was only for the weight of the container. Sushi was a 5 out of 10. I ordered the 4 rolls I ordered because they all had spicy tuna in them. A favorite of my entire family. All 4 rolls had hardly a smear of spicy tuna. They were great ideas, but they as well had a very small amount of fish. The sauces were not on them or in the bags, so they were dry. I spent over $100! We all were still hungry after dinner and I had to cook something anyway. I would have expected that if I ordered less then 4 entrees and 4 "chef special" rolls for 2 adults and 2 kids under 11...but I ordered and spent more then enough for us and I honestly felt ripped off. $100 down the drain. Guess this family new to Simi won't be visiting or ordering from Megu Sushi again. Thumbs down. read more

This is probably the best sushi spot in Simi Valley for food quality. The service was slow, but I didn't mind because the sushi chef and waiter were just so nice and likable. Also, they didn't charge us for one of our rolls, so we forgave them. One problem, though, was that I really wanted to try some of the sushi items that were listed on their specials board (spanish mackerel and black snapper), but for some reason, they only had the regular stuff like tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and albacore. Oh well, maybe next time. They give large cuts of fresh tasting fish, and the rolls were pretty big, too. They do not have happy hour, but their current promotion is you get a 25 cent 12 oz bottle of Sapporo if you order a large beer ($6.95) or a large hot sake ($5.95). Overall, we were happy with our visit and would definitely go back. It is slightly more expensive than other sushi restaurants in the area, running at an average of about $12/roll and $5/nigiri sushi, but the quality is well worth it. read more

I used to order from a place called "Go Fish Sushi" in simi valley but I think it closed. This place is a sufficient replacement. My favorite are the tuna cut rolls, I buy 2-3 orders of it. (Each roll is like 6 pieces). The rainbow roll is also very good. I've ordered from here about 4 times now I think, I've never gotten sick or anything like that from eating and the food has always been magnificent.
